Self guided rafting or inner tubing on 6 miles of the Delaware River. We parked upriver and walked across the street to get our briefing and the rafts. It's early July after a large storm and the river is full. There are some rapids but they're small that little kids might consider fun. There are pockets with slow moving water perfect for a swim. If you're into strong rapids, this is not for you. I would say come for the tubing as it's slow moving or just go with your life jacket and float down. read more

Our first "river activity" with the family was checked off the list when we camped at Indian Head Canoes! It was actually a fun experience! There was a little mishap with booking and I cant be sure who's error it was, our or theirs but anyway it got resolved easily. Turns out our booking was made only for 2 nights instead of 3. We managed to book the 3rd night but we had to move to a different tent site. Good thing it wasnt too far away and we managed to just CARRY our already assembled tent from one site to the other. Alas! The reviews about noisy campers at night were true but luckily our experience only lasted until 11pmish to 12midnight instead of 2am lol and only happened for one friday night which was tolerable. Anyway, the grounds were well kept and tent sites were close to shower rooms and their shop. Each tent site also has a rinsing area, tables and fire rings. I cant say much for the cabins altho there should be more info online. It was great that pets were allowed in tent sites and can go with you on your river trips. Speaking of the river activities, you should know that when you book your stay here, you are also required to book a river activity and can choose to use their canoes, kayaks or rafts. FYI the rafts get booked quick! You are exempted to join if you have a small child to watch over of course. River trip lengths also, obviously, depends on where you start. Ours was only an hour activity and most of my companions said that was enough. I didnt mind a little more extension time though. Since the rafts were all out during our stay there, we chose to use the canoe for 3 and kayak for 2. The waters were family-friendly as it usually stayed steady and easy with occasional mild rapids. It is a unique experience so i'm not entirely surprised the review ratings varied so much. But come check the place out yourself. Who knows you'll have great experience too! read more

we had a fantastic experience, what a great social distancing activity! the river was not difficult so even with a family of 3 you can get your own raft (which apparently was easier than canoe). the river was described as lazy river, you can relax on the raft and paddle when you like. River was calm so you can jump in and just swim as well or pull the raft over anywhere to the side and enjoy the river a bit more. You are also allow to bring a cooler as it is a large size raft (i didn't bring any but beer is fine too!). we actually tethered our raft together with another raft with carabiner so we can talk to friends more while maintaining social distance :P read more

We got the Davy Crockett cabin because it slept 4-6 people for me and my girlfriend. Although I didn't see any real pictures of the cabin, I assumed it would accommodate if it slept that many. What we didn't know was that it was literally six twin bunkbeds so that was a bit of a shock. Luckily we brought our air mattress which fit perfectly in the middle of the bunks after moving the heater. The bad news was the mattress had a hole in it ‍ So, in order for us to sleep together, we took all six twin size mattresses off of the bunks and laid them on the floor to make a full size bed. The mattresses did have stains on them so we just threw the deflated air mattress on top to use as a sheet and believe it or not we slept extremely well. I thought the campground itself was pretty small, but it was also clean. There's charcoal grills, which was just enough to make us dinner. There was a lot of people there because it was during the summer but we had a big group as well and hung out at the bunkhouses with the rest of the group. As for the actual water trip, we were supposed to go tubing, but the water was too high so we had to switch to Rafts. We loaded up our coolers and hopped in and had a great time. Although I had a good time, I probably won't be going again because it was so expensive for a couple. If your group has a bunch of single people or a bunch of buddy's that don't mind twin beds and can split a house this is perfect read more

