We visit this location when we are visiting our kids and grandkids. The Whitestown location is closer, but if we need to run to grocery stores, Trader Joe's, and such this one is a little more convenient. They have a lot of parking out front so that is no issue, they do keep it clean and we did not notice any non-working equipment this time It appears they have also added some of the squat racks that are becoming common in the other location so that is pretty cool Staff aren't overly friendly, but they're efficient and lockers were available as well Will be back when we're in town next time, we really appreciate our black card membership read more

I really like this location it's not the most spacious but they made good use of the space. They have a new machines and it's very clean. The ambience is very good especially if you're someone who doesn't wear headphones or play loud music in ur headphones. I came with no music today and I didn't even notice the associates that I've encountered ( Rae and Todd) great attitudes and communication respectful and knowledgeable. The clients are well mannered and respectful of the equipment. Came at 5p ( rush hour) and didn't have to deal with sharing machines or weights. read more

I'm definitely recommending this place with five stars! You can tell it used to be a former grocery store so it has nice tall ceilings and it is very spread out. Locker rooms were very clean and gave you everything you need. Staff was also very friendly. I stopped here on my way back from Chicago and it was a good point to get a good workout in. It was not too crowded between lunch and dinner. The machines all felt updated and everything just felt top notch. The free weights at the front were also well organized and the place did not feel tight at all. Lots of parking out front and it's also very close to a lot of other businesses that you could utilize after. Would definitely recommend if you are in the North Indianapolis area or just wanting to stop at a place off of interstate 465. read more

I am not a member -just a plus one. A co-worker has the deluxe membership and is allowed to bring a guest every time. This is my kind of gym, but it may not be yours if you are into an upscale workout experience. No fitness fashion - this place is very practical and straightforward. I'm really impressed at how hard all the employees work. They are very attentive to keeping the machines working well and keeping them clean. The people who work at the front desk are always friendly, quick and helpful. If there's one aspect in need of improvement I would say it is the locker rooms. The bathrooms and sinks just don't inspire a lot of confidence in their cleanliness, but I think it's more about the fixtures then the cleanliness. I've never attempted to shower there. I do appreciate that they have free lockers if you bring your own lock. read more

I must admit I have not been to the gym in quite a while, so I forced myself to go to Planet Fitness this week to get a good workout. I went to this location because it was closer to me. The gym is supposedly under renovation, but I could not tell from the atmosphere. The facility is wonderful and the staff are friendly and willing to lend you a helping hand if you need it. Planet Fitness is known for being a "no judgment" zone, and I can say that is truly the case. The gym has a lot to offer to everyone such as exercise bikes, elliptical machines, and free weights. The equipment is in good shape and up to date, so you know your are in a good gym if the equipment is well taken care of on a regular basis. I'm glad I am a member of Planet Fitness, especially as a black card member, I receive a lot of perks and benefits. The price is right for a monthly membership, so that also make it worthwhile to have a membership. You cannot beat $10/month!! read more

