I have seen this cool carpet mountain my whole life and was so excited to have my kids try a lesson when I saw a deal pop up on living social. I think it's very expensive regularly ($70 a lesson), but half price seemed like a good deal. I took my four kids to a lesson and was soooo disappointed. The person running the operation was very disorganized and spent half the time I paid for helping other people check in or out while he was supposed to be teaching my daughter. He was grumpy and was not into teaching her at all. We tried to say something about how the other kids had gotten more time with a coach and way more "runs" but he got very defensive and treated us very rudely. I was seriously bummed after waiting so many years to try this. I'd say since it's the same price or more then a lift ticket, take a chance on a real mountain instead. read more

I bought a Groupon for one class. The person who answers the phone who I believe is the owner (Kent, or something like that), told me that if I needed to cancel or re-schedule I had to call 48 hours before the class. I called them and left a message that I needed to re-schedule because something came up. I called 48 HOURS BEFORE the class. Then, the same person who I talked before, called me back saying that I called in late however, he was going to OPEN AN EXCEPTION because I called MINUTES BEFORE the 48 hours expired?! Really...He gave me the hardest time. He was so rude. I was really upset. Horrible customer service! I ended up cancelling the class and getting my money back from Groupon. Be careful because they take a CC number in case people don't call to cancel or re-schedule before 48 hours of the class. read more

Wanted my kids to learn snowboarding before going for spring break. It was helpful for technique and conditioning. It is the only way to "practice" and enjoy while you're vacation instead of learning on vacation. I did it to teach them to ski 3 years ago and now for boarding and would do it again. Giving only 3 stars because the mgr over explains things and it was hard to schedule with them. read more

The owner (a short older guy) berated this really nice blonde kid who was working there when I went to sign up. I watched aghast and cringing. The kid was twice his size and should have beat the old man senseless for the way he treated him. I walked away. He is a BULLY and will never receive a penny of my money ever. I am in Colorado right now for a SKI & SNOWBOARDING trip, this is the first time I was going to be in the snow so one of my friends suggested me to take a few lessons in this school before our trip, so I did take my first two SKI lessons on Decembre 24 and one more on Monday 26th 2016, ($180 × 3 lessons) my instructor was SHAIDEN, I coulnt have a better one, he was very patient, clear, kind and friendly, I did great at skiing, everything he taught me was exactly what I needed, also Kent the owner was very kind and helpful. Highly experienced instructors who are all very friendly. Some folks (like my husband) only needed 3 classes to get the whole snowboarding thing down. I needed 7... I had the first 3 many years ago and then 4 more this past week. Let's face it, many of us probably don't go enough to the snow to really get good practice. I feel more confident on my toe side edge for snowboarding. Can't wait to practice more on real snow. This is a great way to learn so that you spend more of your time really enjoying the mountain once you get up there. Also while you're learning you can wear sweats and it's not as cold! :) I took 2 lessons back to back last week and did the same thing today. The first lesson is on a stationary carpet, where they have you practice going down on your heel side and toe side and you do a little bit of turning if they feel you're ready for it. The next lesson is on the moving carpet. I recommend taking the lessons back to back like that. The stationary carpet serves as a good warm up and also lets you really feel the technique that the instructor is telling you to do. Then once you get on the moving carpet it's not so much of a shock... Kent and his staff are all excellent and I would recommend this school to all my family and friends. We have been to this school at least three times over the past four years with our four children ages 13 to 6. We typically go there before heading out for our annual ski/snowboard trip to Utah. I appreciate how patient the instructors are with our kids. They are very friendly, patient and engaging with our kids. The instructors definitely are good teachers and we can see the improvement in our kids, three of them who ski, while one snowboards. The facility with the moving inclined carpet is well maintained. There is ample parking. I have found the owner, Kent, to be very easy to work with. He asks for a credit card number to reserve your reservation and there is a 48 hour cancellation policy. They only accept check or cash for the payment. It is very easy to make a reservation, Kent likes to talk personally on the phone with you. The cost is $70 for a 30 minute lesson. This price includes any equipment, skis/snowboard/boots that you need to rent from them. Kent was kind enough to put aside some lift tickets to Brian Head Resort in Utah for us. They were extras that he had and gave them to us for free. He has been in business since 1977 and I recommend Adventure Ski and Snowboard School highly. read more