Where do I even begin with this place. I have been camping all my life and I can easily say this was the WORST camping experience I have ever had!! I arrived to the campground around 7pm on Friday July 31st. I was so excited as the drive in was beautiful and I was ready for some fresh air and all the joys camping brings. When I got to my site, I noticed the site was right beside the road but did not think much of it since the traffic was pretty quiet at this time. The next concern was the large group of people camped below us, mostly younger kids, throwing a party like it was college spring break. They were yelling and blasting loud music. But pretty much every site was competing with music and loudness at this point.  After 11 was when the true fun really started. The parties continued well into the night with some being heard well after 2am. At about 12 am we got a firework show, but mainly just the ones that make your ears ring, like m80s, being set off 2 campsites away from you really puts me in the relaxation mood. They scared everyone at my campsite and I could even hear some young children crying after they went off. oh and how could I forget the beautiful lasers lighting up the trees..who needs a starry sky when you have lasers? I am not sure what time I was finally able to fall asleep but was awakened around 6am by the sound of the cars zooming past on the road as well as the peaceful hum of Harley's enjoying a scenic cruise.  After some debate with my friends we decided we should try to find somewhere else to stay or just go home, not worth the money to stay somewhere you are completely uncomfortable. We spoke with Bonnie at the office that morning and she showed us a few sites that were available on the other side of the road. These sites offered no privacy from other sites and we felt we would be in the same situation if we stayed. My friends decided they would stick around for our kayaking trip and leave after. My boyfriend and I figured we would tough it out for the night.  We got on the water that day hoping to turn the weekend around....but immediately I felt regret. There were so many people in rafts that the whole experience was uncomfortable. Again all of these people were partying, clearly getting wasted, yelling, and lacking any respect for anyone else around them. I was disgusted. We all signed a contract, we all should be held responsible. While some of these rafts were from the other company, Kittatinny, a warning would have been nice. the scenic river highlights included women flashing their boobs, dudes throwing up along the river, and even one group throwing rocks up into a tree to get a bald eagle to fly and make some noise. One group even politely said hello to us followed by a "go fuck yourselves" for no reason. Needless to say after this experience we were all upset, disgusted, and extremely disappointed. I have never experienced anything like this. Just blatant disrespect for anyone else who may be there to actually enjoy nature and some relaxation! When we returned to our site we all packed up and left. I stopped in the office to discuss being refunded for the night I was not staying and they told me I would have to call to speak to someone about a refund and there was nothing else they could do. I called the next day and was told the same thing by Bonnie that there was nothing they could do for a refund, that the security reported zero issues with noise or partying, and they placed all the blame on the other campground and COVID causing the crowds. Bonnie gave me some positive reinforcement though and told me to "suck it up" and maybe come back to stay with them in the fall. Why yes, I cannot wait to give you more of my money for another fantastic weekend. On their website they talk about being family owned, making wonderful memories, enjoying the sounds of crickets at night, and being what camping is all about. This experience was far from any of that. This was a pure party site. Between the misleading photos, the misleading site map, and the misleading "who we are" statement do yourself a favor and find ANYWHERE else to camp. You will be thankful you did. Unless this sounds like your style of a place...if so party on Wayne. read more

We did our research and ended up choosing Indian Head for our last-minute tubing excursion. The Barryville staff was polite and helpful, the gear was in good shape, prices were reasonable, and the experience overall was awesome. We didn't need a reservation although it's recommended, but they were accommodating when we called and broke down the types of trips. Def call the day of in case. I'd recommend renting a cooler raft as it's legit, you'll be able to fit your full-size cooler or bags in it (The competition down the river makes you buy one of those small, round Amazon specials ) The river can get a little slow at points so I would ask if they have oars or bring a couple paddles. Also don't buy those cheap water shoes on Amazon, definitely splurge for quality ones, the rocks did a number on my feet. If you want to go camping - AVOID THIS PLACE If you want a ghetto music festival experience from hell - COME ON DOWN The one night we spent before leaving early the next day included highlights such as: *3-4 large groups (10-20 people) partying till 4AM like it was the last day of Burning Man. *Horrible competing EDM "DJ sets" being blasted from sound systems until 4AM. Each "camp" seemed to take it as a challenge to play their own music louder in an attempt to drown out the others *Laser light LED shows till 4AM *people just screaming "Woooooooooo" like Rick Flair till 4AM *People puking inside and oustide the 2 port a potties that were there for a "camp" of about 200 people. *People stealing other "camp sites" fire rings and picnic tables because "its already 4PM if they are not here yet whatever" I could go on, but if after reading this you are still thinking "brah I mean that doesnt sound that bad. Kind of sounds dope this guy must be a lame" Then maybe Indian Head is the right "campground" for you! P.s. No, this was not a one off experience. Read through some other reviews. At least we didnt have the fireworks on the night we stayed there! read more

