Customer service: 5 stars: came in 8/13/22 a hour before close. Everyone was warm and friendly. Cleanliness: 4 stars: really tidy for the most part besides customers not doing a decent job cleaning up behind theirselves. Seating: 5 stars: lots of seating and seating outside. Price point: 4 stars: I think it's fair for what I ordered. The more elaborate the higher the prices get. Food/taste: 5 stars: this place is better than the shake shack in Atlanta as well as the sugar factory in Atlanta and Orlando. Overall: I would come back if I was in the area. The staff is warm and friendly, clean facility including the restrooms, and they serve great products. They do use blue bell icecream and I love blue bell. This place would be amazing for a birthday party or instead of doing cake and icecream for a party make a reservation and come here. I would!!! Our socks were knocked off. This was a great way to finish up a long day at Appomattox Court House (30-35 minutes away) Great job guys! You are amazing!

My friends recommended this establishment to me as a place where we could go drink one of a kind milkshakes and the thought intrigued me. An ice cream place in Lynchburg that specialized in unique dairy content? Count me in! We visited and one of the first things that you notice is how large this establishment is. The front counter and area where they make their shakes is enormous and the seating area is large enough to seat a solid 20 people. It has more than enough space as well as a back area for staff and cleaning supplies. Heck there's an area with a full two sinks to wash off your mason jars later (will revsit this topic). The decor is a weird mashup of new age suburban houses, fully equipped with cream colors and metal/granite colored surfaces, with a homestyle ice cream bar. The business is so large the front door is not even in the same area as the ice cream order station. One of the first things you notice off of the menu is the prices. Never in my life did I expect to be dropping on the upwards of $15 for a milkshake. To put this in perspective, the price of a bowl of ramen from the Japanese establishment Ippudo in NYC is around $15. A full meal with fries and a drink at King's Dominion is $15. A price of a milkshake from Chick Fil A is roughly $4-5 dollars so it left me wondering what could be so special about this particular milkshake. I was hoping for that moment in Pulp Fiction where the man orders a $5 milkshake (which would be about $10 in today's money). The Pulp Fiction moment never came. We ordered an extensive spread off of the menu. I got a cookie and chocolate shake and my friends got a strawberry cheesecake shake, salted caramel shake, and a smores option. After sampling virtually everything we ordered, I can honestly say that despite the pomp and circumstance of every product we ordered, nothing we received came close to the price tag of $15. Every shake comes with a specialized rim, some unique toppings like half a chocolate bar or in some cases an entire cheesecake, whipped cream, more icing, and the ice cream inside the mason jar is mixed with a number of toppings to culminate in a dense thick experience that requires the bubble tea straws they serve there. And after sampling what I bought, I can honestly say that icing has no place in ice cream. If a place is marketed as a milkshake bar, I would expect a place that relies on the simplicity of its ingredients and the quality thereof. It would not be further from the truth. This establishment's milkshakes would be akin to a cake with a pound of beautiful icing on top of a twinkie. For this price point I expected something to not only look delicious but to taste delicious too but some of these creations are so brimming with decorations its more of a hassle to eat than it should be. At the end of the day, its a very decorated blue bell ice cream milkshake. One would expect that the ice cream itself would be sourced from a local creamery or whatnot for this price point but sadly this is not the case. They hide behind the idea that you get to take home the mason jar its served in but the sinks that you can wash off your sticky jars with have no soap and you would be wrong if I would be fooled into buying another shake simply for more glassware in my kitchen. The price you pay here is simply for the instagram photo that will inevitably get likes and nothing more. Spectacle and pizzazz but nothing more. Like a poorly made firework, loud, expensive, and quickly forgotten. Food should be, nay, food is art. But food is also at the end of the day, food and is meant to be eaten. How many bells and whistles must be added to the humble milkshake before its no longer its namesake? Because when drinking (or attempting to do so), there was so little of the fresh taste of milk or ice cream and so much icing I would struggle to call this a milkshake at all. At the end of the day Crazy Mason Milkshake Bar does live up to its namesake because this experience induced psychosis.

This location of The Crazy Mason is consistent with other franchises, which means great food and service. This location has changed ownership recently, and the new owner was in the store when I visited. The shakes are great, with huge variety and customization. The pricing is high as each specialty shake is currently around $16, but that price includes the take-home jar and shake that is unmatched.

I was so excited to see that Lynchburg has a crazy mason's now! I've been to the Myrtle Beach locations multiple times and I think this one is even better :) plus it's not in a bowling alley haha I love that they offer Lynchburg and Liberty exclusive jars in addition to the normal and seasonal jars. Each milkshake is a work of art, fully decorated and perfect for taking photos with! They all have fun toppings and colorful icing. There are many different types to choose from. It's well worth the price in my opinion. Plus you can repurpose the jars at home. I like to use mine for flowers, jewelry, hair accessories, and makeup brushes. Desserts came out quick considering how busy they were. You can clean off the jars and put them in bags when you are done eating. This is very nice so you don't get anything on your car. The African American male (didn't catch his name) working the cash register and cleaning the tables was very friendly! Will definitely be back!

