I was close to this place so I stopped to try it out. 1) Place is clean and welcoming. It is very fancy looking. I felt under dressed for the ambiance of the restaurant but you will be okay with a jeans and a shirt. 2) Servers seem young and a bit confused. I don't think they are old enough to server alcohol so they had to get an older gentleman to serve it. The older servers were very attentive and friendly. 3) Food was delicious! Tried two main dishes: Lamb with Eggplant and Lentils. Both delicious! Rice and garlic naan was of course good as well. Overall, I recommend this place and recommend you try them out! read more

Okay I came here on Friday afternoon right at 5pm. And the place was almost empty. It didn't take long though and it started to fill up. My BFF and I ordered and literally had our food in a few minutes. It was absolutely delicious. I am so happy we came here for dinner. The place was quiet and very clean. I truly cannot wait to come back here to eat again. It may be my new favorite Indian food location. The food was delicious! Some of the best Indian food I have ever tasted! The garlic naan had incredible texture, and the biriani had very good flavor. However, it took very long for food to get served, a wait about 40 minutes despite having only a couple customers. The ambiance was good overall. I ordered take-out from here last week, and was very impressed with the beautiful interior. It was very clean, comfortable and beautiful. The service was timely, friendly, and helpful. And the food was amazing! I particularly enjoyed the Paneer Afgani for it's sophisticated layer of flavors. The Tandoori Roti was authentic -- soft, just the right level of chewy, and perfect for soaking up the rest of the meal. I ordered two entrees: the Mango Lamb, which had the right level of sweetness, and the shrimp curry. Both were tasty and fresh. read more

Main course was chicken biryani.. Again, the flavor was so good. I couldnt stop eating it.. I don't eat too spicy so I ordered a 3 out of 10 and it was a little less spicy so I added some chatney and it was perfect. The service was awesome too. The waitress was prompt and attentive and friendly. The restaurant itself was in really good condition versus some hole in the wall Indian places I've been to.. The portion was huge. Wow. Absolutely incredible service - friendly, fast but more importantly the food was delicious. We each took our first bite smiled and nodded our heads. Yes! Like, Yum. Samosa Chaat appetizer was delish. Very shareable. Our group had the vegetable korma, chicken madras and chicken chili. Everything was wonderful and WOW- huge portions! We had to bring some home!!!! Garlic naan and onion naan to die for. My husband likes his food spicy, and the spice level of a 7 was perfect for him. The rest of us were a little more wimpy lol. **People in past reviews have been concerned about the price... But basically you get two entire meals! This is the 2nd time we have had dinner here. My daughter ordered the Konkani with chicken and I ordered the Rogan Josh also with chicken. We shared an order of garlic naan. I am just laughing at the number of people who are like, "Best Indian I've ever had! But I'm docking it a star (or two) because it's more expensive than other Indian restaurants in the area." It isn't cheap to make higher-quality food. Almost every other Indian restaurant in the area uses frozen bagged veggies and commercial sauce mixes and premade samosas and cheaper cuts. They literally all have the same menu. This place uses fresh ingredients and cooks from scratch. I has an executive chef. That makes a huge difference in the quality, but it costs money. If you're happy with the cookie-cutter Indian restaurants at the dozens of places in the area with all-you-can-eat lunch buffets, definitely this place is not for you. read more

