Wow, what a beautiful and incredibly special place to truly escape!! We have friends who are seasonal campers at Harmony Ridge, so we decided to drop in for a weekend with our RV to check it out. We are SO glad we did! The people are genuine, friendly, welcoming, and go out of their way to make you feel like part of their family. Being first time visitors, the owner and son escorted us to our camp site and helped with parking in the best spot on our site - they would have even backed/parked my RV for me, if needed! The pool is beautiful and well maintained - the bathrooms, common areas, and snack area/convenience store are clean and well stocked. The fellow camp kids were incredibly friendly, welcoming, and incredibly kind to invite our kids along for daily adventures/games. The lake was peaceful and so much fun as we watched our kids catch and release an abundance of fish! Our dog loved the walks and scenery as well. The landscaping is beautifully maintained as well - the groundskeeper was out watering plants and keeping things looking beautiful - you can tell he has a lot of pride in his work by watching him care for the grounds. He even made sure to point out a massive frog hopping around to my kids since he figured they'd get a kick out of it - and they sure did! We felt like we have a private piece of heaven on earth while still having access to all the beautiful amenities that come with camping! This place is very special since it's not a far drive for us but just enough "removed" from our day-to-day hustle to feel like a true vacation spot. The views - no matter which direction you look - are magical. The sunrise and sunset are unmatched. While we were only at Harmony Ridge for a quick weekend trip, it felt like time slowed down and we could enjoy every minute of our stay. We were already booking out next trip as we packed up!! Large campground with good size lots. The pool is nice. The bathrooms are not well taken care of and there isn't enough restrooms for the amount of guests that they had on the weekends They did not do a good job at keeping quiet hours enforced. Huge party going on till 4am the one night. I complained the next day and asked for that night's payment to be refunded, they said no. I had already paid for 7 nights. They do have a snack shop with cooked food but we didn't get anything because the deep fryer was not working. read more

DIRTY, very stinky bathrooms (showers, toilets) - mold growing all over the bathrooms & showers that were located in the main office building. The tent sites were not cared for (moss growing on picnic tables, fire pits full of trash & broken glass), tent sites very moist, water spigot did not work, tent sites very buggy. The place is overall NOT cared for. For the price it is NOT worth staying here in a tent site. Will not be staying here again. They need A LOT of maintenance. Very noisy at night time. Music playing past midnight very LOUD. It is $17.50 per adult per night and 5.00 per child. So it would be a total of $80 for the weekend for a family of FOUR (2 adults + 2 children). WAY overpriced for this campground. read more

One of the few times I've been cabin camping and Harmony Ridge was a pretty nice place to do it. We were lucky to have reserved two of the newer cabins. You're going to get a few ants and bugs here and there, but what could bother some people the most would be the smelly water as it contains sulfur. It's not dangerous but be sure to bring your own potable to drink. Nice fire pit if you're lucky to have weather on your side and it's secluded enough from other cabins/ tents around you. I'm on a mini fall vacation for the weekend and my wife recommended going here because she visited when she was a teenager. Well let me say the staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. They have some outdoor activities however not the weekend we were here. The prices at the little shop were great and they had the basics. The cabin we rented was big enough for the four of us to sleep but if your an elderly or somewhat physically challenged it will be hard to make it into the loft. If you want decent hiking trails you will have to leave the campground but you won't have to travel far. Overall great for a weekend but hard to say if I would be here for more than that. Place needs some updating. read more

I must say, this place is a very strange campground. Their check in time during the week is 5pm, their closing time is also 5pm. Doesn't make sense. Cabins have dead bugs all over the place. They don't allow you to bring in your own firewood. You must buy it from them, their firewood isn't seasoned and still wet because it must have been recently cut Down, so it's very difficult to burn. As far as amenities go, they don't offer much at all. They offer nothing except a pool and a game room the size of my bathroom.you can fish in a small pond but isn't worth the time since there really isn't much in the pond to catch. Their prices are very UNREASONABLE. For 2 people to stay there for 5 nights was $600. Most I ever paid for camping for 5 nights, and I camp several times a year for the past 30-something years. Unfortunately this campground was my worst camping experience to date. read more

