At about $7-10 range for most of the single menu items (as of late 2025), this place is a terrific option for the budget conscious looking for a tasty meal. I went the simple route. I ordered the zataar and cheese. It was such a tasty bite and that bread is super soft. It made me wanna come back as soon as possible to try some other combinations or their pizza. Al Amir Bakery is my go to bakery for their mini cheese borek. I love that everything is made fresh. I've had to wait 45 minutes once for an order. Another fav is their zatar with cheese bread. I always order the minis and freeze a few. They hold up well and taste just as fresh when I toast them at home. The staff there are really friendly and helpful. I would say this is more of a grab and go spot even though there are chairs for dine in. As soon as I get inside my car, I immediately have to eat a borek. Nothing like bread fresh from the oven! Next I tried the Zaatar and Cheese which was kinda the same concept I had first but with a special blend of different cheeses. So far both were on target with satisfying my curiosity. The young lady told me in advance it might take a little longer as she was by herself at the moment. Prices have gone up (as they have with everything) but it's still a great value. It was $4.75 for the ~10" Nov 2021. Soft, pillowy fresh dough topped with zaatar spice mix and sprinkled with cheese then baked...so good. Hole in the wall place in a busy strip mall in Claremont/Pomona. Free parking but it's door ding city over here. Call in your order to save time. It usually takes about 20 mins for Al Amir to make my flatbread. read more

Unfortunately, we ordered the mini squares and they were completely burnt inside and out (see photos). We ordered these for my bridal shower and it was a complete disappointment. We called to let the staff know and were told nothing was wrong with our order. We were hoping staff and management would own the mistake and offer a refund but instead we were told we were wrong. Every time I've come to Al Amir, I can never understand why it isn't busy. Maybe there aren't sufficient Lebanese in the Pomona/Claremont area. Maybe the Pomona residents can't afford to go out of their comfort zone. Maybe the Claremont residents are afraid to set foot below the 10 fwy. In any event, Al Amir serves freshly baked bread, topped with items hard to find in the surrounding area's restaurants. I'm talking about manakeesh. I've had it here with za'atar and cheese. I don't know exactly the cheese, something soft and unripe and probably from cow's milk, though I could be wrong. The milky cheese offset by the herbaceous Levantine seasoning. I've had it topped with sujuk. This is a spreadable, fermented, spiced sausage. And finally, I've had their sfeeha. From what I've read, sfeehah is a different category of Lebanese bread, entirely apart from manakeesh. My guess is they use this name because it is flavored in that manner, which is the patent sweet n' sourness of the middle east. You get a smear of spreadable lamb, studded with pine nuts, and drizzled with pomegranate molasses. On one visit, I reached into the cooler and grabbed a bottle of juice from among those which I had never tried before. A Lebanese specific beverage. Something called jollab. Some sources say it contains saffron. This one, I didn't get so much of that. I got more of the dates and rosewater. And much sugar. Hey, maybe you're not looking for these flavors in a beverage. That doesn't matter. Try it anyway, with a manakeesh or two. There's no place else like this in the I.E. Ps., they ask if you want your bread folded (to go) or sliced flat on a pizza saucer (for here). Go for a hybrid option, folded first and then cut. This way you can eat it piece by piece while retaining moisture where it would be lost if eaten pizzawise. read more
