I once again slept on my light weight Silhouette frames and this time, after 7+ years of having these, the arm finally broke. After searching for local retailers through the Silhouette website, I found Insight Optical and called right away. Over the phone, I explained what happened to my glasses and Robert encouraged me to come in to see what he could do. Right when I entered, I was pleasantly greeted and Robert recognized my voice from the phone. I do also want to emphasize that the customer who was on his way also seemed very well taken care of and very happy with the services he just received. Robert was able to provide a new set of arms and fix my glasses within minutes. He is very fast and efficient. He offered to provide the new arms to me for free as they were from a previous order from another customer that was never claimed. My wife has a very expensive pair of "Prada" glasses that were damaged. The metal frames were twisted and crushed far beyond repair. We live in the neighborhood and knew of Roberts experience. I brought the glasses in for an estimate to replace them. Robert immediately looked at the frames recognizing the unlikelihood of salvaging them. However, he began using tools to bend and shape the frames. Over the next half hour as he worked we chatted about pets, military service and the neighborhood. Robert is a world class craftsman and completely transformed the glasses to the original shape. I haven't experienced his level of customer service in years. Wearing eyeglasses during the Covid-19 pandemic is not easy. Not only does a face mask create fogging, but taking a face mask off and on mess up one's eyeglass alignment. My glasses became looser as time went by, culminating in my glasses falling to the ground. I knew I had to get them adjusted, or my next problem would be me potentially stepping on them. But, would an optical shop be considered an "essential business"? I live in Hillcrest and decided to go to Insight Optical Center and was very happy I did. Mike spent quite a bit of time, readjusting my glasses to perfection. He didn't charge me for helping me out, even though I tried to get him to take the $10 bill I had in my hand. He just smiled and said, "Just post a Yelp review". So here it is, with much, much gratitude. The shop is quite airy, large, and comfortable. It is ADA accessible, with parking in the alley in back of the building they share with some other businesses. Since Hillcrest is tough to find parking, there are also parking meters along W. Sad, but true. I took my Prada glasses in for a correction to my right lens. The new lens turned out great, however my frames were returned glued and repaired without informing me. I discovered the bad repair job when I was cleaning the frames for the first time after the new lens was replaced. I only wear the Prada frames in my home when watching TV or a movie. I'm aware of the greatest frame repair company in town...Promec, North Park. I took the repaired frames into Promec and they would have never repaired a pair of frames like this repair job! Sad, but true that this establishment would NOT let the customer know about the repair job; especially after being in business 30+ years. I let my Scripps optometrist know about the issue as he was the one who referred me to Insight optical center. read more

I recently bought a pair of frames from Warby Parker but unfortunately they did not fit like the trials did. With the covid pandemic, none of their stores were open so I needed to find someone to fit my glasses. Insight optical was the only store I called out of 5-6 stores that was willing to fit frames not purchased in their store and available to help right away!
