We stayed here during hubby's trade show at WWETT 2016. Great hotel with all the amenities, super convenient to nearby restaurants, shopping mall, attractions, Indiana State Capitol, Convention Center, and Colts Stadium. The fitness center is immaculate. Our son enjoyed the heated indoor pool, no hot tub though. If you get a chance, check out the cool-looking metal pool. Ironically, I enjoyed the laundry facility equipped with TV and microwave...it's the little things. Having the ability to wash and dry clothes, especially when traveling with the family is a bonus! Overall, Marriott's hospitality is exceptional. The staff are friendly and helpful. Knocked off one star due to their small and uncomfortable pillows, couldn't sleep well. Starbucks is located in the spacious lobby. There are a couple of restaurants to choose from on-site, one is Champions and the other is Circle City Bar and Grill. We dined at both, each one offers a different ambiance. I would definitely stay here again once they get firmer pillows =) read more

My husband and I just got home from a wonderful night away at the downtown Marriott. We live in the area but we are attending an event and didn't want to have to drive home late at night. We instead stayed at the Indianapolis Marriott downtown. It was centrally located, within walking distance to restaurants and everything downtown, and close to our event (we even had a shuttle to and from. ) From the moment we checked in with Danyeill to when we checked out and met the manager Sam. We felt well taken care of. Our room was newly decorated and impeccably clean. Our view was incredible, the football stadium in front of us, the baseball stadium to the right. The bed and pillows were the best. Thank you Marriott, Indianapolis for a lovely getaway. read more

After traveling all day and arriving at the hotel @ 3am Judy was extremely helpful in finding a room with a King bed, even though the room style booked was unavailable. She went out of her way to find me a suitable room. The room was very nice and the bed by far has been the most comfortable that I have experienced in my many years of traveling. All the staff was courteous and extremely helpful. The valet parking @$42.00/night was a little steep in my opinion, you can self park for 27..00/night in the same garage which has an elevator to the hotel. Has a Sbux, Champions Sports Bar & another bar & grille inside the hotel plus the hotel had an enclosed Skywalk to the convention center. read more

Absolutely fantastic, accommodation staff that easily held our 300 person retreat - all attorneys. Not always easy being a large group of a-type personalities. Parking and group transportation was easy. Starbucks, a restaurant/grill/bar and straight up bar right in the lobby. As a guest, you have in/out parking privileges. Good food /catering considering such a large group. Comfortable rooms. Good business center with 2 desktops, 2 black and white jet printers, 1 color printer. Copies available for a charge at the front desk. Connected by skywalk to the convention center and other buildings. Not sure but I think there is a charge for wifi. read more

I've stayed at a couple of other hotels in this downtown/convention center area of Indianapolis (the Westin and the JW Marriott). I didn't have very high expectations, as I generally don't for convention hotels, but our stay included a few pleasant surprises which made the experience positive overall. When we arrived, we were checked in by Prince. I don't usually chat with people but he was so friendly that my wife (also very friendly) jumped into the check-in process. He was asking whether we wanted a king room or two doubles and my wife said she really wanted a view. So, Prince gave us a room on the top floor of the hotel with a nice view to the West of downtown. Prince pointed out the Starbucks in the lobby and my wife said she was looking forward to going there asap, so he gave her a coupon for a free drink. Our room was spacious with a nice sitting chair and ottoman, comfortable bed, big bathroom, L-shaped desk, and connectors to hook my computer to the TV (which I did to look at some detailed tables for work). The internet costs $13/day (typical business hotel), but it was fast and reliable and we had no trouble hooking up my computer, our phones, and an iPad and a second computer to the same connection. The cleaning staff was excellent. After our first night we had our toiletries strewn all over the counter, and we returned to find wash cloths placed under each collection of things. A small but nice touch. We had a nice late night snack and cocktail at the hotel bar, had no trouble getting our car or a cab from the valet, walked all over downtown Indy indoors through the convention center's tunnel system, and were happily greeted every time we returned to the hotel. I'm shocked to see so many low ratings here. Our experience was very good. read more

