Easy walking to the downtown area, room was decent. We went and checked the rooms, per the reviews with bed bugs. No sign of them @ all, thankfully. Room is good size, has coffee maker and TV of course. No mini fridge, so get ice from the machine if you want a cold drink. Shower was clean except the mold on the bottom corner of curtain. My real problem was the cleaning crew started knocking @ my door @ 8 am. I went to the door and said check out is not until 11am. She said yes, and I go you can come back then. I have NEVER had this happen! This did not make me thrilled. However it is what it is. Side note. If you are a pokemon go player, you can reach 3 stops to spin. Have access to lots of remote raids too.

Bread on the floor in pool area

I hate leaving bad reviews but I can't let this go unknown. This hotel is a pig stye. The pool area is dirty, with food on the floor (see below). There's no towels at the pool. As far as the rooms go, they're in need for a remodel. TV doesn't work, beds are uncomfortable, and the over all area is just horrid. It's great for conferences, I will say that. Otherwise, it's a waste of money to stay here. Especially having to pay $11 just to park. Edit: We couldn't even stay there. Checked out early and drove to another hotel. Proceed with caution staying here.

Pet friendly hotel :)

I had a family emergency and ended up in Springfield late at night with my husband and our pup. This hotel is located conveniently near HSHS St. John's hospital where a family member was being treated. The hotel is pet friendly ($50 pet deposit) and is relatively nice/clean. The rooms were not very updated but they were spacious and had everything we could need for our stay. I also appreciated having a Starbucks with plenty of lounge space attached to the hotel, as well as on-site hotel parking. My family was able to meet up at the hotel and spend time in the lounge spaces since hospital admission for visitors was limited. If I were back in Springfield I would definitely consider staying again.

Night view of state Capitol ... breathtaking

We paid for a Junior King suite for $170 per night ($384 with taxes) for two nights... feb 14-16... and it wasn't worth it at all... First ... Room 2618 reeked of cigarette smoke... GROSS It has a beautiful view though....that I can say is the only good thing about our stay I expected the bathroom, at least to have dual sink... nope, it had the smallest bathroom ... so disappointing. The sliding door doesn't slide correctly and I got stuck inside trying to slide the door. I had to call my BF who was sleeping to help me. Ugh It has a nice little sitting areas which I appreciate. However, if u ask me? Would I prefer a sitting area than a bigger spacious modern bathroom? Uh duh... a dual sink with wider newer bath tub, for sure .... I wonder how the regular rooms look like??? Must be depressing, no view, and even smaller smh Second ....I had to request for a fridge...lol Crowne plaza where we stayed for 3 years in a row, their regular rooms had a fridge Third ... you can have continental breakfast here--- iits not free and it was just Mehhh I would advise anyone to go across the street to President Abraham Lincoln hotel... I think the name of the restaurant is Lindsey...they have a better continental breakfast-- more options. We tried Lindsey Saturday morning and we tried The Grille Sunday morning So we were able to compare both. Lindsey is brighter, more Sun is coming thru and the ambiance is more accommodating and had just better choices Third..... What bothered me so much... is Saturday night round 7pm, we were headed to Bank of Springfield for our daughters competition... my bf Ben had to go pee. When he came out from the lobby's men's restroom, he was clearly upset....he told me that the security guard went inside that restroom ... While he was peeing.. the security guy asked my BF if he had a room in the hotel. What the hell??? You can't wait to ask AFTER he peed??? Racially profiling my BF. I mean who does that???? Why??? Because my BF is black? I'm sure they won't even ask a homeless Caucasian man that question while they're peeing. OUTRAGEOUS !!!! My BF told him our room number but dammit.... shame on you security man.... shame on YOU. We had a very mild experience of this profiling when we went to the penthouse steakhouse ( read my review ) Anyways I don't think We will stay here EVER ... super overpriced... like if you see where my BF and I wine and dine... money is not even a question But you treat us different? You don't treat us fairly....That's another story... that's a wrap.... Goodbye Wyndham forever ....

Great location walking distance to Lincoln sites. Tallest building in the city with unique circular design. Friendly staff. Air conditioning is extremely loud. Hallway very warm.

the bed bug that was crawling on my sheets

I normally don't write reviews, but needed to share my experience. Firstly, the room they gave us smelled so strongly of cigarette smoke we asked to switch to another one. Second, I woke up with a BED BUG crawling in my sheets. I normally check the mattress/sheets and behind the bed board when we check into any hotel, and surprisingly found nothing at our stay here. Sadly, woke up to a confirmed bed bug. Staff were not helpful, I had to wait for 3 hrs for someone from maintenance to come up and confirm that it was a bed bug. I also had to wrap all my belongings in trash bags and change out of my clothes to ensure I don't bring any home. Overall disappointed, and they never reimbursed me for anything. Not even the parking we had to pay for!

