Excellent spot in the downtown area. Our group of five utilized the street parking and were immediately seated upon entering. The environment was welcoming. It reminds me of a well decorated diner, with a Peruvian flair. Once seated, we were given corn nuts with a spicy cilantro dipping sauce. We ended up getting an extra sauce because we wanted it with our meal. So delicious! We ordered two appetizers! The anticucho was exceptional. Two Peruvian friends both told us to order this. I had to show the before and after photos of my lunch to express how tasty it was. Frijol con seco is the first thing on the Traditional part of the menu. The only previous Peruvian food I had had was roasted chicken at another place so wanted to branch out. The meat and carrots were very tender and the rice topped with marinated onions was fantastic. Had a birthday lunch today at this authentic Peruvian restaurant. The decor is very inviting and the service was excellent. The empanadas were delicious and were my wife's favorite dish. They were baked and filled with chicken, beef and hard boiled eggs. They were finished with some icing sugar, which was interesting, but still very savory. Kids had the lomo saltado, which is a traditional dish. My wife had the arroz con mariscos, which is a paella type dish with seafood and criolla sauce. I had the pescado a lo macho, which had grilled fish and seafood in a creamy sauce. Everything was fresh, well seasoned and cooked perfectly. I had a beef dish that would make you wonder if your Peruvian grandmother whipped it up in her home kitchen. It was a lovely, flavorful braise, soft and unctuous. My dining companion had a mixed seafood plate, that was also yum. Started off with a shot of pisco, which I've never had before. It was a great experience.