This was a very happy surprise for me visiting the area. I have been disappointed in the past in some Indian restaurants in my work travel, but this made up for it all. I wish I could say I dined with a group so I could give a little broader review, but I dined alone. I usually eat vegetarian, and of course, there were plenty of choices on the menu. I am not a restaurant reviewer, so I won't do it justice. I ordered the paneer karahi. I never had it before, but I will again when I can, ingredients were very fresh and the sauce was excellent. Had a great experience here with a friend, each of us ordering different dishes and splitting a garlic naan. The saag paneer was excellently rich from the cheese and a great veggie heavy sauce. This is based off of dining here for 2 years, both in person and carry out/delivery. Indian Spice Train was possibly the first restaurant I ever dined at when I moved to the area, it was near my hotel. :) Though it is unassuming from the outside, inside, the dining experience seemed intimate and special. The restaurant being fairly secluded lends itself to less foot traffic, which in turn makes for a more peaceful dining experience. (This was pre-COVID too!) Overall, the food then was better than average Indian, not stellar, but better than generic carry out Indian fare. The garlic naan, shrimp kadai, and chicken tikka masala were solid, with the tikka being extra good. Fast forward, and after having Indian Spice train a few times for carry out and delivery, I am disappointed that they are going downhill. When doing carry out, they handed my food to me leaking and seeping out of the bag. I pointed it out, and they half-heartedly fixed the issue. I was worried I needed more food added, with all that spilled out of the container! The last couple times we did delivery, the food was not as flavorful as it was initially, so much so, it seems as if they have a new chef? The shrimp mafia was mushy, flavor was off, there were not enough shrimp (and they seemed poor quality) and too many gargantuan chucks of tomatoes (which I don't recall being in the dish prior). Even the garlic naan was lackluster. I had trouble finishing my meal, that's how unpleasant it was. I hope they can turn things around! read more

The food was very tasty, it was delectable and very flavorful. I could tell it was high quality. I got the paneer tikka masala. The sauce had strands of leafy herbs and fresh butter. The rice was good, it was pretty fresh and didn't clump much. A few stray cumin seeds were a nice touch. I'd give a 5 star if the review ended here. Unfortunately, that little thing called "price" needs to be addressed. Typically paneer tikka masala (vegetarian) is priced between $11-13 at every competitor in the area. They went for a cool $16. Every menu item is Ala Carte. The portion size was VERY small for the $16. If a price and/or portion adjustment happened, I would make this a regular of mine. read more

This absolute gem has some of the best Indian dishes I've ever had and I've been to excellent Indian restaurants all across the USA. The taste, textures and appearance are all incredible. Even after eating my fill, there remained a generous portion that made me want to overeat, until I remembered I could enjoy another excellent meal if I took some home. If you like it spicy you can indeed get it extremely spicy, but also for those of you who have no desire to burn your palette can get still incredibly flavorful dishes that won't singe your taste buds. The service was excellent, the staff friendly and willing to offer suggestions as well as being quick and courteous. The recently remodeled dining area is nothing short of beautiful. Beautiful art, stylish tables and delightful hardwood floors make it a palace dedicated to food that you can enjoy as a night of fine dining, or as a curious walk in guest for lunch as I was. While I did not partake of it, their incredible selection of wines can be seen and enjoyed as a part of the incredible ambiance of this absolutely amazing restaurant. Disappointing Lamb Tandoori The Lamb Tandoori was ground lamb formed around a skewer, not the pieces of tender lamb traditionally used in shish kabob found in middle Eastern restaurants. The ground lamb was spongy and not very good. I wished they had explained this better in the menu. I was very disappointed with the meal. read more

Overall, very, very good. That being said there are a few things that would make this a 5 star review. The appetizers, with the exception of the samosas are all $12-18 which is pretty steep considering entrees are in the same range. A nice addition would be a vegetable pakora or a larger portion of poppadoms together with a lime pickles, mango chutney etc. Really just a few more options in the $5-$8 range. Secondly the spice level is a little higher than other restaurants in the area. I had a 3 and it was comparable to a 4/5 elsewhere. Food flavor was excellent, naan bread a solid 9/10, portion sizes more than adequate and the service on point. Good Indian at a reasonable price. Recommended. read more