I stayed here before the renovations were started, so I greatly appreciate the effort they're putting into updating the property. This time I was here for a convention across the street. I know renovations can be tough, but it does seem strange that there were no breakfast restaurants open on the entire property, and the little market they have was closed for another week for training purposes. You couldn't even buy a water anywhere if Starbucks was closed. So why am I giving it four stars? The staff was very gracious and helpful during this period of construction. They placed staff out in the lobby to help people with questions. When I asked where I could get some water, they went and got me some out of the stockroom at no charge. I am looking forward to seeing the renovations completed. The odd thing is that usually breakfast in the concierge lounge (or M Club) is free for Platinum members. But for some reason, that was not the case with their makeshift concierge lounge. You needed a certificate for breakfast, which I didn't have. Fortunately, the staff once again came to my rescue and created a certificate for me so I could enjoy a breakfast. read more

My mother and I stayed in the Downtown Marriott from November 10-13, 2022, for the Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority Inc.'s Centennial Founders' Weekend. On November 13th, my mother and I called the front desk and valet phone numbers three times to request assistance with our luggage. We began making the calls at approximately 4:15 a.m. We let the phone ring several times. However, there was no answer. When we arrived at the front desk, no one was present. After arriving at the front desk, a staff person (Justin or Jason) appeared and walked back to the office. I walked over to the the back office and called out for help. Justin or Jason came out and listened to my concerns. When I told him no one answered the phones, he replied that he didn't hear them. He continued to explain that there were only two people staff. I told him his responses were unacceptable, I also shared that I would report the poor customer service to management and share it on social media. My mother is an 83 year old senior citizen who used a scooter to move around during our stay. The Good: Location is convenient. Walking distance downtown, there are lots of food and bar choices, Mass Ave food and drinks, Fountain Sq. food and drinks, the Cultural Trail, IN government, monuments, the canal, State Museum, Eiteljorg museum, and the Zoo. The Bad: It's hot as sweaty balls in the middle of July in Indiana. The Marriott Downtown is expensive. Rate, the food, and anything you buy within the hotel. $2.43 USD for a 2 pack of 100 mg Advil gel caps. $4.09 for a 16 oz Pepsi bottle. Pro Tip: Walk 10 mins to the mall and stock up on supplies. Pepsi and bottled water are $1.50. The Ugly: Is a long story... I don't typically stay at the Marriott, but for some reason my professional organization has an arrangement with them. My big complaint this stay is the gross miscommunication I have experienced with this staff. Part 1 - Day 1 check in around 7pm. Stay paid for by company credit card. Go out for dinner, come back to my room and I have a VM from the front desk that says my company credit card was declined. I call and to find out what's up but the girl I talk to sounds unsure and says I should definitely resolve this by checkout. Okay fine. Just to be sure I go down to the front desk to get some clarification. They don't know what is wrong, the cc just declined authorization, even thought I have a printout of the authorization form, they say oh this is not the form we use, you'll need to submit a new one. But its an official Marriott form, so wtf... let me talk to the manager, okay we don't know, just send us a new cc authorization, I can't do this, its a company card you need to talk to my office admin here is the contact info. I ask him what happens if we don't resolve this tonight, he says its okay this should be fine we will resolve it before checkout. I also email my office admin with the hotel manager's contact info so that she can reach out to them... Day 2, I run upstairs at the conference lunch break 12pm EST and 9 am PST, and lo... I'm locked out of my room. SO back at the front desk, they're like ya... your credit card declined so we can't let you into the room. No one contacted my admin, they don't have her information, and my admin hadn't been able to get a hold of the manager yet cuz she's on the Pacific Coast... The manager still doesn't know what's wrong. The card went through for my boss's room but not mine. I'm pissed and embarrassed. Front desk and manager are not helpful. I'm like well what happens if this isn't resolved by today? Can I get my stuff out of the room? I cannot do anything to resolve this and you have to talk to my admin... and I still need to get into the room. Okay we will send a security person up to let you in the room to organize your stuff while we wait. 30 mins later, no one shows up. I go back to the front desk. Still not helpful. In the end my boss had to call our purchasing department to figure it out. Marriott was using the wrong expiration date. They had the card info in writing... as well as the credit authorization... so with barely an apology from the manager I get access to my room 2 hours later. Everyone at the front desk seems new and unfamiliar with how things work. Part 2 - Day 2 : I wake up with a REALLY bad headache. I usually get a little headache because A/C doesn't agree with me but this is BAD. I think okay, remember to turn the A/C all the way off tonight. Day 2/3: 3am. I wake up with a head splitting headache. Anvils and hammers are squishing my brain. I have the A/C completely turned off. Nothing is open I have no Advil. Day 3: I'm out of commission or most of the morning after I pay almost 3 dollars for 2 Advil gel caps. I start feeling better around 11 am and I go down to the front desk to ask if they can check on anything in my room. I tell them it might be a ventilation issue and that I am sensitive to mold. A very likely explanation for this bad a headache is indoor air quality, either VOCs or mold. By the way did I mention I'm at a safety conference and I conduct indoor air quality inspection and resolutions as part of my job... so ya I know what I'm talking about. The front desk says sure, we'll have an engineer check on it. Back to the conference, then dinner, run up to my room for a poo. Someone has definitely been in here all the lights are on, go back to the front desk to see what's up... turns out nothing. The front desk person can find no notes or the work order for an engineer to go into my room... she's annoyed. Her name is Mya. She is the only person who has been genuinely helpful and not just superficially courteous. She understands how a potential mold concern should be treated as a serious matter and she's says this is unacceptable, let us move you to a new room because it will take awhile to figure it out. So thank you Mya for your help and your understanding. Day 4, new room A/C turned off NO HEADACHE! and its' checkout day! read more

