One of my biggest pet peeves is when restaurants reduce the guality or quantity of their meal to cut costs while charging premium prices. I will say I didn't mind paying a few dollars more for their subs in the past. I went there today for the first time in a couple of years, ordered a regular size basic ruben sandwich (no add-ons) and was ok paying nearly $18 dollars for just the sandwich until they handed it to me. what I got was a small 6" sub. When did their subs shrink?? in this economy we are all struggling. I get it, things cost more but Craves' owner is not doing his patrons a service by charging them premiums while cutting back on the meals. If you're ok paying that much for a shrunken sub, more power to you. I l, however, will not be going back there.

I prefer peanut butter and jam instead of meat and jam. Only veggie was chopped lettuce and barely saw anything else. Overwhelming flavor was the jam which was squeezing out of the sandwich. Disappointed- was hoping for an impressive sandwich at this price point.

I have to admit the more Nick the Greek proliferates, the less I feel motivated to try it. That's because my previous experiences have been more middling than exceptional. What led me here was the convenience afforded me from the GrubHub app. I could pick up my order in less than 15 minutes and be on my bus on time. I ordered the $16.95 Prasini Salad with Chicken Gyro (Photo 7). The salad itself was refreshing enough consisting of romaine, scallions, dill, and crumbled feta with lemon zest dressing. The chicken gyro was unfortunately a bit greasy and overcooked. It didn't really enhance the salad. Instead of going for their signature Avgolemono Soup (which I've enjoyed), I probably made a mistake ordering the $5 Fries which had a similar consistency to the chicken (Photo 5). I'm impressed how Nick continues to pop up almost automatically in places with high foot traffic, but I'm hoping the speed of their growth is not compromising execution of their food. If you're strolling Berkeley for the day, this is a good spot to hang for yummy lunch. The prices are reasonable and the service was fast. Our order was perfectly made to our specs. The employees are friendly and helpful. First of all, the inside is huge! I was surprised by how much seating there is. Also, there is an upstairs area with MORE seating! You order at a computer screen at the front, but employees are there to help you if you need assistance. It was easy to order our food. They text you when it's ready and you go pick it up at the counter. Burgers - perfectly cooked and hot - and delicious. SO many toppings you can choose from. Fries - hot and crispy. Served with ranch, and lots of other sauce options. We are not soda people really, so we drink water usually. Two burgers and two fries was $25.00 which isn't bad for downtown, freshly made food. This is a great option for campus.

Honestly, I can't say enough about how pleasant our experience was. Located in Berkeley, I was able to find street parking with a 2-hour limit close to the establishment. Upon our arrival, we were greeted and given the option to dine inside or on the covered patio. Although it was beginning to rain, we opted for the outdoor seating for the ambience. The fire pit, heated lamps, and the umbrellas really set the tone for a relaxing dining experience. The boys ordered a plain hamburger with curly fries, chicken tenders with skinny fries, and Oreo milkshakes. I decided on the specialty western burger and a Turkish coffee. I was assured the kids' fries would be plentiful, so there wasn't a need to order à la carte. The food was delicious and flavorful with great portion sizes. Our needs were anticipated, kindness exuded from the staff as well as timely servicing. We dined uninterrupted but not neglected. We raced to see who could complete the word searches, rated our food, and enjoyed each other's company while watching the rain fall. 10/10 we would do it again.

Thank you for that suggestion. Also quick tip, if you are lactose intolerant, get their non dairy option and it will taste the same as a regular milkshake. It's really good. No matter what you get, you can't really go wrong. You can just tell by the line they have out the door.
