    French Fries

Food: I ordered the Chipotle Burger withspicy chipotle sauce, jack cheeses and sauteed mushrooms. I also had the steak fries and a Coke. My burger was delicious 8.5/10. Nicely seasoned, cooked to perfection. ( I like mine well done.) The fries were slightly crispy on the outside yet tender on the inside. Just the way I like a steak fry. My husband had the Beach Body Salad. I dont like salad but it looked great and he enjoyed it. Ambiance: Just a regular burger joint. Nothing special but not bad. Service: Service was ok. A little slow and the wait staff did not seem super engaged. That said they were pleasant in interactions. Parking: Well, its downtown Oakland friends. What can I say? Good luck Overall: The menu is varied in burger types and customizable. They even carry salads and turkey, salmon, chicken or vegan options for those who are health conscious or have dietary restrictions. They also have an assortment of fries, hot dogs and sandwiches. The serving size is better than good. The wait staff is pleasant and if you just want a good burger without all the frills-- this is your spot!

Burger was excellent and service was quick. On the pricey side but what isn't nowadays. I also appreciate the outside deck they have.

I have eaten at Barney's for Brunch and for Lunch. Both times my food was delicious. I tried several sides including onion rings and sweet potato fries. The service was good, I believe it was the owner who stopped by our table both times to make sure everything was going well. It was clean and and music playing was a good variety and not too loud. I will be going back to try the milkshakes next

We couldn't have picked a better spot for a last-minute Valentine's Day date night. The ambiance was perfect, our orders were taken within minutes, and the food arrived promptly and exactly as described. Our waiter, Emiliano, was hands down one of the best I've ever had--attentive, friendly, and genuinely great at his job. Whether that speaks to how well this place treats its employees or we just got lucky, we had an outstanding experience and will definitely be back. As for the food, I ordered the Moroccan burger with bacon, plus a full side of French fries to share--which, honestly, was enough for three or more people. We also got the Mediterranean plate, which was solid overall (4/5 stars). Some of the tomatoes and peppers seemed hastily plated, but the falafel was fantastic. Their house-made ranch is some of the best I've had. My girlfriend went with the turkey club, which was massive and hit the spot. We also shared a milkshake, and for the price, the portion was generous, and the ingredients tasted a notch above the usual. If you visit, be sure to ask for Emiliano--he truly elevated our experience. Our total came to $90 before tip, which is a bit pricey for two gourmet meals, two sides, a drink, and a milkshake--but for a special occasion, it was absolutely worth it. Enjoy!

Great location, great service, great food options, great drink options - overall enjoyable. About the food: my party and I had the California and the Santa Fe burgers (on gluten free buns) - both cooked right and though with flavorful ingredients, the taste was a still a bit bland. Lesson here is PLEASE SEASON. The Chili Fries were the clear winner - crispy as can be, cheesy enough, and the chili seemed pretty fresh. Would come back, but mostly for drinks and chili fries again - also for the tremendous service!

Came here with a small group of friends. It was a nice day out so we enjoyed the outdoor seating on their patio. Dog friendly outside. I had the Western burger and a salad we got one curly fry that we were all able to share! Everything was delicious. The service was quick and everything was served fresh. I recommend this place for a good burger/fries!

A tiny burger.... AND ONLY $17!!

Super expensive. This place is near a bunch of good restaurants. I'm not sure what happened here. The food is not very good, the prices are incredibly high. The place looks like an Applebee's inside, but the outdoor deck is quite nice, and if you ignore the constant buzz of traffic, you can catch yourself enjoying the weather. The burger ($17) was terrible. The tomato was bland, a single leaf of lettuce, a sad and soggy pickle spear, and one slice of red onion. The burger patty itself was like a hockey puck. Dry and unseasoned. Not that I eat hockey pucks that often, but I imagine this is what one would taste like. The chicken sandwich was just sad ($21). They wasted an entire head of cabbage just to hide how small the actual chicken was. Like a thin-smashed tender. The breading on it was quite nice though... so that's good? The only good thing about our meal here was the fries. They don't come with the $21 chicken sandwich ot the $17 burger. A single fry order is $5. Just unbelievable how much a simple lunch costs here. TL;DR: Just save your money.

