We hadn't made a reservation (the rain…read morealtered our plans), so we got there when they opened to make sure we got a seat, and we were seated promptly. The service was excellent - our server was very friendly and personable, chatting with us and making recommendations when asked. Everything arrived promptly and as requested. (For instance, I ordered a cocktail with our appetizer and also asked for a glass of wine to be brought with the steak, and the timing was perfect - not always the case when you ask for something to come 20 minutes later.) The food is basic "steakhouse" food - no bells and whistles, and nothing to make it unique, but the steak was delicious, and the sides were perfectly fine. It certainly hit the spot after a day of hiking and exploring. It's expensive, as one would expect in a remote location like this. In normal circumstances, the value wouldn't be there to make it worth visiting... but in the middle of Death Valley, I'll take it! I would go back if I was staying the night again for sure.

I had the roasted chicken, which was quite tasty, particularly the sauce it came in. However I was pretty disappointed in the portion size, particularly given the prices are pretty steep. The size of "veggies and potatoes" was 3 small cuts of a potato and 2 similarly sized cuts of a carrot. The chicken portion was essentially just a leg. The entire area has a bit of a theme park feel to it with pricing, but this felt pretty egregious for $29. Our entire group had a similar takeaway, though some others didn't find theirs as tasty as mine was. I'd pretty strongly recommend against coming here, the sports bar nearby is a far better bang for your buck with probably slightly better quality of food

The other dining options were far too crowded (with longer wait times) so we make our way over to the Wild Rose Tavern. There are many large TVs with sports playing (not our cup of tea) so we opted to sit on the outside covered deck with views of the mountains in the distance. We enjoyed a Caesar Salad and an oder of Chips, Queso and Salsa. Prices were reasonable considering the location - the salad was a nice sized portion and tasty. The chips were accompanied by fire roasted salsa and poblano Chile queso dip which I really enjoyed. Service was friendly and attentive - we were there in the mid-afternoon and I believe it can get crowded closer to traditional meal times. We would return here on a return visit to Death Valley.

We didn't even think to take pictures because the food just wasn't memorable. My boyfriend ordered the sliders, and I had the burger, and both were just... okay. The presentation was nothing special, and the flavors were pretty lackluster. On the bright side, our server was fantastic--funny, attentive, and genuinely made our experience better. We also got a table by the window, which offered lovely views of the palm trees and golf course, giving the place a bit of a Palm Springs vibe. If you're dining at the Ranch Plaza, I'd recommend skipping this spot and heading to the ice cream parlor instead.

Locals hangout! [Randsburg CA]…read more It was a quiet Saturday afternoon when we visited this historic town this past Memorial Day weekend. We were hungry and was hoping that there was someplace to grab a bite here at this mining town. The owner of the Rock and Crystal shop pointed to this "Joint" and mentioned that they make a mean burrito and burgers. While I was still shopping at the crystal store my hubby went over to the bar and asked if the neighboring restaurant could fire up the grill for a couple of cheeseburgers w/ grilled onions (they looked like they were already putting stuff away at 4:30p). They were kind enough to oblige and we got to eat one tasty burger! The burgers were delicious... the grilled onions and seasoning they use really put flavor on those beef patties. Very good! The Joint is a family-owned saloon since 1955 with friendly folks running the bar. Decorated with patriotic flags inside and out. Was probably surprised and not used to seeing a couple of Asians walk in. As we were leaving people were starting to trickle in... looks like the fun was about to start. Found out later that they had a live band entertaining from 8:00p to midnight that evening for Memorial Day Saturday. Fun!! Review #2995
