I recently stayed here while attending a nearby wedding. I made my reservation a couple of months early and the price was under $200. My room was in the Hill House #8 which is separate from the main building. My room was spacious, with a large seating area and a private balcony overlooking the mountains. Many of the wedding attendees were staying at the hotel, but it was not too noisy at all. The staff was very helpful during our stay and check in was contactless and a breeze. Our room was ready when we arrived about an hour before check-in. There was an envelope in a basket with our name on it. Inside was the key and our receipt. The grounds are absolutely gorgeous and many of the pre-wedding photos were taken there. I did not eat in the restaurant but had a drink with the rehearsal dinner party the night before. This inn is a perfect setting for a wedding, an event or for a weekend stay in the mountains.

My husband and I recently spent a long weekend at the Inn at Sunset Hill and we absolutely LOVED it. The owners are wonderful - they gave us suggestions on which mountains might be better for my beginner level skiing while still good for my husband who likes a challenge as well as a recommendation to visit the Ice Castles at night instead of during the day to see all the lighting they do (Fantastic!). Our room was well equipped and spacious (308) - we loved having the jacuzzi in the room after a long day on the mountain. The restaurant was great - Breakfast offerings had different specials each day and we caught dinner one night and loved the soup & burgers. The best part of the restaurant is the View - The views from Guest rooms, the restaurant and right outside the Inn are spectacular. As we also golf, we can't wait to try the Inn again this Summer / Fall! Stay here and you definitely won't regret it.

    Perfect snowy getaway!

The Inn at Sunset Hill is the perfect getaway. Everything has clearly been lovingly and painstakingly restored and maintained without losing any original integrity. You feel as though you've stepped back in time, yet, with all the creature comforts of home - modern toilets, Jacuzzi tubs (try the bath grains!), and flat screen TVs. Room 203 was unexpectedly spacious! Overlooking the White Mountains, the view from the bay window was breathtaking. The breakfasts were hearty, filling, and delicious. Fresh scones, eggs anyway you like, tasty homefries, blueberry pancakes, quiches, and the fluffiest omelets - all with a picturesque view of the mountains. Meals in the pub did not disappoint either! We truly enjoyed the location - away from everything yet reasonable driving distance to Franconia Notch, Crawford Notch, Lincoln, and even North Conway. The town is quaint but has a gas station and grocery store. There are acres of property and trails on which to snowshoe. And of course, Dudley the happy-go-lucky English Sheepdog mascot is the best! Dick and Sally are the most welcoming, fun, and genuinely caring innkeepers. As devoted visitors to their previous inn, we couldn't wait to visit. The entire staff seems truly happy to be there!

My wife and I recently got married at The Sunset Hill House, and we had an incredible experience working with them. We had searched far and wide for a place to have a small elopement style wedding, and when I saw the recent renovations completed by Saxton and Karen, I knew it would be the perfect place to hold our wedding, rain or shine. The house itself has so much character, but the interior has been revamped to a more modern/minimalist style that we loved and knew would be a great backdrop for our photos should we have to take pictures inside. Not only that, the staff at Sunset Hill are so friendly and accommodating - working with Judy to plan out all the details of the wedding was wonderful; she was extremely prompt at answering any questions we had along the way, and was able to accommodate special requests for us - we are so appreciative for everything she did for us. Also, the chef accommodated several of our special requests, and our guests were raving about how amazing the food was. We cannot recommend this hidden gem enough to our family and friends who want to get away to a gorgeous retreat in the mountains, and we can't wait to go back as soon as we can!

Very relaxing weekend. The owners are lovely, the rooms are clean and the food at the new tavern was really good. Our dog, Nelson enjoyed his play dates with the resident dog, Dudley!

This spot was perfect for everything that we wanted to do! The Inn is fairly small- probably around 9 or 10 rooms. The hotel was pretty empty during our stay so we were upgraded to a room overlooking the lawn which was great. I can't say enough about the property. It's nestled in the hills and is just so serene. There's a small stream nearby and if we didn't have so much to explore I could have spent hours laying on the hammock on the back lawn. The inside is equally impressive - it's got a very preppy feel and I felt like I was in a Polo ad. There are lots of cozy sitting areas, fireplaces and shelves filled with books and games. The actual guest room is spacious and the bed is comfy. It's an older hotel but you can tell there were updates. The AC works well and the shower has good pressure. Because of covid there is no daily room cleaning. There is also normally a bar and restaurant onsite but it's not open because of covid. But there is still a daily breakfast for guests included in the stay. Breakfast is sit down service every day from 8-9 and comes with eggs, fruit salad, an English muffin and a meat plus coffee and juice. Always delicious and filling! Staff is also friendly. We had the same server for breakfast every morning and she was very sweet. We also saw the innkeeper Doug around periodically and he was always super friendly and helpful. The rate is reasonable and the location is great. Your about a ten minute drive from Franconia notch / echo lake / cannon mt and around a half hour from mt Washington. You can find lots of food and breweries ten minutes north in Littleton or twenty minutes south in Lincoln. We will stay here again without hesitation and I truly think it would be a beautiful and enjoyable visit during all seasons.

This year (2009-2010 ski season), the Horse and Hound is under new management and it is again one of the best apres ski and dining establishments near Cannon Mt. Don't be misinformed by the old website which is soon to be updated. The Hunt Room menu is comprehensive American Cuisine. The daily specials are a must. The portions are good. The lounge has great atmosphere, music, a well stocked bar, friendly service, free wifi (a big plus for the area) and big screen television. The area also has some of the best Alpine and Nordic skiing around. My wife and I have been there twice in as many weeks and we expect to make it a regular venue for the ski season.

The food was a 6. Beverages were short. The flourless chocolate cake was flat. Bread pudding was average. Waitress was a touch pushy. But I think she was just trying to make sure we were happy. I do think their drinks are overpriced. Example: one shot of scotch was $15.00. There was a beautiful red propane stove in our suite that was inoperative. Unfortunately, there was a very noticeable septic smell throughout the Inn. I will consider other Inns when we return.

The towel holder was rusty, the lights didn't dim, and there was a TV mount with no TV. They stripped away the charming Victorian wallpaper and replaced it with plain paper (done diy again) because it was already peeling off. Dead bugs collected in the corners where they hadn't vacuumed. Worse, there was no heat because they hadn't turned it on yet! They gave me a space heater that was either too hot or too cold. The outdoor paddocks were cluttered with extra wood fencing, making the view from my balcony ugly and messy. No food service Monday through Thursday, and they replaced the once-fresh coffee and four-star breakfast with bagels and cereal. The tennis courts had grass growing on them, and the barn's broken windows and peeling siding looked neglected. Cold air and flies seeped in through window ACs, and they even took away the rocking chairs. The parking lot is in terrible condition--uneven, with water pooling everywhere, and no lighting, so you inevitably end up stepping in it! They took away the personal touches and charm. Shame. Horses were well fed and bed was very comfortable. Mia at the front desk was great.
