My mother and I came to pick up a pre-paid order of chicken wings for a birthday. The order had already been prepared, so we only needed the bags handed to us and the pickup finalized. When we arrived, one employee, Ariel, was preparing sandwiches for another customer. We showed our receipt and asked if we could quickly pick up our prepaid order since it was already sitting behind the counter. Ariel told us, "Your bag of chicken is right over there, but you have to wait your turn," and continued preparing the sandwiches. We also asked another employee beforehand if he could help us since it seemed like it would only take a moment to hand us the order, but he told us we also had to wait our turn before walking away to another department. I understand helping customers in the order they arrive, as I also work in food industry, but it was frustrating to see a completed pickup order sitting there while we waited for a lengthy sandwich order to be finished. A little flexibility or communication would have gone a long way. The interaction felt dismissive, and the customer service left a poor impression. 1 star is being way too nice. read more

**Unnecessarily Complicated Checkout Process and Poor Customer Service** I frequently shop at SaveMart and always check sales on my phone before heading into the store. However, once inside, I couldn't get reception to clip my coupon for one of the items I was purchasing. I approached the cashier, who was incredibly helpful and patient, asking how I could still get my coupon discount. She tried to clip the coupon on my SaveMart app after ringing up my groceries, but she had the same issue with the app loading. She even asked the head clerk if the discount could be applied manually. The head clerk came over and, instead of assisting, whispered to her (but loud enough for me to hear), "Make sure they have their coupons clipped before checking out." It felt dismissive and unprofessional. While the cashier continued trying to load the app, the head clerk kept walking by, making unhelpful comments about how long the process was taking. This only added unnecessary pressure to an already stressful situation for both the cashier and me. Despite this, the cashier went out of her way to grab the free promotional soda I earned with my purchase. Eventually, after multiple attempts, the head clerk begrudgingly agreed to let her manually apply the coupon. My total came to **$68.75**, and I handed over cash. Just as the transaction was nearly complete, the head clerk unnecessarily intervened again, insisting the cashier void the entire transaction and take me to the customer service desk to start over. At the service desk, the head clerk re-rang my groceries, and my new total came to **$71.37**--higher than before! When I asked why there was a difference, he shrugged and said, "I don't know, I just rang it up." This was an unacceptable response, especially since the purpose of moving to the customer service desk was supposedly to ensure the charges were correct. I also asked him if I had received the promotional soda for free, as I was now trying to figure out the discrepancy in the total. His response? **"Yes, it's free, but if you want to pay for it, you can."** WOW! I couldn't believe the level of poor customer service this guy was displaying. It was the worst customer service I've seen from a lead clerk in a very long time. The kiosk for entering my phone number to access rewards was poorly positioned, hidden behind advertisements at the far end of the desk, and I had no idea he was waiting for me to input my number. Rather than offering clear instructions, he impatiently looked at me, adding to the frustration. When I pointed out the price discrepancy and asked why I was paying more, he didn't bother to investigate. No one was waiting behind me, so there was no urgency, but instead of addressing the issue, he rushed through the process, leaving me with a higher total and a sour experience. It ultimately took longer to check out my groceries than it did to shop for them, all because of unnecessary interventions and poor customer service from the head clerk. SaveMart, if you value your customers, please train your staff to handle these situations with more professionalism and respect. I wish there was a Safeway in town. read more

Today corn was $1.50 an ear! Yep, 2 for $3. In September, in season. Strawberries? $4.99 "Choice" filet mignon? $29/pound, extra tough. I was able to buy a single item today. "Rustic" loaf of bread for $3.49. It was the last one too. "Lucky" me. Please "Save" Mart, go out of business ASAP. Your pathetic food quality along with prices that increase every day doesn't serve any community in California, except maybe your employees. Los Banos desperately needs better choices of food. I called four times to place an order from the deli department. They never answered and I was disconnected each time, I gave up.

I have no idea why I've never thought to review Savemart. Not as if I haven't been shopping here since moving. Anyhow, this store is in large shopping center therefore parking is ample. I go to Savemart when I need an item that is a little more specialized. When I need an asian or an middle eastern ingredient I can almost always find it here as opposed to Walmart, Target or Food4Less. The bathrooms are always clean and well stocked. The seafood is fresh. I like the juicebar they have in the front of the store where they offer freshly pressed juices. We are also fans of their tri-colored tortilla chips. They are thin and aren't greasy, think Chili's tortilla chips. Their store is always organized and well stocked. Produce department is so neat and produce is always fresh which lends this part of the store such vibrant colors. Every time I have gone they have an enough cashier's to keep the lines flowing. Now that we are in the time of Covid they have someone standing by the door and ensuring that all the carts being returned are wiped down and disinfected before you take yours. Prices are decent. Especially if you catch a good seafood or meat deal. Everyone is eager to help and don't make you feel like you are bothering them. They truly want you to have a good experience and be a repeat customer. This past Christmas we purchased our Christmas tree from Savemart. They had better prices than Home Depot and had better looking trees than Walmart. Their tree's are being shipped in from Oregon. The trees were tall and full. From what it looked like they had several tree deliveries to ensure they were well stocked. The only "complaint" I have has nothing to do with the store but the street right in front of the store. A few months back a lady was struck by a lifted truck and is still in the hospital with serious brain injuries. For some reason people drive really fast right outside the store. I've been there on several occasions where cars AND trucks are still driving really fast through there. It might be time to place some speed bumps right outside the store just to help with this problem. I'd hate to see another person hit there. read more

