As a longtime volunteer, I'm saddened by the negative changes I've witnessed at Indian River Habitat Restore. The atmosphere has changed dramatically, and not for the better. From my perspective, the new manager has been reluctant to leave the office and spend time on the sales floor or learn how the store operates before making significant changes. One of the biggest surprises was the decision to stop accepting certain donated items that we had always been encouraged to take. Trevor, the CEO, had consistently told us to accept everything we could, so it was confusing to see that approach change so suddenly without any explanation. The morale in the store also seems much lower than it used to be. Many employees appear frustrated, and the positive, team-oriented environment that once made volunteering enjoyable has been affected. I especially feel for Robin, who was an outstanding manager. She worked hard, supported both volunteers and staff, and helped create a welcoming environment. It was disappointing to see her leave, and I don't feel she--or the rest of the staff--received the respect they deserved. read more

When you are a business that relies on donations, it should go without saying that you should make donating as pleasant an experience as possible for your donors. After my interaction with the always grumpy and unhelpful guy at the donation drop off on Saturday, I will be donating elsewhere in the future. read more

Huge resell superstore. Good selection of furniture, kitchen/tableware, clothes, electronics, and more. It could be the location in the town with a great turnover, people moving in and out a lot, but this is the best and most extensive resale store I've ever seen. Occasional great deals on items they want to move. I recently purchased three solid wood headboards For under $10 each. Highly recommended. read more

Love, love, love this place. Priced are less than reasonable and I have always found what I'm looking for.

I like coming in but it's hit and miss. Prices vary and sometimes buying appliances or furniture can be barely better than buying from a big store, and it gets very competitive when they drop their prices after things are on the floor for too many weeks (people like up like it's Black Friday to buy on the day prices drop). Other than that they do a lot of sales, so it's never too bad, especially compared to places that price gouge like Goodwill and Salvation Army. read more

I try to drop off items there about once a month. Never had a problem with the receiving employees helping me out. I think they do a great job. Items for sale may be hit or miss but I almost always leave with something. I think you guys are doing a great job! read more

I agree with the recent review. Ten years ago they wanted 20 dollars for a really ancient coffeemaker. Toaster was tagged at 12 bucks. Old and burnt out. Ridiculous. Cheaper to go to Target or Amazon. read more

Way over priced even after years of complaints about most items being overpriced they have done nothing to improve the situation

This store is gigantic and stuffed to the gills with merchandise. I was looking for bookcases and a dining room table with chairs. I found the bookcase easily but when I looked closer it had dings and gouges in it and was a bit dirty. No problem it's second hand and it can be cleaned up. I looked at the price and was shocked. It was $250, seriously. It had a tag that said if I come back in 30 days, I could get it for a cheaper price. First, the cheaper price was still too much, Second, I wanted to buy the item right then and take it home. You know, cause that's how stores work. The dining room has tables that I liked in the range of $350-600. Too pricey. I have yet to find a nice bookcase. I found a complete dining room set for $50. I'm currently painting it and it looks great. The management or whoever does pricing should be ashamed of themselves. This is truly a disaster. read more

i was just here over the weekend and wow lots of nice stuff ,as far as the pricing goes maybe its a bit higher than i can afford but they do drop over time and honestly. I could shop at the fort pierce store or st lucie stores ,where the prices better fit my budget but then i lose the good quality of the products I've seen .ill definitely go back hands down if you cant afford the ramada inn go to the motel 6 is how I see it good luck every one, happy hunting!!!! read more

Well I can see from past reviews that people feel the prices are too high for used items. Here it is September 2021 and the prices are still way too high. Everyone I know feels this way. Used goods at retail prices. Once I questioned why an item I was interested in was priced same as retail. I knew the exact price because I was contemplating buying new when I spotted it at the Restore. Confused I questioned a store associate. She explained they google image search the items and then price based on retail. Seriously? After subsequent trips yielding the same experience, I decided to no longer bring my donations to them, nor who I shop the store. Such a shame. I now donate to those who price fair, helping people in need or for those who simply don't want to pay retail prices for used goods. read more

My favorite place to shop. Very clean n staff are always very helpful n cheerful. Store is well organized.

I frequently drop by this location hoping that the prices will eventually be reasonable. I'm always disappointed to see that they basically charge retail prices for used and damaged furniture. Associates are unfriendly, especially when you question their pricing practices. It's unfortunate to see an organization, which is supposed to do good in our community, take advantage of our community's donations. This store does not help families on a budget trying to furnish their home. I've visited dozens of other locations, and the pricing has always been fair. This location has always been an outlier and I hope that they get on the same page, as they tarnish the organization as a whole. read more

We have found this habitat for Humanity in Vero beach is ridiculously high priced. We found a (not like new condition) sink marked $18.00 and a manager tore the tag off and told us it was $100.00. We were not only shocked at the mark up after we were at the cash register but the rudeness of the mangement. If she had apologized for the price marked as a mistake I may not be making this 1 star review. They behaved as though we were bad for expecting to pay what was marked on the pre printed price tag. Needless to say we did not purchase the sink. We were told Home depot sinks are $100.00 and up. My BF politely reminded them the merchandise at home depot was new without scratches, sealer residue and came with warranties. We went to the port saint lucie habitat and was pleased with realistic prices for used items and staff was amazing. Vero should fire their management. Most unprofessional behavior I've ever encountered. It is a non profit organization. Absolute shame to behave like such a greedy tyrant for a company that represents exactly the opposite views. Avoid the Vero branch at all cost. Shame shame. read more

