We arrived by medical transport and, from the moment we entered the Emergency Department, we were greeted with kindness, professionalism, and compassion. The security staff welcomed us warmly, and the receptionist greeted us with a smile that immediately put us at ease during a very stressful time. I would also like to recognize the registration representative who assisted us during our visit. Even while handling the administrative and insurance aspects of our care, she was patient, kind, professional, and reassuring. Families arriving at an emergency department are often worried and overwhelmed, and her willingness to help made us feel supported from the start. To our surprise, there was virtually no wait time. We were brought into a room almost immediately, and the quality of care we received was outstanding. Nurses Jasmine, RN, and Susana, RN, were compassionate, attentive, and professional throughout the visit. They treated my elderly mother with dignity, respect, and patience, ensuring she was comfortable every step of the way. We were especially grateful for Dr. David Kruse. Dr. Kruse was thorough, knowledgeable, kind and genuinely compassionate. He carefully reviewed my mother's extensive medical history, recent surgeries, rehabilitation stay, and prior hospitalizations. He performed a comprehensive examination and ensured every necessary precaution was taken to rule out infection, pneumonia, and other serious concerns. His calm demeanor, attention to detail, and concern for my mother's well-being gave us tremendous peace of mind. At the end he even brought her a syringe and distilled water so she can get hydrated through the feeding tube. In addition, my phone's battery was dead. He personally took my phone to charge it. Not many doctors nowadays do these acts of kindness. I wish doctors are taught more and more compassion, kindness and empathy. Bed side manners are extremely important not only in the hospital setting but also in the emergency room and doctor's offices. I would also like to thank the two radiology professionals who came directly to my mother's room to perform her X-rays. They treated her with kindness and respect throughout the process. My mother has endured months of hospitalizations, surgery, rehabilitation, and numerous medical appointments, and moving an elderly patient can be difficult and uncomfortable. Their gentle, patient approach was another example of the excellent care we experienced during our visit. Before we left, Derrick kindly assisted my mother into a wheelchair with patience, professionalism, and genuine care. His kindness did not go unnoticed and was greatly appreciated. I would also like to mention that this was not our first visit to the Reston Hospital Emergency Department. Over the years, and especially during my mother's recent health challenges, we have experienced emergency room visits involving long waits, extended delays, and admissions where we remained in the Emergency Department for hours awaiting placement or a shift change. We understand that hospitals are busy and that emergency departments face tremendous demands every day. What made this visit different was the remarkable efficiency, teamwork, professionalism, and compassion shown by Dr. Kruse and the entire team caring for my mother. From arrival to discharge, every person we encountered treated us with respect, empathy, and genuine concern. They saw not just a patient, but an elderly mother and a daughter doing everything possible to care for her at home. Over the past several months, my mother has endured multiple emergency room visits, surgery, hospitalization, and rehabilitation. As her daughter and caregiver, there have been many moments of exhaustion, uncertainty, and worry. During this visit, the staff gave us something we desperately needed: reassurance, confidence, and hope. My mother is a retired teacher who has lived in Fairfax County for more than 40 years. Throughout her life, she dedicated herself to educating students, volunteering, and serving this community. Seeing her receive such thoughtful care meant more to our family than words can express. Dr. Kruse and his team have earned a loyal supporter in our family. Thank you to Dr. David Kruse, Jasmine, RN, Susana, RN, Derrick, the radiology staff, the registration representative, the receptionist, the security staff, and the entire Reston Hospital Emergency Department team for providing outstanding care during a difficult time. Your professionalism, kindness, and dedication will not be forgotten. With heartfelt gratitude, PK Fairfax County Resident and Daughter of a Grateful Patient

My hand became very red, had a burning sensation, and felt unusually dry, so I wanted to have it evaluated to make sure it wasn't a more serious burn. When I arrived, the emergency room was essentially empty. A security guard checked me in because no one was at the front desk, and I was eventually taken to a room by a nurse. While waiting for the physician, I stood at the sink running cool water over my hand for relief. The doctor eventually came in, looked at my hand from a distance, joked by asking if I had been "cooking something delicious," and said I'd be out soon to enjoy my dinner. The interaction felt brief and did not leave me feeling like my injury was thoroughly evaluated. Before I left, a nurse applied a light dressing and loosely wrapped my hand. During my visit, a senior nurse personally escorted us out because another patient who had previously been treated had returned upset and caused a disturbance that required local police to respond. I appreciated the staff taking precautions to ensure everyone's safety during that situation. The biggest disappointment came afterward when I received a bill for more than $5,000. Based on the explanation of benefits and billing information I received, my visit was billed at a very high emergency department level, despite my injury being a minor hand burn that required only a brief evaluation and a simple bandage. As a patient, this was difficult to understand, especially given that the emergency room was nearly empty and my care did not feel consistent with such a high level of service. The nurses were kind and professional throughout my visit, but the overall experience left me questioning both the value of the care I received and the resulting charges. I would encourage anyone considering an ER visit for a minor injury to understand the potential costs beforehand if they have other appropriate options available.