Don't take the survey on receipt it's a waste of time they don't honor it when you go shopping it doesn't say so on the receipt but you have to take the survey within three days and use it within three days. Who does that? The bagger/courtesy clerks, don't even offered to help carry groceries to the car anymore. They let those of us who are disabled or elderly struggle with a huge grocery orders alone. It's really a shame. It was the only decent grocery store in town and now it isn't any more. The store is very organized and clean, it is very easy to find whatever I need. The staff in the bakery/deli is very helpful everytime I am there. I called to place a cake order and this nice young lady named Angela walked me through every step of ordering. She helped me decide on decorations for my nephew's cake and was very detailed with the order. The cake came out great and a very reasonable price. I definitely recommend ordering cakes from here, the decorators are very good. read more

The only reason I like this store is because they have organic produce and more meat options. But I'm so fed up with everytime I'm there I have to check the stupid expiration date because they never have a good control of food that has gone bad. Today is one of the many times I got something from the store and it's expired when I finally check it at home. I love save mart but it's so expensive I don't ever remember it being so up there with their prices . Considering we are in a recession this is probably the worst time to buy anything in this economy right now even groceries ! I spend $230-$300 for essential food items for the month / normally would cost about $150 at food for less for the same items . Just wish they could reason with the community some how for their prices . Now I only go when I need specific items from here because you will spend a pretty penny here if u don't watch what you add to your cart . read more

Out of all the savemarts I've been to, this one is by far the worse one. It's clean and well put together unlike their employees if you can even find one. The ones at self check out just stare at you till you ask multiple times for help. I ask about a product returning and they act like I asked for their first born child. They give you the wrong estimate instead of just telling you they aren't sure or asking someone who is. Ill never forget the dudes face when I asked about vegan eggs, the confusion was real. Absolutely love Save Mart's, and this one is no exception. However, their urinal had been out for at least three weeks. How hard is it to get a plumber in to make necessary repairs??? Los Banos Save Mart has really declined in the past few years. They never have items and when you ask they say they have no control of their delivery truck. Yet if I drive to Patterson they have the items. Los Banos employees won't even try to order for you. There's often one or two long lines with 3-4 checkers that could open a line but they won't. They just expect you to go through a self check line. Employees seem to have no energy or interest in service. I've lived here for 40 years and many of my friends agree with this negative experience. sad but I try as much as possible to shop out of town. read more

Definitely the better of the two supermarkets in town. There's some good stuff that goes on sale, and you can take advantage of the dry goods that go on sale. I went in this morning and have never been treated so poorly! I was followed around by some short chubby lady and then followed outside by some guy with slicked back greasy hair for no reason other than they had nothing else to do than to make customers feel awkward. They're very well stocked and I'm always given fantastic customer service and help when I need it. Overall, I like it here. I ordered a cake for my daughter's first birthday and they did an excellent job on it. I even received a free smash cake which I very much appreciated! However, I don't love the staff. I have had two negative encounters so far. One was with a worker named Riley, a young man, who I've seen on multiple occasions laughing at customers behind their backs. Very immature and unprofessional to say the least. My brother is single and no family near by so the manager cut him off a portion of the leg of lamb so my brother could enjoy his Easter Dinner. Sad to say the store seems to be getting worse, not just not having alot of items , I understand the Covid situation, but their customer service is worse. I waited and waited in line, then they close the line I was waiting in, opened another, a ton of people rush to the new line, so I went down to the end and got in line, waited in line, here he comes, closed the line and takes tons of other people to that line. I left, I went to food 4 less, they had everything I needed and more and it was cheaper and the clerks were very nice. I won't be going back to Savemarr ever. read more

This place has the best product, both in quality and selection. Prices are a bit higher than WalMart, but still pretty good. They get 3 stars because I came in last week after 10 pm because I knew they were open later than Walmart. Until 11 I believe. I was surprised to learn they were actually open until 12. Tonight I drove all the way across town and got there at 10:30. The doors are locked and when I knocked on the door they said they close at 10 every night and have been for a year. This Save Mart is always clean and always has the freshest produce in town. The employees are always so helpful and polite. They have great deals on meats so keep an eye on out for those. Their juice bar is SO good! The 7layer dip and party trays next to the juice bar are also very good! I've been getting cakes from their bakery for years, The black forest cake is a family favorite. Their strawberry shortcake is delicious as well. My favorite is their marbled cake, fresh strawberries and whipped topping, that's the one I usually get for birthdays. Their fresh baked breads, donuts, cheese & jalapeno bread, and cornbread are delicious. They make their own flour tortillas, you can buy them raw and make them on the stove at home. They make fresh tortilla chips. They have a delicious deli as well, they make really good sandwiches. They have amazing seafood salad. The fried chicken, potato wedges and wings are delicious. They have a taco bar which aren't authentic tacos, but delicious in their own way. Definitely recommend SaveMart over other grocery stores in town. read more

I'm not local so I can't say if this place is better or worse than others, but I have a few major issues with this place: 1. No handheld baskets - only carts (what?!) 2. This is the best grocery store I've ever been to. I felt like I was in a grocery store commercial because the store was so clean and the workers were so friendly. Plus their bakery is amazing and full of cakes in crazy shapes like princesses and the rest of their store has amazing selection they even have like 50 types of cheese.
