Eddie's Café - I've been coming here for a while, but this will be my last visit. The food was definitely one star while the service was maybe three stars, but I'm here for the food -- and it was terrible. This place has really gone downhill. Not sure if there are new owners, but it's noticeable. The new menu was already annoying. For example, they have an Eddie's McMuffin that doesn't even come with an egg -- you have to pay an extra $1.99 for that. Ridiculous. I decided to go with the sausage and egg breakfast listed at $15.99, but when the receipt came, it showed $16.63 before tax. Why the discrepancy? The food came out quickly, but it was awful. The sausage patty had zero sausage flavor -- more like an overcooked hamburger. The bread was super hard, and I couldn't even eat most of it. The only decent part of the meal were the eggs. That's it. Yes, I left most of my food behind, and yes, they still charged me a lot for a breakfast I didn't get to enjoy. This will be the last time I visit Eddie's Café. read more

This is a great American brunch spot with some Mexican dishes. Or maybe it's a Mexican-American brunch spot. The food was delicious. Lots of American breakfast options and some Mexican food options too. I ordered the chilaquiles with steak and got it perfectly medium. The red chilaquiles were on point. Just wanted a bigger portion. Maybe less potatoes and more chilaquiles. Eggs and refried beans were perfect. The potatoes needed a little more salt for my taste. They were able to accommodate a big party. The ambiance was ideal. Not too loud, but not dead. Prices were good for the good quality food. I would highly recommend them. I can't wait to come back and try something else. My kids loved their pancakes. Their coffee is good too. Winner winner. read more

My favorite potato's and gravy ever. The asparagus omelet is great. It is a Los Banos staple.

It has a good ambience the service is great the only thing I had an issue with was that our food was a little cold I ordered some chilaquiles and were cold. They were good but that was my first time eating there but I know I'll go again and try something else and then I'll update my review. read more

This breakfast diner was next to my hotel and we kept seeing people entering the day before so we had to try it out. The biggest thing that got me was that the hospitality was there, everyone was super nice and patient. They even liked to start a conversation even tho it was super busy. I had gotten the COUNTRY BENEDICT, it was delicious, the gravy on top of the eggs and the sausages inside. Bomb!! I also love cinnamon rolls, one of the reasons I came, and it was ok just looks good. Was dry and it didn't have a glaze just alot of butter on top. Would def come here again!! read more

I was invited here for brunch by a friend a few weeks ago and the food and service were excellent. The ambience is busy and bustling but the three table servers had it covered. We were served at the counter and ordered some typical savory breakfast items that were tasty, great value, and would deserve our repeat business. They also have a great selection of condiments. This is now the new go to breakfast diner in Los Banos, with traditional Mexican, American, and pancake dishes that won't fail to impress. There is always plenty of parking and the table and counter service is efficient and friendly. Avoid the chains and come down for some local hospitality that provides great food, beverages, and deserts. Kudos to the relatively new owner for restoring this local restaurant legend to its pride of glory it deserves. read more

Anyone traveling I-5 between southern and Northern California should consider a stop here for Breakfast. The portions are large, the prices are reasonable, and the service is efficient and friendly (most notably my usual server Ricardo). I've tried the eggs and hash browns and bacon with the home made biscuit and home made green chili salsa all cooked nicely. And 4 strips of bacon, not short-changed like other diners. I've also tried the waffle with eggs and ham steak. The waffle was warm and not overcooked, the ham steak was thick and took up half the plate, supplied with a real serrated knife to cut the ham. Green chili salsa as well, generously extra portion of the salsa on request. Eddie's is just some 10-15 minutes off I-5, with a number of gas stations nearby. read more