I have stayed at this hotel several times. I always have a pretty good experience. Parking can get confusing if you are not used to the garage. You can enter it from a few different sides and that can change how many flights you drive up!! Staff is always kind. You can leave your bags at the front of your room isn't ready and enjoy some water or treats from the bar. Also, there is a free shuttle if you request being taking somewhere. We shuttled to the inclines and then Ubered back. The bed was clean and comfortable. The bathroom wasn't anything special but worked. The last time I stayed there I must have forgotten to put the do not disturb sign out. The maids came back 3-4 times to turn over our room. The hotel is at a good location. The only thing I wish would be for a complimentary breakfast but several breakfast options nearby. Also, there is a Starbucks attached. read more

There was one and only one negative to my stay at the Marriott: the lack of free wi-fi. It's ridiculous in this day and age that despite paying however much it is for the hotel room, I have to fork over an outrageous fee for wi-fi. Otherwise, my stay was as great as it could possibly be. The lady at the front desk was very polite and actually gave me an upgraded room which was incredible. Quite possibly the best hotel room I have ever stayed in, and that's no small statement. The upgraded room had a bar area, large dining room table, big screen HDTVs in both living room and bedroom, and, my favorite, a piano. That was so very cool, I will never forget my stay at the Marriott because of that piano. (I don't play piano, I just thought it was the coolest thing to have a piano in my room.) The Marriott is about a block away from the JW. They're both nice, tho the JW is certainly newer. Personally, I'd be happy with either, so I'd say go by whichever is cheaper/available at the time. (JW requires you to pay for internet as well fyi). read more

The front desk staff was friendly. My room was normal, nothing fancy, nothing horrible. The vent in the shower is a little creepy, and the room was supposed to have a microwave but did not. If you elect to buy the wifi you can choose if you want dialup speeds or speeds capable of streaming. I didn't use it so I can't review the actual speeds. Concierge wasn't helpful, wound up using Yelp and Google to find what I needed instead. Checkout was quick and easy. The valet team should train the rest of the hotel staff, these guys provided exceptional service. Despite the fact they had to run to a garage and get the car, they always had it ready for you with the heater on within minutes. They were friendly, attentive, had a sense of humor, etc. For being the ones that have to stand in the cold and run back and forth between a garage, they definitely provided the best customer service. read more

Meh. I tend to like Marriott's but then realized that I've actually only liked the Renaissance and the Marriott's in "higher end" cities like Maui and Marco. I felt this hotel was your basic run of the mill larger chains. Stayed here one night while traveling through Indy and for over $200/night, I expected more. Our room was actually big enough as we had an end unit (which kept the hallway noise to a minimum) but the bathroom was on the small side. And while our room seemed clean, the bathroom was disgusting as I found some kind of red stain on the toilet base and shower curtain. Housekeeping really needs to step up the game here. My stars go to the valet/bellhop as they were friendly and professional as well as the girl at the desk upon checkin. read more

