As a fellow Indonesian, this place is pretty good. Especially when the only time I can get some Indonesian food is when I make it myself. It's hard to find Indonesian places in the US, though luckily it's a bit more common in California. For ambiance, this is actually a place I prefer to get my food to go. It's a little busy on the weekends when I have time to go, and it's a bit of a tight squeeze inside. Think of like the inside of a gas station or 7/11 with some tables squeezed inside. Not my fave to sit in, but the food is pretty good. I've gotten the Nasi Goreng Ayam (chicken friend rice), Nasi Goreng Kambing (lamb fried rice), Risoles, and Soto Ayam Kuning. Chicken friend rice is def good, especially when you add some of the red sambal they give you (an asian spicy hot sauce), but not totally authentic with how they serve it Indonesian style. The gooeyness of the yolk mixed in the rice is part of what makes it so yummy. But still good the way they make it. Same for the lamb fried rice, but again still good. Just wish it had the over easy egg. Between the two, loved the chicken fried rice more than the lamb. The risoles could have been cooked longer, but I'm basing this off of my Oma's recipes, so maybe I'm being a little biased here. Still very good though - just a bit too wet (if that makes sense) when biting inside. The Soto Ayam Kuning was actually the best. Again, not exactly like my Oma's recipe so I'm a bit biased once again, but it was delicious in its own way. The mix of egg, vermicelli noodles, rice, friend onions, and veggies made it at least reminiscent of my Oma's recipe and it was delicious still even if it wasn't exactly like me Oma's (yes, I get that's a hard thing to reach to). Would def order again. Overall, love this place for some yummy Indonesian food to-go or via DoorDash. Ps. when I'm inside I always buy some Indonesian snacks in the "gas station side" of the restaurant like krupuk (shrimp crackers) and sambal. read more

We came on Sunday 1/18 around 5.30 pm... ordered batagor and nasi padang. Batagor has a good amount but tastes just okay. Nasi Padang comes as disappointment because it's bland for me. The hot sauce comes separately although I asked for 2 extra hot sauce and mix it inside still kind of bland for me. The rice is way too soft. I recently tried their vegetarian mie goreng. It was super good with little chunks of tofu and all that sweet soy sauce that the noodles are stir fried in. Service has always been friendly and prompt. That hasn't changed and I've been coming for years. The interior of the restaurant is a little dark, but they've plenty of space, even for larger gatherings. Such a wonderful experience! My coworker grew up in Indonesia and so we came for my birthday lunch. The employee at the counter was very warm and inviting. They have a little market you can purchase a good variety of Indonesian snacks and seasoning. I got the chicken fried rice and it was one of the best I have ever had. I'm sad they did not have any chicken satay when we went I am a sucker for some peanut sauce! I also got to try the fried tofu dish and it was so flavorful and fresh with lots of veggies inside. Indo bistro has a wide menu that made me want to ordee everything. I ordered the Nasi bungkus, Nasi Kuning, and Nasi gudeg. It's basically a rice set with different items such as chicken, beef or vegetables. The Nasi bungkus had beef rendang, chicken, boiled egg, and kale. I liked the flavors but the beef was hard. The Nasi Kuning had beef rendang, fried chicken, perkedel potatoes, and sambal. I prefered this dish more because of the flavors that work well together. Love the Pempek kapal selam ( fried egg fishcake ) savory and delicious with spicy, sour and sweet sauce that came with it. For Es Doger: shave ice mixed with black sticky rice, shredded young coconut, sweet coconut based with fermented cassava. Very delicious taste especially during hot summer days. I got the Nasi Bungkus Padang. First time ever trying Indonesian food. Incredible dish. What cuisine! The meats and rice were so well spiced and fragrant, the dish came steaming in this beautiful BANANA LEAF! The chili relish (2 types) that came with it were potent and paired well. The 3 types of meats had different textures (crunchy, stewed, and fall-off-the bone) which was amazing. The greens were yummy umami/coconut flavor, and the boiled egg was also nutritious. For $15 it's a great portion and extra meat and rice I am taking home. I would have loved some fresh toppings like a "side salad" type thing just for balance/ nutrition but nonetheless this is their cuisine and I'm sure not how the dish is supposed to come. INCREDIBLY CLEAN AND AIR CONDITIONED. Felt so hygienic here. The staff is always cleaning and so welcoming and nice. Great service and a cute array of Indonesian people eating here too which attests to its authenticity. I am very happy finding this gem closer from where I live. I used to eat their sister property in West Covina, however the trip is pretty painful due to the long distance. After eating here more than 10 times, it's about time to chop down some notes. Indo Bistro has become one of my go-to places. I've tried a variety of dishes here and have enjoyed every single one. My favorite breakfast/brunch item is Bubur Ayam, which is actually served all day. It hands down beats the competition due to the generous size, strong texture and the extra kick of gravy that is served on the side. Another one of my favorites is Nasi Empal. The beef is very flavorful and a huge portion. Great value for the money. Overall, prices are pretty moderate, ranging from $11-16 for most dishes. As appetizers, I recommend the Siomai Bandung (steamed veggies and egg with peanut sauce) or the Sate. The skewers of Sate Ayam are thick and juicy, not skinny like some competitors. Pro tip; if you don't care for the rice cake (Lontong), just ask for meat-only and you will get 5 skewers for the price of 4. The setting is in the corner of a strip mall and laid out like a store. They have shelves with standard Indonesian non-perishables, like Sambal ABC, Krupuk, Bumbu, IndoMie and BlueBand. They get crowded on weekends, but I've always been able to get a table without waiting. They accept credit cards via Square. Food is non-pork. Parking is easy and plenty. Dang! I am pretty impressed by Indo Bistro. I am a sucker for good Indonesian food and this was definitely so flavorful. I finished the whole noodle dish even though usually I can maybe finish about half of it. It was so good! FAVE ITEMS: - Mie Ayam Jamur (Chicken Mushroom Noodle): this was really delicious! I loved how the ground chicken and mushroom created a umami taste that paired so well with the chewy noodles. Would highly recommend this one! - Mie Goreng Jawa (w/ chicken, egg, and cabbage): with the egg noodle! this was pretty flavorful too! More intense than the other, but solid. I think I prefer the Mie Ayam Jamur personally but this one was really really good as well. SERVICE: pretty good! It's a small mom-and-pop shop, they check up on you pretty frequently. PARKING: located in a plaza, so parking was pretty decent PRICE: pretty reasonable for what you get. I think each dish was around $11-13.
