My wife and I have stayed in at least 30 B & B's during our travels. I would have to rate this place at or close to the bottom. There was no one there to greet us when we arrived and no one at the desk when we left. We never felt welcomed - the staff was not particularly friendly and we felt like no one cared we were there. Our room was awful - the bed was uncomfortable as were the two chairs in the room. It was incredibly hot with no thermostat to control the room temperature. Our door was not sealed properly and the light poured through the door at night. Breakfast was a joke. For fruit I got three blueberries, two grapes and a half a strawberry with a half a slice of bread. Our coffee was lukewarm. Our eggs and toast were not cooked properly. It was so bad that even though we paid for two nights, we left after the first night and forfeited the cost of the second night. If you are going to Edenton, stay somewhere else. read more

RATED a C with BBB. Do not do business here. I had a heartbreaking and thoughtless experience with the Inner Banks Inn and Susan Cyr. February 9th 2021 I signed a contract with the Inner Banks Inn for a wedding that was to take place on April 9th 2022. I also paid a deposit of $4,950.00 to hold this wedding date. April 20th 2021 (only 2 months after signing the contract) my engagement was broken and I formally cancelled the wedding event with Susan Cyr, who confirmed receipt of the cancellation. Upon cancellation Susan stated they would attempt to rebook the date since it was a YEAR away. I was told if the date was re-booked that I would receive a refund and that if it was not rebooked that I could use the deposit funds toward a "girl's weekend." While I called and emailed many many times I never received any follow up on how to pursue booking a "girl's weekend." This business has had 3 managers (Jennifer, Linda, Lindsey) I've spoken to (they get a new one every few months), and Susan has never called me back. I would like a refund of at least half of the amount I paid, I'm requesting $2,475.00. I also have proof that I do not believe they attempted to rebook the date in good faith. My brother in law, reached out in February of 2022 to confirm what dates were available in April of 2022 he was not provided the April 9th date as an option until it was specifically asked for. I've tried calling and email so many times but never heard back from Susan. She's treated me terribly, and I don't want anyone else to experience such heartache and financial loss should things not go as planned. read more

Wedding date was double-booked after paying save-the-date deposit with no communication for 2-months. We toured the venue early April 2025 with wedding coordinator Jennifer Byrum and loved the Inn and the Mulberry Sound space. Jennifer took notes on a legal pad with all of our details during the tour and promised us a great planning experience, open communication, and that they only book a limited number of weddings each year so each event can have the best service possible. At the end of April 2025, we called Jennifer to save our date and pay our deposit! During this call, we had to give Jennifer all of the details again that we saw her noting during our first meeting, this should have been a red flag. We immediately got a receipt for our deposit and were told we would get the contract in the next day or two as well as the info on room-blocks, vendors ect. Four weeks went by and we heard nothing. We checked in via text to Jennifer a few times and never got a response. We called and emailed in case Jennifer was out and we never heard back from anyone at Inner Banks Inn. Finally, at the end of June on a Friday at 8pm, Jennifer called with the Proprietor, Susan. Susan started explaining that they changed software systems and that was the reason for the delay in the contract. They began with wanting to confirm all of our wedding package details again, for a 3rd time, then finally asked us to confirm the wedding date we booked. Once we said the date, they said they had accidentally double booked the date, blaming the software change-over for the mistake. But said that we did book the date first so we could have first-dibs if we wanted to move to a better weekend or keep our date. We wanted to talk with family and friends before moving dates since we already gave many a heads up but they needed to know RIGHT then (after 4 weeks of no communication with us, they needed to know immediately). So, we chose to keep our date, and asked exactly when we would be getting our contract now. They promised again we would get it in a day or two now that the new program was up and running. Another week went by and there was no contract and no communication. Finally Susan and Jennifer called back and Susan said there was "no fair way to prove who booked first" and that it was impossible to say, so as a result we could not keep the date. Even though we had a dated receipt from when we paid our deposit, she refused to use that as any timeline proof, end of conversation. After more delay and many phone calls (unreturned), we got our deposit money refunded. Susan promised to refund us also for the money we already spent o, save-the-date cards ect, but we have yet to see any of that refund, 8-weeks later now. In summary: - wedding date was paid for and yet double booked - horrible communication - we were left with money spent out of our wedding budget, 2-months behind schedule, and without a venue - Jennifer and Susan are a huge disservice to what would otherwise be a beautiful venue. read more