The fiancée and I drove to Indy for Thanksgiving and stayed at the Marriott Downtown. It was our first time staying there. The hotel was readily accessible by car. The hotel common areas and guest rooms were modern and clean. The pros: Great downtown location within walking distance to Lucas Oil Stadium and Bankers Life (unfortunately the Colts and Pacers weren't playing during our visit), and downtown restaurants and bars. Affordable room with government/military rate. The rooms had very comfortable beds and fluffy pillows. Housekeeping staff kept the room clean and stocked with fresh towels. Starbucks kiosk, which accepted the Starbucks Reward card, in the lobby. The cons: Parking in the underground garage was exorbitant at $30/day. No free in-room internet ($14.95) unless you're Marriott Rewards Gold level or higher. Starbucks was only open during the morning hours. All in all, we had a pretty good stay and it was still cheaper for us than flying. The next time we're in town, the Marriott Downtown will be at the top of the list of places to stay. read more

This hotel and its staff are awesome! We were originally booked next door at the Westin. When we checked in at the Westin they said they didn't have the room we booked available. So long story short we cancelled our reservations at the Westin and moved here. Check in was smooth and super fast. They even gave us 2 tickets for a free meal At Conner's Corner. The staff at the front desk went above and beyond to satisfy us. Dinner at Conner's was awesome and free. And Conner's isn't a cheap restaurant. We are highly satisfied customers and will certainly recommend this hotel. read more

Stayed here for 4 days and 3 nights because of a wedding that was there and I would say my stay was pleasant, especially during Fourth of July weekend. There were so many events going on like weddings, pageants, and even a Kappa Alpha Psi 100th year celebration. Right across the street from the convention center downtown it was next to a lot of things. We were able to go out, find places to eat all within walking distance. The only thing that was disappointing was that there wasn't really many options of food choices within the hotel. There was Champs Sports Bar that didn't look too exciting so we tried things elsewhere. Since it was such humid weather out there I had such a craving to go swimming and I find out they have an indoor pool! Great! Only problem was it was closed :/ c'mon during the summer?? I did get to use their 24 hour gym which was good- no one was ever in there. The room was nice with a view of the state building and close some museums. More convenient than anything. read more

I stayed here a few months ago for a work conference, and this place did not disappoint. Everyone was super friendly, and even though the place was packed due to the huge convention across the street, they were always cheerful and willing to help with anything you would need. Several times I asked for directions, and the staff at the front desk were happy to help me. My room had a wall light that made a loud buzzing sound, and when I called to ask for maintenance, they sent someone right away to fix it. I noticed someone else said this place had very thin walls, but I have to disagree. I'm a very light sleeper and thin walls really bother me, but I heard nothing from my neighbors during my stay. The room itself was incredibly comfortable and spacious. My nights here were probably the most restful I've ever had in a hotel - that is one awesome bed. But one downside is that my allergies started going haywire, and after my second night I realized it was because the bedding was made of down feathers. I hadn't seen anywhere anything that said they used down comforters and pillows - if I had, I would have requested an allergy-free room. I had booked the room through the convention people, so I don't know if that was why I hadn't been warned about it. Perhaps if I had booked through Marriott itself, I would've been told. By the time I did realize it, I couldn't move rooms since the place was full, but the front desk staff immediately sent someone up with feather-free pillows and a regular blanket. Only other downside to my stay here was the elevator situation. They had six elevators for 19 floors, which you'd think would be sufficient, except I only ever saw two functioning at any one time. It was always a really long wait for the elevator, no matter when I needed to use it. It was especially bad after the gala, when everyone decided to go back upstairs at the same time. The gala was on the 2nd floor, but the wait was so long that people went down to the first floor so they could hop on the elevator, and by the time it got to the 2nd floor, the elevator was packed and none of us could get on. I waited no less than 20 minutes before getting on one that was going down, just so I could stay in there for when it went back up. Overall I really did enjoy my stay here. It has a fantastic location in downtown Indianapolis - and the connection to the skywalk was a LIFESAVER for this constantly freezing Floridian visiting in January. I loved how I could go across to the convention center (my second home during my trip), and from there go down to the mall, all without ever having to step foot outside. I don't know if I'll ever have a need to come back to Indy, but if I do I will absolutely stay here again (and make sure to request a hypoallergenic room). read more

