Each month, they do provide discounts on certain programmes for anyone who is interested in climbing. I like to climb with Hubs on the weekends, especially on a Saturday morning when there are a few climbers. But my favorite time to climb is during the weekday mornings or afternoons when this place can just be called "my own sanctuary". During the weekdays especially from 5 pm onwards this place can be jam-packed with climbers alike. Each month and every other month, they do change the routes for climbers to progress in their climbing with different range of climbing difficulties. There is also a place for you to do bouldering as well if you dont have a climbing partner to belay. Even my cousin from Singapore who came for a visit sometime around July/August 2009 was awed about this place. If you want, do give them a try to climb. Call them for enquiries or you can visit their website for details : http://www.rocknandjamn.com/ For those who are new into climbing, they do provide introductory classes with a minimal fee that provides the time you climb, the instructor fee, and rental fee of the equipment. If you want you also can contact, the climbers from meetup.com, who climb regularly be it here or the location in Centennial, CO. Thank you Rock'n & Jam'n for making me loving you at the first sight, and now call Colorado home to climb indoors....

Crazy money for what you get. The most expensive gym we've ever been to by A LOT and couldn't find an explanation for why, they don't have anything any other gym hasn't had in the area, in fact it was lacking in some amenities IMO -the rating system was absolutely not accurate for bouldering, we have a variety of climbing levels in our family and the inconsistency with the ratings was insane, not a whole lot to climb if you are a v3/4 or under, felt like the route setters don't understand what a lower level is capable of. -it was packed, really really packed. -my daughters were disappointed there were no auto belays, which is a strange choice in that type of facility. -overall no one acted like there was any kind of community experience, not a seemingly very social place, everyone seemed to be in their own little space. Just overall a very weird feeling for a climbing gym. It was pretty and sure it has a ton of rope climbing but overall I'd pick a different gym without hesitation for the money.

The guy at the front desk responded with a slightly irritated "what do you want to know?" before informing me I that I should have been looking at the website first and then pulled it up on his computer. He then told me that the front desk doesn't know what goes on out front so they couldn't help much! Needless to say I left without booking a class and don't plan to return. Really bad first impressions, no interest demonstrated, and overall a lot harder work than I ever anticipated.

The staff members were so helpful and kind, they showed the kids what to do safely, and then let them go at it on the appropriate courses. I don't know the technical terms but the ones that allowed them to clip themselves in and come down when they were ready was amazing. They treated the kids like any other climbers, and they were absolute naturals. My husband and I just watched (supervised) in awe. We took a short dinner break across the street at John's restaurant and bar (AWESOME) and then they went back to climbing until almost 9pm. It was truly one of the best days we have ever had as a family. Oh and then they begged to go back the next day so we went (equally amazing!). Their confidence skyrocketed and they are well on their way to being lifelong climbers. The only issue was that any other gym we go to will pale in comparison to our experience here! Many walls are not that high nor are the gyms as friendly to kids. Really superior facility. Thank you to the whole team! We will definitely be back!

A lot of serious climbers with a sprinkle of novices the times I've been. Space: Grungy. The air circulation in there is either very poor and/or the mats and place doesn't get deep cleaned enough. It smells like feet moreso than other gyms I've been to. The place is compact for the amount of climbs it has. Climbs: Nice variety of climbs that are fun and challenging. I like the natural wall in the back. Holds could be cleaner (i.e. some holds are so dirty you might mistake it for another color, feels extra greasy). The climbing tape markings are not well maintained (i.e. missing start tape so you're not sure what's considered the intended start).

I think this gym is highly underrated. It is mostly a bouldering gym and features a more compy style as well as tough out door feely boulders. The gym features crack climbing as well. The lead wall was temporarily shut down, but was used as another bouldering/crack climbing wall. The setting is 9/10 easily. I would definitely recommend this gym to anyone who is interested or new to climbing. The staff was friendly, helpful, and interacted with us! Overall I'd say the gym was 9.5/10. Only reason it isn't 10/10 is that the gym was pretty warm. I'm there than that, one of the best gyms I've been to!

Pros : -Climbing options were good. There are a large variety of ropes to choose from. -There are 4 autobelay options I believe -There is also a lead climbing area. -Of course there is also a bouldering area which seemed like quite a few choices, but they were busy working on it today so there was not much of it open to use. -They have some sinks out by the climbing wall so you can go wash your hands and not have to take off all your gear in order to wash your hands. Cons: -Price! holy smokes $46 for me and my daughter climb for 2 hours. Yikes!!! this is more than i pay for my gym membership for my entire family for a month......... That does not include gear rental either as we have our own so we didn't need any of theirs. If you want or need gear it will be more. -You will need to fill out the waiver upon entering not a big deal but their ipad system makes it a little tough to get through. -If you want to do more than bouldering you will need to take a test for top rope and also watch a video for autobelay. Okay fairly standard. However, they failed to mention until after I paid that 1. they were working on the bouldering wall so not much available there. 2. The guy couldn't leave the front desk and no one else was available so can't do the auto belay training either If a good chunk of things are not going to be an option and obviously we are not a regular maybe make sure you let people know BEFORE they pay. We did do the top ropes test. It will take between 5-15 minutes depending on you. I just felt jipped because we did not have the option of using anything and I paid what I felt like was a LOT of money! They could have at least told me upfront that hey you wont be able to use the auto belay and a lot of our bouldering is tore up so probably can't use a lot of that either. I may have made a different decision and went elsewhere. Anyhow. I guess my impression from last time 2 years ago about to this time was not much different.

The facilities are…read moremodern and there is a very ample amount of space for sport climbing, bouldering, and working out. I very much enjoyed my experience at Whetstone and I thought the service and amenities were good. The overall setting was decent. Expect slightly stiffer ratings than other gyms in town but still not overly so. One slight concern I had if I were a regular would be the route turnover- it did not seem to be the same as Ascent, the other gym in town and routes stayed up a bit longer. I think the setting at Ascent is maybe a little better but it's hard to really tell given I only climbed 8 sport routes here vs. years at Ascent. The rates seem fair. $17 for a day pass is cheaper than superior gyms down in Denver. Membership rates seem about the same as Ascent and if I were living in Fort Collins, I'd likely just go to whichever gym was closer to where I lived. The community is friendly and I thought the idea of a bar/coffee area is smart. Definitely hope that Whetstone succeeds as a gym.

I took the beginners class (included with a membership) that introduced me to the important knots for climbing. You get the needed equipment included with your first class (harness, shoes, belaying carabineers) although you can bring your own if you have it. If you aren't sure about gear, they have daily and monthly rentals while you figure it out. They've said that the routes will be getting changed regularly so it never gets stale, and they have some impressively challenging looking ones (I'll need a few years to work up to some of them). We got tired of being tertiary patrons and left after losing patience. I inquired on our way out and was informed that gym is often overrun by children.
