He provided suggestions and made several adjustments to perfectly aligned with my vision. The shop was clean and organized with a very welcoming atmosphere. I really thought about giving Ink Couture three stars. I did, honestly. My 4:00 appointment didn't begin until 6, and Geo didn't start tattooing until 8, and we weren't done until 1:15 AM. But I think that commitment to customer service is what cemented the 5 stars. I can't speak much for the front desk staff. They were alright. They did their jobs. Geo told me that his 1PM consultation ended up taking like 4-5 hours because she was a 1st timer who couldn't decide on the design, size, and placement, so what was supposed to be a two hour block ended up taking four hours. Geo apologized profusely and also apologized for his assistant not reaching out to me and asking me to send photo references. But that's okay, because Geo and I spent two hours perfecting the design of the bird of paradise flower, and it really felt like a personal, unique creation. Also, he didn't believe me that it was a real flower! I'm glad someone got to learn about this flower, it's my favorite. Tattooing was comfortable. As comfortable a tattoo can get, anyway. Geo's setup was clean and spotless, and took great care to make sure he had all the tools he needed. He even got me a sprite and a water and let me have control of his Spotify. We bonded over Xennial (Millennial/Gen X) culture like punk, pop punk, emo, etc, cracked jokes, and taught him new random facts (like a group of ravens is called an unkindness) Geo was 110% super excited to work on my piece and took his time and full attention to it. He explained his process as he worked, and his reasoning for using certain methods. He talked about his career tattooing, all of it fascinating, and I think he appreciated having a client who listened, lol. My piece ended up better than I could have imagined, with bold, black lines and vibrant watercolor shading. Geo's someone I wouldn't hesitate visiting again for another tattoo, and he's someone I'll recommend to anyone. Thank you, Geo and the folks at Ink Couture for a great experience. read more

My wife came here and saw Gio for a neck piece and he absolutely FAILED in every way possible. My wife had to walk around with a hideous tattoo on her neck for weeks and was told by the owner that they would "fix it". I mean, yeah, I would hope so. What shop owner wants their shop being attached to scribbles on someone's neck? When my wife expressed her concern with the tattoo and the progress, to Gio he excused his shit work with saying he's used to tattooing "San Antonio necks" (?) Huh? I literally cannot make this up y'all. He was also at least 30 minutes late to every session they had. Their first session, he started tattooing her 2.5 hours after their scheduled time. Anyways, weeks later, she had a consult with Lex, who had a complete attitude the entire time and seemed very annoyed that he had to be fixing someone else's problem. Like - I wish we weren't here either, buddy. After that, She decided to go elsewhere and ACTUALLY get it fixed. This was a MASSIVE F$%k up and I have photos to prove it. I wouldn't come here even if they were giving away free tattoos. The unprofessionalism from everyone at that shop was so bad and SO consistent. Every which way, it was a shit show. How they won tattoo shop of the year is truly baffling. The one positive is that they did refund her the money she had already paid for the scribbles Gio was able to conjure up. YAY! Doesn't negate the fact that those scribbles are now on her forever. I wish I was exaggerating. *Updated 1/14/23* I visited this location on 12/23/22. I came in to talk with an artist about bringing my Ayahuasca experience in the Amazon to life through artistry/tattoo. I met with an experienced artist for maybe 20-30 minutes. I shared my experience/ideas/pictures. I was hopeful he would be able to come up with some ideas to represent the experience. I paid a $100 deposit for the artist to do that- come up with an idea for a tattoo. Honestly, I left feeling very unsure but hopeful. Tattooing can be more than copying an image from the internet- it can truly be a work of art. I was contacted 6 days later via text. An image/idea was shared with me. It looked as though very little time/effort/artistry was put forth for my $100. I expressed not being fond of the idea and that I would shop around other places. I did not receive a response- no attempt to try another idea or keep a customer who is intending to get a sleeve. Lost $100- but didn't leave with my skin plagued by a tattoo lacking creativity/artistry. See his idea (pic) below. Save your money if you are actually looking for a real art piece. *Update* I was contacted by the CEO after posting my review. Paul expressed concern for the mishandling of this situation by his employee. He was kind and understanding. He spoke of his conversation with said employee and how it could have been better handled. He also reported back to me a few days later after having an employee meeting too. I was given a refund as well. I appreciate a business who takes these matters seriously and remedies the issue. I must say I am particular when it comes to infection protocols and not settling on what I want. After extensive research I found this tattoo shop and my preferred artist, Lex. His artwork on social media is insane. Before my consultation I emailed the place to ask questions about infection prevention and gage customer service. I appreciate that