I'd heard great things about Inman Perk and I was so excited to give this coffee shop a try while in the area for dinner. When my pre-dinner plans to sip Intellentsia lattes fell through, I decided to make my friends stop in with me after dinner. We only have 45 minutes until closing, so we rushed in to grab something and sit for a bit. We took a little time picking drinks that wouldn't keep us up all night. I ended up with a nice hot chai tea latte and my friend ordered a hot tea. Drinks are surprisingly affordable. I hate when I pay $4 for a small latte. And they take the Levelup app! I believe there is currently a Scoutmob coupon for a free coffee, too. Just wanna say that I understand, Friday nights is turn up night after a long week of work. But you don't need to yell into the mellow coffee shop every 15 minutes that you're closing soon. At 30 minutes in, the baristas were noisily stacking chairs and moving tables around, getting ready to close up shop. It was pretty obnoxious and rude. I usually see baristas working the long hour after closing to considerately clean up shop. I've never seen a worse team of baristas, not even at franchises like Starbucks. It was not a comfortable feeling to be shooed out of a coffee shop in that manner. Mic drop. I had a sip of my friend's free Intellegentsia coffee and while she wasn't a fan of the bitter hit, I thought it was delicious. Definitely better than my Chai Tea Latte. My friend tasted it before I told her what it was and she thought it was a Pumpkin Spice Latte. The Chai was very weak and overpowered by the milk. While it was a great for a smooth and warm night cap, it was not really what I asked for. And with them calling out their closing time, I decided not to ask for another. I'm going to have to echo most of these reviews. I live across the street and avoid going here at all costs. The first and foremost reason is the staff. Always rude, always cold. Even when yelling out your order to let you know that it's ready; somehow that is rude too. In addition to that - coffee is not good (I would rather go to Starbucks at this point and I abhor Starbucks), food is sub par and the coffee is expensive compared to surrounding places. The only thing keeping this place afloat is the location and I can't justify that. Also as someone who lives across the street they are routinely not open at the time posted as their opening. I have found myself and others on more than one occasion standing outside locked doors that are supposed to be open. I understand staffing has been short, but I have not experienced this anywhere else in the midst of the last two years. read more

Really enjoyed the atmosphere. I got a black coffee to go with my cigarette and it paired like a Cabernet Savignon with a beautiful Salmon filet. I was meeting friends for lunch and they were super late, so because I was close, I walked a half a mile and found Inman Perk waiting for me, so I headed on in for a light snack. It was an added bonus that Inman Perk had a 100% off scoutmob deal for a free medium coffee or tea. I did get a medium Jasmine hot tea (free) as well as a slice of their spinach and garlic quiche (about $5) The quiche was nice and creamy, and you could see the spinach pieces all throughout the slice. I didn't taste much garlic if i'm being honest though. For those who are on a time crunch, just know that they need 7 minutes to warm up the quiche. The jasmine tea didn't have a very strong flavor of Jasmine, but wasn't a bad cup, especially with it being free. I may have been a little disgruntled with it if it weren't free though. The inman perk interior was nice and spacious, and they did have a smaller bar along the wall closest to their restrooms. Located on N. Highland Ave, I wish I paid attention to parking at Inman Perk, but considering I walked here, I didn't notice. This area is pretty slammed with traffic most days i'm here though, so parking may take some effort. At the end of the day, Inman Perk gets the job done if you want a cup of caffeine. Customer service is nice, they're yelp/scoutmob friendly, and if I lived close, I might pay them a visit more frequently than once in a blue moon. read more

