(7/25/23, post completion 5wks update #10+ c) below) We just finished our front/back yards makeover: ontime, on budget, and beautifully done! We enjoy our tropical-themed backyard so much now :). Thanks to G (the owner, the foreman, and the hard worker) and his crew. We moved to Brentwood 18months ago. We needed a makeover of our backyard which was flooded during rainy season and poor arrangement of plantation, as well as front yard upgrade. I RFQ'd 5 contractors, and got 4 back ontime. The owner of Pacific Landscape Services (= PLS) is Gatzemani (shortname G). His quote was right in line with another 2, but we were attracted by his overall solution of our troubled yards, and he seemed to be a smart guy. So we did our leap of faith by hiring him to finish in 8wks. Based on our past experience of contracting, ontime seems to be a dream.... but G and his crew made it. 1. Quote is reasonable, G doesn't nickel/dime with small adjustments. I do suggest to communicate clearly upfront to avoid adjustment/rework. 2. G is the worker bee himself and the most skillful one. 3. G always said "have to do it right" vs shortcutting/ easy work, and he did. 4. G is easy to work with, and manages his crew effectively 5. We were impressed by the clean-up on daily base and final closure which really stands out his services. We no longer needed to hire trash dumping guys like our prev projects. 6. If you are uncertain about something, you can ask G who gives his honest opinion but respects the owner's final decision and executes it. 7. G has a broad knowledge of sub-supplier bases+ plantation. We took his recommendation for pavers, pebbles.. 8. They specialize in hardscape/ pavers/ drainage/ irrigation. We have a sloped driveway and connection to backyard through sideyard. The leveling/grading was a big challenge for everyone, but G did it. 9. Restored our deserted pond in the back and transformed it into a beautiful creekbed with moss rocks. The sound of creek river is so soothing and enjoyable (see pictures) 10. The only thing is the SOD which is not doing well. [6wks later after completion] The lawn is 95% good, there are still 2 brown spots at front lawn Few recommendations: a). Any material on color/texture, it's better go to stores (if avail), and/or check samples vs online/brochure. It is very different, esp with big areas and how they age overtime. b). Consult G and make your own final call. The creekbed was a recommendaiton from G, a master piece vs a pond with mosquitoes. We went with our desire of light pebbles vs dark lava stones (an idea from G), and we love our decision. c). Get involved and check the job periodically. We did/do find small flaws (not major) due to inconsistent labor quality during the job, eg. trash was not removed before installing gopher wire, irrigation lines popped after 4wks... G re-did the gopher wire the next day after being made aware, and we fixed the dripper line ourselves. Overall, a very postitive experience!! I highly recommend Pacific Landscape Services. read more

I wanted to commend G and his crew for the work done at my home. I had plans drawn up and most other businesses that i asked for quotes either did not pay attention to the plans or were way overpriced for what was shown. G was responsive and gave a reasonable quote and breakdown for the shown work. He also knew i was shopping quotes, so he gave me some time and followed up with no pressure. After we decided to go with his team, he gave me a start date and showed up promptly to begin. He explained his process and checked in with me daily on what was going on for the day, and also kept me appraised of any unforeseen issues. His crew also cleaned up at the end of each day. His knowledge of the work he was doing and insight to future issues was a plus for us. It helped us to consider what to choose or how to proceed. It's very difficult for us to write this review as we really liked G's work & plan for our backyard. We signed a contract with G on May 4. We gave our downpayment plus our 1st round of payment to start but he only installed the pavers, irrigation system, and put some plants on July. G asked for the 2nd round of payment to buy the materials for the deck. We gave him the payment right away but then we noticed that his workers stopped showing up. He kept on saying that he'll start again soon but it's been months and we never heard from him. We will now be forced to find another contractor to continue G's work as it seemed like he abandoned his project with us along with the our money. read more

