You have to take Inn Joy for what it is... a little bar on the Damen/Divison strip. Nothing outrageous, nothing fancy and no frills. Perhaps the best part of Inn Joy are the 80s videos playing throughout the bar. Before Footloose got started, we were treated to a string of classics including "Hello", "I Think We're Alone Now", and "Cruel Summer." Breakin' 2 was also on rotation. I dig! Inn Joy gets pretty packed, so if you want to score a table or a spot at the bar, you may want to commit to this place early so you can be prepared. Otherwise, it's just another stop on the Wicker Park bar train. read more

I have been here twice - once when it was packed (not as enjoyable) and once a little earlier in the evening and I really enjoyed myself and my company. We were able to sit at a candlelit table and had a nice server. Not the best wine selection, but I didn't expect it to have one either. If you can get a seat and secure your "spot," this place comes reccomended. read more

Been hittin Innjoy up now pretty regularly since summer 2012. Its on the perfect yuppy/hipster strip and it always calls for a good time. The bar food is good and I can't help but love the $5 spot which is a cheap domestic beer like a pbr or miller lite plus a loaded bratwurst or fries or pizza. The themed nights are pretty good especially the nineties revivals along with accompanying music videos. If you're there for a planned night out or just pop in for food and drinks you won't be upset. read more

We were there Saturday night and could not believe how this bar has changed over the years. The bouncer, an older white guy, let 3 different parties skip the line because they handed him cash. At one point he told the person that wasn't enough and they gave him more. Those of us that had been waiting in line for 30 minutes felt this to be completely unfair. This place is so laid back that I thought I saw the bartender sleeping on a cot behind the bar. I used to live right behind here (just moved in June), and would head over here to meet the wife and kid after work. They have a special deal nearly every day of the week - and their food is pretty run-of-the-mill for bar fare, but good (caveat - I'm a vegetarian). Their pizzas are good with a thin crust and have a healthy load of toppings - go on the half-off pizza day, and on Tuesdays they have half off their burger selection (try the gardenburger, wingnut!) There is always a drink special, so I could be sure to stumble around the corner to my home, afterward. While it really isn't geared for kids - it IS a bar, btw - my 3 year old loved it because she really grooves on the sounds pumping from the djs that are spinning nearly all the time, even during the commercials of some major sporting events. I have waited inordinate periods of time for food, contemplating the gnawing off of hands for sustenance, but the servers are hipster enough to completely ignore me. Great patio. Great specials. Good food. Scene is easy on the eyes, and so is the abundant people-watching. Go there. Now! read more

Five stars.. why not? I live down the street and come here occasionally. The food is better than average - cheaper, lots of comfort foods, great salads. They deliver locally. They have a sweet fireplace and semi private booths towards the back. I wish I had known there was a basement party room, it's perfect for a group less than 50 people. If I could give this place half a star, I would. I went here last night, but not by choice. I hadn't been in more than five years, and when I set foot in there last night to meet some friends, I remembered why. The beer list is crappy at best: They have A-B products, Corona, Stella, and few other of the most boring beers imaginable. Even more nondescript hole-in-the-wall taverns have a more interesting beer list, with brews that are drinkable. The service simply stinks, and the crowd made up of obnoxious overgrown frat boys. This was our first stop on a bachelorette party last Saturday. We came for the 80's music and were not disappointed. The DJ was great and was able to accommodate a lot of our requests. He links up the songs he plays to the video on several screens around the bar, which makes 80's night even more fun. Service at the bar was great too and while it was busy we didn't have to wait long for drinks. I would highly recommend to anyone who wants to dance to 80's music. read more

I have been here on a couple of different weekends and really enjoyed myself. It can get really crowded and cramped, but I feel most of the patrons are really friendly. I have always made friends with the people around me so the bumping isn't problematic. I love to sing and dance to throw back music, so Innjoy and I are a match made in heaven. They show music videos on their TV's. When do you get to see music videos these days?? I can sometimes find myself ignoring my friends and watching Madonna roll around in a wedding dress. This place was insane. After me and my good time friend ate our decent meal nearby we were like hey? Why not get one drink get wasted and call it a night. So we walked into this bar only because it was nearby. First of all, the music is so loud they think this is some sick dubstep concert. Well we could barley hear each other even though she was 2 feet from me across the table. Next we order some drinks, they were like lemon bombs or lemon drops or something like so. I think it was supposed To be vodka lemonade vibes. It was pure sugar. My friend and I did not like this. If I want to eat pure sugar I will walk down the street and get a box of pastries. If I'm going to get wasted id rather just have it simple and save the sweet overload for my food ventures. Well we didn't want the drinks and the waiter didn't bring the check cuz they thoguht we were still working on it. Well we dump the drinks into our water cups. I felt guilty but what can you do at a time like that ? Also, I'd like to add this place made me feel extremely claustrophobic and germsaphobic Bevause although they had 6 feet apart tables everyone was up mingling ,touching each other, standing against tables, as if coronavirus wasn't happening. I love this place. The crowd is diverse and the drinks are decently priced. The night I went was all 80s music WITH the videos. How much better can it get? We all had a blast. I came here randomly with my coworkers. We were walking down Division looking for something to eat and walked by this place. We saw they had some specials so we came in. One of my coworkers got the nachos ($7), the other one got a deal which included a personal pizza and a drink (I want to say it was like $6/7ish?). She also got some onion rings ($4 -- half off on Wednesdays). I got the fish and chips ($9). The pricing was decent and pretty much worth what we got, but I'm not sure how much that's saying since the food was just alright. I guess you get what you pay for, but it was also kind of like bar food, so you can't ask for much from a bar. Our server was also the bartender, even though we sat at a table. He was nice and friendly. Overall, an okay experience, but I don't think I'll be back too soon. read more