Harmony Ridge sold me on camping. As a camping virgin, I insisted on staying in a cabin when I came here in October 2010. After a weekend at HR, I would still prefer a cabin, but would have no problem pitching a tent (haaaa!) on their luscious grounds. Everything about my Harmony Ridge experience, from the booking to the driving to the actual stay, to the departure, was joyous. The Risdon family is sweet and gracious and have definitely done New Jersey a service. The property is situated at the base of the Appalachian trail and it seriously is one of the most beautiful things I've ever seen in New Jersey, and I love NJ so I will smack anyone who backtalks my state. You check-in inside the on-site General Store, where you also buy your firewood and chocolate/marshmallows for smores :) Upon finally finding my cabin, I was absolutely delighted. It's really spacious for two people. Cute little kitchen with a full-size fridge, stove/oven, cabinets, microwave, coffee maker, etc. HR provides all the utensils, plates, cups...pretty much everything except the food itself. A full bathroom is connected to the bedroom. There is a set of bunk beds in the bedroom, but I'd recommend sleeping in the very spacious loft upstairs. Anything you might be inclined to do in bed in such a beautiful, peaceful spot of pristine nature is just too complicated and uncomfortable in a bunk bed. Step outside of your cabin, and you have a picnic bench along with a firepit for flaming amazing steaks, potatoes, and smores. There are hiking trails all around. HR also offers batting cages, a game room, boating, beach volleyball, a playground, and catch & release fishing. There's tons to do in the area: Space Farms & Museum (definitely a hightlight of my trip, this place was beyond amazing), skydiving, an assortment of taverns and restaurants, Mountain Creek water park, and shopping at Lafayette Village Shoppes. Not listed in their brochure for your horror movie buffs, Camp No-Be-Bo-Sco, aka Camp Crystal Lake, where Friday the 13th was filmed, is in nearby Blairstown. I got some awesome shots on my camera identical to those in the film, and snuck onto the Camp grounds, which were off-limits due to a Boy Scout convention or something. Do be prepared for some close encounters with nature. We had a lovely skunk take up residence under our cabin. Also a giant mama bear and 2 of her cubs wandered onto our campsite in broad daylight while I was sitting outside enjoying a Yuengling. Seriously one of the most awe-inspiring moments of my life...until I ran back inside the cabin. Pricing is very reasonable for a stay at Harmony Ridge. For a single bedroom cabin, you're dropping $80 a night with a 2 night minimum (3 on holidays.) I don't know much about standing cabin pricing, but this seems fair to me for what you're getting. If you just want to camp in a tent, you're looking at $15 per person per night, plus a $20 tent fee. One thing I do want to mention as a drawback of Harmony Ridge, the water in the sink smelled kinda funy, like copper. No big deal, I just chose to brush my teeth with bottled water instead. I woke up on a crisp, sunny October morning, brewed an amazing-smelling pot of coffee, scrambled some eggs and fried some bacon, and ate on a picnic bench in absolute paradise. At night I grilled a steak, cracked open a beer, and warmed myself in front of a crackling fire until I was good and tipsy...that's pretty priceless. read more