Our backyard was literally a blank slate when we moved into our new construction home. We got quotes from several landscapers and G (the owner) was the most inclusive and reasonable one. More importantly, he actually listened to our vision and wanted to compliment it with his experience. He didn't disappoint despite the numerous delays and obstacles, most of which were outside of his control (eg., pool deck that needed to be demoed and re-poured due to shortcuts by pool company who built it, other projects like shed construction, and rainy season). If there was any quality or other issue (eg., plant or tree replacement or move, crooked or unleveled paver, irrigation/sprinkler adjustments, misplaced ground cover), G fixed them with no complaints/haggling. With no background in landscape design, we sketched our proposed design on an iPad and hoped for the best with G. We have no regrets. G and his crew turned our backyard into a tropical oasis based on our vision (not what he thought our vision should be). They improved and brought our design to life. There was nothing but a newly constructed pool and dirt in our backyard when he started the project. As with any contractor, there is always room for improvement. G could have been more clear about when he expected to be paid. Our contract was not clear about when each milestone payment would be due (I should have paid more attention to this before signing the contract). Also, the quality of the sod is questionable. We've had some issues with it and hope that the rainy season will help with the stress/yellowing. Lastly, G could have done a better job following through on punch list items at the end of the project. For example, on more than one occasion, I reached out to him fix a protruding wood board on one of the raised garden beds he installed. He fixed it once but the issue returned. When I followed up with him and he never followed through on any of his promises to take care of it, I finally decided to cut my losses. Still no regrets! I would choose G if we had to do it all over again. He and his crew deserve 5 stars for their work ethic, the quality of their work, their reliability and attention to detail. read more

We hired Gi after calling several businesses that did not show up for an estimate or respond to any calls. I happened to come across his Ad and called. He was very responsive and walked through everything that we wanted. We hired him before the SIP took place - once the lift was done, he came with his crew and immediately went to work. We even added on artificial turf and were very happy with the results. He works efficiently and cleans up after he is finished each day. He communicates daily on what to expect in the next day and throughout the week. He is very polite as well as his guys. So, happy with the final results and looks fantastic! Never got a quote no response. I had him come twice I pay money for the design and we discussed what was wanted but they never responded.

Pacific Landscape Service (PLS- a local Brentwood/ Eastbay company) was very impressive with the amount of detail, service and dependability to get the work done. We hired PLS for a entire backyard design for lawn, landscaping and new fence and it took 2 wks to complete. G and his crew were always on time, cleaned up construction daily and G (owner) made sure tasks were done and completed to his and our standards. With Gopher problems he used a steel mesh to ensure no more gopher issues and upgraded our sprinkler system to conserve water and not be wasteful. The Fence is amazing and the materials used will last us for the next 20+ years. My neighbors all commented how impressed they were that PLS was here every morning to complete the job and how beautiful the backyard looks now. We were in the process of having a pool put in and met with G from Pacific Landscape Service to see what he could do for us in regards to the landscaping around the pool. There's a lot of landscaping companies in the area, and we truly felt we chose the best one. As the pool was constructed, G and his crew were awesome. They had great suggestions, attention to detail, and really showed they care about their work. They set up a drip system for us, put in pavers around 1300 sq feet, and tropical themed plants throughout the yard. They also modified our existing gate to meet the city requirements, and built a new gate on the other side of our property as well as a patio out of pavers. They were prompt, very patient with us, and worked hard everyday even cleaning up until the job was done. Pacific Landscape Service was very organized and made us feel at ease with our choice of landscaper. I contacted several Landscape contractors and only 3 showed up. Of the 3 only 1 actually gave me a quote. I was driving through my neighborhood and saw a truck with Pacific Landscape Service on the side. I stopped to talk to the worker and learned he was actually the owner. I explained I lived on the next street over and asked him if he could give me a quote. He was at my house 20 minutes later and I had a quote the next morning. His price was very reasonable. I explained that I am very hands on and have a specific idea of what I want. He also had some great ideas and it came out beautiful. Don't waste your time calling anyone else, G the owner is awesome. My mom needed work on her yard, so I looked on the Internet and found G.. We made the appointment for him to come and give her an estimate and I went over to her house and waited. He never called us to tell us he was going to be late and so I had to call him as he told me he was stuck in traffic and wasn't going to make it. I told him it would have been nice if he would have called us to let us know, and we made another appointment for him to come out and give her an estimate. He said he would give us a discount for the trouble. After the initial estimate I had to reach out to him multiple times before he sent me the invoice of what the estimate would be. It got to the point where I felt guilty because I was bugging him so much about doing work on my mother's yard. We finally agreed on A-day that he would come out, and he did the work in one day. Upon him leaving, he never gave my mother an invoice on any of the work that he had performed on that day. We had also agreed that he would be hired to do yard maintenance on my mother's house. This has been 3 weeks and I am still reaching out and bugging him to see if he is actually going to show up or give me an estimate on exactly what is included on the monthly maintenance. I've been working in customer service for 18 years for a big Box company and I know customer service. I chose G, by the comments that were online. So I am posting my experience in the hopes that it will give someone else clarity on how G treats his customers. The fact that I've had to Chase him for multiple weeks just to find out if he was going to do business with me or not is absolutely ridiculous.
