The surgeon was excellent- Dr. Thom. One thing that also helped is we had prepared prior to the surgery by buying the appropriate equipment (wheelchair, toilet bars for support in getting up, etc). So we were able to follow the doctors orders exaxtly with regards to non weight bearing. Following all of the doctors instructions to the t, being prepared, choosing the right surgeon, will all combine for a positive outcome. read more

I had an appointment scheduled for July 7th at 8:30 am to go over MRI results with Dr. Baig. I had this scheduled for roughly a month or two. I requested PTO from work to make this appointment, and had my PTO scheduled for 3 weeks, since my company requires two weeks before time is off. Ortho is roughly 25 minutes away from my house, so I left at 7:35am, assuming there'd be traffic. As I'm sitting in my car, waiting to go in, I got the attached text message at 7:57am, 33 minutes before my appointment, that it was cancelled. I was instantly annoyed. I understand doctors can miss work, but seriously, a text instead of a call? "Sorry for any inconvenience". Okay thanks, that makes it better. I received the call to reschedule at 8:44am. Sorry to that lady because she caught the brunt of my anger, but the "good morning, how are you?!" retriggered my annoyance. To be fair, I didn't give her a chance to say any type of apology, but sternly informed her about how incovenient it was to schedule PTO and to have the appointment cancelled 30 MINUTES before! If I were to call and cancel 30 minutes before, I'm sure there'd be some sort of cancellation fee. To finish it off, she then asked if I could reschedule for tomorrow. Ummm....no. I couldn't get PTO that quick (see sentence about 2 week requirement). I slightly snapped at her about how I already wasted 4 hours of PTO and I'm not going to waste another 4 hours tomorrow, so what I want is for them to send me my results and I'll take them somewhere else to go over. Yes, this is very Karen of me, but the tone and dismissive nature of everything, including the generic auto-text, just really pissed me off. read more

Dr Baig This was one of the worst medical experiences I've ever had. I came to this doctor with serious symptoms affecting my entire body, including burning, swelling, and pain in both the front and back of my legs, all of which began directly after a chiropractic adjustment. Despite this, he only assessed one small area of my spine, completely ignoring the rest of my symptoms. It was careless and frankly ridiculous. He showed no curiosity, no compassion, and no urgency. I had to ask him to review my MRI with me -- something that should have been done automatically. He dismissed the radiology report outright, claimed there was "nothing wrong," and insisted there was "no nerve root compression," even though the report said otherwise. He then ordered X-rays for some reason, despite already having my MRI in hand. There was no neurological or muscular testing, no treatment plan offered, no discussion of medications, and zero guidance about what I should do next. I had to make suggestions myself, which he scoffed at. He didn't listen, didn't help, and clearly didn't care. I left that appointment with no answers, no support, and no hope. This doctor was completely unhelpful and dismissive at a time when I needed real care. If you're in pain and looking for someone to take you seriously, I strongly suggest you look elsewhere. read more

Today (Saturday) I checked online and saw they were open until 4:00PM. I drove into the Riverside facility from Roscoe and arrived at 2:35. There was not anyone in the waiting area but I was told they could not see me. I think this is very bad business when their hours state they are open to 4:00. I was there just shy of 1 1/2 hours before closing. Obviously they should state when they will last see a walk in in their website! read more

Orthoillinois, no way. Everytime you go there they want to do surgery whether you want to or not. They actually had signed me up for surgery & I didn't know it nor wanted it. This happened with my back and also with my foot, 2 different Drs. I had a neighbor who was going there, one time she just couldn't get there, she called to tell them & they wouldn't let her come back, so you can not miss an appt. And as Jackie G. said, forget a Rheumatologist. I don't think they actually have one. I lost count of the times I called wanting to see one. Several times I called and went through so many people on the phone and I finally got an appt. with a Rheumatologist. They had me run around to get all my X-rays and MRI's, etc. I went to the appt. to be told the DR. I was suppose to see was retiring and didn't want any new patients. THAT was unbelievable! I wouldn't tell my worst enemy to go there. read more