The place wasn't that much of a deal for $900 when we first arrived the lady was very rude. We came in with our dogs as a friend that visited said that the place was pet friendly but it turns out the cabins weren't. We had to go back to our state to leave the dogs that was 3 hours away by the time. The place it's self was alright if your looking to relax and sleep the only or swim in the pool. Very nice staff! Can't deny that. However, I booked a cabin here at least 2 months ago. I was informed the cabin's water would be turned off, and it was. No biggie. Cabin was clean, comfortable, warm with a refrigerator, microwave, electricity and heat. We were the only people in a cabin this weekend and like I said, they knew we were coming. That being said, the area around the cabin and the steps into and out of the cabin were frozen over with snow and ice making walking around very dangerous! Really. I am no wuss, but nothing was safe outside to walk on. Also, the fire ring was filled with rock-hard snow and ice making a campfire nearly impossible. Glad I brought a ton of wood and firestarters! This place for a cabin is not cheap! I would think the LEAST they could do for guests that they KNEW were coming, is to throw some rock salt out or SOMETHING to make walking safe! If one of us slipped and cracked our heads open, they would have had a problem, big problem. We won't be returning. But!!!! The staff was very nice! read more

The worst place we have ever gone. So disappointing. There was no place to swim. The lake was disgusting. They said the pool would be open and it wasn't. The staff was not welcoming. The water in the cabin smelled. The mattresses were as hard as the floor. It was our first vacation with our 3 year old and it was awful. Do not stay there. And definitely don't stay with children. It might be a good place for tent camping only. The one good thing, the cabins were clean. I should have known when I didn't get a reservation number. Terrible. read more

The amount of racism here is alarming. As soon as i walked into the main building to check in, me and my family received the most condescending and shocked stares ever. As if we were aliens walking into their territory. We walked in at another point and you could tell the women were talking about us by how quickly they silenced upon our entry, the old lady at the front counter told the heavy set lady (who was in another room) "lets not talk about that now, we have more coming" Could you be anymore obvious?? On another occasion my sister walked in to buy some chips and the first thing the heavy set lady said was "what do you want?" Seriously? We're here paying you for hospitality and thats how we're treated? Their attitude was just as horrible as the sulphuric water that reaked out of their sinks. The men working there weren't so bad, just completely wide-eyed at the fact that we were Tan with curly hair. Moral of the story; if you're of hispanic or black or any descent that does not contain European melanin, don't bother wasting your money on these folks. Four stars for the fact they have a nice facility here. They have secluded sites with trees and brush for privacy and they also have open grassy sites if you're camping with family and friends in larger groups. One star for the fact that they don't enforce their own rules. They have a quiet time of 11pm-8am. They strictly don't enforce it. We were completely surrounded by campers with zero etiquette that were rowdy until 1am on one side of us, then a group on the other that woke up at 6am that started their "fiesta" real early, if you know what I mean. The pool was later their destination of carrying on the activities. Other then bringing a BBQ with them, they brought everything else. Made quite a few people uncomfortable with the loudness and rowdiness. Obviously this was just a bad bunch and not the normal. Just bad timing on my weekend getaway (not my vacation). Maybe this is their vacation and needed to make the most of it. Bottom line, the place is set up nice and they try hard to do right by everyone. But the place is being over run by people that only care about themselves and not other campers. Inner city is working its way into the mountains. read more

I really enjoyed this campground! I've been here once when I was about 22 and again just recently, 10 years later. They've done a lot of upgrading! Outdoor roller rink, gazebos, paddles boats, horse shoes, water wars, fishing and more. We had a little bit of a hard time trying to locate the hiking trails though! I went with my boyfriend recently during off season and the woman working the office was super polite and helpful. She let us check in an hour early and told us take our time checking out being it was midweek. We rented a cabin which was awesome! The staff there was very friendly and helpful. We will definitely be visiting again!! read more

