10-day followup: I received a charge for $331 today, 10 days after returning the vehicle. I reached out to customer support to ask what the charge was for, however the chat bot was only able to state either damages or toll fees. We did not take toll roads so it would imply damages. I asked to speak to a "live agent" which is still a chat bot, but they give you their "name". I asked for a list of damages (since the vehicle came in horrendous condition) and was told I had to submit an email form because they didn't know. I submitted an email and received an email back that they "don't operate their business this way", bla bla, and I would receive a credit for $368 for the condition I received the vehicle in. I still asked for a breakdown of the damages I supposedly caused and how I caused them 10 days after drop-off (was it the next renter? their staff? someone with access to the vehicle? something already present?) and then received another email that I would actually only receive a $42 credit because of the $326 in outstanding damages. I replied asking how the $311 for damages suddenly became $326 and why nobody could tell me what the damages WERE, what type of damage, what proof they had the vehicle was damaged (was it inside? outside? what was it?) and asked for an itemized breakdown, but then they stopped responding. I filed a claim with the BBB however they are rated F, not accredited, and all other BBB claims say they were not responded to so it won't go anywhere. Just stay away. read more

1. There was dirty bedding from the previous renter left in the van. 2. I noticed before we left for our trip that the registration had expired a year and a half ago. I was stressed about getting pulled over for it the entire time. 3. The carbon monoxide detector started beeping twice in the middle of the night, not due to a leak, due to a faulty system. Horrible to wake up to. 4. Most of the lights were broken and did not work. 5. They did not set up the water tank correctly before we left, so we were on the phone with customer service for over three hours. They eventually found a mobile repair guy that we had to meet up with who fixed it. This took up an entire day of our trip. 6. Then customer service had the audacity to say, can't you just go without water? I was furious! We had not planned to go dry camping. We planned to have a camper with water and heat a working stove top. 7. Customer service was AI for the majority of the three hours. And they kept telling us we did something wrong. Which we didn't. The repair man even said the van was a piece of junk and that we should never rent from this place ever again. 8. The water tank fill, was leaking so bad. The repair guy had to fix that as well. 9. When you try to use the shower, it is not sealed, and water pours out all over the living area. 10. You can only use the toilet to pee, toilet paper will not even drain down the hole, you have to put it in a trash bag. Yet another broken item. 11. The back door won't open from the outside, only from the inside. And with the bed down, this is extremely difficult to access. 12. The battery does not last the night, with the fridge being cooled. Nothing else plugged in. When the manager at the depot center said that it would last and we wouldn't have a problem with it at all. LIES! 13. Don't even get me started on all of the rips in the pop-up tent. Water got in, bugs got in. Every screen had huge rips in it. 14. Not all of the windows had coverings. We had to create our own. 15. Not all the windows had screens. So you could not open them or bugs would get in. 16. The bug screens that they do have are ripped and broken 17. Rent from Travelers Auto Barn instead. I've had incredible experiences with them. 18. Indie campers is a waste of time and money. Do not get scammed. 19. I wouldn't be surprised if there was a class action lawsuit against them, at least at this location. read more

Overall, this fell short and fell short hard. The Comfort RV honestly met bare minimum expectations. It was a place to sleep, place to clean off, and car to drive. Truly that was it as everything else was more stressful and thank God Yosemite is as beautiful and freeing it is to be able to not let a rental ruin the full experience. I would proceed with caution as issues definitely arose. There were quite a few things that were wrong. First, the quick guide video QR code is for a different/newer model of the van. Understanding how each component worked was different and not accurate. The team had explained everything in a brief 10 minute walk around which was helpful. But also very overwhelming because again the vehicle was different than the one in the video. When we came to pick-up, the vehicle had to get a whole new door latch because the previous one was broken and they replaced it with the same lock and key that the technician even said was cheap quality and we had to be mindful of that the whole trip worried it would break again. Our first night, the car wouldn't start. No battery nothing. Had to call a Park Ranger come out and see if we can jump start the car and no luck. We then had to talk with the "Support" which is an absolute joke. You get connected to a team in the United Kingdom or India and barely are any help and tell you, "Connect via WhatsApp" to another person you can't call or talk to. It was beyond ridiculous to get a hold of someone at all let alone help at all besides waiting for them to review a video you send them. Then they have you wait for a tow to come out for another 2 hours. Thank God we had the Park Ranger to help and actually found out that the battery cables to the battery were not even fully connect to the terminals and therefore that's why the car couldn't start or use the battery, while support is saying it's the drivers fault. Ended up paying money out of our pocket to the Ranger for helping us and the mechanics who came to tighten the bolts that saved us $100's from "Indie Campers Support Team." Truly proceed with some caution and make sure to do a through check of the whole vehicle as well. The bathroom looks like there is mold on the ground too and did not feel safe for my pregnant wife. What could've been a great birthday celebration turned to stress and chaos each day. read more