Honestly I think all PF are about the same. Same equipment. I come to this location the most due to its proximity to my house. The only thing I use is the treadmill which was my only reason for signing up so I could train for a half marathon. Thankful they do not have a contract for this reason!!! Although I normally belong to LA Fitness, planet fitness is an amazing gym. I love how friendly the coworkers are and how cozy it is for a gym if that makes sense. When you walk in, you scan your badge and the locker rooms are really nice and spacious. I wish there were more mirrors but that's not a priority. They have enough workout machines and cardio equipment. They also added group workouts!!! My friend Paige told me all about them and you have to download the app to sign up for the class. Overall, the gym is a nice gym to get your workout in and call it quits. Pros Friendly Spacious Good machines Cons A worker told me I couldn't bring my gallon of water on the floor and that was strange. Lol No Sauna!!! Get rid of the tanning and get a sauna or steam room. It's right off 86th street and it's never really too busy, which is exactly why I chose to join.. I want to get my workout done without any of the frills. It's true: I don't feel judged here. In some gyms, there is a feeling of competition. Not here. Not only is the price amazingly low, the motto here is that anyone can get in shape no matter where you're at physically. The white card is $10/month, and that's without all the bells and whistles. The black card includes everything, and that's still only $20/month, which is still a ridiculous bargain! There are always plenty of cardio machines available, and they keep the gym very clean. All the cardio machines are hokked up to about 12 different TVs. The machines also charge your iPod/iPhone. It's a basic set-up here - treadmills, elipticals, arc trainers (my fav!), free weights, work-out stations, various lifting machines, tanning, work-out classes, drinks, etc. There isn't a pool like at LA Fitness, so if that's a factor for you, you might have to look at getting the more expensive membership from them. Other than that, this place will rock your socks off! Over the years, I've visited many gyms and found nothing that fit me. I used to be convinced that things like gym memberships were an unnecessary luxury, and that exercise can be done for a fraction of the cost at home. After moving into an apartment that didn't have a fitness center included, I checked out Planet Fitness for their cheap membership I had heard about. It's official - I'm converted. My experience there has forever changed my perspective on gyms. It's so helpful how they are able to accommodate a variety of exercise levels and styles! I must say that I've never found a gym that has been comparable in price or in customer service. The staff are way awesome and the patrons are so full of motivation! People don't go to a gym to be harassed, startled, etc. This is exactly what PF CLAIMS to end with its "no lunking" policy (no loud grunting, weight slamming, etc.). HOWEVER, the gimmicky "lunk alarm" always disturbed me, and it's a direct violation of their "no-judgement zone," which is complete nonsense as well (they're obviously JUDGING anyone they think is a little too noisy). Note: I've never been dinged by the alarm, and I don't like obnoxious people in the gym either; however, the lunk alarm is FAR more obnoxious than any slightly loud noises a member might make. It's also a form of harassment for both the "offending member" and everyone else who has to be startled off their machine or free weight set. It's a safety issue, and a form of misconduct on the part of PF. The 86th st location was a madhouse the last time I was there. I was working out right under the alarm, which went off loud and hard three times. When I said something to the staff, they said they're sorry, but that's the way it is, and then the alarm went off a few more times. Real gyms don't do these sorts of charades. If you want real fitness as a way of life - AWESOME. We should all be doing it according to our own needs, but look elsewhere instead of the hype and false promises of PF. I used to recommend PF to others, but no more. TRUE, they offer a clean facility, generally friendly staff, and ample equipment at a low cost, which is very attractive. But my patience after several of these incidents with the lunk alarm has worn too thin, and I'll need to go elsewhere. read more

I've been going off and on to this planet fitness for the past few months. It has always been very clean! Their motto "no judgement" is refreshing. Not to mention the guests all are here to workout and not ogle. Avoid prime workout times aka the morning and after work shifts as it can get stuffy. Added tip, if you are a $20 member a month you can bring a guest for free every visit! The bonus no judgement tootsie roll at the end makes the workout worth it. Do not eat the purple tootsie rolls... They're evil tasting! My only gripe are the colors purple and yellow which remind me of a junior high gym but hey for the cost you roll with it. read more

Back in April, I had to get in shape somehow. I had heard from some friends that Planet Fitness was very inexpensive and offered the basics. I decided to sign up for their black card, which gives you extra perks, such as their massage chairs, tanning beds, and the ability to attend any Planet Fitness in the US. Once I had a fitness regimen in place (the couch to 5k app, alternating legs and arms, three times a week) I started going, and have made a point to go at least once a week since I finished couch to 5k. If you're looking for a pool or yoga and Pilates classes, I would suggest you look elsewhere, as PF offers neither of these. However, they do have some small classes you can sign up for with a personal trainer that target specific areas of your body. It's been about nine months, and I've gained about ten pounds of muscle, which makes me look about 20 pounds thinner. I'm not too fussed about my weight, it's just that sitting at a desk from 9 to 5 and binge watching Netflix was catching up with me/driving me batty with the need to work out. And I feel ten times better because of it. PF is known as a judgement free zone, so no one will tell you you're too fat to be using a specific machine (true story of a friend that works out at LA Fitness) and there are virtually no Hans und Franz types. Oh, and they have pizza night every first Monday of the month. The gym rat in me says that's counterintuitive, but the commercial real estate agent in me thinks it's a genius marketing tool. read more