For thanksgiving this year the family thought it would be fun to go camping. Found a somewhat local place that advertised being open practically year round. We thought the price was reasonable and we were warned the water was off. Not a big deal. First impression, store looks nice but the building looked run down. Well all the buildings looked run down. It appears this place was a thriving campground about 20-30 years ago. Campsite for our pop up was sufficient but the ground was damp the whole time. It rained the night before we got there. The whole campground was a soggy mess for the extent of our 3 night trip. I live In the woods myself so I was greatly surprised in the amount of deer scat everywhere, it was unavoidable. Wood purchased from store was quite damp and took a long time to get going. Went into the bathroom in the main building and quickly left for my campers bathroom, gross and again looked run down. Nobody wearing masks in the store but they did have a plexiglass divider at the register. The playground by the main building had a huge "action park" looking slide. Kids loved it us parents not so much. There looked to be an arcade in the main building but was never on. Snack stand only open in summer. Why advertise being year round if nothing is ever turned on. One of the rules, no alcohol, was a true laugh as there were empty bottles and cans all over the grounds. We were told the water was off so we were pleasantly surprised to have running water. Hooked it up to the camper. I went into the camper after my son washed his hands, smelled like he just got done peeling a 1000 eggs. Water was awful and not useable. My kids favorite part of the trip was playing with an employees dog (comet), that just walked the grounds during the day while scratching non stop. If my kids have fleas I will be sending a bill. Also if you are a poc stay away. On the last day we decided to explore the campground and came across a confederate shanty town of beat up campers and tarp buildings. Looked like these were year round setups. Wishing I looked this place up on Yelp. read more

First time writing any kind of review for anything. If you plan on coming here for a relaxing trip, i strongly advise against it. we had a VERY loud family doing karaoke all day and all night. first we called the office and very politely asked if security could drive by and ask them to turn it down as it was very disruptive. an hour and a half later they were only getting louder. we called the office again and were told security drove by and determined nothing was wrong. we told them we were planning on leaving a day early because of this and asked if we could have a refund for the day we would not be here and we were told no. the campsite next to us also told us their friends were the block over and said the campsites surrounding them were playing loud music until five am. also the campsites are VERY close together, not exactly what we were expecting but we were determined to make it work even though when we booked we asked for a site as secluded as possible, even though all the other sites on the block were empty. not the main reason i'm giving one star but just to warn anyone thinking of visiting here. like i said if you are planning on having a relaxing vacation i STRONGLY advise booking elsewhere read more

Been going up to Harmony Ridge for many years now, in the fall, with a bunch of friends and family. My kids look forward to our weekend away every time and cant wait to sleep in the loft and hang out with their friends outside and up at the main building....they are always entertained. Cabins are clean and they all have enough room outside for friends to gather by a fire. This year, due to the weather, we were unable to have a birthday celebration outside as planned. We were graciously offered the main building to have our party, with decorations and food galore, everyone was so helpful and made sure we had everything we needed to fit our whole group in (about 40 of us!). Can't say enough good things and I am already looking forward to next year! read more

We stayed for Labor Day weekend in a travel trailer. They are not set up for big rigs. Getting in and turning around by the office is very tight. There are very few sites available to accommodate big rugs. No sewer hookups in the whole place so I can't imagine staying longer than a few days because it's dump station only. The whole place needs an overhaul, cosmetically. But: the lake is perfect. Tons of fish and a beautiful dock. Paddle boats you just borrow and put back when done. Prices are fantastic firewood is $5/bundle. Prices to stay are fantastic too. A great snack shop with ice cream and Slushies for the kids. Again the prices were great. The roads need to maintained better. Some parts of the campground just need to be cleaned up like the broken down Mc Donalds play cubes that the kids couldn't use or the metal gyms tossed in a pile near the office . I ran into a bear ravaging the garbage in front of the office one morning. But in the end we had a great time and the kids loved it. Just be aware it isn't very modern. I live locally and have always heard good things about Harmony Ridge. So of course when we had friends come from out of state it was the first place we thought of for them to stay! Unfortunately the owner kicked them out after a minor argument at 10:45pm as they were about to check in because they were blocking the gate and causing "traffic". Seriously how much camp traffic is there at 10:45 at night?! Very disappointing to know they would turn down a traveler who is 8+ hours away from home that late at night with no where else to go all because he, the owner, didn't like where they left the RV so they could check in after a long day of travel. read more