Made a reservation to go rafting the day after July 4. Office registration is smooth thanks to the incredibly friendly and helpful staff. 3 adults and 2 children under 9 in 1 raft. We chose the 3-mile trek. We were driven to the starting point where our raft was waiting for us. After a quick and informative safety lecture, we were off. The views are incredible, especially of the Roebling Bridge. There is an area on the PA side, right where the Zane Grey museum is, where you can park the raft and relax for a few. (You can pull over at nearly any point on either river bank, but this is especially a good place to do so). When we made it to the drop off spot (same place as the office), our names were checked off the list and we were good to go! All equipment must be returned by 6pm! 12pm is the latest launch time. We stretched the 3-mile trek over 4 hours. In addition to 5 ppl in 1 raft, we had a small Coleman cooler and 2 bags with our essentials- plenty of room. Even so, next time we'll try to spring for 2 rafts. Essentials: good quality water shoes, sunscreen, bug spray, snacks, water, hat with a brim, sunglasses, dry clothes (keep in the car), towels (2-4 per raft, as a buffer between skin and the raft plastic which gets scorching hot after only a few minutes in the sun), and COVID face masks (for the office and van ride). Terrible Experience, will NEVER go back This place just wants your money and has that "well, you're sh*t out of luck" attitude. Besides their coin operated showers that smell like rotten eggs, their extremely close campgrounds and little dirt patches they call "roads" to separate the grounds. The lack of security and customer support was really the deal breaker. First of all, after checking in, reception just handed us a piece of paper and said goodbye. Had to circle around a couple of time before having to go back in and asked, "Hey, would you be able to give us a general direction of where we are going? It is our first time here" The lady then said, "it's across the street." OK, so we went across the street and drove around like idiots until we were lucky enough to run into someone from our group. She could have taken the extra 30 seconds to say, "It's across the street, second left, you should see the sign". Like wow, 2 minutes in and I can give better directions then the staff? I understand that noise is something that happens and is not really the camp ground's fault. However, I have stayed in multiple campsites around the area and they at least communicated and tried to accommodate their paying customers. The situation: A near by campground was basically throwing their own festival with music so loud it was shaking our tents until about 5am all weekend. We complained after the first night to security, and by security I mean the one time someone drove around in a golf cart all weekend. He said he would talk to the other campground's security, and of course no where to be found after that one sighting. The second night was even worse, they were not only throwing their own festival but decided to have their own firework show at 2,3 and 4am. My issue with Indian Head Canoe: Their "security" was absolutely no where to be found. I was at Kittatiny last year (down the road) and they at least had a security guard patrolling periodically throughout the night. They also gave us a number to call and told us what to say if there were any issues. Like, what if there was an actual problem? We had to take it upon ourselves to call the police. When we went to complain in the morning when trying to check out, it's like they had earmuffs on and said "the owner said there is nothing that can be done" not even an apology, not even a $50 credit (which is nothing in comparison to what was paid). I went back into the actual registration building and started complaining out loud while people were checking in and wow what a surprise! I got their attention. A manager came out and asked me to step outside, I wanted to stay inside so the following customers can hear what they are getting into, but it's not the managers fault so I didn't take it out on her. Bottom line, there are much better campsites within a couple miles. Do not support their business because they sure as heck don't care about their customers, AT ALL. read more

Horrible family run business! Disrespectful, rude, and full blown nasty people. Rented rafts for 23 family members, waited almost an hour to be driven to the launch place. Once there, no rafts we're awaiting us. After waiting 30 min under the sun and watching other buses bring people along with their rafts launching. Away. I asked why are we waiting, only to be yelled at. "You gotta wait, or you can go back abs get your refund" no apology for the inconsideration on their part. Driver continued yelling in front of all the customers and said I don't care if you don't like it. We don't need your business. We don't care if you write us up, we'll still be here. We're not giving you anybody's name, we're a family run business, you want complain about one complain about all. So much for any common courtesy as a business for their customers. The actual experience was not worth the 45$ they charged. Not their fault the river was moving quickly but they lied and said a 3 mile tour would take 2.5 hours regularly, with the speed it would take almost 2 hours. We were there less than an hour. When I stated that at the end, another guy (no name tags) said well that's too bad. Again, beyond disappointed in their response abs reaction to their mistakes and their complete disregard for their paying customers. Don not recommend at all. Booked a week in advance for tubing and got an email the day before saying they were canceling tubing for the day I was going due to the river height. I could either switch to rafting or cancel. My group switched to rafting. There was 8 of us and it came out to $51.84 per person. It was raining when we went but there was still a good number of rafts out. There are 3 other companies in close proximity to here. We got on the river quick and with no problems. You take off from the same area as the office and are picked up by bus down the river. We did the 9 mike trip and it took about 3 hours. There's another location in maramortis or something named along those lines. read more

