That should have been my first red flag. I was very clear that my concern about concrete was lack of drainage and water pooling but they assured me they would make sure the concrete would be slightly angled so it would follow a natural drainage. The second red flag should have been they asked me to pay them the remainder of the fee because they didn't have enough to pay for the concrete truck. The crew was extremely sloppy, clogged outdoor drain, pushed cement into garden bed, left scissors in my yard, dumped leftover concrete in between my stairs hoping I wouldn't notice, concreted my sewer lid shut and THE worse of all, I now have a concrete patio that pools every time it rains. We weren't able to check for quality control at the end of the job because it takes 24 hours for the cement to set. We reached out afterward and gave them a chance to make some things right but they ghosted us and won't respond to CCheck out the photos, a photo speaks a thousand words. Update - Apele still haven't responded and we will have to take them to small claims court. The concrete pad cracked in less than one month.

They appear to be ghosting a project and STEALING roughly $6000 from me. I have paid $10K towards a flagstone patio (completed quote: $7K) and a retaining wall (completed quote $4K). The outstanding balance is $1000 for the job to be complete, which it never will be. They told me the job would take 5-6 days. After 22 weekdays, 10 of which were no-shows no-calls, they left the site with their tools. Ezekial rarely answered text messages that were business critical. Every day they did show up, they were 2 to 4 hours later than scheduled. They never worked more than three hours in one day, with most days about 90 minutes. The flagstone patio, which is just the concrete pad with a few poorly laid pieces of flagstone on one part is far from complete. Let's say that $3k of the $7k is left to do. The retaining wall was never started, so that is $3000 (of $4000 that I've already paid) is also being stolen. If they return the money to me, then I can reconsidered my review, but breaching a contract is not just bad business but is also illegal. Fortunately for me, I have documentation from venmo, yelp, and text messages that show that they consistently missed deadlines. I'd rather not take them to small claims court, but they have stolen money from me. If they return the money, this review would be more about reliability which is less severe. I really want to support local small businesses, especially coming out of covid, but unreliable vendors who provide bad service and bad craftsmanship and no communication need to get their act together. This is especially goes for thieves. Unfortunately, they had 5 stars when I hired them.

Frazier explained that they can only perform the work that the customer or seller or Agent paid for. I understand that part, but as I told him - no one asked me who paid for my floor - All they see is the end result - which was not good. They did not repaint the trim, which i will do myself - I told him that selecting one color to paint everything is fine, but you still need to prep. There were other issues when the redid the floor - the decorative toe kick on the NEW cabinets came out in the middle and instead of glueing it back they wanted to nail it. I asked that it be glued and they did glue it... but Nailed it anyway...they left tools and trash of theirs and took a tote of mine. Which was quickly taken care of. They were nice enough to replace the gold threshold with silver. The floor now looks fabulous - they tore up the vinyl, put new underlayment in the whole kitchen and put down a new piece of vinyl. I appreciate Chase and his follow up! 1. I needed a gas line put in for the dryer and a water line for the fridge. I got an estimate of $1200. I thought that was high so I asked if I could save $400 by going to the city myself to get the permit. Frazier told me he gave me everything I would need to pull a permit for a gas line. I have the letter of approval from the HOA and a drawing of my kitchen showing where the line was going. The very nice people at the permit department in Alameda told me that I needed a drawing showing all the BTUs, etc showing that it was possible to install a gas line, not a drawing showing where it should go. And they told me that a licensed contracter should have known better. I agree. so I got another estimate from Todd Roberts at Roberts Plumbing and he took care of everything for $675. Now I am having a problem with the linoleum floor that was put in the kitchen. It is bubbling and they obviously did not level the floor becuase I can see the outline or a sheet of plywood that is now coming up and will soon come right thru the floor! They painted everything Beige - walls, ceiling, woodwork..everthing. I am certain that the color was at the request of the previous owner, so I repainted the walls and ceiling, but when I started on the trim and doors I noticed that the new paint was peeling off. What company would paint without priming? I asked my HOA and the Realtor how to proceed and they said contact Total Works and have them come out and fix it. I have an email in to Frazier and will update this when and if they contact me. UPDATE 9-2-14 A very nice man named Chase just called in response to my email adn has scheduled a time to come out and make things right.

I wanted a bit of work done on my condominium, and sent an email with a list of specific items I wanted renovated. They responded by saying they could give me a quote, but that they would need to see the condominium first. This is a given, so I drove out two hours to the condominium in San Francisco to meet with Bayardo. He was a little late, but that is understandable because the parking in the area is atrocious. Bayardo was a really nice guy, and we went through every item that needed to be renovated. I told him that the renovation was time-sensitive, and that I would like a quote ASAP. He took pictures of everything and promised a quote by that night. The next day, I receive an email from Jorge saying that they can't provide a quote because they need to see the place again. So I ask if he can meet that day, and he's unable to. I ask if they can meet over the weekend, but he's busy. So Jorge suggest the following week, and I hesitate because the renovation is extremely time-sensitive with the HOA meeting coming up. He promises to meet on Monday, so I reluctantly agree. Monday morning, I wake up early and drive two hours into the city to meet Jorge. Less than an hour before our meeting time, he texts me to say that he's canceling, and that he won't be working with me. In succinct, Total Works Corp is extremely unreliable and unprofessional. One of the most critical things in contracting work is reliability-you don't want your contractor abandoning a job mid-contract. If you're considering working with Total Works Corp, please be cautious and consider other options.
