I stopped by this store while visiting the Japanese supermarket next door, and I'm so glad I did! I recently started a new job where I walk over 15,000 steps a day, and my lower back and knees were starting to hurt. Kyle greeted me right away, listened to my needs, and patiently helped me try several HOKA models. He explained the differences between each pair without any pressure and made sure I found the right fit. I ended up buying the HOKA Bondi 9 Wide, and it feels amazing. He also told me they have a foot-scanning machine and more professional insoles available. I didn't try them this time, but I would definitely like to come back and try them next time. I could have bought the same shoes at REI or Sports Basement with my member discount, but I chose to buy them here because the service was so professional, patient, and thoughtful. Decided to branch out from my usual Sports Basement/REI for shoes and glad that I did. Yadira was super helpful - great customer service!

I went in to check out the clothing area and Kizik shoes my friend had told me about for travel. I did not intend to buy right now since the trip I wanted the shoes for isn't until August. I was warmly greeted by a few different associates. And then came Kyle -- He was attentive to me while I asked a lot of product information questions about the brand. I was amazed at how knowledgeable he was and more amazed that he had only worked there for a few months. He seemed like a very seasoned and well trained employee. I ended up buying a pair of Kizik's on the spot because of Kyle's fine service. I work in a retail store that sells shoes and I get a pretty handsome discount, so I don't often shoe shop at another store. But I was so wowed by Kyle's service that there was no way I would leave the store without purchasing from him. Did I mention he pulled up one of those low stools and helped me put on the shoes and made sure they fit properly. Who does that these days! Usually, they bring the shoes out, drop them at your feet and head off to do something else, only to return if you want to buy. There's a reason his business card says "Rockstar Sales Associate." This is my first visit to Footwear. After a visit with the doctor from Stanford Sports Medicine, who prescribed the type of shoe of 2 different brands and the type of insert from Footwear, I shopped there. From a list of Footwear store locations, it was convenient to go to the San Mateo one. The service that I received from Susan was exemplary which is why I am writing this review. The value of her expert knowledge was much appreciated. First, she checked the shoes that I was wearing then measured my feet properly. She explained that the shoe length had much space and the width was fine. She recommended that the new shoes again be from men's shoes due to the width but a size smaller. She inquired of color preferences then returned with several options. She put in the prescribed inserts, laced the ties then recommended that I walk around the store. When I reported that I still felt the arthritic pain, she came up with a solution. She laced them crosswise but did a vertical lacing where I had felt discomfort. Perfect solution! I walked all around the store and the pain had subsided. From my experience, I was so relieved that my discomfort had been resolved. Thank you Susan for your attentive care. I don't typically write reviews but after my experience at Footwear etc, I felt the need to. Absolutely fantastic service by German. I walked in to look at Birkenstocks and was unsure about size and fit. German took my measurements, brought out a few sizes for me to try on and explained how the sizing works for Birkenstocks. The experience that stuck out to me most was how professional and respectful German was. As I was trying the size of shoes, German would step back and give me personal space to try them on while staying close by to answer any questions. It did not feel like I was pressured and felt like I could take my time ensuring I felt comfortable trying on the shoes to find my fit. There was also a free 3D foot scan German assisted me with and helped me find my shoe size, arch and it offered recommendations for which socks and shoes would fit my foot profile. Overall I felt this store has a very welcoming environment and staff are there to truly help you find a comfortable shoe rather than pushing sales upon you. Very good shoe selection and value. My wife and I have stopped by this shop twice and both times left with warm vibes and great shoes! Shout out to August being the best customer rep both times for us - we went to check out Hokas with little idea of how a shoe store should help you with shoes because we're so used to Macys or Nordstroms kind of leaving you to fend for yourself. Let me tell you if you have any questions about the types of shoes or soles or even your shoe size this is THE place to shop. We have never had such good service! Both times August measured our feet to ensure proper shoe size and brought out a good amount of shoes for us to try. We told her what we needed (walking shoes and then waterproof shoes the second time) and were blown away by the level of service and knowledge dropped on us! The value was great as we got $20 off after our first purchase which we used towards our second purchase. 