The rooms were clean. Basic hotel amenities were not available. I can appreciate that they are short staffed. But 1 decaf coffee in the room and no coffee cups. There is one microwave for the entire floor as opposed to in room. No in room refrigerator. Little things like no garment bags for dry cleaning. No hot breakfast or grab and go. Not even complementary coffee in the lobby. We stay in hotels for three months in the summer. I've never seen this, short staffed or not. For a high end hotel in downtown Indianapolis it was very disappointing. read more

Overall this hotel was pretty nice. Although I thought the room was a little small and stayed cold the whole time despite the heater being on. The beds were actually really comfortable and with enough covers I slept like a baby . Outside noise really wasn't bad . The front desk staff was friendly and helpful. The housekeeping staff for the most part was really good. I really like the fact that this particular hotel is connected to the Convention Center by a Skywalk. Which means you do not have to go out in the cold air to get to the Convention Center. Which in turn you can go to the mall or number of other places once you get to the convention center. read more

Newly renovated, has a Vegas feel to it (if you dig that) they have a great little food place that has fun snacks and treats along with a hot and fast menu. Room is jam packed with electrical outlets and the decor is calming and on trend. Bed is comfy. Totally happy with the 10 hours I stayed here. read more

I was invited to speak at a School Safety conference in Indianapolis and the venue was the Marriott. A quick can ride ($34) from the airport got me to the front door. Now, I'm not "cheap", but I really dislike it when bellhops grab your bag out of a cab and insist on taking it to the desk. When I need help - great - but don't assume that I want the help and please don't expect a tip for rolling a small overnight bag 30 feet... All hotels would be well served if their bellhops simply asked first. Ok, off my soapbox... The lobby is inviting with a Starbucks and a sports bar type restaurant. The desk staff were very friendly and helpful. My room was clean and roomy and had a full-size ironing board! Yea! If you need to be in downtown and your on an expense account, not a bad choice for a place to lay your head. read more

I keep going back and forth between 3 & 4 stars....Many things I really enjoyed but some things were just weird and kind of off. I was in town for a convention and all the participants were staying at this hotel. The hotel just went through a major renovation so we were all excited to check out the place. I am normally always a fan of Mariotts so my expectations were high. I am gold elite which gives me access to the M Lounge. It was a fabulous one. The lounge was located on the main floor next to the front desk. It was huge and they always had a great selection of bevereages, snacks and coffee. Everyone at the hotel was SUPER nice. Anything you asked they quickly solved or addressed your question. The hotel has a few different places for food. A convenience store type of place, a full service restaurant and bar, and a separate bar (that serves amazing craft cocktails). At night the lobby basically turns into a club. No joke. The lights are dimmed, the music is turned up, it was honestly a great place for all of us to hang after a long day of presentations. The hotel room. It was fine. The beds were very comfy and everything was very clean. A couple "off" things: 1. No fridges (this didn't bother me but some people at my convention were annoyed) 2. No mirrors outside of the bathroom. This is kind of major and honestly super annoying. If you are not staying alone and you are a woman its nice to have a mirror outside of the bathroom so one person can get ready while the other person is showering. One of the convention participants actually went out to the mall and bought a full size mirror. 3. Dust. Everywhere. Yes - they just went through a major renovation but they really need to do some major duct cleaning. You could see the dust coming out of the vents as well as visibly in the air in the conference rooms. A few people said they were not feeling great after staying at the hotel for a few days and they attributed it to the air quality The location of the hotel is great! There are so many places to eat we never felt the need for a car or even to take an Uber. As far as a car goes - try to leave it at home. Parking is an insane $45/day. I don't think I even pay that much in Chicago!! All in all this review could totally be bumped to a 5 star if there would have been mirrors in the rooms and if the air quality was better. It was honestly a really good stay but those 2 things kind of put a dent in overall feelings about the visit. I would totally try this hotel out again if I am in the Indy area! read more

Nice Marriott in a great location download. The rooms were nice, and service at the breakfast restaurant was excellent. If you are looking for a solid hotel to just stay in, seems like a great option. However, we were attending for an event in the ballroom. While we were dancing later in the evening, the hotel cleared the tables of EVERYTHING. Which was really frustrating... We had received gifts from the hosts of the event. We also had put all our photos from the photo booths in our programs. When we came back everything was gone. I personally think this is overstepping a bit since they cleared personal things that did not belong to the hotel F&B department while all attendants were still there. We ended up having to sort through the trash with the hotel staff to try to find our stuff & noticed many other peoples pictures & gifts thrown away as well. So, all in all, would recommend staying there but would not recommend hosting an event there read more

