We will continue these lessons throughout the year to keep them comfortable.

They received attentive instruction from all of their coaches and progressed through the program eventually joining the competitive team. My oldest even eventually became an instructor for the developmental program. The competitive coaches work hard to instill a team atmosphere among the various groups both in and out of the pool. My kids fell in love with the sport through ACST. The coaches, board of directors, and swim families provide a strong support system for swimmers and parents alike. We only left the program following our move. I highly recommend ACST for the beginning swimmer as well as those wanting to continue to a more competitive level. Both my 5 and 7 year-old placed into the beginning class. I watched their class from the bleachers which had either one or two other students, depending on the day. You are not able to interact with the instructor as a parent, and I never knew her name. I watched my kids become increasingly apprehensive until one day I watched the instructor dunking my 5 year old daughter repeatedly while she would scream and cry in between dunkings. The other children in the group got scared and all jumped out of the water and backed away from her in fear. When I went to the administration, after hearing my story, they talked to the instructor and told me my kids weren't ready to learn to swim and refused to participate. They did at least give me my money back, but I was most upset that they have instructors that would do that, then blame the child for it. I had to find another place quickly, because I didn't want the fear to stick. I got them into other lessons within a week, and after 4 months, my son has mostly gotten over the fear instilled in him by ACST's instructor, but my daughter still has some lingering issues. She will at least get in the pool as long as she can touch the bottom, but she is afraid of going underwater at all and still starts crying when she hears the word "bob." I would not recommend ACST for children to learn to swim.

I know that they are trying to get you to the point of being not reliant on anything to help you swim. But the owner pulled her out of a group at the end of a session. And while all the other children were playing, forced her to try to blink water out of her eyes. To the point where she was crying. She does not cry. I would think with years of experience that the owner would've handled our situation better. And when I brought it up, I was told she left "empowered". She was not. The next several sessions when I brought her back, she would not jump in the pool anymore, and she would not go underwater. She would cry. And did not want to go to any more lessons. At our pool, she was swimming without any type of swimmies and utilizing some of the skills she learned.... jumping and going underwater, getting to the edge and getting out of the pool. We allowed her to swim to the edge and get out of the pool and wipe her eyes. Not every child is the same, and you cannot bully someone into doing what you think they should. Sometimes it takes more patience. And we were getting there until she was singled out and made to cry. Also, the first location in Greenfield was very good. The main instructor was awesome. She also had her utilizing the blink method with some success. But at the new location in New Palestine, the new instructors were not as good. And unfortunately, the owner made things worse.

We had an unforeseen event in the family which necessitated us being out of state for a few weeks. I got a verbal response from the instructor (again very nice) and assumed it was done. This was my mistake. We were out of town and when I checked my personal email after 6 weeks (also my mistake) we had been billed for 2 sessions. After I emailed the "email for new class scheduling" I got a response saying I had to submit cancellation to the office in writing. Currently they are "looking into the matter" but I am not optimistic I will be reimbursed or they will make it right. If they do I will update the review. I had my first Stony Creek Swim Center experience yesterday. My three month old niece had her first…read moreWater Babies class. I was really impressed with it! The center is in an unassuming building with ample parking in their lot. You walk in and the scent of poop water hits you -- but it's much better than at hotels. After a check in at the front desk and a short explanation of how things worked, we were ready to change for class. The front room has chairs facing big windows so guests can watch the classes and stay dry. There are cubbies for your stuff out in the open as well as a lost and found section and plenty of magazines in case you need reading material. Three changing stalls with curtains and three individual bathrooms with changing table, toilet and sink are available. Right after classes get out, these can fill fast so you may have a wait. I went in to the pool area for the Water Babies class to take photos, which they allow you to do. My sister and my niece enjoyed roughly 30 minutes of singing songs and acclimating babies to the water. They practiced moving on their stomachs as well as their backs, had some tummy time on a floating mat, and practiced cues for swimming and gripping the walls. It was really cute to watch, but more than that, I could tell the instructor loves what she does and knows her stuff when it comes to babies in the water. I caught glimpses of other classes -- toddlers to maybe 6 year olds or so -- and the instructors were kind and knowledgeable and the kids were having fun. I'd give this place 4 stars on a first impression, but wouldn't be surprised if they move up to 5 in the coming weeks as I get to know them more. :)

They even hold classes here like Zumbini with Nykki classes, mommy tool kit classes and even more. They also have a nice little lunch area so you can bring your lunch and you can stay for even longer and they have a snack bar. You can get snacks from if you ran out of snacks or want something different. They also have an adult lounge upstairs, which is really cool because it overseas the play area too so many great things come from this Play Place and I love going here.

