Delicious pan dulce. Muy delicioso el pan dulce. The service was fast at this little neighborhood bakery that also has food items. But the mainstay was the bread. So many options. And right now for October, they have the pan de muerto on display which makes for perfect ambiance. I wished they had some coffee to go with my Pan dulce. And they were sold out of tamales around 10-11 on Sunday. I guess they are popular. My favorite of the pan dulces was the marranitos. Though you can never go wrongs with one of their concha's or empanadas. read more

The foods decent but the cook has attitude and rolled her eyes when I placed my order. I forgot salsa so I went back in and the same lady that was the cooking had an attitude as she gave me the salsa and she slapped it on the counter. Will never come back here ever again. Ok.... I'm new to the town. I asked around and everybody said this was the best bakery. I got there early and they were just bringing out the baked goods. I got a selection. 3 bags worth. It was easy and so many to choose from! They were warm and fresh. Omg! So delicious. I gave them to my coworkers and then traveled 5 hours home and gave some to my kids. The bread is very delicious and soft food is just ok. The service there is not great the cashier is always in a bad mood and rude and over packs the bread. I asked for an extra bag she gave me a dirty look and said the bread wouldn't get crushed. When I got home my bread was in pieces I don't know why she's a cashier she should be in the back if she can't even be courteous. read more

Wow, and to think OC had great Mexican food. This bakery had me second guessing. While traveling through to Northern CA we stumbled upon this cute shop. They had Mexican pastries, fresh squeezed oj, tortas ect. We ordered a bacon breakfast burrito. The bacon was crispy, potatoes seasoned, every bite followed a cheese pull. I wish I hadn't buy a bunch of bread before trying but I saw 4+ star bakery so went for it. The bread here has nothing special in taste I tried much better. I read the reviews after I bought my bread and noticed about a famous jalapeño and cheese bread been the best and couldn't help noticing a guy grabbing a bunch of just that, I probably try it but for sure nothing else. Oh the heavenly smells when you step inside the door! It's a very simple place, but it's packed all the time because they bake and cook fresh daily. I fell for the pastries first and still haven't tried all of them. When I found out they have combination plates, I got excited. Their tamales are some of the best I've ever had! I tried the three street tacos special a few days ago and it too impressed with how delicious it was. I suggest stopping by either around 10-11 am or 2-4 pm, if you prefer to avoid crowds. You can also eat on the screened-in patio. It's very relaxing. I haven't tried their cakes, however I've seen a few special orders in the display case. They are beautifully decorated and I'm sure as delectable as everything else. Now I'm getting hungry for anything from there. Tomorrow sounds like a great time for me to treat myself again. read more

Update: we went back to this place a few weeks ago because we happened to be in the area, after I placed our order, the woman turned her back on me & was reading our order to the cook & I could see her facial expressions from the side, like she was telling her something without speaking & kept taking long pauses & smiling, I don't know what was up with her, but we ordered a carne asada plate & a bean burrito; the "carne asada" wasn't a steak, it was the cut up meat they use in the burritos (which is okay, not even tripping off that, even though, the picture showed a steak) anyway, the total should've been maybe $15, more or less, but the thief charged my card almost $40 for that... ridiculous. I doubt I'll go back. This place has gone downhill. I haven't had a good (restaurant) torta in a while... delicious carne asada torta & ten stars for adding avocado (since other restaurants skimp out on it)... plus, they have pan dulce. I went again, yesterday, since we were in the area & had the same carne asada torta (because it was so delicious the first time), but the meat was different, there were a few fatty tissue in it & there was a bone in there too (I've never came across carne asada with a bone) so... I don't know if we had good luck the first time or bad luck the second time... read more

I Wanted to give this place a try since they were promoting their food on the Los Banos page, but not only was the lady rude, they didn't have any of the items they were promoting and when we asked for anything else on the menu they made it seem like they didn't want to make anything for us. It sucks, I don't know why specifically Mexican women hate me when they hear me speak clear Spanish I know they don't like me because I'm a light skin and I'm Mexican but come On man do you really have to be a B? it's a damn shame, but maybe we dodged a bullet. We stopped by on the way to the "path of the Padres " tour at Los Banos Creek Reservoir. We got there shortly after 6 am on Sunday , not expecting them to be opened but they were opened at 6 am on Sunday. As soon as we walked in , we were welcomed by warm smiles and friendly good mornings and the delicious sweet aroma of the pan de dulce. I've always loved the triangle shaped bread with sweet pumpkin paste in the middle , sweet cookie-like crust half dome sweet bread and custard cream filled pans. I didn't see the pumpkin filled , when I asked them , they let me go into the back where they bake the breads and they let me pick whatever I wanted. Great customer service and delicious fresh baked sweet pans made an awesome start to our adventure:) read more

I recommend visiting their establishment located at 740 I Street in Los Banos. Please do not be deterred by the tiny parking lot. Simply park out front along the curb and go on in. I've tried everything from their bakery goods to their delicious burritos and have never been disappointed. Most recently I tried the chicken and pork tamales and they were a nice treat. The price is a bit high so don't expect Walmart parking lot vendor prices but they are worth it. The masa was especially surprising. Not many people can make masa taste that good. The meat to masa ratio was spot on. Those of you with tamale making families will probably be the most difficult to sell on these because let's face it...there is nothing quite like homemade, but give them a try.