I saw a fellow mom post about how great their river trip was and decided to take my kids on a camping trip as well as river rafting. I knew she was referring to their other location. Being this is the middle of a pandemic I guess I expected too much out of the cabins. They were gross. And being the girl at the front made it a point to say I needed to return the cabin clean and in one piece I should have mentioned to her when I left I needed money back for cleaning as much as I did. I get it's a cabin, but even when there is no Covid around you expect a place cleaner than this. The door handle to the cabin was dirty, grime on both sides of the door. The floor was grimy. I found out wiping what my kids spilled. The bathroom smelled of urine. Bad. Black mold along the shower. Mold along all the windows. Mold in the AC unit. Not going back! I can't believe I spent so much money to inhale so much mold. Only good part was the river trip. Next time??? Maybe I'm heading out of Matamoras, hopefully the girls at the front won't be so rude and unwelcoming & NO camping. Very disappointed. Btw, I did mention the place was gross. No one cared. read more

We booked online (with a credit card) and despite this, we were made to stand in LONG line, complete more forms and pay in person. Could you figure out a way to avoid this now that we are all trying our best to socially distance. Also the company claims to require masks but 1. most of the staff was wearing a mask pulled down to only cover the mouth (it doesn't work people unless it covers your nose too!) and 2. about half the people on the bus ride to the launch site took their masks off once they boarded the bus (driver needs to make an announcement that the masks are required for the duration of the trip.) read more

I come here every year for my birthday for the last 10+ years. I am always welcomed with open arms! The staff here are incredibly nice, they go above and beyond to make me feel special. My friends have a blast every time they come and look forward to marking off their calendars for the following year. The bathrooms and grounds are kept clean. The cabin crowd was quite loud with music and fireworks well after the 11pm quiet hour. The management had a cest la vie attitude when noise complaints were made (I suppose the cabin fees are their gravy after all). I'm sure it was quieter within the cabin doors but for tent camping sleeping was not at all peaceful despite nice proximity to the babbling river. The river trip portion was fine, typical of all the other canoe/raft/tube outfits in the area. I've been to the area for decades but unlikely to return here for a night. I made my reservation at 1pm, injured my shoulder the same day during another activity, called to cancel hours later only to be told I would be charged $10 per person. They need to let you know before the reservation that if you canceled there is a fee, had they done that I wouldn't have made a reservation. No worries, there are plenty of upfront and honest businesses that also rent canoes. Nothing special here...just lackluster customer service and a need to scam patrons to make a quick buck. read more

Everything was clean, well maintained and the staff was always pleasant, nice and helpful. This was the first rafting trip for my young boys (10 & 12) and it was a perfect introductory river for them as we did both the 3mi & the 6mi tours. A lot of fun and a great price. Horrible management, customer service and organization. Reservations do not mean a thing. The operatin was run by a buch of teenagers that honestly wound up in tears due to frustration. The "manager" was nearly a hundred and so rude. They kept us waiting for hours!! They bad mouthed other local rafting companies when they should have referred us to another company because they could not handle a sunny summer day. After waiting for hours we finally smartend up got our money back and went next door to kittatiny rafting and our large group was out on the river with in minutes. read more

Came up to Indian Head for a few nights on the tail end of Hurrricane Ernesto over Labor Day Weekend. Came for the combo of camping and river activities. I was strongly encouraged when the waiver for the rafting we did included the phrase "alcohol permitted in moderation". A backpack full of Coors Light and we were on our way. The only problem with the river trip itself was that I think we could have crawled the four miles faster than the Delaware carried us. We all had to pee so badly by the end, it slightly tainted the trip. Also, since all of the wood was wet from the recent hurricane, we tried to buy wood at the general store... which was also wet. I used all of my Boy Scout training but still couldn't get it to light. We went down the road and bought a few logs from a guy selling them out of his truck, which were much better. All in all, an enjoyable experience, good general store, pretty friendly people. Be forewarned - all of the water in the bathrooms (including the showers) smelled like rotten eggs (sulfur, I know). Didn't really feel clean after my shower. It's camping, though, part of the experience. read more