This review is long overdue. My daughters and I (10 yo, 8 yo and 40+) signed up earlier this year to learn how to ski for our Spring Break with friends in Tahoe. We had taken a long break between our last few trips, and never seemed to get very far with the 1-2 day beginner camps. So our goal at Adventure Ski was to be able to parallel ski. I have to say that the lessons worked perfectly. Both my older daughter and I were parallel skiing in Tahoe, and my 8 yo was easily keeping up as an advanced beginner. Ken, the owner, recommended signing up for the 5 lesson package and I think that was just about right. The first couple lessons were spent mostly adjusting to the burning sensation in our legs (ever do a 30 min squat?), while it took another 3 lessons to build the muscle memory and technique refinements. All the while we had a great time. The one on one instruction can't be beat, as well as the convenience of not having to get to the mountain, renting, and having snow collect in your sleeve after a fall. The lessons are not cheap and scheduling can be a bit of a pain, but they are definitely a good value you/your kids will appreciate while gliding down the mountain. We're back this winter for a brush up, and will likely be back when my daughters are ready to pick up boarding. read more

I came here last year and took a couple of lessons for snowboarding. When I've got to snowboard I still take lessons there in the actual snow. Without the lessons here, I wouldn't have been able snowboard. Even with the lessons on the mountain, I find myself going back and remembering my lessons from last year. I would recommend that for those not sportly inclined to take lessons here. They're the best and you get a lot of one on one time. I have known of this operation for many years and it helped me with my skiing techniques back before I switched to snowboarding. And I have also accompanied friends on snowboarding lessons there. I see some reviews claiming Ken didn't fill them in on some things and some saying he talks too much. I think there are many times when he is spread thin but I know for the most part he tries to be very thorough in explaining everything to people. For people with kids you probably don't want to try teaching them to snowboard before they are 5 or 6. Ski lessons can start much younger. Personally I am bypassing the skiing stage completely with my young son (saved me money!) and I am planning on getting him snowboarding lessons here this season. I highly recommend this for learning to ski. For snowboarding I would moderately recommend it (but you really need more than 1 or 2 lessons). Then again I highly recommend learning to snowboard over skiing anyways. Most people, other than those who grew up skiing, end up preferring snowboarding. Skiing looks like it should be easier, but the learning curve to get to a competent level is actually faster for snowboarding. Advantages for skiing: Easier on flat spots, easier for moguls, less likely to break an arm or wrist. And you don't get as banged up the first 3 days like you do snowboarding (which may be the best reason to learn snowboarding on carpet). Advantages for snowboarding: Easier, (but bumpy) learning curve. Much more comfortable shoes. No poles to hassle with. Much easier in the deep thick snow. Less likely to blow out your knees. Also note, not sure if things have changed, but the 1st lesson I don't think you get to be on the carpet while it is moving. read more

HORRIBLE customer service. So I was very excited to learn of this place so my son could try out snowboarding before hauling him all the way to the mountains in the cold. It took forever to get a lesson booked but once we finally did we arrived about a half hour early to check things out. My son was really excited to start when he was watching others on the "hill". Once it was his turn it was very hectic for the instructors trying to figure out who was teaching who, finally we find out that Ken (owner or mgr) is teaching my son, I thought this would be a good thing he should be the best. Well turns out it wasn't a good thing. 15 minutes into his lesson, which only has 5 minutes to go Ken said to me VERY rudely "see, this is why we suggest that they learn to ski first". Wait? WHAT? We were here for 30 minutes getting boots and board fitted and talking to you before we started and you NEVER said anything about skiing first. If you don't like to teach kids to snowboard don't offer it. I asked why he didn't talk to me about this before we started and he said something about how since we booked snowboarding and they already had the instructors assigned it was too late anyway to change. So I asked him if he also was a ski instructor he said yes then ignored my origional question and said he would talk to me after the lesson which he didn't he just kept telling my son he would need to listen better if he wanted to learn to snowboard. I'm really dissapointed because this seems like a really cool idea but with such crappy customer service at such a high price I would rather take the family to the mountains for the day and have fun. I think it may be time for someone to retire and let someone interested in teaching kids to ski and snowboard the opportunity to do it. Instructors were great, very nice and easy to work with. However the manager (maybe the owner) just rubbed me the wrong way. Very uptight. Just not the person you want dealing with customers. Just makes the overall experience poor. Would not go back or give them money again. read more

