AMAZING! From design conception to completion, my project was executed perfectly by Ramiro and his crew. My 550+SF deck was falling apart. I wanted to eliminate it and replace with a patio space. However, my house is raised, so my idea was to keep the newer section of the deck. I determined the area to retain, blue taped it, and it was done...to exact design in my mind. Every detail that I wanted, it was done to the "T". Ramiro was always on top of his communication, and very responsive to my questions and asks. The craftmanship on the work was great as well. I've observed every stage of the job and I had no complaints! Everything was done accordingly...meaning the grading/sloping of the cement, the drainage, and the rebar. The woodwork was excellent as well! Due to the location of where the deck was cut, Ramiro needed to add bracing support. The new steps were cut and aligned to the old deck seamlessly. I also had Ramiro install the pergola I ordered from Costco. This was no easy task. It's a 10'x20' SF operable ceiling louvers. They have not done one before, so I provided the details from the manufacturer and videos. They took the time to review all the reference materials beforehand and upright it perfectly. In the pictures, the reduced deck was not stained or painted, because it wasn't in their scope. Saving some tasks for my son to do. :) Ramiro and team can do the work of most trades...cement, paver, and woodwork (from my experience). It is rare to find a team that can do it all. Certainly a cost savings from having a GC contracting with multiple sub-contractors...in my case, would've been three subs. What we needed done: 18" (leaning) concrete retaining wall removed, replaced with treated lumber wall, remove & replace 100' length of fence that was on top of the concrete wall. So the story starts as usual - old worn-out backyard (including rotten wooden deck that served as home to the wildlife for quite a bit - Yikes!) needed to be taken care of long time ago. Then came the puppy, and the priority for yard work swiftly shifted way up on the list of home projects. While collecting quotes and meeting with contractors, Ramiro stood out from the very beginning as someone who cared about the project, looked at it creatively while conservatively, as well as considered limitations - including finding the best solution within the budget on hands. Ramiro started in about 3 weeks from the date we first met to talk about project and quote, and worked consistently over the whole course of the project, including some Saturdays. He was not just overseeing the project, as it often happens with the larger companies, he's been the main hands-on worker from the beginning to the end. Every step of the way, he's been measuring and re-measuring, leveling, checking and re-checking; he kept me updated on what, when, how and why; was open to make adjustments (or talk me out of it and explain why); and he cleaned up the work site every day . When scheduling to bring the concrete truck, he advised me to notify my neighbors of the upcoming inconvenience - something that I wouldn't think of myself. His team worked tirelessly in over 100 degree heat to have the concrete job done efficiently and with consistent quality. He finished the whole project in about 5 weeks, then came back the next day to pressure wash the backyard and the driveway! Then back again to take care of little imperfections he noticed during the washing process! This might be more than one wants to read, so I will just refer to the most important issues first. We found Ramiro to be highly skilled, resourceful, and very honest! He worked on our project full time for over a month and we are extremely happy with the results. Now, some details about our project: For more than a year we attempted to have our infinity edge pool retiled. It is almost a joke to describe the process. Four different vendors referred to us personally or through Nextdoor came over and made a lot of promises. NOT ONE of these people provided the quotes they said we would have in days or weeks, or whenever. We actually called them several times and crickets. We even asked "what is wrong with our project that we cannot get a quote"- still no response-- a very local vendor even said we emailed it to you last week-- we said we did not receive so she said we will being it over personally tomorrow-- did not show or call, then called and said, sorry I am out of town, we will being it over Tuesday- did not- WOW! So then a pool contractor recommended another pool contractor who recommended Ramiro. We admit it was risky to take on such a large small job (LOL) with a relatively unknown guy but we did not want to miss another summer with an ugly pool- our mini glass tile had been failing for some time and was so unsightly we did not enjoy the pool. We decided to trust the guy that recommended Ramiro. We even went the route of time and materials, which I would never do unless there was a lot of trust--- but it is a great way to be fair to both sides in a project that is somewhat complicated. We agreed upon a daily labor rate and we paid for all the materials directly. Ramiro set to work, and given that we were paying a daily rate, he could have easily taken advantage of that and only worked 5-7 hours a day, or whatever, as we did not specify what constitutes a day. He worked 8-10 hours a day, even longer a few times, for over a month. It was clear he worked until an obvious stopping point. He removed all the old tile and prepped the surfaces and retiled. He did most of the work himself, only using another guy for clean up and hauling, etc-- he communicated well with both me and my husband, and made useful suggestions - my husband is an architect and particular about detail; Ramiro was accommodating. A week after we began the project COVID restrictions were put in place, Ramiro and I always were masked without discussion, he just did it . He came up with a solution to a problem we had with the old tile and in general was just a pleasure to work with --- We first spoke with Ramiro late January 2020, he was on another job-- He started our project mid to late February and although I don't remember exactly when completed - i think it was early April . It looks beautiful and we are more than pleased. We have a large property and over the 30 years we have been here we have employed an army of contractors and subcontractors.
