Doctors are excellent but controlled so this is a review of the practice as an all-mighty dollar…read morebusiness entity which affects the quality and type of care. Oh, let me mention, I've just been notified that my local medical office in Lovettsville USA is being closed down by the Leesburg Sterling Family Practice mothership for financial reasons (missing its numbers perhaps). Bottom line is that business like this are focused on maximizing revenue and contribution goals to the "practice" than the patient and the local community healthcare needs. The doctors are now employees under these business structures (with their 9-5 workdays and kickass 401ks) and answer to what the funding source (their management) demands and controls. Hey doc-in-the-box sign these Non-disclosures to ensure you don't stray from the corporate playbook and the big Pharma sales pitches. And if you're Medicare, consider yourselves safe, forget LSFP as an option and my message all together, since seniors need not apply and belong in a third world clinic anyhoot. Folks in Lovettsville are witnessing these keen eye on revenue goals with the closure of this office because, as the email states, it's due to "financial challenges" due to the increasing costs to operate as an "independent medical office" (really, independent?, that lends to an oxymoron you employee-doctor). Following guidance from O'Hanrahan the accountant and LSFP concluded that consolidation is the answer and maximize patient counts and wait times coupled with a good drive allows for inner reflection and self healing. Or is really about pulling the numbers and matching the billing code that maximizes revenues for practice contributions (can't call it profit -- right you kinda like non-profit business entity)? By the way, certain billing codes need not apply. Come on, rather than bringing medical services to the community, the community must now travel to the medical service wherever it may be and a little reflection on a long drive is like a spoonful of big Pharma medicine. Dare I mention now, only if you have a qualifying plan, so call before you go, since there are only six insurance plans accepted. Other plans need not apply. But wait!.. with the right plan and age and pharma gullibility, you still have a choice of five LSFP facilities to inconveniently travel to; and get there early for the free toaster! Maybe not a toaster, unwrapped sausages in a can perhaps? Doctors seem to be focused on trends and administrative checkboxes and counts to satisfy the folks that sign their paychecks and approve their leave rather than individual patient care or well-being. By the way Lovettsville town people, if there's another game in town (or not), my email states that Leesburg Sterling Family Practice will wrap up my medical records in a bow and ribbon to take somewhere else. Didn't state at no additional cost though and no bow or ribbon. Uh-oh, my bad, I just realized, there ain't no Love Et al in the Leesburg Sterling Family Practice sales pitch! Duh, that's the real bottom line. Fare thee well, Dr. M. from the Lovettsville not so independent practice. Patients need not abide.

For a business centered around assisting sick individuals and delivering critical test results,…read morethis office should be absolutely ashamed of themselves. I received a call where my test results were read to me incorrectly -- results that were inconsistent with what was listed in their own online portal. I was given two different sets of wrong information, and when I understandably became upset, the woman on the phone disconnected the call. At no point did I use profanity. Yes, I raised my voice -- but only out of understandable frustration. Of all places, a doctor's office should be able to show empathy toward patients during such vulnerable moments. Shame on you. I sincerely hope these calls are recorded, because if they are, leadership should listen carefully to the cold, blanket, and heartless way your staff speaks to patients. On top of that, it was completely inappropriate that the doctor who ordered the tests tried to downplay potential positive results, brushing them off as "not a big deal." That was not her place. As a patient, it is my right to have my results taken seriously and to receive appropriate, compassionate guidance -- not to be minimized or dismissed. You have no idea what someone is going through outside your office walls, and to be treated with such dismissiveness and cruelty by people we pay to trust with our health is appalling. You read me my test results without offering any follow-up guidance, reassurance, or even basic human kindness. You were mean, cold, and unprofessional.

Her response: Moira has only seen you once (incorrect) and nothing has changed. What is the point of going to an urgent care that is in the same medical group as your PCP if you are not able to see certain providers because your PCP is part of the same group?

When I called to inquire about walk-in availability, the male receptionist who answered sounded as if he was half-asleep and was very difficult to understand. The whole interaction felt unnecessarily rude and unprofessional. To top it off, right as I was wrapping up the call and saying "okay thank you," he hung up on me before I even finished my sentence. That lack of basic courtesy left a really negative impression. Again, I have no complaints about the doctors or the actual care, but the attitude of the person answering the phones makes a huge difference in how patients perceive the office. First impressions matter, and this one was disappointing.

I have been a patient at LSFP for 25 years. This practice is a shadow of what it once was. The…read moredecline has been gradual, but steady, and has reached a point where I can't recommend avoiding this practice enough. Appointments now consist of basic questions and exams that barely touch the service of issues. My last physical didn't even include a hernia exam, and I'm a 39 year old male with a history of hernias. The nurse practitioners they have on staff are under-qualified at best. The front desk staff are rude, and the intake nurses are also unprofessional. This practice has lost any idea of what customer service means and seems to now be an appointment mill that bills your insurance for telling you to buy some Motrin and get some bed rest. Today was the last straw for us. My wife recently gave birth naturally and our OBGYN recommended we see our PCP for a referral for physical therapy for a month from now to help get her back on her feet and speed her recovery. We called and scheduled an appointment for this specific purpose with the front desk who confirmed that they could give a referral for PT. After waiting for an hour, my wife was seen by a family nurse practitioner that took her temperature and blood pressure, checked her height and weight, eyes and ears, and listened to her breathing. Then, without any examination of her pelvic floor muscles, said that PT 'wasn't indicated' at this time and we should come back for another appointment after our 6 week checkup with our OBGYN for ANOTHER appointment. She explained that we had been sent by the OBGYN to get a referral but the FNP refused to issue the referral and sent her packing. I went in to address this with the front desk and they gave me the run-around, then brought out a 'provider' who first said she had seen my wife but after having me explain the whole situation told me she was just the intake nurse, then asked me to re-explain the situation, then laughed when I said I didn't want to explain myself again and wanted to talk to the actual nurse that had seen my wife. All in all it was a nice hour and fifteen minutes absolutely wasted by the front desk and clinical staff because of their inability to listen and/or be upfront about what services they are willing and able to provide. To LSFP - if you can not or will not offer a service then perhaps your front desk staff shouldn't confirm the appointment for it. Your practice used to be great, and now it is a terrible place to go for care and competent customer service. I've had better customer service at McDonald's. Your front desk staff especially leaves a lot to be desired in the professionalism department. 25 years as a patient and I have never been treated the way I was treated today. We won't be back. Get it together.

