Mixed pakora, veggie samosa, butter chicken, dal tadka, paneer makhani, rice, and butter naan

On a return trip from the coast, we found this fabulous new-to-us place via Yelp. It was lucky we were out because, previously, searching from home, 185th & Indian did not show up in the results, so hooray for being out and about and discovering them! This was our first family Indian food since we moved here from the East Bay. We loved our family favorite in Livermore and had been eating there for over 25 years, so we have been circumspect about finding a new place. 185th & Indian not only filled our stomachs with delicious food but also our hearts with joy, having found what could be our new family favorite for years to come. The restaurant is inviting and cozy. We look forward to dining in next time, but we ordered to go since we had our dogs with us and they needed their dinner after a long day running at the beach. :) For our maiden order, we chose butter chicken (a family favorite), veggie samosas, mixed pakora, dal tadka (hubby's fave is dal makhani), paneer makhani, rice, and naan. The guy who took our order asked us about our spice level. We were going to go medium, but he asked when we last had Indian food, and we said about 6 months (OMG, SIX MONTHS?! I'm not sure how we survived). He recommended we go mild this time. We took that guidance and had the most delightful meal. Everything was incredibly flavorful. The mixed pakora were the best I've had, and the butter chicken was like coming home. We look forward to many more meals from 185th & Indian

Service: 7/10 nice people, we got it to go and they were very kind. Ambiance: 4/10 it's a bit stale. No decor. Food: 6/10 Garlic naan: 7/10 very garlicy and nice texture Tikka Masala: 5/10 the thickness was spot on (not watered down). flavor was unique bc of bell peppers. Didn't love that flavor combo as it's a bit overpowering. There was also whole pieces of onion which obviously went well. One of the onion pieces were chewy (bc it was likely an outer part of the onion that shouldn't have gone in there). But the sadest part that while there was a good amount of chicken, it was unfortunately overcooked. All in all, I think the people working there are kind. But I would go back to try new things but I wouldn't choose this place for Tikka Masala.

This was a great experience visiting 185th and Indian!! I was horrible and showed up 30 minutes before closing and was offered a table and was very grateful after a long day.. We really enjoyed our Tikka masala and Veggie Samosas was even checked on to make sure the music wasnt too loud and then provided with a free Mango Lassi which was delicious! So full writing this review, terrible photo but AMAZING food!

Needed a warm butter chicken on a cold winters night. This restaurant has great reviews! The atmosphere and ambiance is nothing special, and I was particularly turned off by the super strong cleaning spray used while we were eating. The service was a bit spotty, they never got us more lukewarm water. But if you can just ignore all that (and you can), then stay for the delicious food. The garlic Naan was perfectly cooked with butter and garlic, the fun appetizer of punugulu was so tasty... fried fritters with dipping sauces. One yogurt based and one more spicy. The butter chicken was spicy and amazing! Pro tip, we ordered mild and it's still spicy, so if you can't handle any heat let them know. Choose the layered Konaseema chicken biriyani dish. It was stuffed full and delicious and Nicky nicely flavored. The chai and samosa appetizer was good but the samosa was stuffed with pickled veggies that were not great. The chai was amazing! Bottom line, ignore the atmosphere and stay for the amazing food!

Hands down best butter chicken around town. Consistently great flavorful food. Good service. The naan is also top tier and the korma! Our favorite Indian place for sure. We just keep coming back for more. Keep it up

Updated in April 2026…read more We came to Desi Bite's new location for lunch. The dining area is much smaller than the previous location. The shop was quiet with some customers picking up to go orders. We went to the counter and ordered two non-veg (chicken) thali plates, a mango lassi and a chai masala. I also asked to confirm that they don't have their buffet anymore. While we were waiting, we noticed that most of the tables were dirty with food smudges and left over trash presumably from the day before since it had just opened. I tried to clean our table with paper napkins and water with little effect. So we decided to just deal with it. My husband went to the restroom to wash his hands and told me the restroom was in need of cleaning as well. As our food came. We noticed the sides on the thali plates were different too. They used to have two side dishes with cucumber, tomato, onion and crackers. The new plates were more plain, not bad, but not the same variety. The food tasted pretty good, I noticed the curries were spicer as well. That makes us wonder if there was a change of ownership/management once Desi Bites moved. It's such a shame the Desi Bites we remembered is gone..
