Had the pleasure of eating here twice. The first with Kai who helped walk us through the Indian Asian infusion restaurant. The chicken Tikka Marsala the ribs , mushrooms and garlic nann. Today ate here again before heading home Nd tried the chicken spring rolls, mushrooms (these can be a meal with rice), chicken tikka Marsala garlic nann and the white rice. Again it was exceptional. I went here during a stay at the Hyatt Centric. Totally not what I was expecting! The food was high end Indian / Asian. Prices were great. Everything was fresh and handmade. Had the chicken malai kebab entree and it was the best I've ever had. The service was efficient and polite. There was a good crowd, but I didn't feel rushed at all. 4.5 stars. Very high quality. Prices just a tad bloated. The Mandarin Pompano is particularly delicious. I picked it by hand and dipped it in the sauce. This kept the bites crispy and allowed me to regulate sauce per bite. The whole fried sardines are outstanding. Lamb dumplings are great. Chow mein is quite nice. The crispy kale chat is a STANDOUT!! We found this restaurant on yelp and wanted to give it a try. It's located inside a hotel but it's not a hotel restaurant, it's a completely separate business. Food was delicious and the staff was very nice and attentive. Inside vibes and decore are modern, only downside is they close early (9pm). Stopped in at about 8:45 pm. A couple of tables were dining. We sat at bar. Waitress was in and out of kitchen and came to bar twice. Did not say boo! The food was good. The service is really friendly, and it was an ideal place to meet in a large group for a conversation. A lot of places are very loud and difficult to carry on a normal conversation with a large group. This place is ideal for that. So the food is good the space is ideal for larger groups. read more

Checked this place out on a rainy afternoon since i was craving a warm comfort meal. I had an excellent experience from both a food and service perspective. The lunch special portions were more than generous and had me taking home a heft box of leftovers for the family. The owner even came over and asked me about my meal. Another fabulous meal at IndoChen in Alexandria. This time we took our children and grandchildren. Nothing can compare to the welcoming atmosphere, beautiful presentation of the dishes served and the quality of both Asian and American foods. Our grandchildren loved the kids menu and our 9 year old gave 3 thumbs up for the mango/yogurt drink plus the mango dessert. This place is pristine and the food just wonderful. This Indochen location opened recently in north Old Town. It's exactly like the original, an absolutely delicious, high quality and elevated Indian inspired menu with great bang for the buck. All plates are affordable and of the utmost quality. Great for sharing. The lamb and pork belly are especially delicious. The service was very attentive too. We had stopped for a quick drink for happy hour and had such a delightful experience that we came back later for dinner. Our early server Riya, was such a delight and helpful that we had to find her for our dinner as well. The food also was a great reason to come back for dinner and did not disappoint. We started with crispy kale chat that was a delightful surprise, being something we hadn't expected to order, but was recommended by Riya. For dinner, the Palek Paneer was very flavorful with just the right amount of spice, cheese and creaminess. Excellent. Owner is in top of the food quality and service. I've been to many Indian restaurants in the DMV area and cannot recommend this place enough. This is a quiet unassuming Nepalese restaurant in Old Town Alexandria on King Street attached to the lobby of a hotel -- Hyatt-Centric. I loved it. Authentic cuisine tastefully prepared and served. I started with a spicy lentil soup that was superb. My dessert was a Nepalese mango "popsicle" -- very unique! The staff, which is mostly Indian/Nepalese students, is mature, friendly and most helpful. A fine young man named Kazie was my waiter. An A+ also for the ambience and low-level lighting and silvery decor. Very soothing. I no longer eat out much because the quality of the food and service seems to have declined just about everywhere. Not here. I dined with dignity and grace. A most pleasurable way to end a Sunday evening, I will return to sample additional dishes. read more

I have been to their original location mostly for take out and mostly from the Indian side of the menu. I visited this location because a friend was visiting and staying nearby and I wanted to check it out. I'm so glad I did, the food was absolutely amazing. We tried so many items in menu, I wish I had time to take pictures of any of it. The Chinese side of the menu is so flavorful and some of it with just a subtle kick of Indian flavors... sooo good. The only thing that was unexpected is that it is located inside the lobby of a hotel so it didn't feel like I was eating in a restaurant, but I would still come back here. The manager was also very kind and gave us a rice pudding to share because we ended up closing the place out. Definitely give this place a try! read more

This was by far the absolute worst meal I've ever eaten out. The smokey, intense, pungent spices were the same in every dish. They lingered on your pallet like barnacles on an old ship- endlessly hanging there causing your mouth to have a taste similar to if you had chewed and eaten incense. They served these horrible meals with smiles and care. I heard the other customers complain as well. (there was only one other table.) They would do better serving do-it -yourself hot dogs on a roller like in a Wawa. It is the afternoon of the next day and I'm still sickened by this horrid dinner. GO ELSEWHERE! Went here on a Saturday night and was seated immediately. Opened about a year ago along with the Hyatt hotel. Situated in the actual lobby but doesn't feel weird. Absolutely outstanding Indian food - I've spent about 5 month total traveling all over in India and this place is the real deal. Very reasonable prices and would pay much more.