I stayed here with my friends last weekend and we were hoping for a relaxing, peaceful, quiet camping weekend with some fun kayaking during the day. When we arrived into the parking lot we were worried that we would have to walk really far to find our friend who was already set up at the campsite. Not to worry. Our campsite was NOT ONLY right next to the parking lot, but also the 45 mph main road. Okay, so one issue, but we figured we would still get a good night's sleep because who would put a campsite 7 feet (no exaggerations) off a man road? This cheap ass place. We pitched our tents and noticed how close we were to the other groups. It was weird and inappropriate for covid/social distancing standards, but also just for general camping to be RIGHT on top of other groups. There was a rave of some 20 year olds partying below us and a large family group 5 feet away from our tent. The night was filled with barking dogs, crying babies, explosive fire works (not fun little sparklers, these were EARTH SHAKING), snoring neighbors because they were basically their tent was basically touching ours, and zooming cars and motorcycles. The curfew was 11 Am on paper but 7 am in real life. We are a group of 30 something year olds and are down to party, but this was just absurd. If we wanted a loud crazy crowded experience we would've just stayed in Brooklyn. The next morning we told the people at the front desk about the fireworks and the noise and they said that we should've told security. How did security not hear the booms at 2 am? Where were they? Do yourself a favor and go camping somewhere else. Even if you're looking for a loud music rager, this is not the spot - it's the most pitiful, tacky, and commercialized excuse for a camping spot and you'd be better off searching hipcamp or a state park. We were a group of mixed levels of camping experience (from never to expert) and we all agreed this was the trashiest, noisiest, Least-campy camping spot ever. I almost forgot - Kayaking the next day was not worth it. Crowds of young 20 year olds shitfaced yelling at us and the river was so crowded. Bleh. We speeded back home the next day after kayaking and never slept better. I think any trip I take after this camping trip will be amazing. Setting the bar this low makes anything else look incredible. Do not come here if you are looking for a quiet, family friendly camping experience. We were meant to stay two nights and do a river cruise. Our daughters were so excited about it all, but after our first night's experience we packed up and headed home. Our campsite was surrounded by large camp parties of at least 20-30 people in each. No social distancing was practiced and there were only two very dirty port-a-potties for the entire campsite. Each party brought large speakers to blast music that they played until 4am and one campsite had a light show into the trees playing. Men cut down branches in the woods with axes and dragged them through our campsite. One campsite had 5 dogs in a cage that barked all night. Children and adults yelled and talked until the wee hours. The next morning the campsites were strewn with beer cans and trash. There were so many tents that it resembled a tent city--not the serene wooded campground we all know and love. Thankfully, they agreed to give us a full refund. Save your money and find a nicer experience. read more

NEVER AGAIN! Against my better judgement, I agreed to go camping this 4th of July weekend at the Indian Head Canoes Brookside campsite in Barryville, NY. Although hesitant, I thought camping would be outside and therefore adequately socially distant, and they claimed to be taking mitigation measures. Although the staff did wear masks and the website said masks were required in public areas, almost NO ONE else wore them except in the office/store and it seemed like everything else was business as usual. And business as usual was the worst camping experience ever! The campsite was still filled to 100% capacity, with campsites piled on top of each other. Every campsite seemed to have 12-20 people in it and all tents were literally inches away from the tents and tables in the next campsite. I camp often and I have never experienced such rude, loud and inconsiderate campers! The group across from us brought a generator and hung a flood light to light up their spot, as well as half the campground. The light was glaring in our faces all night! We were surrounded by groups with huge speakers, blasting music all day and night. The music played and people were yelling and screaming and lighting fireworks until 4 am both nights. Security asked them to turn it off at midnight the first night, which they did...until they drove away. Then they put it back on, until 3 am! By 8 am, it was back on, blasting a song with f*&# being yelled out every other word. All weekend, people we just walking through our campsite to get to the bathrooms or sinks instead of walking around! The bathrooms were 2 sets of men/women porta johns for the 300 people in the campground and were only cleaned once a day- when a big truck pulls in to clean them at 7 am. Honestly, if I wasn't with some friends that were excited for the weekend, I would have turned around and gone home. read more