The owner should have a backbone and not hide or tell employees to hide from phone calls. my mother was diagnosed with cancer and was very much looking for a visit to the inn while exploring the area. she had to change plans and asked if the inn would offer a credit or refund due to the circumstances. the owner, susan, continuously ignored my moms calls as did her staff... coincidentally. my mother was just looking for an answer to hopefully not lose money. instead of saying "we cannot refund", the owner Susan said she's "deferring to the board of directors". she then hid from calls and my moms calls were never answered. show some empathy or a backbone. read more

She doesn't give you your money back she keep 1000.00 and gave no refund even thought she told us she could accommodate us during Covid and my family coming in from out of town and then changed it and said we can only have 10 people after we had given her $1000 deposit and then give us our money back even though she's the one who changed the rules wanted to offer us a night. My fiancé and I stay at the Inner Banks Inn visiting family around the holidays in Edenton! This was our third time staying at this property and really can't say enough great things about our experience always. The staff is very kind, and the property is really beautiful. We have always stayed in the "Pack House" which is a converted tobacco barn. My fiancé calls our stays a "Hallmark Holiday" and her social media agrees! We rode the bikes in the AM to the coffee shop, which was so fun. Thanks to Amy at the front desk for recommending a few things to do around town during our stay, and thanks again to Inner Banks Inn for our great stay overall as always. Everything about this lovely inn is easily a four or five. The bed is a zero. The people who work here are super nice and they genuinely love the place they work. The front porch is amazing to just sit on and relax. It's only a couple blocks from the water and downtown area so completely walkable. It's so convenient to have a restaurant on the property so no one has to drive. The breakfast was delicious with nice touches. We loved that you could eat within a two hour time frame rather than having to eat at a certain time. The one thing that will keep me from going back is the bed. It was a regular cheap looking mattress that had a Temper Pedic mattress topper pad on top. Lame. With two of us in the bed tossing and turning all night, by morning, five inches of this pad was hanging off one side of the bed. The pillows felt like bricks. The sheets were the kind that make you sweat all night. Oh! I almost forgot about the plastic covering on the mattress pad! Lovely sound every time you moved. Needless to say, we didn't sleep well at all. One more thing - the descriptions of all of the rooms said "ironed sheets." While I certainly don't care if my sheets are ironed, the point is not to say they are when clearly they aren't. read more

Those people are inredible. If you go there stay in the pack house portion of the b and b. Front bldg is noisy and by the street. Will go back, a little dated in spots, but worth the trip. This is such a cozy little place to stay. It just screams charm. Shannon at the front desk was so nice and welcoming and helped with any question or issue we had. The bed was nice and firm just the way I like. My only complaint would be the road noise. We were in room 6 so we were on a busy road. There is not much they can do about but it didn't keep us up at night. If you are sensitive to noise I would recommend a room with a higher number as they are further from the road. read more