When we moved from England where Indian is to die for and in fact the national Dish (chicken Tikka Massala) there was nothing to match in USA. Fortunately we found Mike and the India Spice Train He runs a great business and the food is by far the best in and surrounding Cincinnati. The service is excellent, Mike is a super and considerate host . Above all the food is fantastic and well presented . Ordered takeout once and visited the restaurant once before trying this establishment again recently [because our usual place is closed Wednesday] Previous experience was so so but it was over a year ago so thought we would try it again. The food arrived warm and well packaged. Unfortunately the food was terrible. The goan curry had no flavour and just tasted like spicy cream. The chicken was dry and rubbery. The korma was very thin, almost watery and was very sparse with the chicken. The naan was very small and no better than a Stonefire brand naan from Kroger. We ordered via Doordash and although we have a Dashpash it was still 7.95 delivery fee. Never encountered this before in West Chester using Doordash. We eat takeout Indian food at least 4 times a month and absolutely love it. Unfortunately I'd rather eat a jarred simmer sauce like Pataks at home than try Indian Spice Train again. read more

It was very easy to find vegan options on the menu at Indian Spice Train. The vegan entrees are labeled on the in-store menus. I got the Baingan Bhartha with roti, and both were fantastic. Be sure to tell your waiter or waitress you are vegan though, because the naan and rice both inherently have some dairy in them. But the staff members are very willing to accommodate. The restaurant had a nice atmosphere, too. I'm looking forward to going back. read more

I've been wanting to try this place for awhile, at the high recommendation of a coworker. Let me preface by saying my husband is Indian, I've been to India multiple times so I have a taste for good, authentic Indian food We started by ordering an appetizer of Papdi Chaat. One of my favorites. I was quite a bit off put by the $12 price tag, but we decided to splurge a little. The serving size is large, but we were a bit disappointed. The papdi came out looking like giant orange Doritos. I did like that they were placed around the chaat rather than under so they not got soggy, however the papdi to chaat ratio was a bit off. The excessive chopped onions were so overpowering that it kind of ruined it for us. Was it bad? No, but knowing what goes in it, the price tag is a biiiit much for what you get. Personally I'd suggest trying something else. For the main course, we ordered a chicken biryani, shahi paneer, and garlic naan. Spice level 8/10. Let me say I really appreciate us actually getting that 8 spice level. I actually enjoy my food spicier than my husband, but we always find they hold back on the spice, even if ordering the highest number. Indian Spice Train did not hold back and our dishes had some heat! The biryani portion was very large. We didn't expect it to come with so much, otherwise we would have just split that (not complaining though!) It was nicely seasoned and very aromatic and they didn't jip on the chicken. We also liked that it came with a side of raita. The shahi paneer was our favorite. It paired very nicely with the garlic naan. Ordering just this and an order of naan can easily be split on its own, as it also comes with a large bowl of rice. The heat level was spot on to the 8/10 we ordered. It was also nicely seasoned and creamy. Overall we enjoyed the experience. It's nice to have found a more "upscale" Indian restaurant for when the mood strikes. The food is stunningly good. There's a depth of flavor regardless of the spice level you prefer. I highly recommend the shorba, lentil soup, chicken Afghani. The chef's sampler appetizer platter is a good value and is a complete meal for 2. The naan is yummy. The fruit naan is delicious and has a sweetness that helps cut spicier bites. Beer and wine options are good. I've not been impressed with the cocktails, but hey, I'm there for the food. Finally, the owner and chef usually stops by for feedback. Food is the best Indian around. It's on the sweeter side, at least what I get, Chicken Tikka Masala and the Saag Paneer. I order it medium spice and it's just amazing. Also the Garlic Nan is mouth watering. Definitely recommend. I took off two stars because of the price per dish and delivery price is outrageous. Price per dish is $5.00 more than any Indian restaurant in the area and I have door dash premium and Uber eats premium and both delivery charges are $8.99+ and then fees add another $6.99+. So two dishes and one naan usually cost $80+. Because half of the money is fees and charges. So this restaurant I only order take out on occasion when I crave a sweeter Indian cuisine. read more