10/10 store let alone shoe store! Love this shoe store. It's my go-to place to shop for all kinds of shoes that I can actually wear comfortably and look fashionable at the same time. I get my walking shoes, athletic shoes, dress shoes, boots, and sandals here. I also get my socks here, insoles for my shoes, and I even got my hat here that I wear all the time in the sun. Quality shoes, reputable brands and fair prices for what you get. They also have a sale and clearance section at this store in the back so check out that area. They also carry some clothing but I haven't bought any clothing here yet. The staff is very knowledgeable and professional. Sign up to be on their email list and you earn points for shopping there and get discounts and rewards. I need good arch support and good shoes to prevent plantar fasciitis, and I have slight bunions. This place offers a variety of shoes that help my feet and enable me to walk well. First time coming into this store, and I was immediately greeted by friendly and bubbly staff. They do well to maintain the store, whilst giving wonderful customer service. I was helped by Savannah, Sam & August. I really want to say they are warm-hearted and kind staff. They were absolutely amazing at helping me with my needs, and their way of taking initiative to problem-solve was impressive. They hold qualities of great sales people such as empathy & efficiency all with a genuine smile on their face. I have been using the Aetrex Harley as my slippers and they give me the arch support, cushion and comfort that I needed. I was wearing regular slippers or going barefoot around the house and I was experiencing foot pain. The Aetrex Harley has helped me with my foot pain tremendously. Interestingly, I have had very good service at this shoe store in the past, I work across the street at another local business and have had very good customer service in the past. Yesterday I walked in on what appeared to be an ugly argument between the checkout counter and another customer, so that may have been an impact on the service I got, but not sure. I have bought shoes here lately for the last two or three years, when I could have bought them online for possibly cheaper. I like to be loyal to local businesses to try to keep them in business, but I felt like my Quirk was fairly short with me and not very explanatory. He did order me the orthotics I requested him to order for the price I expected them to be, but when I request requested information on my $20 loyalty discount on shoes that I had previously awarded, he stated it had now disappeared. The last time I was in the store, which was Few months ago, I was told that I had a year to use the same credit. Not sure if I will come back again if the people who help customers here are short and Kurt with me. I know he was trying to help, but it was a difficult experience for me. read more

I came in looking for narrow width shoes or sandals. They don't carry narrow widths in the store (other than Nordstrom and online, very hard to find). The sales people are very knowledgeable about the brands and styles and were able to indicate which items might work for a slim foot. I didn't try any shoes on, but my son did. Although he did not purchase any, I was very impressed with the knowledge and patience of the personnel there. My significant other and I were waiting with our friends to get called in to the restaurant next door, when one of our friends mentioned she purchased comfortable shoes at Footwear Etc. My significant other has been in need of casual dress shoes, so after lunch, we decided to check out Footwear Etc. When we entered the store, someone came within minutes to greet us and offer assistance, which we responded we were just looking around. The associates respected our response and did not hover around us while we looked around. The shoes here are high quality comfort shoes, and there is good selection for both men and women. After checking out the whole store, my significant other found these Samuel Hubbard shoes he really liked. We called over an associate who helped get two different sizes to try on for best fit. I rarely give a one star review. I have been here several times, the previous timer for all amazing I got the help I needed, and the service was really great. Yesterday, I walked in and wanted to ask about the rewards program. Since I purchased two pairs of shoes, previously, and the gentleman who sold the shoes to me explain that, there will be a $20 reward. I ordered another pair of shoes online, but I was not able to access my rewards account. I decided to go into the store and try to figure out if the shoes I bought online qualifies for the $20 reward , and also was curious in checking out other colors of the same shoes. After talking to the staff that was there yesterday morning, she abruptly ended the conversation and said she had to help her customers.