This place is delicious and will definitely take care of your sweet tooth! My boyfriend and I shared the Cookie Mashup shake and it was beyond expectations, I personally couldn't have finished it myself, so definitely perfect for sharing. The service was also great, the employees were nice and helpful being it was our first time! The shop was super clean as well, including the bathrooms. Very well kept and maintained store! Also, there's a rinse station to clean off your mug so that you can keep it!

We went on opening day. The line was long but well worth it even with 3 little ones sick of the line and ready for ice cream. We got the Cookie Dreams, Sweet Cheesus, Mint To Be, & Cookie Mashup. We all say 10/10! Definitely a once in a while treat/special occasion with the prices for the mason treats but they taste amazing! Love that we get to keep the cute designed masons. The staff was wonderful, super friendly, & working very hard. Though we didn't try anything else beyond the masons, we are also excited that there are smaller desserts on the menu at smaller prices as well. So who knows, maybe we will be back before we know it to try those.

By far the best milkshake place I have been too! I got the Salty but Sweet and it was drop dead amazing. Although the price is a little steep it is 100% worth it. The mason jars and mural make the place so welcoming and the staff are so friendly! We stopped by at a slow time but they plumbing was out which caused a slight stink, they quickly apologized, and quickly accommodated by moving everyone outside with tables! I would 100% come back again if I didn't live 5+ hours away! Thankyou to the employees for making my day a little more sweet!

    But first coffee

A must-visit in Lynchburg/Forest! I haven't had anything like this since I lived in NYC, so having a creative, over the top dessert place here was something I was so excited for. I've been here a few times, and my favorite flavor is the "but first coffee". It comes topped with a delicious warmed donut that by itself would've been worth coming out for. I'd compare it to Krispy Kreme. Yes, the prices are steep, but that's only for the mason jar milkshakes that come with a collectible mason jar that you can clean out and take home with you! There are cleaning stations in the back that make this way easier than you'd think. For repeat customers who already have plenty of collectible jars, you can opt for just the ice cream in a cup. There are so many flavors that I believe are also rotating flavors, so you can try something new every time you come in! Truly the serving sizes are impressive, so I really vibe with the mindset they have of being a place "where calories don't count!" It's a great once in a while place to go to pig out and enjoy something incredibly delicious!

1000/10 great staff , environment, and ice cream like no other!! Only complaint is there were so many amazing flavors I couldn't choose!!! Will be back for my next ice cream fix!!

Expensive but a fun experience. My husband and I split one for an after dinner treat and had fun. Great service, Would return!

Oh my mason jar :-). I was told we need to visit this place asap. It's not cheap, but you get so much ice cream and treats it's hard to finish ! The ice cream is top notch, they use the real deal candy (not knock off brands) and they have fun creating monster deserts.

Very fun novelty type of place. Friendly and helpful staff. Cute place to hang out and have a treat. Presentation of desserts are on point. Dining space and sink areas are a little messy but cute overall.

Unbelievable selection. Very friendly staff. You can tell when there's a line out the door that this place would be special. Definitely worth the wait. Great variety

First of all, please let me apologize for the pics of the half-eaten Cookiewich. I am usually so…read moregood about taking the pre-eating pic for my review, but I sort of got...overly excited to dive in. Let me explain. We were eating dinner with the family at Mi Patron (across the parking lot) and my wife showed me a video of this Cookiewich thing at the food truck in the same parking lot. It being made, it being eaten, etc. I had to do it. I did. It was SOOOOO worth it, and was literally a Magical Ice Cream Experience. I just made up that term, but it works. I LOVED it, and almost stopped here again during my quick three-day trip to Lynchburg. I still regret NOT stopping by again, and sometimes have dreams about it while back in Colorado. But, that is neither here nor there. Anyway, you need to get yourself one of these awesomeness-in-an-ice-cream-treat things. In addition to the actual ice cream being awesome, they have the ring game (so you can entertain yourself while stuffing your face like I did), AND the value of what you pay and what you get is...sort of absurd in this day and age. It was $4.75, I believe and that is insane. Go and get it before they raise the price. I would have paid like $12 for that thing. I highly recommend making the dessert stop at this place when in the area, and see you there (no, seriously, the next time I am in Lynchburg, I am beelining it there)...

Delicious ice cream and love the area to hang out. Love a swirl cone or a shaker. Love the gazebo…read moreand tables to sit at