My husband & I were passing through Edenton, NC on our roadtrip to Florida. At the last minute we discovered the Inner Banks Inn online and decided to stay here rather than a hotel and were SO glad we did. From the warm welcome by Taylor, to the offer by the owner, Susan, to show us around -- everything was perfect. Our suite (Yeopim Suite) was spacious, beautiful and immaculate. We enjoyed a nice dinner in their restaurant, and a fabulous 3 course breakfast (included), served by Amy who, like everyone else, was just wonderful. Have always loved this place but some disappointments this visit, therefore the 'OK' rating.... wifi signal on second floor constantly dropped ....Chronic issue everywhere except restaurant, according other guests. Staff seemed unaware of any problems. 'fresh' towels in our bath on 2nd day saturated with water! Dryer not working?? Small TVs in rooms have no TV (as opposed to cable) remotes so cannot adjust aspect ratio... Picture fills half the small screen. We rarely watch tv when we travel but wanted to watch big games this weekend. On the positive side, the staff remains so friendly and helpful, making dinner reservations for us, eager to help, finding a little fan for our quite warm bedroom on the second floor. Dinner is always outstanding. One year we were here when Table was closed. We won't let that happen again! We'll be back and probably bring friends with us but this fine old b&b too good (and too expensive) for the lapse in service/accommodation this visit. Hope they get the WiFi figured out. read more

a joke. rooms are tired; furniture dusty, Velcro tape on bed canopy frame: rough bath towels. noisy, street noise & staff yelling as do their work; laundry room vibrates throughout the day. restaurant was closed-were not notified upon making reservation. only one server at breakfast- a supposed 3-course affair - a parody. This Inn May have been great at one time but it is not now- neither is Edenton: save your $ or go elsewhere. online photos make it appear more luxurious than it is. Our experience was with Satterfield house Room # 10 and the Tillie Bond Cottage Room # 23. Both rooms were very unlike the photos on the website and in poor condition. Tillie Bond Cottage was in need of major repairs. Satterfield house smelled of mold. Staff also failed to remove the air freshners I wrote I was severely allergic to when booking the reservation. Sent two nights having rashes and allergy symptoms. Lastly, prior to our stay, we booked Thanksgiving dinner at The Table restaurant. When we received our bill, the price for the meal was quite significantly highly than advertised on the website. The owner, when confronted, was unreceptive to our feelings of being misled by false advertising. We found her unkind and untruthful. The B&B was perfect. The room was extremely comfortable and well decorated. The food was off the charts Excellent Rib eye cuts with a fork. My wife has servers food allergies and the staff happily customized her meals per her request. We've traveled a lot, but this was our first time in a B&B by the time we left the staff and other guest felt like long time friends. We could not recommend this place more. The staff made it easy to just unwind and relax. Edenton is a small town full of pre colonial and revolutionary history. We enjoyed the free bike rentals provided at no charge. read more

Booked the B & B from the internet mostly because they were one of the few we found with 2 beds in a room as I was traveling with my best friend whom I love but still what my own space. We got in later ...about 8:30 pm and Susie, the new owner greeted us. When she found that we had not had dinner, she offered to have the restaurant on site to deliver our dinner to the dining room in the house we were staying in. They brought jambalaya and a beef brisket that was to die for! The Chef is excellent. We shared a bottle of wine and enjoyed prowling around in the various different houses on the property. Don't worry, they encourage prowling and are kind enough to leave the doors open to any rooms no occupied so that's what we did. As we were then on weekdays and not week end, there were quite a few to prowl through. Breakfast was in the next building. There were about 4 Other groups there but most left after we sat down. We met a lovely couple from Yorkshire England. The gal who was working breakfast was very sweet and was happy to share different things to do in the area and on our way to the Outer Banks which is where we were going next. Loved loved loved the town of Edenton and could certainly see myself living there if ever I were to leave California. Everyone was so friendly and welcoming! read more

The property had amazing reviews, which is unreal, staff was very friendly, property needs updating and has several safety concerns. Our room had several issues that needed attention but one of the main concerns was the smoke detector was not operational, you could see it was not connected by the wires hanging. Room nor amenities were as described online and although the room was prepaid we actually checked out early (without refund). I attempted to speak with the owner prior to leaving which was not available, since our return home we have reached out to the owner with no response. We were highly disappointed with our stay and the property and is somewhere we would not recommend. read more

