I knew I was going to love this place when I was greeted by the golden retriever Dakota when we arrived. Yet another lovely pooch greeted us at the door, Miss Wrigley. Loved having the pets around. The garden and home are amazing. Really quite lovely. They also have a beautiful pool with lounge area and a lovely big porch in the front of the home. We stayed in the Berllan Glen room. It's gorgeous. Big bedroom area, very large bathroom area, and private porch. The pictures speak for themselves. Some folks may need a step stool to get into the bed :) The reason for the one start deduction is that I went to put my lingerie in the bureau. I saw a bunch of women's stockings all curled up inside in a drawer. I assumed someone forgot their clothes. Then I opened other drawers. They too were all filled. Then I went to the end table chest of drawers on both sides of the bed, they were full. I finally found a few empty drawers in the armoire with the TV. I also could not find a closet door that would open. I eventually figured out there were two rods to hang clothes on on either end of the armoire. I believe the lovely hostess should've told us that there were clothes in our room and where we could hang or put ours clothes away. I found it off putting and quite odd to have someone else's clothes in the furniture. I've since asked other friends and family and they too agree that is quite odd. Anyway, the breakfast in the morning was delicious. Lovely spread. Apparently, you can arrange for dinner at the home, but you have to let the innkeepers know in advance. The house is chock full of items for decoration and has a tiny little gift shop where I did purchase some private label Earl Grey tea that's quite yummy. As a very nice touch they do have complementary sodas, water, and snacks for the guests. One can also purchase wine, if desired. There is also a coffee bar and tea bar. I was so pleased to see a tea bar because so few places have that. My only small issue with that is that there's no milk available--only in the mornings when the coffee bar has their half-and-half out. I didn't realize they have "operating" hours. The innkeepers are available until 9 at night, unless an emergency. I finally figured that out on a card they left in the room on the bureau with fresh water. It's about a seven minute ride to the actual Town of Granville. The town is a must see! The Whit's ice cream is delicious. All in all, it's a lovely place, except for the fact that I had that issue with putting my clothes away.

Due to allergies, I have to look at a room before renting (chemically sensitive and odors will make me sick so hotels are difficult). The woman working the late shift was so kind and showed us two rooms without rolling her eyes or giving us attitude (that's the usual response we get at hotels); we picked the second one. She was understanding and gracious. Hard to find that. In the morning, the breakfast ladies were so cute, sweet, and funny. They made our day! Fawned over our baby and shared grandchildren stories. It was like being home. Then we asked for a 2:00 check out since my husband needed to work before we traveled today. No problem! This place is a hidden gem!

We made the…read morechoice to stay in Columbus after two flight delays that got us in very late at night, after the car rental options were unavailable for pick up. So, this was a last minute booking. Unfortunately, all booking sites were telling us that there were no rooms available for a family of six. Thus, we adjusted the number of people in our party down to be able to book a room that sleeps six. Our original room reservation came with two double beds and a pullout couch.. This arrangement is perfect for two parents, two teenagers, two toddlers. When we arrived at check-in around 1 AM, the receptionist let my husband know that the room was not available for six people, so we had to add a second room in order to check in. So, he had the benefit of a king bed to himself, while I slept in a room down the hall with all the little people. It would have been ideal if they'd at least given us connecting rooms, assuming this was an available option. By the time we were up, showered, and dressed in the morning, I sent the teenagers down with the toddlers who were complaining of hunger to get breakfast. I loaded up the luggage onto a luggage cart and follow them down. To my surprise, they were just sitting in the lobby with the toddlers, still crying. The teenagers let me know that breakfast had ended a few minutes before at 9 AM. I took a chance on entering the breakfast area as I could at least see that there was dry cereal containers on the counters. I figured cereal would be better than them leaving the hotel with nothing as late as it was in their normal schedule. To my surprise, there were still a few breakfast items inside the heated containers as well; so, I grabbed a few biscuits and some jelly packets for the little ones. This cheered them right up. We called a taxi the evening we arrived to get us from the airport to the hotel, and another in the morning after to get us from the hotel to the rental car pick up location. I read reviews as we waited on our second taxi about how this hotel will call you taxis for free to inform the airport. Unfortunately, we did not get to test that out and we're not aware of that as a potential feature. Overall, the rooms were comfortable and clean. I just wished we hadn't been forced into a second room in the middle of the night.