I saw the erratically mixed reviews from both yelp and tripadvisor and was a bit wary but our trip was wonderful. My group and I booked a trip at the Indian Head Canoe for the July 4th weekend (3 nights minimum and river activity was required ). We were at Knights Eddy campground, tent site #5 which was along the river. The campsite was clean (albeit missing a picnic table which should have been there. Next time we're gonna make sure to request it and be adamant about having a table. Table is necessary!) and the view was good. Because our trip was after Hurricane Arthur, the water was very brown so we didn't get a chance to swim but there is easy access to the river from our tent site. It was also next to the port-a-potty which is a gift and a curse. The garbage from the tent-site was frequently cleaned by the staff which is awesome because it doesn't take long for the trash to overflow. The office (where they sell basic camping items, water, ice, and firewood) closes at 6pm so be sure to stock up on what you need for the night especially firewood and ice. To book the reservation, we were required to pay a deposit which is the cost of the first night camping for everyone attending. We also brought with us a small dog, a Shih-Tzu, and we didn't have any trouble with the staff or campers. The campsite, although, along the river is also along the road so it can get noisy (car passing sounds) at night and especially when the morning comes. Birds too. They are definitely nature's alarm clock. I also noticed there was alot of complaint about the staff at Indian Head Canoe. I must have been very lucky because almost every staff member I encountered at Indian Head Canoe was very accommodating and pleasant especially the young man staffed at the Knights Eddy office. The only headache I had was finding our campsite. There are so many campsites and river accesses scattered all over for Indian Head Canoe and it took us almost 1.5 hrs to find the right campsite. Even though we stopped at several Indian Head Canoes trying to find the site, everyone's attempt at giving us directions was "drive 15 miles and you'll see a sign". There is no GPS, no cell signals and no maps (at least none given to us) so we really had to find the campsite the good ol fashion way: by wasting gas. Also, after our river trip we thought we had told someone that we needed a transport to take us back to our campsite but that was never relayed to anyone else so we ended up waiting 30 minutes for a bus that was never called. Eventually we went into the office and they called up the transport for us. I don't expect a perfect system so I advise everyone to always follow-up for yourself. But all in all, we had a good inexpensive 4th of July camping trip! For all the city folks (like me), set your tent under the stars for that beautiful star filled sky or set your tent under the trees for shade from the strong morning sun. read more

We spent $1600+ for 2 nights and a river trip. Absolute terrible customer service. They allowed a large group to enter the campground at 2am who partied loudly until 6am. Security did nothing to stop them. Campground rules state that quiet time is from 11pm to 7am. Around 11:15pm a man came to our site and threatened physical harm on our group for enjoying ourselves a bit loudly. Security came to our site and said that the complaining group was rude and nasty to him, as well as the office staff, and not to worry because our group was just fine. The security officer stayed and chatted with our group for about a half hour with no other issue. The next afternoon we went to check in for our river trip and were blindsided as they tried to extort $1000 CASH from us because they refunded the same family who threatened us. They actually had the nerve to say "you must've been so loud to make him mad enough to threaten you". They told us we had to pack our site then we could go on our river trip which gave us no time for the actual river trip. They didn't care about our side of the story. The owner just told us these are your options, take it or leave it. *Their contract states that no refund will be given if you decide to leave early.* The staff told us that they made up the $1000 deposit policy and having to pay for their loss in revenue that morning. Absolute BS! The police even told management what they were trying to do to us was wrong. Then they changed their tune to "only" wanting $500 and would allow it to be on a credit card. NOT happening! They will never get another dollar from me or any other person in our group. BIG LOSS! Save yourself the aggravation and go somewhere that has actual bathrooms and doesn't charge to use the shower. read more

Family friend bought a raft from Indian Head last week for $1000 dollars. The manager was extremely rude when asked for oar's to go with the purchase wanted $50 more. Stay away save yourself a headache and go somewhere else. read more

AVOID THIS PLACE AT ANY COSTS! Absolutely ridiculous policies! IT"S A TRAP!!! I made a reservation one week in advance, and did not get any confirmation! I called a few times, left a voice mail, no response. Finally, I got a someone from the reservation on a line to ask about my reservation. I mentioned that there was a possibility of thunderstorm according to the weather report. The person responded to me that they don't go by the weather forecast, and only cancel if actual thunderstorm is happening. I mentioned to her I don't want to take chances and asked her to move our reservation by one week. She slapped me with the company policy, and told me that I need to pay a cancellation fee. I told her that I was not cancelling but rather asking her to move reservation to a different day. I didn't want to drive for 2 hours with my kids to see whether they will be closed or not. So, we got into an argument, and person in reservation just hang up on me, and put me on the bad list! She also made up the story for her supervisor and i tried to call a few times to resolve the situation - no one is answering! This is a joke! AVOID THIS PLACE and don't ruin your weekend! read more