We can't say enough about the Inner Banks Inn and Restaurant. The rooms are beautiful! We visited the weekend of Dec 18th. The Christmas decorations are gorgeous. We ate several meals at the restaurant, The Table, all of which were delicious! The service was outstanding ! All the people at the Inn are fabulous. Especially Amy and Jennifer. All the shop owners in the downtown area are super friendly. Seems like a place lost in time where everyone knows everyone and even the visitors are made to feel right at home. read more

Make sure to call ahead before booking if you are planning on eating at their restaurant, The Place, while staying here. Both their website, the confirmation booking email and the website we used to reserve a table were outdated and didn't reflect their new hours. We didn't even know it was closed until the day of the trip, when we received an email saying our reservations had been cancelled. When we told the staff, they were unapologetic and unprofessional, until we showed them proof; even still, they never apologized. It was a major turn off since there aren't really any good places to eat nearby. While the building itself is charming, the rooms weren't as clean as some of the previous places I've stayed. Overall, it wasn't a good experience and I would recommend people stay elsewhere, preferably a town or two over, for a better time. read more

We took an impromptu trip and stayed in nearby Edenton for the inaugural Historic Hertford Unhilly Hundred bike ride (http://www.historichertfordinc.org/unhillyhundred.html) last weekend and discovered The Table at the Inner Banks Inn, newly opened in January, 2015. What a find! We travel all over the country and this food was exceptional. Well prepared, beautifully presented and incredibly flavorful. No heavy seasonings, just fresh and flavorful. A very welcoming establishment with top notch service. Excellent wine choices and very reasonably priced. Would go back to Edenton just to dine here again...Wow!! read more

We had a great stay here. The Inn was quiet and charming and very comfortable. There are several buildings, all of which looked appealing, but we chose the Pack House for the great rooms. It surpassed our expectations. The staff were gracious and friendly and the owner (new owner, then on her 72nd day of ownership) went out of her way to make sure we had everything we needed. Big, hot breakfast was included in the dining room, but the Pack House also had a kitchen stocked with snacks, teas and coffee. We would go back. And probably will! read more

From first course to last, we were treated to great food and fantastic service. I was talking to a coworker about getting away to a romantic B&B with my wife and he recommended the Inner Banks Inn. I made a last minute reservation for the last weekend in July. The Inn and the town of Edenton were the perfect place to get away and relax for a couple of days. The facilities are beautiful and well maintained. Susan the proprietor and the entire staff were attentive to our needs and went out their way to make us feel welcomed and at home. We enjoyed a delicious breakfast both days. I really enjoyed my stay at Inner Banks Inn. I came to Edenton for a girls trip with my best friend and instantly walking on the property we were in complete relaxation mode. The experience that we had at the inn was unlike any other place we have stayed before. The staff was very attentive, accommodating and willing to show us some of the best spots in town. My friend and I also borrowed bikes from the inn to ride around town. The restaurant The Table at Inner Banks Inn was wonderful. The food was top-notch and the restaurant staff was impeccable. Wowee! What a lovely inn and restaurant and a charming town to boot. We were in town for a family wedding. The lovely innkeeper was infinitely patient and accommodating as we determined how many rooms we needed and for which evenings. The inn is a beautifully authentic old southern home with all "mod cons." We took full advantage of the gorgeous front porch for early coffee and evening wine. And the food!!! I was in town with a large group of colleagues working on a television project in the Edenton, NC Area. To be fair we generally go with a Hilton or a Hampton in situations like these but they were sold out. As a workaround I looked into having my crew stay at the Inner Banks Inn and boy am I glad we did! This was an amazingly fun place for everyone to stay and such a cool change from the dull chain hotels. The staff was extremely helpful and accommodating. We ended up coming back to the hotel each afternoon for lunch and the food was well priced, tasty and hearty. I would definitely recommend staying at the Inner Banks Inn with a group or just a fun weekend away for two. read more
