    We have been in communication with VM Drainage and Erosion Solutions since March 12, 2026 regarding…read moreproblems with two projects which they completed on our home. In 2021 they completed a waterproofing project which carries a 12 year warranty, and in 2022 they completed a patio installation which carries a 5 year warranty. As of April 22, 2026, VM Drainage and Erosion Solutions has not provided a solution to either of these problems. Our foundation wall was bowed before VM Drainage and Erosion Solutions excavated and waterproofed our home in 2021. We showed the bowed wall to VM Drainage and Erosion Solutions before the excavation began, and they recommended proceeding with the project without reinforcing the wall. We began to see small cracks in the foundation wall shortly after VM Drainage and Erosion Solutions completed the waterproofing. We showed the cracked wall to VM Drainage and Erosion Solutions before they installed our patio in 2022. VM Drainage and Erosion Solutions assured us that the cracks were not a problem. However, the cracks have grown substantially since then, and an independent structural engineer has confirmed that the wall is failing. In addition, the patio is sinking, the exterior waterproofing membrane is slipping, and there is a damp smell in our home near the cracked wall. In order to provide access to the cracked foundation wall for repairs, our patio will have to be removed, and the exterior of our home will have to be excavated again. Once the engineer's recommended repairs have been completed, the wall will have to be waterproofed again, and our yard will have to be regraded again. Finally, our patio will have to be reinstalled. We paid VM Drainage and Erosion Solutions to do all of this work in 2021 and 2022 because we trusted their professional opinion about our foundation wall. We now have to pay another contractor to do all of this work again so that our foundation wall can be reinforced. VM Drainage and Erosion Solutions has stated that they will not honor the warranty on the waterproofing project because the man who estimated the project is no longer employed by VM Drainage and Erosion Solutions. They have not provided details about how they will honor the warranty on the patio installation. We will update our review if VM Drainage and Erosion Solutions honors the warranties on their work. In the meantime, we cannot recommend VM Drainage and Erosion Solutions.

The team arrived on time, completed the project as scheduled, and even reinstalled my fence--all within budget. This wasn't my first time working with them. I previously hired them in the summer of 2021 for a retaining wall and French drain installation. Their pricing and quality workmanship brought me back, and I'm glad I chose them again. I've already been in touch with them about future driveway and concrete work because I know they'll do a great job. If you're looking for reliable, professional, and fairly priced work, I definitely recommend VM Drainage and Erosion.

    Phenomenal! Value…read moreDry was a referral from another small local company whom I implicitly trust. Markus, their VP, came out to give us a proposal and quote. We then got proposals from two other local companies. Though Value Dry was not the lowest quote, we felt by far the most comfortable using them. And we are very glad we did. Our entire basement, which is entirely below grade, has (had!) water seepage due to hydrostatic pressure (water is forced into the house from underground), especially this last year with all of the rain we've had. And we have a huge basement. Markus proposed a new french drain around the entire interior perimeter of our basement, all of the exterior walls: 210 linear feet in total (we have a big basement). He explained in-depth what they proposed to do and why and how. They also added a second sump pump for us. And a battery back-up pump. They sent a crew of just three guys. Roger was the foreman, and you just have to love that guy. Great personality and he calmly and politely answered every question I had (I'm a detail freak). They were fantastic. They kept everything as clean as possible (not completely, but you can only do so much for concrete dust from jackhammers). Their work was very detail-oriented. It was cool seeing the destruction followed by the construction, laying down the new PVC underground drainage pipes, the new concrete on top of it, etc. Roger and I had discussions throughout the week about how best to do several things, like where and how to place the clean-outs (we have two) for the pipes. Bottom line: Look no further. They are honest. Not too expensive. And they deliver exactly what they say they will. Also, just a few weeks after completing our basement they did a smaller job for my in-laws, also local. They were just as happy with their work and with both Markus and Roger and his crew as we were.     I'm leaving this review to share a balanced but honest account of my experience. While the end…read moreresult of the project was acceptable, the process was far more complicated and frustrating than it needed to be. The sales interaction set the tone with high‑pressure tactics, including statements like "this price is only available today." We moved forward anyway because we knew we wanted the work done. When I later asked to adjust the scope, the salesperson resisted for nearly ten minutes before agreeing to send a revised contract. The first crew delivered solid work on the drain line and concrete, but the vapor barrier installation was sloppy--uneven trimming, gaps, and inconsistent application. They also removed a board supporting the incoming water line without explanation, leaving it hanging from a wire and damaging the clamp. Their initial attempt to "fix" it involved taping the board to a pipe, which was not a proper or safe solution. The sump pump outlet was also installed in a way that caused the discharge pipe to partially block it, putting pressure on the plug. Communication was another major issue. I was never given a dedicated point of contact. I had to reach out to the salesperson again just to report problems. He forwarded my concerns to the office, and I was eventually contacted by Christal. She was professional and genuinely helpful, but her phone number repeatedly showed as disconnected, and only some text messages went through. I had to call the main line each time and ask to be routed to her. A week later, two crews returned and corrected the vapor barrier, repaired the board, and moved the outlet so it was no longer obstructed. The final work met expectations, but the overall experience involved unnecessary sales pressure, communication challenges, and multiple days off work for corrections and inspections.

