Cool event space. They have multiple old warehouses decked out as art spaces and a few shops. One area, currently called Filament at the Landing, has a great selection of food, coffee, and drink. We got a terrific pistachio pesto pasta for $14, a couple nice beers for $6 each, and they even made us an off menu coffee cocktail with a shot of espresso, brandy, coffee cream liquer, and cinnamon. There are a couple pool tables set up for your enjoyment while you drink. After, we went to a Rooftop film series event in the outdoor space. Ironically it was not on a rooftop but set up under criss-crossed string lights outside between two of the warehouses. We were treated to about 90 minutes of short films followed by a DJ spinning while free popcorn, corona, and tanquerey cocktails were handed out. Fun and unique. The one drawback is that it is located in tbe middle of bum-fudge nowheres. The time and cost of transportation out there is a negative, but for a fun and unique enough event, it is a solid choice. Far out in Sunset Park, there is a hidden gem of a warehouse now showcasing art work that focuses on Hurricane Sandy, one year after... I came here a few weekends ago to the opening reception of "Come Together: Surviving Sandy." Who knew there was such a massive warehouse out here and now the artists have taken it over? I love that New Yorkers are so resourceful and seek out every single nook and cranny in the city to let their creativity flow. There are 6 floors in this building and there was artwork on display on the 1st floor and 6th floor. I enjoyed wandering around and getting lost and then found by awesome artwork. My favorite piece was a film showing on the 6th floor by Shoja Azari. I highly recommend it. It is a bit trippy but the colors and the story really stand out. Please check it out. They are going to open food stalls inside and currently there are food trucks outside, in case you get hungry, Definitely check out the "Come Together: Surviving Sandy" exhibition. It feels so good to see that New Yorkers can come together after such a devastating attack by Mother Nature. This entire complex is a hidden ( not for long ) gem. The options get beer every visit. 5 buildings currently in use for shopping and food court options, mostly all local vendors. Brooklyn Flea every Saturday if vintage is more your thing. Even a trolley to ride through if the walk through Innovation Alley (5 short blocks) is too much for some. Surrounding area still needs a little help on the pedestrian friendly front. Sorry I missed the Wheel House Bar when the weather was conducive to outside day drinking, mini golf, and ping pong. Industry City is pretty cool. I don't want to use the dreaded G-word, but it's definitely a sign of the area G-ing. Tons of cool stuff around, including Brooklyn Flea + Smorgasburg in the winter, Ends Meat for the best charcuterie in NY (and sandwiches during lunch time), Colson coffee and pastries, and some other shops. I've been to Industry City Distillery too, which is a good time. Also been to a few events, like the outdoor summer dance party Mr. Sunday back when they did it here, and the Brooklyn Crush wine festival. Very flexible space! read more

