Caught a quick meal at this modern restaurant in the heart of Old Town Alexandria just a few minutes down the road on foot from the Amtrak station. The food was authentic and tasty, service top notch, staff attentive and friendly, and the dishes were beautiful (should have taken a pic of them), not at all what one would have expected from a restaurant in the lobby of a standard Hilton Hotel. This is one of our top go to restaurants in the area. Our son goes to the daycare next door so we find ourselves dining there frequently. The food is delicious and well plated, cocktails are on point, cozy ambience, and best of all, service is always friendly and cheerful. Everyone has been patient and kind towards our toddler. During our last visit, our server Kazi went above and beyond to provide food suggestions and even let us sample a dessert before we ordered. So lucky to have this restaurant nearby! Not a hotel restaurant at all, this is an excellent restaurant that happens to be located in a hotel! Service has been solid every time we've been, and in addition to good mixed drinks, we appreciate that they have a couple non-alcoholic mixed drinks for when the designated driver doesn't just want a Coke or water. So far we've mostly sampled the more Indian options, chicken tikka masala bowl and chickpea curry bowls were both good lunch options, and our companion's butter chicken wrap looked delicious. By far though, our favorite has been the chicken biryani, which is one of the best I've had in a long time. It's absolutely massive, enough for at least 2-3, maybe 4 if you're getting an appetizer and some naan or other sides. Super flavorful, and with a lot of thought on the spices and flavors. First time here for Alexandria RW and was taken aback when I realized this was in the Hyatt Centric! Ambiance is good - modern and bright inside with plenty of seating at the bar. Easy free street parking on Harvard (2 hour residential parking) or you can pay to park on King. We all did the RW menu - I got the kale chaat and lamb Rogan josh and finished off with the Gulab jamun. The kale chaat was great! Crispy leafettes, tang from the chutney, and the yogurt sauce on top balanced it out. The lamb rogan josh was good but my friend's butter chicken was better. I think it was slightly too greasy for my liking but that's personal preference. The Gulab jamun for dessert was my favorite - I could've eaten ten of those. All in all, great deal for RW ($25!) and I'm excited they're in the neighborhood and to try more things! read more

Yummy Indian food at a good price given how nice the restaurant is. We were looking for some options for lunch that were close to the King Street metro station, and seeing the menu prices for IndoChen was the biggest draw for us. I didn't expect the place to be as fancy as it was, it's got a nice ambiance and is connected to the Hyatt hotel lobby. We were seated right away and had a nice and attentive server. We had the Butter Chicken and Rogan Josh for $15 each, as well as the garlic naan. I was perfectly full after the meal and everything was tasty, Indian food always hits the spot for any meal. The Hyatt hotel lobby also has free wifi and isn't too crowded so it's a nice quiet place to work, IndoChen also has a full bar available and good happy hour deals. read more

They are still working on expanding the menu and are missing some items but the staff are friendly and helpful so I'm giving 4 stars instead of 3. I am here in Old Town for work and normally I don't write reviews for hotel restaurants as I don't always find them to be good but this is not the case for IndoChen. Not only is the food delish but the service is fabulous. I had the pleasure of having Tia as my person and she is amazing! She is thoughtful and super attentive. Also the young man Kazi who was helping her was super sweet and helpful with fun glasses and the manager came by a few times as well to check in on my experience. I would even eat here if wasn't staying at the Hyatt Centric. Nice job peeps! Make sure you ask for Tia. Rockstar! Ps I have eaten here twice during my stay. We loved this spot! The dishes, both Indian and Chinese, were equally delicious. We had walked past and read the menu and wanted to find a time to squeeze it in. Lunch worked out. We shared samosas, the avocado salad, butter chicken, and sautéed veggies. All were wonderful as were the cocktails - the passion mojito was so refreshing. I was only at the bar for happy hour; bartender was cool. The price is about right. The port belly was good. Someone there was not a lot of traffic on the weekend. I saw a lot flight attendant and pilots stayed in this hotel. Overall the service is good. There is no parking and you need to park at the street. read more

We happened to order from the Restaurant Week menu, really great price for the amount of food we got (we felt they were generous portions but maybe also the food is rich and we got fuller faster, haha). Literally everything we ate was delicious and tasty - the only thing we weren't expecting was the sauce on the fish is a bit spicy which we weren't expecting. Brunch service in the weekend! There were not other guest it was still early so was quiet. Its attached to the hotel so there were folks passing through. We got masala Omlette which did not remind me of home so was just like a veggie omelette with a few greens on the side no bread or any veggies. Another friend got buckwheat pancakes which was hearty and yummy. I got the palak paneer eggs Florentine and asked for a side of the butter masala curry paste on the side. Went for Alexandria restaurant week. I was super excited to try a new restaurant and intrigued by the Indian and Chinese concept. With that being said, I was extremely disappointed by the food. We got the samosas and pork belly as appetizers. The pork belly had this orange chicken like sauce glaze on it and it was super overpowering and too sweet. The samosa had very little filling and was all dough. For entrees, we got the buttered chicken and the fish. A reoccurring thing we noticed was everything was way too sweet. The sauce on the fish was way to heavy for the light fried fish. The rice for the buttered chicken was dry. The naan tasted stale and hard. Overall there was no balance of flavors and I think the chef needs to rethink the composition of his dishes. Would not recommend coming here at all read more

The brussel sprouts have not been reviewed yet,and I'm not sure WHY not? They were awesome. It was hard for me to pin point the glaze or flavore on them, but they were so good! The Butter Chiken was soooo good...It was definitely buttery with the tomatoe flavor, and the chicken was so tender I could cut it with a fork!! The Garlic Nan was also so good! My high lite of my dinner was receiving my dinner plate, it's a beatiful flower pattern & the ones at the bar are different from the ones at the dinning room tables! This is a fabulos restaurant! We are staying at the Hampton inn across from Indochen and we decided to give this place a try. The food is excellent , ambience and the the staff is great. We had steamed chicken momos and the chicken malai kabob as appetizers and it was so moist, well seasoned. For the main course we had palak paneer and butter chicken (comes with rice) and naans.
