Flavourful but not super spicy like they serve at other places. Vada pav was little dry but decent. Green chilli was super spicy. It came with with garlic powder, green and sweet chutney. Then came in aloo parantha- crispy and filled with potato masala. They do provide pickle upon needed. Next in line was chola kulcha - best of all items. Semi gravy chola and not too spicy. Tucked away in a little shopping center amongst the big retailers like Target and Lazyboy furniture, you might be tempted to just keep driving. Don't be a fool. First of all, there is an amazing spice market attached. The smells are incredible. The food has been consistently great. The service can be a little spotty. I've gotten take away and delivery numerous times from Indian Flame. The food has always been good. It tastes like homemade, authentic Indian cuisine. The lady who usually waits on me at the counter has always been pleasant and welcoming. The atmosphere of the dining area is very casual. There are booths and table seating but no patio or outside dining. The market next door is accessible from inside the restaurant. The menu is extensive, offering everything from dosa to Indo-chinese dishes to chaat to tasty subjis and biryanis. I've enjoyed several dosas from here. I really like the way they package the crepe separately from the filling, allowing you to spread it when ready to eat. The subjis are accompanied by fluffy basmati. The restaurant also has a sweets case that is hard to resist. Indian Flame is located in Tanasbourne close to Target. There is plenty of parking available along with a nearby charging area. Feeling that Indian food craving on a Monday, and decided to look for a place on Yelp that opens at 11am for an early lunch. We arrived about five minutes after 11 to find the doors locked... But that's OK, we found the second entrance into the restaurant through the market. It looks like they were getting ready, the girl working the counter was busy setting things up, even though she spotted us, no greetings until she was done after a minute or two. No biggie, we used the time to go over the menu and decided on the chicken and goat thalis. Wait was definitely long, easily 20 minutes, but we were very glad to see the portion when the thalis were ready. There was a good amount of Naan bread and all the different curries were delicious. We'll certainly consider this place again for early lunch, but will make sure we buffer some time for the wait. read more

It's stepping out of suburbia and into a small part of India. I came as they were opening and was the only one here. I asked for tandoori lamb chops and a chaat to go with. The nice lady suggested samosa ragas chaat. It was marvelous! Many flavor and textures. Delicious! The Tandoori lamb chops were crazy well done. The samosa chat had chickpea in it, they were inedible, very hard. And chat was pretty bad it self. Noodles had so much garlic and oil as if it was garlic oily noodles with no veggies. I wouldn't recommend this place, so much waste of money and food. Also the hygiene is also questionable, the front till women closing the lid of food was not wearing gloves, using same hand to scratch hair and taking orders and using same hand to close the food, her fingers were touching food. The weekend hours are a bit confusing, it seems like they are closed 230-430pm on weekends also (their website says differently) Food and ambience are great. Lots of tables, self serve area, order at the front and get a buzzer. Casual, comfortable, and clean. Huge menu with lots of options and specialty snack foods you don't see everywhere. We had a mango lassi, Masala dosa, chicken tikka masala and tawa roti (their tandoor was not working on this particular day 5/14/23) I appreciate that they don't use a lot of disposable products. The menu is as delicious as it is diverse. This kitchen is the closest we have come to the authentic taste of India outside of the Bay Area, or Vancouver, Canada. Items like the Vada Pav and Misal pav will transport you to the streets of Mumbai. The cholay kulche reminds me of Delhi's famous parathe wali gali. The Biryani's are finger licking good and the naans are as fresh as you can get them anywhere in the Portland Metro area! We sat down and looked the menu over for a few minutes when we realized that there isn't table service. No biggie I will just go to the counter and order. She handed me one of those vibrating, flashing, beeping devices so I can know when to walk up to the counter to retrieve my order. After an hour of waiting, two trips to the counter to ask how much longer and after watching everyone who came in after us begin eating their food the buzzer went off. I dragged my happy ass up to the counter and brought my plastic sack of Indian food back to my now starving girl. And the food was cold. This is when she activated. Marched the plastic sack to the counter lady and asked for a remake of our food. She fielded a little static from counter lady but soon came back to our table. Another 10 minutes go by before counter lady brought our dinner to us (to her credit). Finally! Dinner! Now, I was hoping the food would be worth all this grumble, grumble. Disappointment. Overall, It was ok at best. The rice was cooked perfectly. The garlic naan was flavorless. The vindaloo and tikka masala were mid. The canned sodas... canned. sodas. were mostly gone and warm by the time the food was ready. All in all it was a crappy experience. I don't recommend this place. I have been looking for a good Indian restaurant since my favorite closed. This one has the closest tasting vindaloo I have been craving. The service was good. It is an order at the counter and they call your name, or give you a buzzer and you buss your own tables and they have a store right next to them. But they were clean and it was quiet with some music lightly playing in the background. Definitely recommend and will be going back.