I missed an appointment because my grandfather is in the hospital with a broken neck and my husband has cancer. Between managing the two, life happened and I dropped the ball. The office charged me the $50 missed appointment fee with no communication. When the office called to reschedule, the front desk person and I went back and forth, and I was given nothing but attitude and told, "You can't talk to anyone, you have to send an email." I said that was ridiculous in the year 2026. I was met with more attitude, and I replied, "You don't have to give me f***ing attitude for my opinion." Yes, that was wrong of me, and I lost my professionalism. Life has you wound tight when your husband is dying. The response I received the next day from the office manager was, "You signed paperwork agreeing to our policies." I absolutely did. However, I would hope a medical office that diagnosed my husband's condition would have some compassion. A continuation of this lack of compassion, sympathy, and empathy from this office happened when their old PA left. My husband and I had appointments scheduled with her months in advance. When I called to make the appointments, I specifically asked for that PA by name. On the day of the appointment, their new PA walked in. When we questioned it, we were simply handed a piece of paper displayed on the top shelf in the room explaining that the old PA had moved and left the office. So, if you love surprises and only being able to communicate through email when you have a grievance, along with a front desk staff that shows no compassion while you're going through the hardest medical experience of your life, this is the office for you.

I was going to have my blood pressure checked every two weeks. No one mentioned this was a side effect of the medication until I looked it up myself. Additionally, My Husband complained of having gout flareups, and he was told we need to focus on the blood pressure first then we can deal with other issues. Turns out it was the blood pressure medication flaring up his gout. It took four other specialist to confirm that the medication he was prescribed from the PA at Vita was the culprit. Not once was that acknowledged in his appointments that were every two weeks. The last straw was my last appointment when I was overcharged by $100 for my appointment. My insurance company was trying to call the front desk to ask why they were charging me when it should be zero dollars, while I was in exam room and no one was answering. I could hear people outside, so I opened the door and spoke to three employees sitting at a desk right there. They said no one was answering because it's lunchtime. I said the insurance company is trying to get a hold of you because I was overcharged $100 for today's visit. The person standing there was shocked that that's what I paid, and they said they would make a note and look into it later. It took almost a week for Vita to get back to us about this mistake and refund us. They tell you to communicate through the portal if you have any questions but every time they just write back and tell you to make an appointment to speak to the PA or the doctor. Unless you sign up for their special plan, your appointments are limited to 15 minutes. Not once was, I asked to have a physical. It was always we're gonna deal with your blood pressure first and then deal with the other things. If I wanted to talk about anything other topic than BP, I had to make a separate appointment. I decided to get second opinions and overall some of the other options I was considering at Vita, and the self-pay medication's were $200 more per dose than the doctors office I decided to change to, for the same product. Overall, this was not a great experience and not a great fit for us.

Scheduling is all online, through her very informative website. While some may see that as a negative, I see that as a positive, especially when looking at the cost of service. I am paying a low, preset fee to see the doctor. I am not also paying for a receptionist, an insurance billing specialist, and a nurse. I pay my $90, I send the bill to my insurance myself and I save a ton of money. Dr. Walsh does not have a receptionist or nurses. When I go see her, I see HER from start to finish, instead of passing through various people to get a hurried 10 minutes of time with a physician. Contacting her is also easier, because I don't have to go through multiple layers to get to her. You know how it usually goes....call the office, leave a message for the doctor, get a call back from the nurse, explain everything to the nurse, who will then discuss it with the doctor, only to get a call back from the nurse saying the doctor wants you to come in. Ugh. With Dr. Walsh, I email her directly, and she either emails or calls me back in hours, not days. If she can help without coming in to see her, she will. She is not in it for the cash. Dr. Walsh does not have back up doctors. This means you are never confronted with a total stranger if something happens. My niece had a rather unpleasant experience with a cyst, and not only did Dr. Walsh come into the office on a Sunday night to take care of it, she even offered to go to my niece if she couldn't drive herself. No backup doctor would do that. Actually, unless you are having a baby, no regular or backup doctor does anything after hours, you go to the ER with all the other injured/sick people. Dr. Walsh doesn't have a thousand patients. This allows her time to keep tabs on things like prescription prices, and where and how to get the best deal. Did you know that sometimes, it is cheaper to pay out of pocket instead of insurance? Neither did I, until she told me that my $35 inhaler through insurance was $12.50 at Costco if I didn't use my insurance. Copays are tricksy and she knows where you can get the best price. Because she keeps her patient list small, she knows her patients. Really KNOWS them... she doesn't need to look in my chart to know why I see her or what is going on. She knows my name, my history, my family, and all the other aspects that you learn about people you know. This is only part of why she is an excellent physician. And here is the really important part....she really is an excellent physician. She knows her stuff and she will take good care of you. You will feel cared for, not rushed through an antibiotics cattle call. If you are looking for a practice with lots of warm bodies to pay attention to you, then this isn't the practice for you. If you are looking for excellent medical care from a wonderful physician, you won't find better than Dr. Walsh.