A great update on the American mall. A labyrinth that's fun to explore and that's full of art and surprises. Multiple buildings, dozens of restaurants, beautiful outdoor courtyards with play spaces and seating. Food from various parts of the world. A Japan Village that houses a food court, grocery, and retail space. True destination shopping rather than a ho-hum mall experience. My family and I went here three times during our five-day stay in Brooklyn. Highlights: Japan Village (onigiri, udon [perfect al dente noodles], Daiso [a clean and bright Japanese version of a dollar store], Sunrise Mart [a wide selection of Japanese groceries]), Sahadi's (Middle Eastern grocery), the comic book store, Colson Patisserie, the various courtyards where kids can play and adults can have a meal/drink/snack, One Girl Cookie (red velvet cake), and the throwback video arcade. Only con is that parking is not the easiest, but there are some metered spaces along 3rd Ave. Some people park on the small cross streets, but those streets have multiple signs saying "No Parking--Loading Zone." Growing up in Sunset Park, I remember how this area had 0 community access and was a complete, dilapidated mess save for a few businesses scattered within some of the buildings. There is much talk about displacement and gentrification, which is a complete red herring. IC is bringing jobs, revitalization and community access to the waterfront. And, to clarify, are not building any condos or luxury rentals whatsoever. Anyway, with regards to the space itself: In addition to the restaurants, shopping and businesses, IC offers countless events, markets, concerts etc throughout the year which are all safe and well produced. Everything old is new again. Industry City has a history that dates back to the 1930s when there was a boom in cheap labor, and construction on this scale was feasible. It has a uniquely Brooklyn flavor to it, that allows workers to get their subway ride to 36th street, and walk on over, and punch a clock. It's remained its edgy feel that has repelled the likes of Starbucks, etc. and has allowed for grassroots businesses and Mom and Pop stores to keep a foothold. Industry City is a hub of warehouses (not just the furniture showroom end cap near Costco) but 5 or 6 City block-sized building that have undergone a transformation over the past few years. There is a LOT going on in Industry City. Photographer's, Woodworkers, Popcorn and Chocolate factories, and wholesale companies of all sorts. There have been random "Sunrise parties" thrown here, and the Nets NBA basketball team is relocating their training facility here, in 2015. Great local falafal and deli's are within walking distance, and a $1.50 Costco hotdog is a great option too. Greenwood Cemetery is within Walking distance, as are bowling and other decent, local flavor restaurants. Overall, just a really nice neighborhood lynch pin between Barclay's center and Bay Ridge. read more

Located in a somewhat still dingy neighborhood, Industry City is a bit of an oasis in an area that has not yet been totally gentrified. The space is located in an area with tons of old warehouses and tall buildings that are slowly being repurposed after years of relative neglect. I recently went to this venue to attend the Lucky Rice festival where dozens of food vendors were on hand to let guests sample dishes from their businesses. The venue is located in walking distance from the 36 street train station in between 3rd and 4th avenue. The entrance is not immediately obvious. I almost went in (what turned out to be) the rear entrance when in fact the entrance is off to the side and up a ramp. The main floor space was huge. It's basically an empty space for events to do with as they please. Exposed brick and wood floors are the order of the day. Towards the back are rest rooms that can fill up pretty quick if enough people are attending a party. Still the staff kept everything clean in and outside of the rest rooms. Throughout the event staff was constantly on the prowl to make sure garbage cans were not too full. I was impressed as I've been to other events where after about an hour or two the place starts looking trashed. There was more however! Step outside and there was a gigantic space for even more vendors. Lights were strung back and forth over the area, giving the place a delightful makeshift appearance. There must have easily been a hundred people in this area alone so that gives you an idea of the size. I'd definitely go back to Industry City for an event. It's a cool venue and I had a good time there. read more

Went for the Best of Brooklyn event which was AMAZING! The event itself had literally the best of everything (food wise) Brooklyn had to offer. From tasty Mexican dishes to a variety of Asian cuisine from various vendors, chicken done every way imaginable (of course there was chicken!), sliders, pizza and a host of other tasty bites but my absolute favorite part of the event was our complimentary miniature beer mug to sample ALL of Brooklyn's cold, crisp, refreshing beers. Industry City itself is a really cool spot, clean, modern amenities, short walk from subway and right by the water. Loved the high ceilings! Love this whole concept! Repurposed industrial buildings are now hip stores, exhibit space and venues. Came here with the son for the M C Escher exhibit. It was an amazing collection. Very well curated. The staff was exceptionally friendly. Even the security guards who were more than happy to snap some funny photos of us! Well, the place where I learned to drive in the middle of the night has been transformed. Yes, Industry City was once so desolate that dead dogs and driving instructors were the only creatures to be found at night. Today, I went back for the first time in two decades and I am astounded and impressed. It was definitely worth a visit. The new IC has opened the waterfront to picnic-ers, neighbors, tourists and workers. It's created something that respects the magnificent scale of the original but brings very specific and personal details to it. I found that the smaller the scale, the more I enjoyed it: fig scones, a macchiato, the soba in my noodle bowl. But I also enjoyed the larger-scale outdoor spaces, especially, again,when I could look straight at the Statue of Liberty without having to be speeding or trudging down the Gowanus expressway to do so. read more