We were in a cabin - the cabin was clean and spacious although I thought that there was a bit of false advertisement with the Pine Lodge 'set in the Pine trees' - they neglected to mention that our cabin is right by the main road and you could hear the street traffic at night. The younger staff had no concept of client service but my main complaint was that the water in the cabin smelt like sewage! I have recently been diagnosed with Giardiasis which I have been told is contracted from contaminated untreated water and working back from when the symptoms first surfaced - I can only attribute it to the disgusting water in the cabin. Some of the other people in the other cabins were complaining about this as well and instead of using the in-cabin showers - they actually paid extra money to shower in the on-site cabins for $1/min. The only thing we did enjoy was our rafting trip. Definitely not coming back here. read more

I think this weekend is the 4th time I am going to IHC with my neighbors we do this every year. I can say nothing but great things about them, their staff is excellent and the site is always clean and peaceful. There is security at night time (an actual police offer) I have never had a bad experience and I travel 4 hours to get there knowing I will have a great experience. read more

What a horrible place. Not the river -- it's great, but Indian Head Canoes grounds and staff are repulsive. We were there to celebrate my son's birthday. When we called for reservations, they said it's not necessary they have plenty of rafts. When we got there, the first thing they asked if we had reservations and were very displeased that we didn't, even though, like they said - there were plenty available. One of the families in our party was running late and there is no cell phone service (we had AT&T and Verizon). The nearest payphone is 2 miles away. Not their fault, but they wouldn't let us use their phone to make a call. As much as we tried to explain that if late family shows up while my husband is away searching for the payphone, we have no way of getting in touch with him. Anyway, while waiting for my husband, I went to use the bathroom and explore the grounds. What a filthy place! The bathrooms have a terrible smell, wet floors and not enough changing facilities. When I saw their campgrounds, I was certainly glad we were not staying there. Tents were next to parking lot, which is adjacent to the road. No view of the river. Cabins, and I use that word loosely, were less than 6 feet apart. The width of a cabin was less than a sedan parked in front of it. When we finally got on the water, the river was nice. There were a lot more rafts from other companies there, and I can see why. Next time, I'm going with one of them. read more

Terrible Management! Dog Discriminating! I am a huge dog lover and was very disappointed knowing that they did not allow my breed of dog. I first spoke to a woman on the phone and she said to me that there should not be an issue with bringing my breed of dog but she would need to confirm that with her manager. When a week went by I called and spoke to the manager, she did informed me that my breed of dog will not be allowed on the Camp Grounds. Hearing this unfortunate news I told her that I will not support her business. So if you are a proud owner of a German Sheppard, Pit Bull, Rottweiler or any type of Guard dog they unfortunately are not allowed at Indian Head Canoes. Also, after reading their reviews I am not sure if this is a place I would want to visit. read more

This was our first time. 3 adults in tubes with one cooler tube. Prices were fair. Called ahead 3 times the day before. First two were answered by a young lady who was very nice and helpful. Main concerns were answered. Let them know what you want and be specific so you can get as much info as possible. (Thanks for letting us know to be there by 10:30 AM via phone and website) I would have liked a Q & A page on the website so the questions I am sure a first timer wants to know are answered and you won't have to call as much...The rafts and canoes were covered on web page but not as much about tubes. My recommendations going forward to other costumers, come 30-45 min prior to bus leaving for drop point, to get everything sorted before you leave. No one likes feeling rushed. (We got up at 6 AM took train and car from Brooklyn. A later tubing drop point would have been nice. 12PM? We got in river at about 11 AM and finished by 3:30. This is for Indian Head.) Things necessary to bring: SUNBLOCK, water appropriate shoes (none of us were wearing good shoes and the pics on web site show bare feet), a cooler with any snacks or drinks, plastic bags for garbage (also they don't recycle so you may want to throw out plastic and cans later), your own heavy duty string or rope to tie your tubes together ( I think this could be encouraged on webpage but with a warning that your tube may get hung up on a rock. Although it isn't that hard to push off of...), plan to wait to change in their bathroom. There are only two toilets and if your modest like me, try to arrive in swim wear or annoy those waiting to pee while you do a balancing act in the stall to change, and lastly, if you have water protective device for your phone or camera - bring it because its absolutely breath taking with lovely rocks, forest & fauna, and teaming with wild life! (We saw two bald eagles, a crane, a stork, geese, a water snake and ducks. There are a few places you can cliff dive btw, located just after "Number Two bridge" I think it was called. Across from some place with "Farm" in the title. Please be careful though and make sure its deep enough where you plan to jump off. Also from what I hear the hot weekends in summer are a bit over crowded so maybe wait to the end of the season. We made two new friends on river that were local. One gave us a SUP (Stand Up Paddle board lesson! So sweet!) It was good to know the locals are friendly but don't bug them to use their bathroom or give you beer. Other things: Leave your belongings in the car because you will float to your car from drop point. They hold your keys at the office. If you have your own life vest use it. The life vests they provided stunk like cat pee or BO. Double check your tube is blown up to the most it can be and be careful not to unplug it as you are on the tube moving around. (I had the best tube as it was nicely blown up until I accidentally unplugged it. Thankfully my bf heard the hiss and I was okay.) This trip was great and I will do it again. Amazing trip and company. We go there every year with a big group. We went on the nine mile trip from Pond Eddy to Matamoras. Absolutely wonderful and worth the time. They have Free parking and great staff. Paul and Mary, two members of the staff, were very helpful. Every time I called their staff on the phone, they are super nice and helpful. They carefully explained how to stay safe while rafting. I would recommend Indian Head canoes to everyone and bring all your friends!!! read more