As both a mother of a child that attended Weston school, and an employee of Weston school, I could…read morenever recommend this establishment to anyone. Understaffing is a severe issue because they treat their employees like trash, which means the children get shuffled endlessly around to different rooms, even during meals/snacks they are forced to move from room to room, often having to bring their plates of food with them. The children are so disregulated and bored there is frequent fighting and massive behavioral issues that teachers try to quell, but with limited success due to the frequency and severity and the amount of students with issues like hitting, throwing hard objects and biting and attacking staff. My daughter started out loving coming to school but by a few weeks in she would cry every day and beg me not to make her go. She frequently shook, cried, and clung to myself and her father as she entered a classroom full of behaviors like screaming and tackling. There is a mold issue in the school that is not addressed, there are very little supplies, and almost nothing available to implement the curriculum. The burden of fighting for these items is placed squarely on the shoulders of teachers. We're frequently forced to come in sick, a coworker was even forced to come in actively vomiting, having to carry around grocery bags to vomit into in case she could not be relieved from the classroom to vomit privately in time. The cost is astronomical when you consider that the curriculum is not implemented in most classrooms, children play with the same bins of toys day in and day out with little variance while also being shuffled along in a hyper-structured formulaic day. The food is BAD quality. I frequently had to serve green bananas, spoiled celery, grayish hotdogs etc, and children never receive a full bun, only half! We were literally required to serve every "sandwich" or hot dog open faced or with a half bun because of serving size requirements. It was pathetic and every new teacher who came in had issues with the portion sizes. We also gave children water unfiltered directly from the tap. No filtration system for the water. I was prompted to hide refilling the water pitcher from parents because they KNOW it's wrong. Toxic environment for children and staff, stay away from The Weston School. Everything is a facade to look good for NAEYC meanwhile the children suffer for the school to look good on paper. Sad.

I went in excited, motivated, and ready to build relationships with the children and families, and they truly were the best part of every single day. The parents, the students, their smiles, their joy... those moments were the only thing that made showing up worth it. Unfortunately, everything else was overshadowed by management practices that, in my opinion, drained teacher morale faster than I have ever seen in any school or childcare setting. From day one, I noticed inconsistent treatment among staff. I was written up for things other teachers did daily and far louder than I ever was, yet nothing seemed to happen when they did the exact same things. It quickly became clear that concerns were only heard when your voice was loud unless someone in management did not like who you were. Rules were different depending on the person, and it created an environment of fear and distrust. Teacher turnover is unbelievably high, and not because the job is hard, but because many of us felt there was no trust, no respect, and no support coming from management. Several staff members shared their discomfort with being pressured to work while sick, even when clearly not well enough to care for children. Disagreeing with management on even small things often led to threats of write ups or termination. It felt less like a workplace and more like walking on eggshells every single day. During my first month, I used a simple educational song during curriculum time, something I have used in multiple previous centers with no issue. Instead of receiving guidance or feedback, I was told that using an iPad for teaching was unacceptable and that if I did it again, I would be pulled into the office. That moment alone showed me how little creativity or flexibility was allowed, even though so many teachers there hold associates, bachelors, or even masters degrees. Hearing leadership say that our education does not mean anything without a short term certificate was, in my opinion, incredibly disrespectful to the hard work educators put into their training. As a teacher and a parent, I found the lack of consistent behavior support and classroom management deeply concerning. When children were being consistently harmed by peers, I often saw little being done to address repeated behaviors. Incidents were minimized or brushed aside, leaving teachers feeling powerless and families unknowingly trusting that everything was being handled properly. It is heartbreaking seeing children go home with injuries and knowing nothing is truly being done to prevent it from happening again. I know for a fact that more than a dozen teachers have left or are looking for new jobs, not because they do not love teaching, but because their confidence, self worth, and passion were worn down day after day. These were floaters, lead teachers, assistants, people from every part of the building. When so many educators from so many roles all feel the same way, that should say something. If you are a current family, I strongly encourage you to pay attention, ask questions, and trust your instincts. If you are a parent searching for a daycare, please know there are many other options nearby that treat both teachers and children with the respect, support, and care they deserve. I wish I had known before accepting a job and before trusting this place with children. I hope sharing my personal experience helps someone else avoid the same mistake.