Industry City is a great place to see live salsa music.! The courtyard has a great atmosphere and a good mix of people. The courtyard is part the Sahadis restaurant where you can get your drinks. This place is such a cool little spot in sunset park. It's always awesome to see what sort of art is on display. The reason it's 4 and not 5 stars is that the layout is sort of confusing. There's and official food hall, however there's also a Japan village and other eateries spread around the city. My personal favorite is the avocado joint. I love coming here for the "adventure" feel this place has. However, I will note that meeting up with friends is a little hectic - not sure if it's just my friends but whenever I try to meet up with friends at the food court (274 36th St Brooklyn, NY 11232), Google Maps leads us to 39th St and 2nd Ave every. single. time. I usually spend upwards of 30 minutes trying to track them down since they wander trying to find out where I am. Maybe it's a symptom of us relying on Google Maps too much, but it delays all of my meetings and brunches with anyone who hasn't visited before. That being said, the food hall has a nice laid back vibe - perhaps it's not great for business on Sundays because most places were near empty that day. One thing people forget about this area are the restaurants. Besides the food hall there are some great stops like Yaso Tangbao. Ever been to a Sake Brewery? They've got one of those too (Brooklyn Kura). This area is a great place to wander around and get lost in. The price is a little more than elsewhere (such are "hip" spots in the city) but it makes up for it in quaint charm and is a nice respite from the rest of the city. From outdoor and indoor art installations to pastry shops to innovative items. Definitely check out Japan Village - if you've ever visited Mitsuwa it's like a small version of that. There is more seating outside of the main area, so go looking! I wish there was more connection between the food court and Japan Village because they really can go hand in hand. Part of me really wishes this area had the "eat out all the time" Hong Kong vibe but with the prices and taxes and tip here that culture isn't alive. I'd love to come here often if I could. read more

We got tickets for the Brooklyn beer & food festival which was held here finding the place is a little challenging since it's kind of hidden makes u wonder what exactly are u heading into? Loll too funny. Love the warehouse feel here huge place w more vendors that I could count. The festival was held in one of the buildings after checking in we made our way across got our little beer mugs & ready to try it all!! Plenty of options some of my favorites were the Coney Island beers nice taste to the Mermaid Pilsner & the Brooklyn Brewery the orange Pilsner these two stood out since I kept going back to them great taste wise. I definitely tried my share of beers too many to name but after a few of those little glasses they all tasted the same but overall not bad didn't try any I didn't like. Food wise had some Empanadas from Empanadas papa Cheese one was different w the corn but good & the Chicken good as well. Tried some Fried Chicken legs.. big ass legs nice & crispy w a little bit of a kick good chicken. Good music playing, nice big open space inside but it was crazy hot w the cooking & plenty of people doesn't quite go together in a closed space. Very nice area outside w the lights & tepee perfect for escaping to get some fresh air. Cute market hall that is very kid friendly in Brooklyn. There's plenty of activities to do for everyone, as there are food halls, Japanese Village with a food court and a Japanese market, game room (think Chuck E Cheese) and a cute tented area which provides additional seating. It's heated inside and the seats are super comfortable as it's padded with pillows and blankets. Would recommend coming here if you want to get away from the loud noise and be in a more intimate setting. The food choices are pretty limited and range from $10-20. Came here in the winter and it wasn't as packed even on a Saturday, but I can imagine this place getting busier when it's warmer. read more

