I wandered into Innovation Luggage today to just browse. I was very impressed with the presentation of sales associate Craig and the products in the store. I travel quite a bit and have rimowa luggage but I'm not crazy about the clamshell style. He showed me his Briggs and Riley luggage and demonstrated the features and explained the benefits. The lifetime warranty sounds like great value. He also showed me another Italian line of really nice super lightweight luggage. I was searching for a new 25" drag bag to replace my 20 year old, heavy one. Decided on the TravelPro Crew Versapack. Good enough for the professional airline crews, good enough for me! So I went to Macy's first based on pricing on Google but there was no one around with any expertise on luggage. I decided to check out Innovative Luggage just outside of Nordstroms 1st floor, a place I walked past many times over the years. I was greeted by Tony, the friendly store manager and went about my way looking at the selection of luggage on my own. There something to be said about being able to open bags, feeling the material for quality and looking closely at the corners, zippers and compartments. As far as the different lines of TravelPro, he broke it down to simply "Good, Better, Best" and encouraged me to look at the details and feel the difference. Their pricing was just about the same as the lowest prices online so I decided to make the purchase. That's where Tony really kicked in. He advised me to take a series of pictures... the luggage, receipts, warranty cards and lock instructions. He explained how the combo lock works and how TSA has the key. He told me to fill out the warranty card online using the photos I took. He even told me what info to write on the bag ID card and what info not to, and then showed me where to put it. I've been traveling for over 30 years but this little session was really helpful. Sometimes you just need to hear things in the simplest of terms, from an expert in their field. I'll definitely go back to see Tony for my next luggage/ accessories or back pack purchase. I liked the the cool little travel gadgets and travel games near the checkstand too (great for gifts!) Innovation luggage Hello everyone:   Over the years I've have purchased luggage from different sources. However, I must commit on my experience with Tony at  Innovation Luggage.   I tend to be a careful and informed shopper, so I visited Innovation Luggage several times. I also tend to be a brand-new loyalist. In talking this over with the Tony, the shop owner, he explained to me that the brand I was looking for had a buyback program. This program would allow me a one-hundred-dollar discount on my particular brand.   As I observed Tony and how he treated each customer, I was impressed by several things.   One, even if there were multiple persons in his store, he made sure to give them each individual attention, by saying I'll be right with you, here's that you may be interested in that type of bag.   Secondly, I observed him helping people understand what the better bag was in a particular brand even though the better bag's price was cheaper.   Thirdly, and as I purchased my luggage, two bags, he took the time to explain all the features that my new bags came with. My husband and I bought 2 suitcases from Innovation for an upcoming trip. The suitcases were what we had been looking for and cost about half the price of another store in Hillsdale Mall. Our salesperson, Tony, made sure we knew how to work the locks and had us take pictures of the suitcases with the receipt in case claims ever had to be made. I was looking for a small gift, like a pen(Cross) for my father, he showed me one but said it is used and there are no boxes, which bothers me. If it bothers me it would most likely bother my father. We were in the market for some new luggage for an upcoming international trip. Nadira was the one helping us initially a bit ago. Absolutely so sweet and knowledgeable about the different brands and gave us suggestions. We ended up buying 2 larger TravelPro suitcases and ordered another in the color I wanted. She was friendly and showed us all the bells and whistles with the bags. Very patient. Flash forward-I ended up hoping to exchange 1 of them for 2 smaller carry on's. Tony was working and is the one who kindly helped me with the exchange. As mentioned by the other reviewers, he also advised about the warranty, taking photos of the tags, etc. Another gentleman was in the store and we all had a good chuckle together. A nice environment. Listen, yes you can buy cheap luggage elsewhere, but you will be replacing it in a few years. This past Saturday, during shopping hours, the store was closed with no indication for the closure. Two days later, again during shopping hours, the store was closed. Called the posted store number and received a generic voicemail, with no store identification, stating leave a message. Mall management had no knowledge for the closure and indicated stores have an obligation to contact them should there be any issue so a window sign could be posted. I purchased a Samsonite suitcase here as a gift for my husband, while trying to shop local for the holidays. We used it for the first time on a short overnight trip in the car, and the zipper split open along one entire length of the suitcase, while it was literally just sitting in the trunk of the car on a slow drive in the snow. I was both embarrassed and disappointed that my gift was defective on its first use, so I brought it back to Innovation Luggage well within the 30 day return window. The man working there, the same one who sold me the suitcase initially, refused to return the defective item, despite the fact that I had all of the tags and my receipt, and he was completely unapologetic about it and rather rude to me. He said they only will return unused items, and that despite it being obviously totally defective, he could not help me with a return and only with a repair under warranty. I explained that I don't want a repair because I will never be able to trust that the suitcase won't split open again under heavy use at the airport, and that it is not a model I want at all considering that it failed the very first time used. It was very expensive btw, hundreds of dollars! He wouldn't budge. I will never come here again. As much as I want to support small businesses, had I returned a defective purchase to Amazon, Costco, Target, any department store, they would have refunded my hard earned money, no questions asked. This store gives small businesses a bad rap. read more