We just returned from our trip where all 3 girls were shredding on the slopes! Because they learned the basics, we were able to enjoy all day on the slopes as a family, slowly mastering the runs. Kent and all the people that he has on staff are awesome! He and his crew are always very professional, knowledgeable and patient. This is our 2nd season going to his facility and I wouldn't dream of going anywhere else. They have worked wonders with my snowboarding skills and my family as well. As a former professional snow skier It was important to me to share this wonderful sport with my family. I thought that this might be an excellent way for my fiance and her young son to learn and prepare themselves for a Mammoth ski trip we had planned later in the season. My fiance took ski lessons, and her son decided to try snowboarding. I couldn't have been happier at how quickly they both took to their new sports. I must say that I would definitely do this again! The staff was professional, friendly, and did an excellent job at teaching. Our first family ski trip was a complete success, and both my fiance, and her son were able to transition to snow without any difficulty. A great way to learn! I may take a lesson myself. I'm only a novice on the slopes, but the handful of lessons I've had on the carpet have made a world of difference. In every case the staff have been very service-oriented and professional. They spend plenty of time on the basics, which helped a lot with my confidence and kept it fun. More than anything, though, I really appreciate the patient, insightful instruction given to my son, who has tried both skiing and snowboarding. Like me, he was pretty shaky to begin with, but thanks to these lessons, he's now able to really enjoy himself on the mountain. Of course we're bound to be rusty by the time snow falls again, but that's a great reason for a refresher session on the carpet... we'll definitely be back! read more

Had a horrible experience before we even stepped foot in the door. Found them via a Groupon solicitation and paid $35 for a lesson for my son that thought he'd like to try snowboarding. Called to redeem it and found out that one lesson doesn't really cut it, you need a full hour. SO, I agreed and tacked on another 30 min. lesson that I was paying full price for (we're up to $105 now, but if I didn't have GROUPON it'd be $140). I had to leave a msg, when the owner called back, it took 23 minutes on the phone to set up the first appt. He called back during dinner hour and honestly it was all I could do to get him to stop talking. Appt. set, and unfortunately my son got injured the night before. I completely failed to call to cancel. Totally my fault. I was mortified when they called to see where he was. Apologized profusely and explained we had actually just walked in from DR. He explained policy of paying if you miss appt. I said, "charge my card, delete my Groupon, whatever you need to do" again, trying to get off the phone to deal w/injured son. He continued lamenting, well, if you'd like to reschedule, what did the Dr. say about when he can do activity?!?! Are you kidding?! I said I couldn't think of any of that now, maybe we could talk later. So, he asked me for the group on #'s, I didn't have handy. He said I could call back AND btw, would I send a ck for $30 to cover the cost of the 2nd lesson too. So, $65 later, they didn't have to do a thing but show up. If they were ever hoping we would have come and tried it and gotten a few more lessons in before hitting the slopes they are seriously wrong. And they were awfully close to bait and switch on the Groupon anyway. yucky way to do biz. read more

I took dozens of ski lessons on the actual slopes of Vail, Winter Park, mostly Vail... and more than 100++ lessons and sessions on the carpet at Adventure Ski School. A ski challenged individual, I flew to San Diego every weekend for 4 years from Scottsdale AZ. Those weekends were filled with multi-session and multi-lesson personal ski instruction. However, I am only one of more than 20,000 people taught to ski safely by Kent (the owner) and his instructors at Adventure Ski's simulated skiing conditions, on the revolving carpet. It's sort of like a fast groomed Blue run down a mountain ski trail. With the learning I got, I quit falling down so often and I could ski Black slopes and "the bumps" without over-exerting myself on Ski Trips. Like a pro, I can now ski with proper balance and early transfer of weight from one ski to the other in a fast downhill parallel style. What I learned was all done at Adventure Ski School in my opinion. They were able to micro-adjust the way I ski and turn and then get rid of bad habits that were holding me back from enjoying the Art of Skiing. Skiing has become muscle memory where now I just ski correctly without have to think about it. What a pleasure this kind of skiing is to enjoy. During the 10 years I have learned skiing and done extended program skiing sessions at Adventure Ski School, my children became old enough to ski or snowboard. After watching kids under the age of 10 yrs old on a snowboard, I realized they needed to learn how to ski first in order to really get the fundamentals of a downhill experience... particularly if they enjoy going fast. Kent, (Kent Bry) .... the highest level of instructor- ski-guru I have ever met... teaches my kids and many of their friends to ski and snowboard with the best care and attention I have ever seen, head to toe, delivered by ski instructors anywhere.