Staff can be kind of rude. They have lots of equipment and little waiting time. Can't beat the price. I wish they had straight benches; I'm not a fan of smith machines. Aside from that they've got everything you could possibly need. There seems to be just about every walk of life in there trying to get in shape.. kind of a fun atmosphere. Revised 6/09/16: I stopped working out here back in March. Way too crowded at night with quite a few thugs milling around. I work out at the PF in S. Broad Ripple now. One of the best Planet Fitness locations in the city. Has 4 bench/squat locations. It has every other machine located in basic Planet Fitness locations. The aerobics area is only able to accommodate 5-6 people. The environment is usually good. read more

I created the account in May and when I moved I had to cancel but they wouldn't let me do it over the phone. When I did have time to come in they charged me a 30 dollar yearly fee even though I canceled before it? I hadn't even been there the full year! What a crock of you know what. I asked the manager to wave it considering it was a bullsh charge anyways, and she did nothing for me. So I paid a joining fee, monthly of 10, and another 30 dollar yearly fee for a gym I went to maybe 5 times and not even for the whole year. PF managers FAILED to train their people properly, which resulted in my getting the wrong membership!!! As part of a benefit package from my new job, is a free membership to local fitness centers, including PF. This is what happened on 3 separate visits to this location: 1st visit: The counter person was nice, but didn't know how to process my membership application, but the manager was in the office, never coming out to assist...2nd visit: Essentially the same thing but the counterperson told me that I would receive their "PF Black Card" membership and NO ONE was available to activate my membership...3rd visit: This time, someone was (barely!) able to activate my membership, but said that I only had the "Classic" membership, and not the "PF Black" and again, NO MANAGERS WERE AVAILABLE...I even sent an email to the address given on an automated email sent to me to complain, but it came back with someone else's email address, so I sent a complaint to that address and as of this review, no response.... read more

Of the gym's I've been to, it is neither the best nor the worst. But it does get the job done. Some employees get a little too excited to use their "lunk alarm" rather than actually talking to the gym member and politely asking them to stop dropping weights, which ends up being more annoying and distracting than the dropping of the weights themselves. Planet Fitness is a wonderful place to go and all locations are equally as pleasant. The motto is to have a judge free zone to work-out in and Planet Fitness stands up to that expectation. This is a great gym for beginners and those looking to lose a few pounds. The staff is excellent and they work hard to keep the gym and equipment clean and in working order. Members really run the full range in both age and sizes; so no reason to feel awkward or uncomfortable if you aren't in the best shape and/or you are new to fitness. As others have stated, you can't beat the price ($10 basic, $20 full). There are a lot of machines and a nice free weight area with dumb bells. The cardio area is pretty large and I have never had to wait for a cardio machine. I usually go during non-peak hours and the place is never too crowded. The few times I have gone in the evenings it is crowded, but not so much so that you will have to wait very long for any given machine. There is a 30 minute exercise circuit area and a 30 minute ab circuit area as well. I have never used a personal trainer there, but I see them helping individuals fairly regularly, so they are there if you want one. Overall, it is worth checking this place out if you are looking for a gym in the area. The only negatives I can think of are 1) If you are someone that needs classes in order to keep you interested and/or focused, then look elsewhere. There are massage beds and chairs (hydro-massage?) and tanning beds, but few other amenities. So if you are looking for extra amenities on par with Lifetime Fitness (along with Lifetime Fitness prices), then look elsewhere. 2) The reason I started the review by saying it is a good place for beginners and those looking to lose weight is because it is not a great place for those looking to really bulk up with free weights, etc. I say this only because there is no squat rack, free standing bench press, shoulder press, free-weight barbells, etc...instead there are four smith machines (which are not really ideal for those exercises). However, if you are on a budget, I am sure you can create a good routine around the dumbbells and smith machines. 3) Lastly, there are only 4 smith machines. Since these machines are the only way to bench/squat/deadlift etc. at Planet, they are a hot commodity during peak hours. read more

I exercised at Planet Fitness for many months and the facilities were great. I had to cancel my membership because I am leaving the area. I was made unaware that I would be billed $20 for the next month and not be able to use the facilities. When I tried to call and resolve the issue, first I spoke to a woman who was no help at all. Next I tried contacting a manager, I spoke to a man who had a terrible attitude. He did not try to compromise at all and he placed the blame on myself. Needless to say, I am very disappointed with the customer service. I would expect more for a loyal customer. I would give this location zero stars if it were possible. read more
