We came on Sunday 1/18 around 5.30 pm... ordered batagor and nasi padang. Batagor has a good amount but tastes just okay. Nasi Padang comes as disappointment because it's bland for me. The hot sauce comes separately although I asked for 2 extra hot sauce and mix it inside still kind of bland for me. The rice is way too soft. Service is great though; she is very friendly and very approachable.

Indo Bistro always wows me with its generous portions and not just for its entrees. You can come here hungry, order one thing, and leave absolutely stuffed. I recently tried their vegetarian mie goreng. It was super good with little chunks of tofu and all that sweet soy sauce that the noodles are stir fried in. Service has always been friendly and prompt. That hasn't changed and I've been coming for years. The interior of the restaurant is a little dark, but they've plenty of space, even for larger gatherings. The location is convenient as you can do your shopping at grocery outlet and come over for a quick lunch afterwards.

Such a wonderful experience! My coworker grew up in Indonesia and so we came for my birthday lunch. The employee at the counter was very warm and inviting. They have a little market you can purchase a good variety of Indonesian snacks and seasoning. I got the chicken fried rice and it was one of the best I have ever had. I'm sad they did not have any chicken satay when we went I am a sucker for some peanut sauce! I also got to try the fried tofu dish and it was so flavorful and fresh with lots of veggies inside. My coworker let me try his dish and the chick was amazing it had a bbq type flavor. I am so excited to go back and enjoy more of this beautiful food!

Indo bistro has a wide menu that made me want to ordee everything. I ordered the Nasi bungkus, Nasi Kuning, and Nasi gudeg. It's basically a rice set with different items such as chicken, beef or vegetables. The Nasi bungkus had beef rendang, chicken, boiled egg, and kale. I liked the flavors but the beef was hard. The Nasi Kuning had beef rendang, fried chicken, perkedel potatoes, and sambal. I prefered this dish more because of the flavors that work well together. The Nasi Gudeg had tofu, boiled egg, chicken, jackfruit, and tempeh. This dish is a bit on the sweeter side. Definitely the best out of the three. They also sell snacks and deserts. A great option to pick up food.

Pempek Kapal selam & Es Doger

Love the Pempek kapal selam ( fried egg fishcake ) savory and delicious with spicy, sour and sweet sauce that came with it. For Es Doger: shave ice mixed with black sticky rice, shredded young coconut, sweet coconut based with fermented cassava. Very delicious taste especially during hot summer days. The only thing that I don't like is the wait time sometimes too long to make it. Im not sure if they don't have enough staff or they have too many orders to make at the same time. But I always enjoy coming here whenever I visit Southern California. You may call them & order from the menu ahead of time before coming in. This is one of the best Indonesian food I've ever had in SoCal

Updating my review for a DoorDash order. I was surprised to see that the portion size was rather small compared to usual. I'm not sure if this is normal for their food delivery orders or if it was a one-off occurrence, but it's something to keep in mind. That said, everything was packed well, and the flavors were as good as usual.

Solid Indonesian fare in a non-descriptive strip mall. Food was good and portions were large. Good value. I had the grilled chicken (basically bbq chicken) and my wife had the chicken porridge. BBQ chicken was a little dry but flavorful. Came with fried tofu, fried tempeh, a potato ball thingie, rice and a surprisingly good tamarind soup. Friendly service. The place was pretty crowded on a Sunday evening.

Second time here ! This time we tried the: NASI IGA BAKAR which is BBQ ribs. Meat was very tender and coated with its flavorful sauce! NASI GORENG KORNET is a Corned Beef fried rice dish that's stir fried with egg, peas and carrots. SATE AYAM is Chicken Satay which is grilled marinated chicken skewers served with peanut dipping sauce ! During our first visit to experience the taste of Indonesia Cuisine. We were able to chat with one of the chef to ask him what kind of seasonings are used in their dishes. Galangal has that peppery and earthy taste making their dishes yummy! Blended seasonings of nutmeg, cloves, pandan , candlenut, and black nut are mainly ingredients in Indo cooking ! Hubby's and my first Indo experience was very satisfying that made us come back! We had the : NASI BUNGKUS PADANG, a banana leaf wrapped steamed white rice with savory crispy beef, curried beef, chicken, salted egg, coconut milk and chili sauce!!!! Loved the SATE PADANG which is Beef Satay made of tender beef tongue skewers served with a tangy dipping sauce. A dessert is a must which was served first before our meal !!! ES SHANGHAI, a shaved ice with palm seed, lychee, jackfruit, black grass cubed jelly and young coconut topped with condensed milk. Definitely will be coming back to devour more Indo dishes!!!