Nice local spot that is comfy and looks to be a great place to study, write your future novel, or post to your food blog. I like the vibe this cozy coffee shop gives off. I suspect the customer service leaves something to be desired because of how busy they are. The cashier took my order and made my coffee. There is only one cashier so while he's making my coffee, there's a line building. I can't speak on the Wi-Fi because I didn't use it but there were a lot of individuals on their laptops who looked to be having no issue with connectivity. I ordered a bagel with cream cheese and a caramel macchiato at the recommendation of the cashier. It was perfectly done, just sweet enough, and he decorated it with cobwebs. My only point of contention is that it was in a Styrofoam cup and not a mug. I didn't have a to go order so wasn't sure why it wasn't in a mug. The bagel was toasted and as bagels go, nothing to complain or praise. They don't seem to have a variety, it was just a plain bagel and Philadelphia cream cheese. I ate it because I was hungry and didn't feel adventurous enough to try anything else on their menu outside of coffee. Will I return? Probably. Inman Perk is a great coffee shop with a cozy neighborhood feel. I live in the area so I often come here to get work done or read. The baristas have always been kind and un-pretentious, and I've never had trouble finding a space to sit or an outlet to plug in my laptop. Reliable wifi too. I typically get just plain coffee (consistently good), but occasionally splurge on a fancier drink. I have mixed feelings about this place. As a study place, it is awesome. There are outlets by many of the tables and many tables for people to spread out. Many people do work here so it's not super loud and obnoxious. Unfortunately, I'm really disappointed with the drinks and service here. I ended up getting a small peach smoothie because I was here at night time trying to get some studying in and didn't want to be consuming caffeine. It costed me $4 and was soo freaking sweet. I brought it back to ask if they could mix it with more ice. Both the barista at the counter just stared at me and said no without offering any sort of alternative solution. My friend was in town & we both woke up craving a really good coffee. I searched Yelp for some close suggestions and Inman Perk came up. It was close and looked cute, so we went for it. Parking was a little hard because we weren't familiar, but there is free parking in the garage of the apartment building the restaurant is underneath!! I really appreciated that. The vibe inside was cool & eclectic. There was people studying at the tables and customers enjoying their Sunday outside with their pups (the have cute lease holders installed outside) I thought it was neat that they had a small bar inside, I'd be interested in coming for a drink one day. I ordered a Caramel Iced Latte (my FAV) and the eggs Benedict sandwich. YUM is all I've got to say. This isn't any crazy, gourmet food- but it's the perfect egg sandwich you can't make yourself. The coffee hit the spot, it was exactly what I needed. I'm going to say this is one of the best coffees I've had in Atlanta. The only downside to the visit was the confusion on delivering food to the table or having to walk inside and get it. You're going to see me use the word serendipity in a lot of reviews. As a native Sri Lankan, I can actually claim legitimate rights to appropriate it (look it up) and this word is going be used in my review of Inman Perk. I visited Inman Perk back in the dim past when they were down the street and caddy-corner from Fritti in a cramped, kinda dirty space across from where Savi Urban market is now located. I was less than impressed and did not return for a very long time. In the intervening years, I went to Chicago for work and found Intelligentsia and became a bit of a coffee snob. Atlanta also discovered good coffee under the tutelage of Octane, Steady Hand and Land of Thousand Hills among others. Inman Perk moved to a hip new digs with cement floors and avocado green walls and excellent, speedy WiFi. They also put themselves right along my commute. Serendipity. So, when I'm rushing to work in a hurry and I need a caffeine shot and maybe a slice of savory quiche, I stop over at Inman Perk. The staff is friendly and the food is decent. On those days when I feel like working from somewhere other than the office, I also gravitate to the Perk. The WiFI is speedy and reliable enough for my VPN not to have any hiccups. That's cool. The music isn't too loud and the ambient noise is easily dispatched by my noise-canceling headset. I can take a conference call here without a problem. Also cool. If you are so inclined or need an alcoholic pick-me-up, they will happily serve you some decent brews including a selection of Terrapins and other microbrew selections. Don't quite want an upper in your coffee mug? Add a rum, vodka or Bailey's downer for just a little extra. Not recommended before serious conversations with senior management. There is parking on the street OR the garage behind the shop. Nice and shady in the Atlanta summer. The reason I've hesitated to review them is because, while I really wanted to give them 4-stars, the coffee just wasn't 4-stars for me. Up until today, I've not gotten any 'art' in my latte, unless they were part of the modernist movement. Also, I didn't like their coffee source. It was ok, but acidy and not smooth like the Intelligentsia espresso I get at Steady-Hand. Your mileage may vary. This is my opinion. As I mentioned in a quick tip, they recently switched to Intelligentsia which caused me much happiness. Still no art in my cup though and I can't give 3.5 stars. I was about to say to 'hell with it' and give them a 4 star rating anyway when I looked into my latte cup this afternoon and saw a feathery little fern hanging out in there sort of going 'whats up dude?' Inman Perk definitely has its fans, the joint is always packed whenever I've visited - and it's not a small space, this is probably one of the larger cafes in the area, there's tons of seating, but rarely (at least in the evenings) is there an open space. There's tons of people studying, reading, with at least 80% of patrons on their MacBooks. In addition to a huge selection of various coffee based drinks, there's a bar filled with a decent sized selection of beer and various liquor. There's also ice cream, various pastries, even smoothies. My favorite aspect of Inman Perk however is that that they have almond milk as a substitution option (for an extra $0.75 charge), I hate soy milk and regular milk doesn't agree with me - I really wish more cafes would provide this option. Obviously, I'm a fan of the selection, so why only the 'A-OK?' The fact that you usually have to get your items to go due to lack of seating has a very slight something to do with it, their less than lukewarm baristas moreso. Every question or comment is met with a tight smile and an eye roll always seems to be on horizon. Frustrating, to say the least - customer service makes all the difference in the world. read more