they take all precautions in infection control hence the higher price. The shop including the bathroom is clean and has a cool vibe. The individuals at the front were courteous and professional. Lex did an amazing job with my tattoo. He is very knowledgeable and has laid back demeanor. He has the lightest touch with his needles. I compare it to having blood work done. Lex, is the person that you would want extracting your blood each time versus the person you have to complain about to management or never want to interact with again. I'm never one to write reviews on places I go, but I'm that girl that is always reading everyone else's reviews to see if its worth my time. So I have decided to write my first review for the next tattoo virgin out there. Soo like all virgins when it's your first time at anything, you get nervous with anticipation because everyone is different. So last week I walked into the shop a little nervous about talking about what I wanted. I was helped right away by A.One and explained what I wanted and set up an appointment. Today I walked in with a certain anticipation that it was gone to hurt like hell because some of my tattoo was on my hand. Well Im here to say out of a 10 it was like a 4 when doing the lines and a 6 with the shading. He is light handed I'm guessing (first tattoo remember) but he made me feel comfortable with his experience and great conversation. That being said I'm in love with my tattoo and have already gotten a lot of compliments. I will be back to finish the rest of my arm. I guess I found a new hobby. In short, if you have a very important piece that you want to come out absolutely amazing and you aren't sure who you want to trust with it, GEO is without a doubt, your guy. I decided it was time to start a a sleeve I've been wanting for over 10 years. I tend to do a ton of research and compare a bunch of different components when choosing something. I started by looking a different shops. Before Ink Couture was named San Antonio's Best Tattoo Shop by SA Current, I already decided this is where I wanted my work done. The Shaenfield shop is very clean and well kept. They do not reuse any supplies and are 100% disposable on all their supplies. This is something very important to me when the risk of infection is a concern. They are also a no bullsh*t shop. I came across low rated reviews and after reading it, they were able to provide rationals on why the reviews may be misleading so I ignored those reviews. Their website is also very well organized and answers most any question you can have which was very helpful for me considering this was my first tattoo. On to Geo. Wanting a full sleeve, I knew I was going to spend a lot of time with my artist. On top of that, I was going to be spending a good amount of money and it was going to be on me forever. So quality of work and someone I was going to sit with for hours were important components for me as well. Not only is Geo one of the nicest, most considerate, accommodating, and easy to talk to person I've spent time with, but he is also very talented. He is talented in his artwork as well as his creativity in creating art. My first encounter with Geo was a walk in consult about what I wanted. After standing and talking to me for about 30 seconds, when he realized it was a little more complex of a tattoo idea, he invited me to sit to talk about it. I felt I had his full attention and that he really cared about what I wanted. That is something I wanted in an artist because it is a very important piece for me so to get that attention from him definitely won points for me. He had an appointment to work on so he told me his assistant would reach out to me shortly to schedule a longer consultation so we could really talk about it in depth. His assistant sent a text to me in less than 10 minutes from talking to Geo and was so responsive and helpful with any questions and nerves I had with my first tattoo. Both Geo and his assistant have been better than I could've asked for throughout this whole process. I had multiple sessions since September and was able to get my full sleeve done. It came out better than I imagined it in my head. Geo was more than willing to collaborate with me on my ideas and very quickly understood the vision I had in my head even though I had a hard time really expressing what I wanted. He valued my input in every aspect of the tattoo and was always respectful and worked with what I want. He did not ever get lazy and settle on a design just because I couldn't exactly describe what I wanted. He made sure what we decided on was 100% something that I wanted and not just because I said okay. I was very comfortable voicing my opinion and even changing my mind on designs before it was tattooed. It was very important to me to have someone I felt comfortable sharing my opinion with and he was very patient to explain why or why something would not work as a tattoo. I could not have chosen a better artist for this whole process and could not have been happier with the outcome of my sleeve. 10/10 would recommend Geo for any tattoo. read more

Owner and wife were extremely rude and when I relayed a message a friend was saying, they proceeded to attack me and post a picture of me and my 4 year old child on his personal Facebook page and call me racists when I'm the same race as him?? I think they were just trying to make an excuse for the bad review (which had nothing to do with race) I will always and forever tell people to avoid this place like the plague.