On our way down to Palm Springs, we wanted to get through all the potential traffic getting out of the Bay and then decided to stop in here for breakfast. I ordered two poached eggs with fruit and the breakfast sausage. The eggs were poached perfectly and then sausage was delicious (and homemade from what I gathered)! The fruit was also nice and fresh. I had also heard about the cinnamon roll here, so I ordered one for the both of us to share. The cinnamon roll was straight out of the oven and HUGE! Oh and also delicious! Food had ice crystals when it was served. My wife's over medium eggs were undercooked. My impression of this place is that the staff stop caring. The coffee was cold and our waitress could not be bothered to check on us. The worst part is the price of our food was marked up because we used a credit card. A total increase of 14% on the total bill. According to the staff this was noted on the menu, but this was never conveyed to us prior to giving us the bill. This seems illegal. It was fine. The breakfast was ok, I had scrambled eggs and ham. Husband had rye toast, fried egg, extra crispy hash browns. He liked them. The waitress was definitely the highlight. She was attentive while not hovering. She had no idea why Eddie was Famous. Next time we'll do one of the newer chain restaurants surrounding Eddie's. Perhaps a paint job, a ladies room remodel, and at least a fable theme of whoever Eddie was would help. And tell the staff what the story is! Two stars are for 100% terrific server. I didn't have super high hopes for Eddie's and was right. We ordered an English muffin breakfast sandwitch and chipotle chicken sandwich. Both had processed cheese, bottled sauce/dressing and definitely not fresh bread as advertised. Generally tasteless. All you need to really know is that in the men's restroom they displayed an actual faded newspaper clipping from 1986 with a good review. That may have been the last good review they received. I will say that the server and hostess were very pleasant. Save yourself a trip. read more

I was shocked by how good the food was. Well made and fresh. Sweet potato fries had clearly come out of the fryer seconds before arriving at our table. I mean, the place is right on the freeway. They could do a so-so job and still be successful, because tons of people driving by need to eat. But, no, they are doing a good job for the sake of doing a good job. I respect that. howdy partner! tis I thou'st favorite eater, hector salamanca back with another fine eatery. today's eatery... eddie's famous cafe and famous it was. upon first glance this cafe doesn't seem like much but as soon as you walk in those double doors your life will be forever changed. immediately i got seated by an amazingly kind waiter, he was both friendly, talkative, knowledgeable, and above all his service was excellent. the ambience and decor was reminiscent of an ol-timely cafe with rich history. me and my fellow old timers ordered a variety of yummy dishes. the food came quickly and was better than excellent, the quantities plentiful and the price spot on. two things stood out today, our waiter and our food. together it is clear what this delicious cafe must get... a 10/10. i haven't been in los baños long but i do know this, if your hungry... check out, eddie's famous cafe. well now, i've got a long journey ahead (ive got a wheelchair racing tournament) so ill catcha all later. adios! read more

This restaurant was a nice surprise. Stopped to grab some breakfast on our way to Monterey. The restaurant was very clean, small but very comfortable. The food was delicious. We had, breakfast burrito, eggs and hash brown, 2 eggs and bacon. The coffee was unusual, unlike regular acidic diner coffee, their coffee had a nice roasted nutty finish. My family was looking for a place to grab breakfast, and I'm so glad I found Eddie's Cafe on yelp. It was the perfect pit stop in Los Banos, and it is right off of Hwy 152. We arrived at 9am on a Sunday morning, and there was already a lot of customers dining in the restaurant. We got to pick our own seats. A few minutes later, menus and drink orders were taken. It was nice to see lunch options were available at breakfast time. My daughter was able to order spaghetti for her kids meal. I ordered a Western burrito, and my husband ordered an Eggs Benedict dish. About 10 minutes later, our food was ready. The portions are definitely huge. The eggs benedict was a huge ham steak on top of toasted english muffin. The kids spaghetti was mixed in meat sauce, and it was really good. My Western burrito was packed with bell peppers, onion, eggs, bacon and hash brown. Overall, service was awesome here. Every few minutes, a worker will stop to check on every table. The prices here are very reasonable and the food is very tasty. I highly recommend! read more

I've been going to this café since I was born... literally. I started out in a high chair, and am now in my 40s. This is hands down by far the best breakfast I have ever found. And I've searched hard! Try to find a better biscuit I dare you. Try to find better sausage patties... there sausage is homemade! Don't get me started on their cinnamon roles. And there secret sauce... one of the most incredible salsas I've had!