Definitely my comfort-zone coffee shop. I love it because I can count on it for everything. Drinks and food --------- The coffee drinks are good - they've started using Intelligentsia. Iced soy mocha is delicious. Almond milk is available. Nice variety of Mighty Leaf teas. AND there's beer and wine now. The panini (I've tried all of them) and quiche are pretty good. Breakfast sandwiches are a new addition. For sweets, there are local pastries (Bear Maker, Sweet Auburn) and ice cream (Jake's). There are also cakes, bagels, muffins, instant oatmeal, bananas, chips, yogurt. Atmosphere --------- Relaxed and kind of busy. A good amount of noise. Plenty of sunlight. Friendly people. Studying, chatting, reading, staring into space, people watching, work dates, play dates... Everything else --------- The free wi-fi doesn't need a password and never fails, ever -- which is kind of a big deal. Seating, parking, and laptop plugs are all usually fine but definitely get packed at peak hours. Service is generally nice and down to earth - this one guy is the absolute best, you'll know who I mean if you go regularly. There have been a couple instances of laptop theft in the past, so watch your stuff or ask someone nearby to keep an eye on it if you walk away. read more

I'm not a big coffee drinker but my friend lives literally three floors above it. Jake's ice cream was closed and someone in our group wanted ice cream but Inman Perk carries a few tubs. Hmm...I'll give it a shot even though the name is kind of semi-obvious. I had the turtle mocha, which definitely doesn't skimp on the coffee it was definitely strong but mixed with the chocolate well. I also tried the veggie focaccia which was okay but a little dry-it was near the end of the day though. Service wise they were pretty friendly at first but they spaced out a little at the end. There were two people at the counter but then mysteriously there was one. The one who was there packed the ice cream and then disappeared, it turned out that she couldn't find a top to it and asked if saran-wrap would be okay. The other one? I don't know. The vibe was quiet, one of the other reviews mentioned that it was nothing but laptops and typing. I was walking around commenting on one of the Twilight books and how lame I thought the series was and got the look of death. I was always of the idea that coffee shops were meant for conversation and catching up, things like that. The people here seemed like they were there to buy a cup of coffee, open up their laptops and work on their book of lame poetry. Ugh. read more

Inman Perk is the kind of coffee shop you could go and spend several hours at without realizing. The interior is so laid back and has a variety of styles of ways to sit. They have sofas pulled into corners, small two-seater tables, and long desks pulled down the center of the room, all with free wi-fi so you can sit and drink and work for as long as you like. There's also a small open-roofed patio with more places to sit for nice days. They have a long wall of books and magazines if you came without anything to read. If I didn't have internet at home, this is where I'd go probably every single day to do my work. They play mostly decent indie music at a low volume so you don't feel overrun by it, which actually makes it feel that much more chill. Their drinks are standard coffee-shop fare, well made and not too pricey. They have a nice pastry case with a slighty more varied selection: homemade cupcakes with crazy icing, big molasses cookies, etc, as well as a Maggie Moos ice cream freezer. The staff can, yes, be a bit aloof seeming, but it doesn't bother me so much. When you're being served by hipsters, it's usually better if they don't try to talk to you. read more

I love the location right on the Beltline. I love the ambience inside, and, especially in these times, I love the ample outdoor seating. It's one of my favorite places to work while having coffee. That being said, I'd like it even more if Octane or Hodgepodge or another local coffee chain were to buy this location. The coffee is good, but not great. The lunch menu is good, but not great. The pastries are good, but not great. The restrooms are... not even good. The toilet paper dispensers are falling off the wall and have been for years. The toilets frequently clog. One time I saw a disgusting dark residue under the rim that I scrubbed of myself (they fortunately provided a toilet brush) and I think I must have been the first person to clean the bathroom in weeks. How they pass their health inspections is a mystery to me. read more

Great, quick service. If it's true that being insane means you keep doing the same thing over and over with the expectation that the outcome will be different, then there's a good chance I'm insane. The place has a good variety of offerings and the concept is good but the execution is sub par. This time, I waited over 20 minutes (no exaggeration) for an Americano even though there was no line at the register. If you're unfamiliar with an Americano, it's just a shot of espresso and hot water. Additionally, it was slightly sour tasting. Once in a while the Dunkin Donuts down the street from my place tastes like this as well. Not sure what it is. Maybe someone who knows more about coffee can explain it. I really hope the management whips this place into shape because it's really convenient for me. I am starting to love the areas of Inman Park. This cafe is just sitting on such a splendid area that I love sitting outside on the patio and people-watch. I usually have my creepy eyes on the people dining outside of barcelona and the many people that are on a casual stroll with their families and dogs. The smallest cup for an iced drink is just the perfect size for me. It's about half the size of a starbucks tall cup and it's the right amount of beverage. Also, their cookies are just on fleek (I think that means awesome?). Do yourself a favor and get a cookie or two while you try to look for a seat inside this packed cafe.
