We have used this campground for two years for our family reunion. Each year has been a major hassle with the reservations. But this year was our worst experience and we will not be going back. We reserved 4 of the basic cabins, along with a campsite. We all arrived Friday night. By Saturday morning each of our cabins toilets were clogged. We tried everything to unclog them. By Saturday night we had poo (yes extremely gross!!) coming out of the bathroom sink every time we flushed. The campground knew about the problem but did not call in anyone to fix the issue until Monday (one of the staff told us it was more expensive to have the repair done on the weekend!). On top of that one of the cabins coffee pots was missing the inside plastic filter. The family in that cabin had to just put the paper filter in the basket and hope it would make coffee. They were accused of stealing it when they checked out and the cabin was inspected. When they said it was like that when they arrived the staff at the front desk said no way and you owe us $20. When our family member said he would contest the charges they said "well we will just charge you another $20" and they actually promptly did that! My family member is now disputing the second charge with their credit card company. But just last night they got a threatening email from the campground saying they would turn them into collections if they didn't also pay for the fees associated with the contested charges plus any other fees! I know from being a business owner that it is totally illegal to charge a customer's credit card without their permission. That second charge was illegal, and even though they took it off within 24 hours, it doesn't change the fact that their staff did something illegal. Beware of this campground's practices. They do not care about customer service. read more

We have stayed here several times at it was OK. However, this time was not the case. We booked as a group a few weeks ago. When we got here our group had been move around. I guess one of the campers decided to stay longer in one of the spots we had booked so they separated us. When I complained to my surprise the could have cared less. We will not be back. We just got home from renting a cabin at Indian Lakes for two nights. At first glance, I was impressed but upon opening up the cabin door, I was swarmed by flies and the cabin was not clean. The floor was dirty, the shower drain was full of hair and the coffee pot was not only full of someone else's grounds but a dead fly in the pot. We went to the front desk to get a fly swatter and they gave us tacky strips to put up. After two days, I almost had the critters under control. They were obviously hatching somewhere in the cabin. I didn't want to use any of the dishes or the pans since I was concerned about their cleanliness. On another note...the campsites are very close together and spaced at all angles which makes an arrival or departure extremely difficult. Since campers are getting bigger than years ago, the campsites are not designed to accommodate the larger vehicles. Beware if you have one of those! The common areas were ok and the pool was nice. I was told that the common showers and bathrooms were clean and updated. Which is a definite plus for tent campers. I would not recommend for anyone who goes camping for peace and solitude and the cabin was not acceptable in my opinion. Let the flies have it!! read more

I have been coming to Indian Lakes Campground for 6 years now and have met many wonderful people and some of the best friends on the planet. I recently saw the negative review by a previous camper who wants to give a very one sided view of the campground and its owners. First of all, no one is evicted for a first offense. The campers in question had small children and would put them to bed early and stay up all night and sleep until afternoon while their children roamed the campground for hours in search of food because their parents couldn't get out of bed. After they were confronted they constantly harassed the people they thought told on them and tried to intimidate them to get them to leave. The cop that was mentioned did in fact break his leg but after he bounced a check to the campground and after given an opportunity to make payments again failed and was asked to leave. The campground owners will work with people but you have to be honest and make good on your promise to pay as they are running a business and not a charity. The owners have increased the fees but not every year. Some years up to $200 for the most expensive lake lot and nothing for others. The owners installed sewers with lift stations throughout the campground and pay tens of thousands of dollars a season to have the sewer treated from the Town of Wolcottville (who they tried to have meter the usage in hopes of getting the price down so not to pass it on to the campers to no avail). My family and I have made some wonderful memories here and love this place. The owners are wonderful family people themselves who will go through great lengths to accommodate anyone. I for one am grateful that the owners try to regulate the partiers so the kids and fisherman who get up early to be on the lake can also enjoy the park. There are also older people who come to relax. The bottom line is that you get what you pay for. This is a first class facility that is constantly being upgraded. read more

This place is truly terrible. The ownership is so commercial and greedy that having kids and family here isn't something you want to experience. I happen to know a fellow camper this year (he is an active local police officer - 10 plus years ) that was accidently injured on the lake in June. (3 months into season). He was taken by ambulance from the pier and then hospitalized with a crushed shin. After four days in the hospital, 2 weeks on bed rest, he unfortunately had a blood clot and returned to the hospital. Throughout this time, fellow police officers in the community donated their sick time while he couldn't work so that his 5 children and wife could continue as if he were working. Meanwhile at Indian Lakes Campground, the owner was applying a charge to the family each week for an un mowed lot. Which isn't all that bad, right? Someone had to mow it and they should get paid. But then with no notification, the owner moved his camper and re-rented the spot because his balance went over threshold. High. I can tell you a lot of the campers here were shocked.. I mean we have seen a lot of stuff before but nothing so callous. If that doesn't say it all I don't know what does. Take your family and children to a place that treats people respectfully and that does the community proud. This isn't the first time the owner has resented seasonal lots mid-year. In fact it seems to be a revenue strategy. A couple of years ago, there were lot renters who were told that they "weren't following the rules" and even though they had other campers that defended them, he wanted the lot re-rented and required them to leave. That's just a picture of the character of the ownership of the place. All the things you read about the greediness and nickel and diming are true. Lot rents go up $300 one year and the $400 the next. And if you and your wife are hanging out by your fire, on your lot, that you paid $3500 dollars for after 10am, you can expect that he will walk right in and sit down - (keep looking over your shoulder, because if you are the one up at 10 you are the next one to go). As he sits by your fire and interrupts your family time, he will ask if you "saw who started the dock fire because he knows you stay up late", or "who had a chainsaw" and the next thing you know, yes, "it was, you". While you are trying to explain that you have no idea what he is talking about, he doesn't care and you're out. And someone is in the next day.. interesting and you begin to wonder if those things the owners said occurred really even did. Place wouldn't be bad if the ownership wasn't so commercial and cold. Not to mention cowardly and unable to communicate and seek clarity on issues. It really tears down the heart of Amish Country where people here are known for their community ways. Maybe the owners had made enough money in the last few years they will go back to New York or wherever they came from so the community doesn't have to have such a black mark in it. We have camped at many places, don't be fooled by the initial tour and seemingly friendliness in the beginning. Goes downhill real quick. read more