I do Innjoy this place during the summer. It has a nice comfortable outside eatery. The inside however, is loud for conversation, so its good for the couples that are trying to avoid eachother. The art work is pretty entertaining as well. During the weekdays they have specials, i think thursdays they have 2 for the price 1 appetizers. I like their calamari and then i get veggie platter with hummus for free! its a nice casual place to catch up with a friend and its dog friendly! Service is pretty good, however, when you first arrive, you have to make magic tricks to attract the staff to acknowledge that you are there. On several occasions i've said "excuse me" to a waitress and she zooms right by. RUDE! But once i get seated they do a pretty good job at your table. Overall, i recommend this place as a last minute "meet-up" with a friend. And sometimes the customers will be friendly especially when you bring your dog. read more

Never coming here again. I came here on a Wednesday for Ladies Night with a group of about 10 ladies because they advertised free manicures. I should have known something was up since this was the only bar on Division without a single person sitting in the outdoor patio. The TVs were all set on sports, which is fine for me but I imagine most women would not want to watch baseball at a bar on Ladies Night. The place was dead when I came in. We asked the waitress about the manicure and she said that the woman will "clean up" your nails for free but polish would be an extra charge. Okay, not what I expected but I can live with it. They had $3 well drinks after all. The waitress said the nail lady would be there in about an hour (this was maybe 5:45). While we were waiting we all ordered food and drinks. Burgers are your basic $5 bar burger. Tater tots were good and crispy. The waitress could not handle more than one drink order at a time it seemed and then she would disappear for 20 minutes. There was only one other table in the bar with two other patrons. One of the ladies with us ended up getting sick from the black bean burger. The rest of us were okay. I ended up leaving at 8PM and the manicurist NEVER showed up. I don't understand why you'd advertise this if they aren't going to show. And if she isn't going to show, it would have been nice if the waitress would have told us. She knew that was the whole reason we were there since we brought it up right when we sat down. Our waitress seemed really dim and bored. Not unfriendly, but I definitely got the feeling that she felt like we were wasting her time. Shame since we brought 10 people in an otherwise empty bar and we were drinking for hours. I live really close to here but even the drink specials won't get me back in there. read more

I love Innjoy so much, but I just got the urge up to write a review when I ate their burger yesterday. No wonder it was voted one of the top 30 burgers by Chicago Magazine. I'll be honest, I'm giving them a four star review based on one very wonderful experience that made up for some not so great experiences I've had at Innjoy. It's the kind of place you walk into and not know what you're going to get so take it case by case. I've had poor service, bad food and experienced unfriendly staff. Why do I return? Good drink and wing specials! Last visit there was a Thursday night when my roommate and I needed some beer so we headed to Innjoy for 1/2 off pitches (!). They have a pretty good draft offering and we enjoyed ourselves immensely. It also was 90's dance party night and after enjoying our fair share of said pitchers we were dancing to our requested nostalgia song choices. The guy taking requests was awesome and friendly and we left with nothing but warm fuzzies for the place. However, the next morning I realized I had left my wallet there. I rushed in after work that evening expecting nothing but to my surprise the same guy who had been there the night before had my wallet for me with everything still in it, down to the last dollar. So I understand that this has very little to do with the actual establishment but if you'ce ever been in a similar situation you understand how I can now have nothing but good things to say about the place. In summary, I can't say you'll have a guaranteed good time every time you go, but those awesome nights there will make up for any shitty ones. And I'm completely biased. read more

I have been numerous times and have never had a good time: service is slow and miserable and the guy working on the door makes you feel like he's doing you a massive favor letting you in - it would be more of a favor to be turned away and sent next door to Small Bar instead where the service is faster and friendlier. read more

I really want to like this place, and so I have gone back several times, but I'm ready to give up. The problem is that this place has a schizophrenic personality. The decor (tables, candles, fireplace) suggests a mellow vibe where you can sit with friends, talking and enjoying drinks and good food. Yet, they have a DJ that plays music so loud you'd think you were in a club. The end result: you can't actually talk to anyone but there's no where to dance. Came here for a 90s themed night and found the music to be a bit too loosely interpretive. No, 80s is not 90s. Early 2000s is not 90s. Nevertheless, much dancing occurred and so a good time was had by all. read more
