The staff was friendly and welcoming. The campsites are well-spaced, and each spot comes with a picnic table. The bathrooms were well-maintained and clean, and the water temperature was warm enough for a comfortable shower. The camp also has a small store with all the essentials, and there's a Walmart and McDonald's nearby for anything you may need beyond that. They keep the area tidy, with clean trash bins and bags provided, and the trash is picked up in the morning. The only downside was the lack of night patrol. There were several loud parties making it difficult to sleep, though I understand this is more of an issue with guests not being considerate. Additionally, the site next to ours had a notably loud snorer, which made things a bit more challenging. Overall, I had a pleasant stay and would recommend Kittatinny K-Camp.

They still played the loud music and after 10pm continued to scream and make as much noise as possible. We nicely spoke to them ourselves as well but that didnt stop the noise. We werent able to relax and enjoy nature the entire 3 days, so we left a day early. I emailed twice and filled out the campgrounds survey, and no one has gotten back to me. Terrible customer service. They need security at night all times of the year to prevent this. I would never go back again because of that. You want, quit... look elsewhere. All reviews say the same thing it seems. Wish i would have looked first.

(This was a few months ago so the details could be a bit iffy.)…read more This was a very impromptu trip and everything at Edge of the Woods makes doing that easy. Head to the website, book the date & time you want and you're done. www.watergapadventure.com/river-trips A few things worth noting: They offer multiple trip lengths. The standard 4-, 6- and 10-mile trip (Smithfield to Portland) are all booked generically and then when you get there you tell them what you want to do. All pricing is the same which believe me compared to others companies, that's very different - in a good way. They do offer two other longer trips but those require calls to the main office I assume to assess river conditions; your own competency and shuttle availability. The main office in Delaware Water Gap is very easy to find and there was plenty of parking on a quiet post-Labor Day Monday. You check in, you're handed a laminated map, life jacket and given a brief route explanation and then you're off in the van. One problem arose and it was kind of a PIA but it was worked around. Most companies have different types/sizes/models of kayaks and quite often, will ask you what you prefer. Not here. When we left the office, the guy driving didn't say a word to me until we get to Smithfield Beach to unload. He had a few kayaks pre-loaded in the carrier but definitely did not look at them before we left. One of them had a broken foot pedal that he said couldn't be used, another was very much designed for a smaller individual (i.e. if you're taller and/or taller & larger it ain't happening safely) which only left two tandem models. Using a tandem as a single individual is not the end of the world but especially when the seats are still left in the two person configuration (i.e. one front and one back versus the rear one being placed more towards the middle), it's a PIA to maneuver the craft and you are paddling harder to get the job done compared to a single. The scenery along the route was decent. You could see a bit of the Shawnee Resort and Golf Course, an old stone bridge abutment in the middle of the river, under and along 80 and then when you get into the Water Gap itself with the high cliff sides. Very picturesque. Once you go under the old train viaduct in Portland, you give the office a call for the shuttle to meet you at the out point which is at the Portland Pedestrian Bridge. The whole experience was about four hours door to door to cover the ten miles on the water plus the shuttle to & from the pick up and drop off points. Lots of nice scenery, due to the low water level there wasn't much in the way of current except for the area around viaduqt in Portland and even that wasn't bad. I'm not a big fan of the equipment here but I wouldn't let that deter me from coming back in the future for one of their northern longer trips.

According to the radar and weather it was supposed to rain but it only drizzled which was doable. We parked at Matamoras so we ended there. The bus took us to our starting point. It was the perfect amount of time for us. We had a great time as we listened to music, chatted and had snacks and lunch. Next time, we want to go white water rafting somewhere! It was $280 for 5 people totally to $56 a person which was steep but we had a great time.

I think it's important to note for this story that we are both normal, healthy BMI, 30s women who work out regularly. We are not overweight or very inexperienced and we were not drunk when this happened. When they launched us into the river on the NY side and told us we'd have to make it to the PA side to get picked up, I knew it wasn't going to be a relaxing trip. Most river companies drop you off and pick you up on the same side because it can be very hard (or impossible) to cross the river in a tube without a paddle. For 2 hours, we truly struggled to get to the correct side of the river. The current was strong and not only could we not make it to the PA side, the current was constantly pushing us into trees and rocks on the riverbank on the NY side. We got out on the riverbank and relaunched twice. We got out of the tubes completely and swam twice. We stayed in the tubes and kicked as hard as we could (probably spent a full hour kicking). The best we ever did was get to the middle of the river. It was exhausting and we had maybe 20 minutes total of actual relaxation. When the trip was almost over, we knew we weren't going to make it over. My friend luckily had cell reception and called the company to ask what we should do, while I got out of the tube one last time and kicked as hard as I possibly could. As we passed the Indian Head pickup point, the worker on the riverbank saw us passing by and got in a kayak to come tow us back. As he got within shouting distance, he started yelling at us that we had do "do something!!! You can't just lay there!" despite me being in the water kicking. He continued to yell at us as he approached, asking why we didn't get on the correct side of the river. His anger surprised me and was completely unhelpful and rude. He towed us to shore and by that point we were maybe half a mile down from the pickup point so he asked us to carry his kayak paddle back for him, which we did, and he ran off. We claimed up through the bushes and started walking down the road, carrying our tubes and the paddle. The school bus spotted us about a quarter mile away and took us back to the dropoff point, where I went inside to check in our tubes. Immediately, the manager started asking me questions. "Why do you have a kayak paddle? Didnt they tell you to get on the right side of the river? Why didn't you do it? Why didn't you get out and swim?" At no point did he or anyone even ask if we were OK. This was a completely terrible experience. I'm mostly just really surprised that they were such absolute a-holes about the situation. There are a lot better companies than this one. AVOID.

First off, when I registered my party, none of the employees were wearing masks (not very comforting during covid). Additionally, mask requirements were not enforced for guests either, which was quite unnerving in a small enclosed space where people definitely did not stay 6 feet apart. Similarly, no masks were worn by employees on the shuttle busses to and from the rafting site. Considering that you share a bus or van with a group of people, this seems against public health recommendations - especially because all busses/vans had signs up requiring masks. Lastly, receiving our raft was quite chaotic. It wasn't clear where to go or who to talk to, and my group spent quite some time trying to get the attention of the employees. I may go back once the pandemic is over as the trio was very scenic, but would not recommend going at the moment.

The people who come here are really stretching the concept of "camping". They bring giant speakers and even TVs and power them with loud gas generators. One night we stayed people played loud music all through the night until 5am. If you value enjoying nature with a good night's sleep stay far far away from here.