While staying in Springfield, Illinois, where Abraham Lincoln built much of his life and career, we…read morestayed at the President Abraham Lincoln Springfield - a DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel in downtown Springfield. This hotel has a very unique feel, especially on a weekday. On a Monday night, it wasn't filled with tourists, but instead felt like an extension of the Illinois State Capitol, with people throughout the hotel clearly engaged in business and legislative conversations. It gives the place a distinct working atmosphere that fits perfectly with its location. The hotel has a somewhat old-fashioned feel, which actually works well given the Abraham Lincoln connection and the historic character of Springfield. It doesn't try to be modern or trendy, but instead feels consistent with the setting. The room itself was clean and functional, with a slightly dated but well-maintained feel. The bed was comfortable, and the room included useful features like a mini fridge, a solid coffee setup, and plenty of charging options at both the desk and bedside. There's also a small table with two chairs that works well for either a quick meal or getting some work done. The bathroom was straightforward and clean, with a tub/shower combination and everything in good condition. Nothing fancy, but everything you need. One of the biggest advantages here is convenience. The hotel has on-site dining options, including a dinner restaurant and a breakfast spot. We did not try the breakfast buffet, which was offered at around $20 per person, but it appeared well set up. Parking is handled through a city-run garage attached to the building, and at about $7 for 24 hours, it's a great value. The front desk staff was excellent. Check-in and check-out were both smooth, and they even offer contactless check-in through their app, though we chose the traditional key card route. You do need a key card to access the elevator, which adds a layer of security. And of course, the DoubleTree cookies were flowing, which is always a nice touch. We were also able to leave our luggage at the hotel while we went out to visit several Abraham Lincoln sites around Springfield, which added even more convenience to the stay. Overall, the hotel is clean, well-run, and extremely well located. If you are visiting Springfield, especially for anything related to the State Capitol area, this is a very practical and fitting place to stay. Upon entering the room, I was immediately met with an unpleasant odor. As I started looking around, things only got worse. The bathtub in the bathroom was visibly dirty, the walls throughout the room had stains all over them, and there were crumbs left on the floor that made it obvious the room was not cleaned properly before my arrival. What really shocked me was how neglected certain areas were. Under the bed looked like it had not been cleaned in a very long time, and the area around the AC unit was covered in buildup and dirt to the point where it seemed like nobody had touched it for months. Even the mini fridge was an issue because the door would barely stay closed. For the price paid and the way this hotel presents itself online, this experience was beyond disappointing. I booked this hotel based on the reviews and photos, and I honestly feel misled. I normally do not leave negative reviews, but people deserve to know what they are actually walking into before spending their money here.

The place was packed due to a national sports event, which we were there to attend like everyone else. I booked several suites to accommodate I think a total of 17 people all arriving at different times. Making everyone happy was virtually impossible and as a business owner myself I understand these situations and that mistakes happen. What matters most to me in business is that the customer is listened to and his or her situation becomes the service provider's goal. As I said, our situation was difficult and the manager (I didn't catch her name) listened to me and, with the perfect combination of being personable and competent, made changes and upgrades resulting in one of the best family get togethers we've had. The morning front desk gentleman was also very accommodating. The room and overall property felt visibly dirty and poorly maintained. I found ants in my room and later observed staff walking around spraying consumer grade bug spray in common areas rather than what appeared to be professional pest management. At no point during a hotel stay should a guest have to worry about bugs crawling into their belongings. What disappointed me even more was the complete lack of follow through afterward. After providing direct feedback during my stay, I was told management would be contacted, points would be added to my account, and that a manager would personally follow up with me. None of those things happened. I understand that no property is perfect, and I generally extend a great deal of grace as someone who travels constantly. However, cleanliness, accountability, and communication matter. This experience fell far below the standard I have come to expect from Hilton.

First, and most importantly, if you or someone you are traveling with is elderly or has limited mobility, please double check the room you've been assigned to. When I was getting in and out of the shower/jacuzzi tub combo, it occurred to me how difficult the leap over the edge into a slick tub would be for someone my father's age. (I did use and REALLY enjoy the jacuzzi, and the attached shower was fine, but it's something to note.) Also, shower before 8:30 if you want any hot water! Second, if you're going to Springfield for work and will need stable and strong WiFi, this is NOT the hotel for you. I was just trying to check email and could barely get enough signal to do that. The signal didn't seem to be any better in the cafe area downstairs. Third, if you need a hairdryer, be sure to bring your own. They don't have them in the rooms. Now, on to the positives! What a cute little hotel this was. Parking was easy and free. There was hot breakfast available, which I didn't try due to time constraints. But there were bagels (only blueberry, weirdly enough) and muffins and toast. Also, the coffee was fantastic! The room was clean enough, but I did notice some small crumbs on the rug when I arrived. There were a couple of holes in the sheets, but the sheets were certainly clean and the bed was comfy! There are some great little touches at this inn, such as the warm cookies that arrive each evening and the modest little happy hour in the afternoons. My first room was clean and the front desk even called to make sure everything was okay (nice touch). The downside was the temperature. The room was uncomfortably warm, and after hours of trying to cool it down, I finally asked the front desk. They immediately moved me to a Jr. Suite to make up for it--which I really appreciated. The suite was spacious and had a microwave, but no fridge (even though there was an empty space clearly meant for one). My first room had neither, so keep that in mind if you're traveling with leftovers or snacks. The AC in the suite seemed better at first, but the room had a weird smell and by the middle of the night, it was back to being too warm no matter how low I set it. On the plus side, the bed and pillows were really comfortable, and the location is close to everything you'd want. On the downside, the "continental breakfast" was basically nonexistent, so definitely don't book this place for that. Overall, I'd maybe stay again if the AC issue gets fixed, because the staff and location do make up for a lot.

It was super convenient, I was staying two nights in the George and ordered breakfast for my second morning. The housekeeping staff put the box breakfast in my mini fridge the afternoon prior.