I went to the recovery room after the surgery woke up in pain and the staff provided pain meds. Shortly ZI was brought up to my room. The day nurse started the process for my blood infusion. They did not do the same verification process that was done for earlier transfusions. The nurse did not stay in the room to check for any potential reaction. Layer she came in and said it was done snd disconnected it. At shift changeover an hour later, the night nurse noticed the blood bag was not completed. The night nurse confronted the day nurse about it. (in front of me) The night nurse decided to reconnect the blood to my IV. no alcohol swab was noticed bring used on the connections snd I was not sure if the blood bag had been hanging there for an hour if it was still OK. I was not consulted or asked. I clearly see the lack of effective communication between doctors, nurses, technicians, staff and the patients. There is a dry erase board in the room to ensure important info is passed and noted. NOT BEING USED. It is not kept up to date with progress, plans or goals. Even the doctors names are wrong. It appears that the patient is not included in the process and communication between the staff does not happen. No one has the complete picture of the planned care, for now or future. They need help with cross communication and statistical documenting patient progress. The care is good, but the patient has to be involved to make sure there is s complete picture. If you come here (Stone Springs Hospital) for services, you must stay engaged for your own good!!!

She was first taken to another hospital, where the plan was to put her under anesthesia to reset her shoulder. Because she had a life-threatening reaction to anesthesia about 10 years ago, when she flatlined during surgery, we were extremely hesitant. Combined with the circumstances there, we decided to take her to Fairfax Hospital. That decision led us to Dr. Titus Park and his incredible team, and we are so thankful it did. From the moment we arrived, Dr. Park had a clear plan that did not involve anesthesia. He immediately put our entire family at ease with his calm confidence, compassion, and professionalism. My daughter was in excruciating pain--a true 10 out of 10. She asked one of the nurses if she would pray with her, and without hesitation, she kindly did. That simple act of kindness meant more than words can express. When Dr. Park successfully put her shoulder back into place, the relief was immediate. My daughter looked him in the eyes and said, "I could just kiss you!" It was such a heartfelt expression of gratitude because her pain was instantly gone. What also stood out was Dr. Park's wonderful bedside manner. Even in the middle of a stressful situation, he found a way to make us smile. He asked my two daughters, now both in their late 30s, which one was my favorite and which one had been the cutest baby. They both immediately raised their hands and looked at me, and I just turned my head. We all burst into laughter. It was exactly the kind of lighthearted moment our family needed. Dr. Park and his entire team turned an unbearable situation into a bearable one through their exceptional medical care, kindness, compassion, and genuine concern for both their patient and her family. We will never forget the care we received. Thank you, Dr. Park and your amazing team, for giving our daughter relief and giving our family peace of mind. We are forever grateful.

Unfortunately, the ER experience is no better; the priority is clearly "patient turnover" rather than "patient wellness." Every visit follows the same script: Urgent Care dismisses us with ineffective antibiotics for a supposed ear infection, and the ER rushes to discharge us without investigating the underlying cause. The staff is increasingly irritable, and the doctors seem to rely on snap judgments rather than diagnostic testing. It feels like the Hippocratic Oath has been traded for the bottom line. We aren't here for fun; we are here for help that we aren't receiving.

I've gone through two separate primary care doctors just to get the referral--both were approved by my insurance. I've filled out piles of paperwork, completed their long online questionnaires, and submitted every document they asked for. Despite doing everything right, they still won't schedule the appointment. Every time I call to follow up (which I've had to do over and over), they come up with some new excuse to delay or deny my care. First, they said they needed to contact my pulmonologist. What if I didn't even have one? Then they demanded EKG results from the past six months--what if I've never had an EKG? Are they going to deny me care for that too? It's obvious they're inventing hoops for patients to jump through just to cover themselves. I've had major medical procedures in the past that never required this level of documentation or bureaucracy. What they're doing is not just frustrating--it's outright denial of care. I even got my insurance company on a three-way call with them to confirm everything was approved, and the insurance rep told them directly that I was cleared to proceed. They still refused to schedule the appointment. To top it all off, their call center is outsourced to the Philippines, staffed with people who barely speak English, are rude, untrained, and totally incompetent. There is zero follow-up, no accountability, and no one actually trying to help the patient. This is healthcare at its absolute worst. Avoid this office like the plague. If you value your time, your sanity, or your health--go somewhere else.

Not to mention the birth control was inappropriate in the first place as she sold it as part of solution to a problem it does not solve. I had side effects immediately and had to switch doctors, who then questioned why she even chose that procedure as it was a bad choice and not the cure. I was in so much pain during the procedure as she was so aggressive with the insertion. With an aggressive tone, she basically told me to shut up and not express my pain. Then she came so close to my face as I was in pain and tears and made a hand gesture half an inch from my face with the following statement: "I don't like whining. Two pet peeves of mine: Whining and Chewing gum. If I ever hear someone chew gum I want to take my hand and snatch it out of their mouth". I was disgusted and shocked by her behavior. Sick. Best part? during the procedure I asked her to stop and that I did not want the birth control device because I was in such much pain, she FORCED it inside me, despite me saying no. Forget about men harming women. I felt so violated with this person who calls herself a "medical professional". She's horrible, not just as a doctor, but even as a human being. Medical professionals should be a lot more kind and not aggressive. Someone should spray perfume in her face, and keep spraying it if she resists... see how she likes it. When a patient says no, it's a no. Doing that would be super small in comparison to what she did to me. Kaiser needs to teach their doctors what consent is. Someone needs to teach her about human boundaries. Filing a complaint with Kaiser is useless they're just going to turn the blind eye. Best is to report to medical board, which I'm strongly considering doing. This doctor is disgusting. She also has this terrible habit of rolling her eyes. I happened to run into her months after this incident, because I stopped seeing her ofcourse, and she rolled her eyes. I believe in karma and one day her eyes might just get stuck up there while she's busy rolling them. She should be more careful with such things.