    My experience with JES Repair was frustrating and ultimately disappointing…read more The project itself was completed on schedule, but the quality and planning of the work left a lot to be desired. The beam repairs appear to have been completed in the easiest way possible, with little consideration for the work that would need to happen afterward. The crew cut the subfloor approximately three inches away from the walls and left it unsupported. As a result, my flooring contractor had to tear out two sections of flooring and replace the entire subfloor in those areas because the necessary repairs were never addressed during the original project. Even more frustrating, JES only opened a limited section of the floor instead of exposing the entire affected area. Once the flooring contractor had everything opened up, additional damaged wood was discovered that now requires even more repairs. Since JES was already working in that area, it is difficult to understand how these issues weren't identified or why the floor wasn't opened far enough to properly inspect the entire section. Addressing everything while the area was already exposed would have saved significant time, cost, and disruption. The inspection process was another major disappointment. The county inspection failed and was rescheduled without anyone from JES informing me ahead of time. I was then told that no one from JES would attend the reinspection and that it was between me and the county. As a homeowner, I'm not a contractor and shouldn't be expected to answer technical questions or represent the company's work to the building inspector. I hired JES expecting professional workmanship, thorough planning, and support through the entire process. Instead, I've been left coordinating additional repairs, paying for work that could have been avoided, and handling inspection issues that should have been managed by the contractor. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend JES Repair.

    We had a $27k contract for JES to stabilize the foundation of our garage in Charlottesville and to…read moreaddress water that would seep into the basement during heavy rain events. The main work was done very well and professionally. The contract, however, also called for drilling a long hole into the end of a wall through multiple cinderblocks to drain the water intrusion that was getting specifically into the basement's stairwell wall. There was no other access point to the bottom cinderblocks of the stairway wall. It was a clever solution written into the contract, and the provision specifically stated that JES would bring a 36-48-inch masonry drill bit in order to drill a hole long enough to accomplish the goal. After the team completed the main work, we pointed out the need to finish the job by drilling this hole, but they did not have such a long bit with them. We then reached out many, many times over many months to get this hole drilled. Most often we were met with silence, but when we ultimately have gotten a response, the person would say, "Sorry, we will get that done." Twice, JES workers have actually shown up -- but without a long drill bit. They would then look at the situation and understand why the long drill bit was needed, say they would arrange for it to happen, and then radio silence. After we posted a longer version of the story as a review, apparently higher-up JES management people got involved and pretty quickly sent someone out with the right drill and bit to finish the contracted work. Presumably, some HR training has happened also and given that the job is now complete with the vast majority of it having been done well and in a timely manner -- I've now upwardly revised my rating.

    BUYER BEWARE!! Misleading Sales Recommendations, Poor Communication, and No Follow-Up…read moreOn April 29, 2026, a JES representative named Zeke conducted our annual inspection of the encapsulation system that JES originally installed. During the inspection, he stated that our dehumidifier was "showing signs of failure" and strongly recommended replacing it. He initially quoted $4,125 for the replacement but quickly reduced the price to $3,500. When we asked what diagnostic data supported his recommendation and whether the unit could be repaired instead, we received no satisfactory answers. I contacted the dehumidifier manufacturer directly and learned that JES technicians should contact the manufacturer's technical support to diagnose error codes and troubleshoot the equipment. According to the manufacturer, no one from JES had contacted them regarding our unit. To verify the recommendation, we hired two independent crawlspace environmental companies to inspect the system. Both companies confirmed that the dehumidifier was operating properly and did not need replacement. Based on these independent inspections, we believe the recommended replacement was unnecessary and would have cost us $3,500 for equipment that did not need to be replaced. Concerned by these findings, I requested that a manager inspect the crawlspace and address our concerns. On May 15, 2026, JES manager JB Samuel visited our home and confirmed that the dehumidifier was working properly, validating that the original replacement recommendation was unnecessary. While he corrected one critical drain concern and added a bolt to the crawlspace door, he also identified additional concerns that had not been noted during the original inspection. It has now been 8 weeks since our original inspection and 6 weeks since the manager's visit, yet we have received NO FOLLOW UP regarding those issues. On June 11, 2026, I sent a certified letter to Dree Gooding, General Manager of the Ashland, VA location, detailing our concerns and requesting a written plan of action. JES has not responded to the letter or provided any resolution. Our experience has been extremely disappointing. We were given a costly replacement recommendation that multiple independent inspections determined was unnecessary. Even after a manager confirmed our dehumidifier was functioning properly, JES failed to communicate, follow through on the remaining issues, or respond to our certified correspondence. BUYER BEWARE!! Before approving expensive repairs or equipment replacements, make sure you get a independent second opinion. Based on our experience, JES did not stand behind its recommendations or provide the level of customer service and follow-up we expected.
