Their food was not as flavorful as I thought that it would be unfortunately. It is a nice sit down restaurant with friendly staff but the food missed the mark. It looked delicious but didn't have the punch that we were looking for.

Came on the weekend with my wife and her family and everything was honesty great. We got the thali platters with garlic naan and everything was so good especially the butter chicken. It's fair price and plentiful food with a lot of variety. The waiter Lefitto was able to accommodate our strange requests to have mimosas by providing mango purée and the bubbly. The experienced was mostly enhanced by Lefitto. His energy, friendliness, and genuine personality made interactions very seamless and he was very accommodating to our needs. Great food, great ambiance, and great service. We'll defiantly make Swagat our staple Indian food destination for cravings.

So I want to give a solid 3.5 to this restaurant solely because of the amazing value of their lunch Thali ($15) for chicken, goat, or vegetarian. Great deal! Available even on weekends! The location is in the Orenco area with a parking lot in the back. They have a big heavy door and you can tell they put a lot of effort into the inside decor. The last time I was here was pre-COVID when they still had buffets but sadly I don't think those are coming back. We were a big group of 10 with a toddler needing a high chair. We were greeted right away and lead to the upper area that could accommodate the group. Our order was taken quickly and the food came out in a timely manner piping hot. Again I would highly recommend getting the thali lunch for its awesome value and the great variety. I tried my friend's butter chicken and it was very creamy and tender. The only gripe I had with my goat curry in my thali is there were SO MANY small bones in it! It was really hard to work past that, but also the goat curry was spicier than I expected. Overall, I think this is a great lunch spot for the thali lunches but there are definitely better Indian spots in the area.

We've been coming to Swagat for years and have always loved the food. The prices have gone up post- Covid but the variety in their Thali is delicious. We always get the chicken Thali with extra tandoori chicken - which used to be $1 each, but now they are $2 each piece. We really wish they would bring the buffet back! We would be here twice a week if they did that. Service is always fairly quick and friendly.

My husband and I stopped at Swagat for lunch while visiting Hillsboro. There was quite a line for a table because there was only one person seating people (as far as I could tell). This is a beautiful restaurant, by the way, in a very lovely neighborhood. Our waiter was amazing. We ordered vegetable samosas, aloo gobi, chicken kadai, and naan. We were a little surprised at the smaller portion sizes compared to the higher prices, but everything was bursting with flavor and we have no regrets.

    Stylish atmosphere at Swagat Orenco.

I've eaten the lunch buffet at the Orenco Swagat several times over the years and always left with the same impression. The atmosphere is stylish and comfortable. The service ranges from pleasant to indifferent. The food is mediocre at best. Swagat has three locations, Orenco, Beaverton and on Lovejoy street in Portland. The Orenco location is conveniently located near my workplace and that's why I continue to visit them. But there is far better Indian food all over the Portland area. The lunch buffet does not include any soft drinks or chai. It has very few vegetarian items and what is there isn't memorable. The best thing about Orenco Swagat is the nice atmosphere. But when you're hungry the atmosphere won't help you. I do not recommend visiting this place.

Came for their weekend lunch buffet and wasn't terribly impressed. Food was decent, especially their mushroom korma and opo squash. Tandoori chicken was comparable to other places. However, the naan needed salt and there were only a few meat options (including a chicken biryani), which didn't justify the $13.95 price tag. Service was also lackluster. There was initially no one in the front of house and we were literally looking for someone to seat us. The bus person also wasn't friendly. He topped off my brother's water glass, but missed mine (which was nearly empty). When I asked him for a refill, he just looked at me and didn't say a word as he finally filled my glass. With so many other options for Indian lunch buffets in the area, I'll look elsewhere for better experiences and value in the future.

Dal makhni, shahi paneer, naan and rice.

Horrible pricey food served by an inattentive service! Bread rolled, fried and dipped in watery syrup was served as gulab jamun. Runny, water like gravy for shahi paneer, that there was nothing shahi about the dish. The supposed to be creamy dal makhni felt stale and flavorless. I previously visited the restaurant in Portland with not to be remembered experience. However, this one is so bad that we decided not to visit them or their sister branch again. They don't have an order to serve food on every table. Water cups, or food is placed haphazardly and the same dish would be served in different/bigger containers on the table next to you, when they claim to be in fine dinning space for Indian food. Water soaked gulab jamun or shahi paneer put questions about their food preparations. I would refrain and you should avoid them too. For better Indian flavors, visit dil se or hello India. I know, these places are far, but at least they are worth your money.

The staff are friendly. There is a big variety of Vegetarian & non-Vegetarian dishes to try out in the buffet. As expected, typical buffets, make it mild than usual Indian style hot and spicy :) It would be nice to include the Tea than pop drinks to go with the Indian theme. The place is very spacious and clean. We went with a big group of 20+ friends and were give separate tables so we can all sit together. I liked the 3 different desserts (the Mango custard seems to be off that day but the other 2 Semiya payasam and Carrot halwa were pretty good) in the buffet, its a good surprise that they were not the usual Gulab Jamun etc. I hope they can add some spicy flavors and rotate some of the dessert options.

Ganesh was located on my way home so I have always wanted to give it a try. The first impression was alright. It's a quiet restaurant with lot of seating inside. The staff quickly greeted us and told us to help ourselves, and we did. After settling into our table, we went straight to the buffet. You will find a few selections for each dish in the buffet, there were a few deep fried dishes, a few curry selections and a few desserts as well. At Ganesh, you will find a mini salad bar and free fountain drinks as well. My favorite items were the roasted chicken, warm Indian-style donuts and the yogurt salad. Overall, we were glad trying out Ganesh. Even though we still love our favorite place, we appreciate the opportunity to compare different Indian buffets in town.

When we were ordering, there seemed to be a little bit of a language barrier. I wanted veggie salad rolls and my sister wanted to order salad rolls with shrimp. He brought one order of the veggie salad rolls and placed between us. So my sister reiterated that she wanted shrimp, and I think he finally understood. Soon he was back with her shrimp salad rolls. They tasted fresh and it was just what I needed for an extremely hot day!

He asked the kitchen and they said yes but I ended up getting rice noodles instead anyway, I was just curious for the future. The rice noodles were pad Thai noodles and not the thin, vermicelli ones. My other question was, "Can I get the hot pot while my friend gets the pho?" You can't do this (not the AYCE option), which is understandable and fine, so she showed me the menu where you can get the Mongolian soup with all the hot pot broths and proteins. I've had hot pot in Vancouver, BC and asked for their spiciest, and it was the spiciest thing I've ever eaten a full meal of. So I got the medium spice and it wasn't spicy at all. And in fact, it was so bland, I saw there was salt on the table after I had finished and I thought, "That's what this was missing... salt!" The flavor was so non-existent it didn't even seem like they used salt. Which makes me sad. I wonder if the sweet and spicy broth had any flavor. The only thing I liked about the entire soup (I got the beef and meatballs and added pork belly) were surprisingly the meatballs, when I thought that sounded the least appealing. My friend said she enjoyed her pho, but I don't think I would even come back here to find out if I did too, and I work 3 minutes away. Also, they must have moved because the pictures of the outside have changed and there is no karaoke stage anymore. When I walked in at 6pm on a Wednesday, I was the first one there. Only two other tables showed up. It pains me to see people pour their hearts out into owning a restaurant only for it to be empty, but I sadly could also see why. It was nothing personal. Just lacking in quality taste. I wish them the best though, can't be easy to run a restaurant.