Disappointed-stayed for business Jan. 14 & Jan. 15 2020, I left my eyeglasses in my room after checkout. I called Kevin In loss prevention three times before I got blown off and told they weren't there. He then said I could call the housekeeping department and try to find them and I asked him what would that do, and he said nothing they would send the call back up to him. The glasses were there I took them off before I fell asleep. It's frustrating to me to be blown off when this kind of thing has to happen all the time. I will certainly not use them again and tell my company not to use this hotel EVER again. Clearly they have a department for lost items - so shouldn't Kevin have made some efforts? I called same day. He did say they had to turn the rooms over fast because they were getting a cheerleader convention. I'm so glad they got good service.... UPDATE: This "manager" contacted me 1x and when I tried to call him back he didn't pick up or call me back... fake comment to make it look like they care! I had a very pleasant stay here while in town for a training. It's conveniently located by lots of places to eat and visit nearby. The hotel feels new or recently renovated. All of the staff I interacted with were friendly as well. This is a great event space as it isn't too far from the airport either. They also have a nice work out facility with several cardio and weight machines. I usually have good experiences with Marriott properties, and this one is no different. I'd be happy to stay here again in the future. read more

1. This place doesn't have a pool. JW does. 2. The gym has nice equipment but no way to clean off your machine before/after sweating all over it. We have to hope that the staff is cleaning the machines at least once a day, god I hope so. 3. Don't bring food into the lobby bar. They'll yell the crap out of you and be really really really mean about it. Jerks. I'm so angry about it! Racist possibly. 4. Compared to the Boston Marriott, who emailed us before we arrived and gave us pro tips about the hotel, this one is awful on customer service. Not nice at all. I loved the modernized renovations and the hotel staff were great, but a few things could use improvement: signage on the 1st and 2nd floors for conference rooms are terrible. There's no rhyme or reason to the naming of the rooms (that I could figure out), so it is easy to walk in circles looking for a room; the food at the loaf + vines was terrible with the majority of my cheese on the wrapper and greasy (go to Starbucks instead). The cafe staff were so unfriendly, they really were opposite of front desk staff; and there's no business center available for "non elite" guests to print out business documents, etc. read more

So I will preface this review with noting that I booked this hotel through Priceline's Name Your Price option. I bid on a four star hotel in downtown Indianapolis. This was the hotel I was booked in and it is not a four star hotel and I will explain below. I complained to Priceline citing my issues and they punt it back to the hotel who said they wouldn't do anything for us. The staff at the hotel are nice enough. Everyone is pleasant, says hello and smiles. Their uniforms are worn and tattered much like the hotel. First the common areas: The lobby has stains on the floors near the elevator. The carpets are old and dingy. The pool and whirlpool area has so much potential but is also rundown. The pool's gutters were dirty and the pool is metal, not tile, giving a harsh industrial feel. The hot tub was closed during our stay but I wouldn't go near it if you paid me. Parking is astronomical, especially when you can park at a meter and pay from your smartphone ;) Now our room: drapes, dirty and ripped. Walls, dirty & wall paper was beginning to peel, shower head had some green buildup on it - gross- there was no air vent in the bathroom but some odd vent that was rusty next to the shower head. The bathmat was a rolled up piece of plastic that looked like it was about 10 years old. Hair dryer had no power. The fridge was not cold at all and had mold growing in it (very dangerous for anyone but particularly for someone with cystic fibrosis). We did ask for another fridge which was brought up but it never got cold-we had to keep medication on ice for the two nights we were there. There is no free in room wifi or even bottled water. There is a vending machine on every floor but we had to go to three floors before we found one that worked. I think Priceline just looks at a brand name for its star system and not the actual hotel. There is a newer hotel , the JW Marriott across the street & I am sure that's got to be a 5 star. We stopped in a couple of other hotels since we'll be back in Indy soon and the Westin next door and the Hampton nearby are both much cleaner and you get free wifi in your room!! Imagine that!!! I'll post some pictures of our room & you be the judge. Four stars?!? I think not!! We've stayed in a three star Raddison in Racine, WI every year that is way cleaner and offers more amenities. read more