For our drinks, I had the Moonlight Blossom, my aunt had a glass of red wine, and my mom had a cucumber mint spritzer (mocktail as she was the DD). The moonlight blossom tasted similar to cherry limeade. The entrees we had were the mussels, veggie burger, and the chef's market pizza. The mussels themselves were tasty and appreciated that they were able to leave out the chorizo. However, I wish that they brought a spoon and there was more broth. I tried some of my mom's veggie burger and the red color from the beets made it stand out from the usual veggie burger. The fries tasted homemade. I had a slice of the pizza and while I like the ingredients themselves, the combination just didn't do it for me. The crust was good though! We also shared a green goddess salad, which was tasty. The desserts looked amazing but we had no room! Service was friendly and our waitress made good recommendations. Can park on the side streets or the garage. Restaurant was not noisy. Would come back to try other items, especially dessert.

The food also came out pretty quickly. The presentation of the pizza was top notch and I could not wait to dig in. The portion size was adequate. The vegan cheese was yummy and the spice level of the pizza was just right. The pizza was packed with flavor and thin crust! My friend liked the shakshouka too. Wood Tavern met the criteria for a relatively nice American restaurant in North Oakland. We visited for lunch and wanted to make this special for our mom, so we were perhaps a bit overdressed in business casual, but this is Oakland after all. On an ordinary Thursday, there were multiple groups waiting outside for the restaurant to open at 11:30 AM. That in itself should tell you how popular this place is. My wife and I dined at sister restaurant Southie next door a few years ago and really enjoyed it (I also rated it five stars on Yelp), so I was confident Wood Tavern would not disappoint. I initially booked our reservation using OpenTable to link it to my account and get 100 points. Since the max party size for Wood Tavern on OpenTable is four, I had to call to get it changed to eight. Due to the large party size, the restaurant also required me to give them my credit card info and be subject to a $25 per person no-show fee. Upon arrival, our tables were ready for us in the back corner near the open kitchen. The restaurant is true to its name with a shared bar and dining room space that evoke the feel of a wood tavern. Here's what we had: Wine of the Day * Rosé (100% Zweigelt), Stefan Pratsch, Niederösterreich, Austria, 2024 ($16) "N/A Libations" and other drinks * Cherry Bomb! non-alcoholic cocktail ($13) - Tilden Lacewing, Amarena cherry, lime, ginger beer, tall glass * Shirley Temple ($5) * Diet Coke ($5) * Iced Tea ($4) Soup & Salad * Red & Golden Beet Salad x2 ($16 each, one with fish added for $8) - frisee, castelfranco, pistachios, orange segments, Laura Chenel goat cheese, Cara Cara orange vinaigrette Sandwiches * The Hot Pastrami x2 ($25 each) - Emmentaler cheese, Dijon-horseradish dressing, La Farine baguette Old Reliables * Seafood Stew ($32) - rock cod, Manila clams, PEI mussels, calamari, butter beans, fennel, leeks, chili flakes, garlic toast * Pork Ragu Casarecce ($30) - Castelvetrano olives, Pecorino Romano, Grana Padano, chili flakes, parsley * Tavern Burger with French Fries on Acme Soft Bun with All the Fixins x3 ($25 each, two with cheddar added for $2 each) Everything was excellent. As for what to order, I recommend all of the dishes we got. It really just depends on what you like and/or what you're in the mood for. Everyone loved the food. The beet salad was fresh and flavorful, the pastrami was one of the best I've had anywhere, my mom raved about the seafood stew, my brother-in-law gobbled up all of the casarecce, and the burger was outstanding. Service was polite and speedy. Our server Sophia C was awesome. We split one of the salads and the stew, so they came out plated and served in half portions which was nice of the kitchen staff to do.

Throughout the meal, he never checked on our table, even though we noticed him checking on the surrounding tables several times. At one point, the patio umbrella unexpectedly fell near our table.