Currently me and my family's absolute favorite place to go to to spend a few hours on a weekend . Industry city is fun for the whole family - I guarantee you'll find something to please everyone! Some of our favorites!!!!! - Ping pong tables !!! - Mini golf - bonus they have Brooklyn landmarks as the obstacles - Teepee with lots of seating - Fresh chocolate factory / store : they have chocolate pieces in there bigger than your head! - An avocadoteria - Yes the lowly avocado is now a food trend hitting Brooklyn hard - Brooklyn flea market on weekends : I scored a few awesome kokedema plants while there - Shanghai noodles and dumplings ! Yummo And lots of great rotating food stands including A Korean stand, Mexican taco / burrito stand, burgers etc The two things I don't love so much : - There are so many buildings and the above stuff I mentioned are scattered throughout those large buildings. It's almost like a maze having to run back and forth opening doors to see which buildings have stores open for business and which are just empty or closed. - not sufficient seating in the food halls ! They have these humongous wood tables but then only a few stools glued to the floor . I saw many families looking lost and unable to sit and eat . Hope that is fixed soon as come Summer I bet hundreds of people will fill those food halls . read more

Industry City hired an exterminating company, called Squash Exterminators, to extract cats from their home environment of many years. They did this instead of working with the community of cat caretakers, whom they were well aware of. This company removed cats from 34th street and 2nd avenue in Sunset Park, Brooklyn during the week of 9/11/17 and are unwilling to disclose what they have done to the cats. These cats are part of a registered colony, were all spayed and neutered and fed daily. The cats were not taken to the ACC, as would have been the proper protocol. It is believed that they picked up the cats in a van, captured them in raccoon cages and dropped them off to an undisclosed location. Please consider carefully before working with Industry City, in any capacity, as they are operating in an unethical and cruel manner. read more

Went with some friends and 2 small children on a Saturday for early lunch. In terms of a food court, this place fails on so many levels: 1. We got there at 11:15 and most food places were not open even though their websites claimed otherwise. 2. The seating situation is ridiculous. There are a few giant tables but very few chairs that were bolted to the floor. Think 8 foot long tables but just 2 chairs per side. The tables could easily seat twice as many people if they had used benches instead. Moronic. 3. Not baby friendly. The location is huge but no one thought to include any high chairs for young children. Are warehouse food halls only for the childless? My wife and I had to take turns carrying our baby while the other ate their meal. 4. Did I also mention there are no changing tables in the bathrooms?Guess they want me to change my kid's diapers on the ground since there is so much space! Please rip out the existing seating and start over. The food vendors seem ok but the seating is so bad it's not worth the hassle. Go to DeKalb Market instead. The are more food vendors and seats. read more

Industry City is always interesting, fun and exciting! There's plenty of things to do when you come with your family: good food, great stores and awesome entertainment. It gets little windy between buildings in late fall and winter, but spring and summer are pretty awesome. You can sit outside and catch some sun rays or hide inside with running AC. There's always something happening, all the exciting events are posted on their social media. I'm happy we live close enough to visit couple times a month. read more

A lot of vintage items mixed with newer curated shops selling homemade candles, textiles, jewelry, and a lot of food items like olive oils, hot sauces, drink mixes, chocolate, etc. Gifts galore and a good place to bring out of towners. DO NOT RENT ROOMS HERE. They require you to sign 3 year leases only and give them 3 months security deposit PLUS first and last months rent. The leasing office staff members are rude, unprofessional, ineffective communicators and use bullying tactics to force you into abiding by their unreasonable rules. Their management team is unpleasant and poorly run. Both moving in and out is very difficult. You're required to use their moving elevator which you pay $500 to use. If you make the mistake of renting a room here, there's many rules/restrictions as to what you can actually DO with your room. Don't invest any money into building your room. They require your unit to be returned in exactly the same condition as you had it. Bottoms line, rent is TOO EXPENSIVE for what you get and the headaches they cause. There's no cell phone service available within the units. There's no AC. If you want to install your own, the building requires you to use their people to install it for you. They charge you $600 to do this. Also, they shut off the heat in the building every day at 5pm. So if you like to work at night, you'll freeze and you'll need to buy yourself an extra heater on top of their expensive rent. As far as I'm concerned, they are CHEAP. And will try to RIP YOU OFF every chance they get. read more

I've been to IC a couple of times. It brought me surprises each time. And the environment there is pretty good. You will see people taking yoga classes after work there and you will be able to taste delicious food from different culture if you are going there for some food event. read more