Habitat for Humanity in Vero Beach, Florida is disgusting! They certainly need a new manager for the survival of the store. Such a beautiful building, filled with crap. Their prices are outrageous. This is so sad to see because the concept of the store, helping others, has gone out the window!! They must limit what is brought in and have their current inventory taken to the dump. What a joke this store has become! I know because My wife and I ran a award winning consignment store in Vero Beach for eleven years. Customer's do not want to buy junk and when they do make a purchase, they want a deal, not over priced crap! Shame, Shame, Shame on the management team. Ninety percent of the inventory should be replaced, so the idea of a Habitat Store can become more of a reality. We will not return for a very long time!!! read more

My husband and I have lived all over Florida and have gone to a fair number of thrift stores and we keep coming back to ReStore here in Vero. They had a large expansion open up in the past year or so and they have all of the good things in a thrift store, with the exception of clothing. They have appliances, lawn & garden items, furniture --both of the indoor kind and outdoor; books, dishes, hardware. I could go on... Their prices for some things may be expensive but they are always having a sale. And they have a sticker policy that says anything that has been there longer than 30 days is automatically 25% off, 50% off after 60 days and 75% off in 90 days, so you can really get a good deal if you play your cards right. We got a beautiful carved Oak dining table and seating for 6 for about $350-400, which was on sale and marked down for having been there 60 days; I think the original price was closer to $800. Like I said, they are always having a sale. Today was 25% off everything in the store. Today we got 3 books and a pile of gardening pots and tools for only $4.... and we had a big basket full of stuff. The clerks are always nice and professional and friendly. The place is always clean and well-kept (and if you disagree, try some other thrift stores). I will always look forward to going to ReStore because you never know what you're going to find. read more

OK, so we go there often to help our community, well the last time we tried to buy something, ah how much, oh you cant buy that! Wait what it's on the shelf, ya but it's not for sale! (it was a glass ink container I was buying for my daughter who likes to write). NOPE! My daughter looked at me, dad why do you buy from here, these people are arrogant. These shenanigans have happened more and more with this so called "manager". Bottom line, I donate to VNA, donate in the back, go around front and buy more. They are respectful and good folks. BTW, I donated a leather couch and sofa when I moved to Vero, they had it on "sale" for $2200! What! I should have learned then. NEVER AGAIN! read more

I agree wholeheartedly with the previous review from Phil..I've stopped checking in here at Habitat also because their inventory sits now for weeks and sometimes for months because of their pricing.. One day my girlfriend and I were there and a couple of the women sales associates were visiting with my dog in his stroller and my girlfriend asked "who does the pricing here" and one of the ladies spoke up and said "I do, why?" quite indignantly...and my girlfriend said because the prices seem so out of line on many items.."which ones do you have a problem with?" And my friend went on to name a few items and point out a few others and the sales associate went on to say do you realize that chandelier is a "so and so designer name"?? My friend replied "Well, no, I've never heard of that designer and I'm sure that those who have would not be in Habitat looking for a designer chandelier" This type of conversation went back and forth for quite awhile and obviously she was not going to change her pricing strategy ! We reminded her that they receive the items for free, and she asked "do you know how much this addition cost to build and our what our monthly expenses are?" "Well no, but you still have mostly volunteer workers or minimum wage employees and FREE inventory" to put it mildly we all go there pretty infrequently now and shop at other consignment stores where at least the craftsman (and women) who make their own products and have a value more than overpriced hand-me-downs... read more

You would think that management would price items properly so they will sell. I guarantee if the pricing was appropriate Habitat would sell so much more and be able to build more houses etc. They are pricing stuff at full blown retail... It's a joke and sad. read more

Great store, lots of inventory well organized and sometimes they have this woman playing the piano for the shoppers pleasure.

You can find treasures here but it will require some hunting. One tip though, if you find something you really like buy it on the spot, it WILL NOT be there when you go back. Trust me on this! read more

We have been coming here for about three years now. We loved this store so much and thought it was a true gem for those in need of quality items at a truly discounted price. Unfortunately, within the last year and especially after the store's renovation, prices have literally skyrocketed. The quality of items has sunk and the pricing is just stupid. Broken, dirty and in need of repair is the main stay now. It's a true shame since this place used to be a god send to those with a low budget. The turnover for items is now very low and it seems that items having been sitting for quite some time (we stop in every weekend). There is literally no point in shopping here anymore. You can just go across the street to OTG Liquidation and get the same exact items at habitat restore brand new for a better price! It makes no sense. Why would anyone pay more for a used, dirty and broken item at habitat when the same item is available new across the street for a lower price. Such a shame. The manager at the restore needs a serious reality check. read more

Have to agree with the other two people who commented. This was my "go to" place every winter and I have gotten some great stuff there at reasonable prices. My first trip there this year my sister and I were astounded by the foolish pricing. There used to be a few things that had crazy prices that were considered "designer items" though I don't know who ever bought them. Maybe people waited for reductions. Now everything is priced out of sight considering what it is. Why put on the addition if the cost was so prohibitive? Should have left things as they were. Too bad. Won't help the organization to create homes for poor people if the stuff isn't moving. There's another non-profit thrift shop in Vero that overprices furniture; it stays around forever. read more