Absolutely do not use this company. It's a complete sham business. They have no customer service literally, as in the only avenue for communication is a chat bot. I managed to find a different customer service line that was in Portugal. They were extremely unhelpful. If you read the reviews you will understand that it is a bait and switch business. They will book you the van or rv you requested at a specific price point and then last minute switch you to whatever works logistically for them. DO NOT RENT HERE. AVOID AT ALL COSTS! Just read all the other reviews, the exact same thing WILL happen to you. I booked months in advance, showed up the day of my booking to pickup my van and SURPRISE SURPRISE...they sneakily tried to put me into another model WITHOUT SAYING ANYTHING ABOUT IT. Luckily I was keen on their tactics and did all of my research to know that they were putting me in a model WITHOUT AIR CONDITIONING when I specifically booked the model WITH AIR CONDITIONING because we were camping in 90+ degree weather. (Solis vs Solis AIR) They put me in an "Upgraded RV", huh....very interesting that the UPGRADED RV costs less than half of what I paid for the Solis Air that I booked. On top of that, there was a LITANY of things broken inside this so called "Upgraded RV". The shore power system COMPLETELY BROKEN, the battery system would fail after literally 2 minutes when the RV was turned off and all the alarms inside the RV would start beeping like crazy, carbon dioxide alarm broken, Fridge broken, generator wont start ETC. Support team? Nope. You get to message a WhatsApp channel that will literally send you ChatGPT copy/pasted messages. Then they will send you nearby RV service centers for you to go pay for repairs. HAHAHAHA. I'm not kidding it's that bad. At the end of all of this, they offer me $30 in compensation. A literal legal theft operation running in broad daylight. read more

DO NOT RENT FROM THIS COMPANY -- COMPLETE SCAM This company is an absolute scam. They sent me up into the cold mountains in a van that they claimed had a working gas pilot, but then told me "the meter is broken" and I'd "just have to stop somewhere for gas." Um, what?! Checking in and out took almost THREE hours each way -- the most disorganized process I've ever seen. Once I actually got the van, the heat didn't work at all. I ended up having to book a hotel room because it was literally too cold to stay in the van. I spent zero time "enjoying" the rental -- just driving it up and down while freezing. And the customer service? NONEXISTENT. I was forced to talk to a bot the entire time, and when I finally got through to someone IN PERSON....they offered me a pathetic $14 refund for the propane I wasted. Fourteen dollars. After all the money I spent. This was the biggest waste of money -- overpriced, unreliable, unsafe, and zero support. Do NOT recommend. If you want an adventure, save yourself the headache: get a hotel and rent a normal car. This company is the worst. read more

We rented a campervan which the fold down bed wouldn't open. Ended up having to sleep in a tent and on the reclined passenger seat. NEVER AGAIN would I rent from this company. read more

The water didn't work, the heater didn't work, the bathroom door wouldn't stay shut while driving, the registration was expired, the oil change was 1000 miles overdue, the ladder broke while I was trying to go up and getting roadside assistance was a terrible experience, they didn't help at all. Terrible experience - deposit never refunded and no customer service I rented a camper van from Indie Campers in the United States for 27 days. When I returned it, I was told that my security deposit of over €500 would be refunded within 30 business days. It's now been far beyond that deadline and I've never received my money back. I've sent several emails and WhatsApp messages, but no one ever replied. This is completely unacceptable and unprofessional for a company operating internationally. There's no transparency, no communication, and zero respect for their customers. I strongly advise against renting with Indie Campers -- if something goes wrong, they'll simply ignore you. read more

If your travel plans change, do not expect any support from Indie Campers. Their customer service is offshore, powerless to actually help, and offers no flexibility. The cancellation policy is predatory -- they will unapologetically keep your money and refuse to issue travel credits or rebooking options for future dates. On top of that, their pricing is misleading. What looks like a "$59/day camper" quickly balloons into $200+ a day once they tack on excessive "preparation fees" and overpriced insurance. It feels intentionally deceptive. This company is horribly run, with no care for customers and every intention of squeezing as much money out of you as possible without providing real service. Do yourself a favor and go with a different company. Indie campers had reasonable rates and decent reviews (although do some research and you'll see my issue is a common issue), but they will try to charge you for anything on the back end. We picked up our camper which was missing a mirror in the closet (entire section broken out) and the outdoor shower had a key stuck in it that was only discovered when we were doing the pickup with the indie camper representative. Upon return, after a week they had with the RV. We were charged $800 for a "superficial scratch" related to that same outdoor shower that clearly had an issue at pickup. After multiple emails back and forth, they would not provide clear pictures of the scratch and they would not let me talk to anyone locally on the phone (nor could customer support actually help with anything over the phone). They are unethical and could care less about client service. Go with someone else. read more

Save your money and a whole lot of frustration. Do not rent from this company. They broke their contract with me to provide a safe RV and I am still fighting with the company to get my money back. I had tried to call the San Diego office a few days prior to confirm the reservation, change the drop off time, ask questions about their cleaning fees but they have no local phone number. I was routed to a call center in India. There is no way to directly talk to the person you are renting a RV from. On the scheduled rental day, I arrived at the unmarked, filthy San Diego office (which was so gross it must violate a variety of healthy or safety codes) to find that the RV assigned to me was not in safe driving condition. The vanity cabinet inside the RV was broken with the shattered glass insert held together with tape. Broken glass in the passenger compartment of a moving vehicle is unacceptable to me. Not only was the RV dangerous to drive, but it had not been cleaned - dirty dishes in the sink, mouse droppings under the bed, exposed sewer hose in the under-bed outside storage, a horrible mold like stench throughout the RV, sand in the shower, ect. I was specifically told there was no other RV available for me to rent during my reservation window and there was no way to fix the dangerous cabinet in less than 24 hours. I walked away with no RV, and desperately scrambling to save my kids' spring break. I tried to call but got nowhere. I have sent multiple emails which have resulted in cut and paste style responses. They broke their contract with me to provide a safe RV and a month later I am still fighting with the company to get my money back. read more
