Ventured here today looking for some fresh fruits and vegetables…read more Was happy with the selection for today. Picked up some yummy fruits and veggies. Was excited to see seeded watermelons and seeded grapes! We also grabbed some jelly's and apple butter. The Apple Butter took me back to Sunday mornings breakfast at Grandmas. The bakery side had a variety of yummy treats from doughnuts, pies, cookies and cakes. Definitely grabbed a few for later. The Apple Pie ice cream my hunnie ordered was delicious. Tasted just like Apple Pie. Looking forward to our next adventure here already.

The woman who checked us out was an absolute delight, warm, funny, and exactly what you hope for at a local farm stand. Unfortunately my experience in the herb section was the opposite. When I asked about strawberry plants and was told they didn't have any, I mentioned I was a first time gardener and asked if she could recommend something beginner friendly. Her response was essentially "just pick something, all you have to do is water them." When I explained again that I was new and looking for guidance, she told me she couldn't help me. As a first time gardener trying to learn, that kind of dismissiveness was discouraging. If it weren't for the lovely woman at checkout, I likely wouldn't return. I ended up going to Ed's Plant World in Brandywine where the staff were warm, welcoming, and genuinely helpful to a beginner. The difference was night and day. That said, I'm giving 4 stars because the place is really awesome in terms of selection and variety. The woman in the herb section may have just been having a bad day. It's absolutely worth checking out.

There is so much more than just tulip picking. My kids had such a blast enjoying the tulip-themed playground on site and the food trucks. There is also drink stands set up including non-alcoholic beverages along with beer and a cocktail tent. The service is efficient. They've clearly done this before and it's mostly staffed by friendly high school students. We were allowed to pick 5 tulips each, so for the four of us, we had 20 tulips. Upon leaving, staff will wrap up the tulips to ensure you picked the right amount. You can pick more but pay per stem. The young woman who helped wrap our flowers was very kind to our kids. She even helped them count all the flowers and papers, which was very sweet. It was a really fun day out. It sells out quickly, so advanced tickets are necessary.

Admission for adults is $21, and what that gets you is essentially a tractor ride and the chance to pick five tulips. Beyond that, almost everything on the property is geared toward kids. Calling it a "spring festival" feels like a stretch -- there are no vendor tents, no adult-focused activities, and the only shopping option is their small farm store. They did have a few food trucks, but that was about it. For an event marketed as a festival, I expected more variety and more value for the price. Honestly, with how much of the experience is designed for children, I strongly feel kids' tickets should cost more than adult tickets, not the other way around. If Burnside Farms added vendor booths, adult-friendly activities, or anything else to make the experience feel more like a true festival, the $21 entry fee might make more sense. As it stands, this was a one-and-done visit for me. Great photo opps.

The portion of milk per group on the ticket is deceiving as many other reviews state. Hence losing 1 star. The second part is: you get to go in a pen with the donkey, lama, and a bunch of adult goats. They have tree stumps that you can sit on and have the goats climb on you to eat all the snacks. The best part is the whole experience that makes this way different then any other goat experience is that the goats and you have no fence no barrier and you are right there. And there are bunnies you can sit and pet but the goats are way better. And to add to other reviews, yes it is their personal house and farm but the experience can not be beat anywhere else.

My Mom sang to the donkey. There were little goats being born while we were there in the barn. The bunnies were the highlight of my kids' trip. I then went back for Goat Yoga. OMG!!! This made my year! I had a blast. Not sure how much yoga I got done because I was soooo focused on the friendly goats. My favs were Elsie and Fudge. Then I was talking to Susan, one of the owners, about flowers for my daughter's wedding - she was so sweet, she let me cut a bunch from her own garden and didn't even charge me! Not simply because he was running late, but because the house (castle/waiting room/party room) was absolutely filthy. I was really taken aback by a business looking like this, even if it's a business that works w/ animals. When we got there, the owner and assistant were on a ride w/ another group. Then the group we were supposed to be riding with were an hour late, so we had to wait for them. It was just annoying, although Steven (owner) was friendly. When we walked into the empty house it looked like a construction space, a hen was walking around the inside and I even saw it poop IN THE KITCHEN! Things finally turned around when I hopped on Sherman (my white horse w/ black spots). He was a greedy little thing and ate up all the grass but he was a great horse. Steven immediately put ppl on the horses and taught us while we were riding. He was a straight to it teacher and I liked that. He definitely knows what he's doing when it comes to animals. He took a bunch of pictures and videos and sent them to everyone in the group. I'm thankful to have such awesome pictures that didn't cost us extra. I'm giving 4 stars despite the filth because Steven was friendly, welcoming, and I enjoyed the experience. Tip: -don't eat there if germs bug u -don't arrive early, there's no point -yes, you're in the right spot, even though it looks a little funky on the outside

He also never redeemed our Groupon. He has repeatedly messaged me and begged me to remove this review and has even reported it to Yelp to try to get it removed. Not only do I stand by my review but this Steven Strasburg owner has proved himself to not only be completely unprofessional but also desperate and dishonest. My advice: TAKE SOME RESPONSIBILITY for your business instead of accusing people of posting fake reviews or saying "it must've been another place". This is the ONLY time where an owner has not only not apologized but tried to say I'm posting for the wrong Castle Strasburg. How many Castle Strasburg horseriding places are there in Midland, VA?