Kwetiauw siram sapi (beef) is so tasty! 34. Kwetiau Goreng / Siram Sapi (Beef Stir-Fried Wide Flat Rice Noodle without Gravy)

Mon and pops Indonesian bistro with small dry goods store section. Warm and friendly reception. Place clean. Have not tried Indonesian cuisine before coming here. Ordered nasi bungkus padam (banana leaf wraped rice with beef, chicken & coconut milk) & sate Padang (beef satay) and they were delicious. Got ES SHANGHAI for dessert (shaved ice w/ jack fruit. Palm seed, young coconut, black grass & lychee for dessert.,Sweet and satisfying. It was an enjoyable first time experience. Had to come back again about a couple of weeks later and try other dishes. This time we ordered beef bbq, corned beef fried rice and chicken satay. All good delicious and full of flavor. Peanut sauce matched well with chicken satay and sweet bbq sauce complemented the tender fall off the bone meat of the beef. Didn't have room for dessert anymore but we both enjoyed our dinner. Recommends a visit to this place for a good Indonesian cuisine experience.

The food is good, i like the padang and mie ayam. The service is good and friendly. The place is clean and spacious. It's big enough for parties. They have a lot of Indonesian food. Their price is affordable. Must try the menu!! :)

Colton?! Really? When I used to live here for my bachelors at UC Riverside I could only get Indo groceries here. It is only after I left, this place grew to have more authentic Asian food. Smh

    Sate ayam
    Karina S.

A great cozy & small Indonesian restaurant! There aren't too many Indonesian restaurants in the Bay Area so it's always great to have some down in SoCal. Great menu variety, and the dishes I've tried here all satisfy my cravings. I've had the sate ayam, risoles, mie ayam, gado gado, and nasi empal. Great portion sizes and prices as well. Sate was very flavorful and tender, and the peanut sauce it came with was amazing. It is a small business and can get pretty busy during peak meal times, so don't be surprised if there is a bit of a wait for your food.

The special combo rice plate included a piece of chicken on a bed of shredded cabbage, what looked like two types of rice, some beef rendang, a side of curry that had green beans, onions, and chayote. And a nice fried boiled egg. I might be missing a meat, but it was a really wonderful sampler of some of their delicious dishes and thought it was great. The gado gado was actually delicious, I love their peanut sauce that goes great with the tofu, melon/radish, and egg! The cocopandan soda was pretty good, tasted like a cream soda/italian cream soda but when you get that cocopandan froth it's definitely more distinct! I don't think it has a strong pandan coconut flavor but it's good! I actually really liked their pastries--we had the Risole, Lemper, Dutch roll, and banana chocolate roll. When we come back I'd really like to try some noodle dishes and their Kaya toast! Risole was delicious, the roll is soft and tastes like a chicken pot pie, it comes with this absolutely addicting orange sauce, which was my personal favorite from the ones we tried. The lemper was warm, sticky rice well made with a sort of curry chicken inside. We had more of the addicting orange sauce. The Dutch roll is beef and kale mix, reminded me of a meat pie, it was still crispy on the outside. The banana chocolate roll is exactly what you'd expect! Pretty good. My husband originally wanted to order the Char Siu Rice, but unfortunately it wasn't available on Sunday at 3 PM, so he switched to the Nasi Lemak Chicken--and it turned out to be a great choice. Easily 10/10. The chicken was incredibly tender, and the rice was fragrant and flavorful. I ordered the Curry Laksa, which came with tender chicken, fish balls, tofu, vegetables, and boiled egg. The portion was quite generous for a single dish. They also offer two noodle options--egg noodles or rice noodles--and I chose the egg noodles (pictured). While the ingredients and portion were excellent, the broth was not as rich and savory as I expected, especially since laksa broth usually has such a distinctive flavor. I'd still give it an 8/10 overall. One thing I really appreciated was that they offered sambal prawn as a condiment, something not commonly found at other Malaysian restaurants. I also tried the iced Teh Tarik, but it tasted a bit too watered down for my liking, so I probably wouldn't order it again. Service-wise, one staff member seemed a little overwhelmed when we arrived and didn't acknowledge us, so we seated ourselves at an available empty table. They also have a small grocery section where you can purchase authentic Malaysian dry goods. I picked up a Pandan Kaya Toast Jam. The restaurant itself is simple and casual, with no fancy décor--but the food is the main attraction here. Will definitely be back to try more items on the menu!
