My group has never touched a surf board before today, yet we were able to stand on the board and catch waves by the end of the experience. Eric is very patient and consistent in his teaching. His instructions were easy to follow, clear, and encouraging. The owner, Joe was extremely hospitable. We spent time at his shop after surfing to play ping pong and check out his handmade surf jewelry. I highly recommend this experience to anyone passing through town looking for a unique, beginner friendly, south Cali experience! Tips: - Free 4 hour parking in a lot behind the shop. Read the curb for the designated 4 hour parking spots. - Wear a bathing suit and opt for the full wet suit. - After the lesson you can take a 1 minute warm shower at the shop. Booked a 2 hour e-bike rental when my family was visiting. They were able to accommodate our reservation last minute on a weekend which was appreciated. The bikes were in good shape and we got a quick lesson on how to use the motors. We cruised from Solana Beach up to Cardiff, Encinitas then down to Del Mar on the coastal trail on the Highway 101. Beautiful views and good chance to see several beaches up close. One bike came with a basket to hold our belongings and a bike lock so we could explore the beach. Joe (the owner) is the best!!! We did a few rentals from him throughout our 2-week trip in Solana Beach (our favorite was the beginner surfboards and wetsuits - he even gave us some surfing pointers!). He has everything from bikes and boards to umbrellas, beach toys and sunscreen! And his shop's location also couldn't be better - right across the street from Fletcher Cove with easy ramp access to the beach and public bathrooms. Above all, he is a super friendly and welcoming person - we were staying right next door to his shop and genuinely enjoyed chatting with him and getting to know him while we were around. The only piece of constructive criticism we had was the quality of the e-bikes - the ones we rented were on the lower end (we looked them up and saw they were some of the least expensive ones Amazon offers), so that made it a bit challenging to take them on a long ride (they ended up dying on us on our way back from La Jolla). We had such a great time on these scooters! At first I was a little hesitant, thinking I was going to crash while attempting to drive as this was my first time on one of these things, but Joe was super sweet and reassuring. He gave us a tutorial in a large parking area until we felt comfortable taking off. Once we were ready, he suggested we take the main road...so we did. It was such a beautiful ride! We made a few stops in the area to enjoy some of the local establishments. We headed back when our time was up. Joe asked us how our ride was, and if we enjoyed the scooters. He was open to feedback and offered us a little more time to enjoy the sunset on the scooters, which we declined but it was really nice of him to offer. Came here just to rent a couple of beach chairs and an umbrella. Couldn't find the place at first cuz the address took us to the back of their place, where we had to use the other street to enter into their front yard which houses all their gear and stuff. Once we found the place, and it was open, a dog was sitting outside. I guess he was the welcome party for all guests? Stood there for a bit til the dog went back inside and I think he was telling his owner that a customer was standing outside or not....had to give the place a call and a guy finally came out. We got our rentals - $20 all day. Paid him cash. He didn't do any invoice/receipt nothing. Just told us once we were done, just drop it back in front of his place. We could've just left and never came back with his gear...very trustworthy? Or not worth time to put something on paper? Bikes were vary fast, very safe, easy to ride, and extremely fun. It was very affordable, only $80 for 4 bikes for an hour.

We had an absolutely great time renting a paddle board and long board from Joe! He was so incredibly friendly and generous, giving us an umbrella to take to the beach since it was so sunny! The price for an all day rental of any of their great beach gear is the best deal anywhere in San Diego, and its an easy couple hundred feet from the shop down the public ramp to the beach. Joe also makes beautiful hand carved surf inspired pewter rings and necklace pendents in that are really cool!
