The walls of Insadong Restaurant are adorned with trinkets and souvenirs reminiscent of Insadong, a place celebrated for its vibrant traditional Korean culture, arts, and crafts. Just like its namesake, this restaurant offers an inviting atmosphere and cuisine that appeals to non-Koreans, or waeguk as we'd say in Korean. The menu selections and the minimal use of spices in the food make it approachable for all. When we visited on a Saturday afternoon, my family was the only one with ethnic Korean heritage. We tried the bulgogi, a dish of marinated grilled beef, which was tender and flavorful, and the jjajangmyeon, noodles served in a rich black bean sauce that was both savory and satisfying. Overall, Insadong Restaurant is definitely a strong option if you're in the neighborhood. Plus, it's gentle on the wallet.

We dropped in for an impromptu Korean dinner after catching a show nearby on a Saturday night. The smallish restaurant was nearly full of good mix of korean and non korean diners and we were lucky enough to snag the last table without a reservation. We were 2 food loving adults and 1 picky kid and ordered rice cake soup and a communal army stew. Banchans were 3 simple veg dishes and their fresh (not fermented yet) kimchi was possibly the best I've had in any korean resto in Toronto. I do not make this statement lightly. The two ladies working the restaurant were very accommodating and sweet. We knew we would have leftovers when we ordered our meal and I was super happy to have an almost large container full of the army stew to take home for the next day. The rice cake soup was beefy yet light. The army stew was out of this world good with proper beans and a slice of processed cheese on top of the ramen noodle. The stew was packed with tons of spam, hot dog slices, tofu, baked beans, soy bean sprouts and the broth was light and flavourful. It was tad too spicy for my hubby but the spice level was properly korean to me. The only bad thing about this resto is that it is so far from home for me that I would not be coming back any time soon. But you can be sure that I WILL be back to try out their other offerings when I am in the area again. JAL-MUK-UHT-SSEUP-NI-DA!

Very authentic Korean food at an affordable price. Appears to be family run and service is very prompt and the server was kind enough to explain the menu and also guided on how best to enjoy the food.. what to and how to mix etc. Ambience is decent.. clean Parking is in the back area of the restaurant.

Ordered takeaway and was happy with how quickly they prepared the order. The food was packaged nicely and kept hot until I returned home. The meal came with banchan of Kimchi, pickled cucumber and potato and was a nice addition. The tonkatsu portion was nice but tasted average (definitely needed the sauce for extra flavour). The dumpling soup had a good amount of dumplings (5) and lots of rice cakes. It's cooked with egg and seaweed on the broth. I found it a little too salty...perhaps because of the seaweed? Overall I will probably return to try some of the other dishes!

Very friendly place has a mom and pop feel to it. Tried the spicy rice cakes along with their seafood hotpot for two. The hotpot came with clams, mussels, shrimp, octopus, crab and a big clam on the middle along with tofu and other vegetables. It also came with all the traditional Korean side dishes like kimchi. The hotpot came with udon noodles and enoki mushrooms on the side for us to put into the broth after we eaten some of it. I would recommend giving this place a try prices were fair

Food Rating: 3.5* I was looking forward to trying this restaurant as it was highly rated by Deb P. and I trust her reviews of Asian restaurants, more specifically Korean ones. Having lived the past 3 years in the Yonge and Lawrence area, I was never too far away from a good Korean restaurant. That's no longer the case being back in Mississauga. There are Korean restaurants in the area but I feel like it doesn't compare to the ones in North York and Thornhill. The one that I miss the most is Ahzimae ZipBap. So when we were looking for a Korean restaurant and this one showed up, we were hopeful when we looked at the reviews. This place is still a bit far in Etobicoke but it was a lot closer than driving to North York. Finding the parking lot can be tricky since you need to take the narrow driveway located by a mural, besides the Dollarama parking lot. Once, in the back, there's a few available parking spaces. You can enter from the back as well as the front of the restaurant. The restaurant is not very big and a bit narrow. It has a few larger tables at the back while the smaller tables are located in the front. We decided to order the Jeyuk Bokkeum, Gamjatang, Ugeojiguk and Donkatsu. The food arrived promptly but we found the taste to be above average. I think the best dish was the Ugeojiguk. The worst was the Gamjatang. The main issue with the dish was the broth as it wasn't as rich as other restaurants. Although they gave you generous portions of the Pork bone, the meat was not very tender. My daughter didn't like the Jeyuk Bokkeum and Donkatsu but my wife and I thought it was good. Service was minimal but prompt. The food came fairly quickly and when asked for something, they delivered quickly. This place is worth a visit but I think I have been spoiled by Ahzimae ZipBap. #15 of 2019

I got the Haemul Jeongol - Assorted seafood hot pot with 2 bowls of rice & udon in noodles. A reasonably priced meal for 2 ($35) with generous portions and lots of leftovers. Service was really great. The waitress was friendly and even went over to my table to check when the hot pot was ready to eat. Asking for side dish refills was no issue. Like most Korean restaurants, the ambience was quite grim and dingy. Maybe a few brighter lights would liven the place up. But no biggie since I was there for the food

    Bibimbap

Great authentic food and service. The bibimbap was very tasty. So werethe Tangsuyuk, Dokboki are ery authentic. Very similar to the ones we had in Seoul.

Lovely casual dinner. Warm and fulfilling! Would recommend the hotpot -- presentation was quite majestic with the raw squid on top~ Nice place beside Kipling Station. Great for a home-y meal before/after travelling Toronto. Would recommend!

Insadong is a brand new Korean restaurant in the Etobicoke area that I was lucky enough to try out shortly after its grand opening. I was born in Korea and formerly lived in the Yonge & Finch area (New Koreatown), so I like to think that I have relatively high standards when it comes to Korean cuisine. And even by my (self-proclaimed) high standards, Insadong does not disappoint. I ordered the Donkatsu (deep fried pork cutlet) and tried a piece of the Jae Yuk (spicy marinated pork), and I have to say, both were phenomenal in their own right. The Donkatsu was cooked to perfection and tender like you wouldn't believe. Furthermore, I'm not the biggest fan of spicy food, but even I could appreciate the flavour and kick of the spicy pork dish. I'm thinking of bringing my parents to this place for a family dinner next time I get the chance, and they're even more picky about authentic Korean food than I am. Next time you're in the area kraving for Korean, give this place a try!

I was starting to get really hangry and irritated after walking around the city all day. We started with Korean beer and shots of Jinro Is Back Soyu. It was a good idea. Overall the food was quite good. I recommend everyone to check this restaurant out for themselves. The Korean pancake with seafood and vegetables was huge and much crispier than the one I've tried before. My beef tartare bibimbap was perfect. Just thinking about it makes me want to have it right now. The sizzling hot plate with pork and squid also looked very impressive. It must have been delicious as well, because one of my companions ate the whole thing with no problem. The spicy shredded beef brisket stew/soup 'Yukgaejang' was something which i wouldn't survive, but my man finished everything to the last drop. Hence we entered Jin Dai Lae. Good decision (yes, I am patting my back). Entree pricing was $3 to $4 lower than Markham/Richmond Hill. Portion was so big that you would be full, and might have to doggy bag. Most importantly, food tasted good. Short ribs stew had many pieces of beef. Squids hot plate was saucy. It wasn't too spicy, so it was good for me (menu didn't have a chilli sign either). For people who like it hot, you can ask for some chilli sauce.