Went this weekend with wife and 3 boys. Next time we come to this area to camp and raft we will come back to Indian Head I would not go to Kittatinny or Landers. Every camp site company has very little privacy Indian Head seems to have a little more than the rest. We stayed on site 9c on the river a great spot to people watch all of the people float by, 9a and 9b are similar. Bath houses with real toilets not pot toilets, thank goodness, the showers are $.25 for a fairly long shower for $.25 more time. They say they charge to save water it's reasonable. Anyone that complains about their facility should not go camping it's all good to better than good and I don't think any camping facility can be great. If you want great get a hotel or cabin. They also have cabins that look pretty nice. The staff was always very nice and attentive at all times our wait for pick up to and from rafting was very short. A word about camping in that area. There is allot of partying going on at ALL campsites if you think your putting your kids to bed at 9:00 in a quite serene secluded campground you need to drive about 50 miles away!!! Indian Head was the most in control that I saw. Kittatinny is across the St and at 3:00AM when I went to the bathroom I could hear that place was loud and Saturday at 2:00 pm loud music lots of yelling if your 20 or 30 something go there you will have a great time and probably hook up. Landers: our site was next to their site if you want to call their place a site, I would call it a clearcut field with lots of tents, cars and 4 different stereos blasting. It looked like the parking lot of a concert not like a campsite. So if you enjoy: all day direct sun exposure, zero privacy, little view of the river and listening to 4 different songs at once go there. read more

Give people the trip they paid for ! We arrived yesterday at 9:45 ,a group reservation for 19 people for a 9 mile trip. We were greeted by a very aggressive parking attendant/employee who argued with us, stating that we all had to VENMO each other money and only ONE person was allowed to pay for the group of 19 people , CONTRARY to the information I was told when I booked the trip. Why should a customer have to Venmo people in their party , when you have a credit card machine available to easily process each family separate? After arguing with us in the parking lot for a half hour, I finally went in to make payments for each of the families in our group. As I stood at the counter, the girl says to me "oh so you're taking the 6 mile trip, right?" I said "no, we reserved the 9 mile trip". The aggressive parking lot guy then chimes in and says , "oh you missed bus, the last one left 10 minutes ago! IT WAS 10:45! We had been there an hour already AND we were previously told the last bus for the 9 mile trip left at 11:00 am!!! Obviously he just didn't feel like running another bus up to the 9 mile location! We reserved and PAID for a 9 mile run! We asked for a discount and he blew us off, stating that the 6 mile run was "way better" and that we'd be "happy" with the 6 mile run. Well we hesitantly agreed , what else were were going to do, after all there were almost 20 of us waiting to raft ! So off we went on the 6 mile run, which took approximately an hour and a half. We extended the day by pulling off the river and hanging out and making the best of the trip Indian Head cut short for us. We spent almost $1,000 yesterday between all of us and when I called to complain about the trip, Carly told me that there was nothing they could do for us. She said she would speak to the aggressive parking lot employee. Whoopee for us. We all feel we were bamboozled, deceived, and ripped off. I have been coming to Indian head for almost 2 decades. We've rented cabins and all. Never again. Oh I failed to mention that Carly also said "with everything going on in the world" they couldn't do anything for us! SERIOUSLY!? But you could take our 1000$ and cut our trip short and treat us like crap and we should excuse it because of all that's going on in the world! Unreal! Worst customer service I think I have ever experienced. Now more than EVER you should value people coming out to patronize your business! There are many other businesses who aren't so lucky to even be OPEN! read more