I fell on 10/11/20 and went to Ortho Illionos on 10/13/20 with a hamstring strain. Was told I needed X-rays on my back and after completing the X-rays, Dr Borchardt came in to ask "what is wrong with your back". I said nothing and explained I fell and after he poked my back leg said"oh that is your hamstring" NO SHIT!. He said I would need an MRI to see the degree of the strain and would have to get approved through insurance. Insurance denied and have been waiting for him to call to do a peer to peer review. Today is 10/25/20 and he still has not made the call. I bruised from my very upper thigh, inner thigh to below my knee. I wake at night in pain and feel like I am sitting on a tennis ball. I wonder what will put the fire in his ass to call my insurance company to get this approved. read more

But I feel strongly that it would be beneficial for the clinic to provide classes and much more information for patients so that we will know what to expect. Patients in the Chicago area have pre-surgery classes, and so they are well-informed. We need that here in Rockford. read more

OrthoIllinois in itself is a beautiful facility. However, the experience I'm rating is in regards to Dr. Todd Alexander. I was told he is a good doctor. From personal experience, I would have to disagree. Supposedly, he's a great surgeon, but I will never know firsthand. He was not at all personable. I found him to be so unpleasant and unfriendly during my appointment that I switched to a different doctor. He acted irritated and annoyed with my presence. He didn't explain the surgery procedure, bringing me zero comfort in my options. He basically told me to do whatever I wanted in terms of my herniated disc, which wasn't at all reassuring. I left with more questions and concerns than I went in with. The entire experience with him made me feel very deflated and hopeless. Disappointing! read more

Absolutely the best orthopedic physicians in the state. I had carpal tunnel surgery here and that went fantastic almost immediate relief of all my pain. After 9 months now I'm feeling better than I had in years. I'm now seeing a rheumatologist and being treated for four. Previously with a different organization my gout went untreated and I continued to have problems. Dr Goodman has me in track after two months with no continued flare ups. I absolutely love this organization, they treat you with respect and show that they care about your well being. A++++ read more

My husband originally went to get help with his knee pain. He has seen a total of three of their doctors in a 8 month period. He has received physical therapy, steroid shots and a gel shot to both knees. None of which gave him any relief. He is now told since none of these treatments have worked there was nothing more they could do but refer him to the rheumatologist. Dr. Antonacci was extremely rude and dismissive after being informed that the gel shots had not made a difference in the level of pain or functioning. We would absolutely not recommend Othrollinois to anyone as they appear more interested in passing their patients around to different doctors than actually trying to resolve the presenting issue. read more

When your chronic pain and blood tests have said something is wrong; and your pcp says you need to get into a rheumatologist you shouldn't have to have such a hard time getting an f****** appointment!!! I took my teen grandson to this clinic after he suffered an injury in a hockey game. He was seen by Maximilian Button, APN,FNP-BC. He was extremely knowledgable, spoke directly to my grandson and explained the injury, treatment options and precautions. He answered questions throughly and was not in a rush to complete our visit. I would highly recommend this clinic for any athletic injury. read more

I have had major back and hip pain for years. I have had steroid injections in my back - did not relieve the pain so was told they could not do anything more for me except send me to "Pain Management". I recently saw Dr. Barba for the hip problem for which he had previously on two occasions injected that hip with steroids which usually relieves the pain for approximately a year or so. This visit they x-rayed the hip, Dr. Barba looked at the x-rays and said he could not see any problem and informed me in a very rude tone that he could not do anything for me. Dr. Barba had always had a very pleasant bedside manner - this time he was cold, very short and rude. I will NEVER return to this facility for any reason. They just seem to pass you from one Dr. to another with no resolution to the patients pain. Me thinks I will go to UW Madison where they have physicians who give a damn about their patients.