I stayed here for business at the end of July. I've never stayed at a worse hotel in this price range. The conference rooms are ok, but forget about getting food/drink service unless you want to pay an enormous premium. There is nothing nearby, so if you're staying and working there, be prepared to have every meal at one of the hotel restaurants. Breakfast $18, Lunch $25, Dinner $25+ The room I stayed in was, perhaps, the most underwhelming part of my stay. Ice bucket, small flatscreen, insanely uncomfortable king bed, Low-speed, High cost WiFi($16 per day), and it came complete with two clipped toenails in the bathroom doorway that were present when I checked in and present when I checked out seven days later. Do you like to sleep at a temperature of your choosing? There is a temperature control in the room, but I think it's just for show. I set it to 68 degrees, and my watch read 76. First let me state the positive things. The staff was very nice, if not exceptional. Frankly that's harder to accomplish than the things that were not great, so they should be commended for that. My wife booked this room for one night downtown for my birthday. We have two little ones so a night away is like a gift from heaven. The primary thing we look forward to is the sleep. I literally haven't slept past 7am in three years, so this was the greatest birthday present ever. Our room, however, was not conducive to this great gift. My belief is that hotels have to do 2 things well to have a satisfied customer, a great sleep and a great shower. The bed was ok, the pillows ok too. However the room lacked one important feature, the ability to leave a fan circulating the block out the constant activity that comes with a large hotel. I don't think I've ever been in a room that has no fan control feature on a thermostat, but we found it. So instead of a glorious sleep, we listened to our neighbors on the floors around us slamming doors, flushing toilets, and copulating. Needless to say, it wasn't the best sleep of my life. I'm sure they save a boatload on electrical costs with this limitation of the fan in rooms. Not sure it's worth the frustration of guests. If you're looking for a room in downtown Indy where you can get sleep, I encourage another location. read more

While the situation I dealt with was inconvenient, I really appreciated the prompt response from the Marriott management. I felt that Ryan handled the issue very professionally and I was more than satisfied by the efforts made to reach out to me. As mentioned in my prior review, the overnight staff member was extremely helpful and polite, so it appears to be a single staff member who made an error. read more

I stayed here in August 2009 for DCI -- and it proved to be an excellent hotel choice! Its location is hard to beat, right on Maryland for proximity to restaurants, bars and the mall, and about a 15 minute walk to Lucas Oil Stadium for the main event along Capitol. Add unfailingly friendly and polite staff, and comfortable, quiet guest rooms, this was an excellent combination! The only slight let-down is some of the issues relating to their food service in the main restaurant (Circle City), particularly at breakfast. Being made to wait 20 minutes for breakfast on a Saturday morning, then having to remind the host that I was on the waitlist, then getting into the restaurant and finding a *ton* of tables empty is not a good customer experience. Also, on a different morning, multiple servers tried to claim my table, and one of said servers became slightly snippy with me over it -- not my problem if you can't organize yourselves properly, I'm afraid. For food at other times, Champions (the in-house sports bar) is a much stronger bet (and will receive its own review). Pricewise: It's a Marriott, it's going to be slightly spendy. The $12 for 24hrs Internet is good and reliable, and also includes free local and national calls -- so that strikes me as a fair extra. For the location and (general) standard of service, paying $180/night for a dual occupancy room is not unreasonable, so it's a straight 4* review. Does what it claims to do, and does it well -- but no real spark to get that last star. read more

I was here for a short stay of one night. The hotel is attached to the convention center and is very welcome place to hold an event. The rooms were spacious and clean. Furniture is well maintained along with a large television and a refrigerator. The heat didn't work when I first arrived. A call to front desk and the repair was made by the hotel dude within 15 min. Bathroom is big with good water pressure and old fashion shaving mirrors that extend from the wall. Main room is long and closets are plentiful. The room service is not bad, selection is limited and they charge a lot for a service fee to bring the food. The staff was helpful on all levels. The sound system in the conference center is weak way below standards. Something to consider if you want to plan a big event here. The meeting rooms are nice and big decorated with some class. Overall my stay was enjoyable parking was easy and the price was right. Impressive lobby and plenty of places to eat nearby. read more
