My girlfriend ordered ahead of me and was told they had "no double chocolate chunk left". After she settled for her second pick, I ordered 2 vegan double chocolate chunk, to which I was told they had only one of. I was fine with a regular vegan chocolate chunk for my second one, but somehow they were completely out of that. This was at 10 pm, 3 full hours before closing; I'm not sure what is 'insomnia' about that. The cherry on top was realizing that I ended up paying full price for half of a cookie (it literally looked like they had sliced it in half to serve another). Overall horrible experience. I ordered delivery through Uber Eats where Insomnia supplies their own drivers. I ordered six cookies and 1 pint of ice cream. It was projected to be 30 minutes. About normal it's not a huge deal. A half hour goes by and I hear nothing and I can't contact the driver because it is done through the store. I call uber support who then goes on to contact the store and tell me the driver will be there in 30 more minutes. Seems excessive since I had already waited half an hour and I live less than a 5 minute drive away but I wait. Another half hour goes by and still nothing from the store I call again and this time uber support can't even get them to answer the phone. Thank God I did it through a third party so I could get some answers and they were able to process a refund because that is dumb. We normally order hotbox cookies but wanted to try insomnia cookies since they were new to town. They have a big menu with lots of choices. It sounded great. Placed the order online for delivery, was given an approximate time of arrival, and an option to track the order. I had noted on my order asking for no contact delivery and that the delivery driver not ring the bell or knock because my dogs are jerks. The tracking ended up not working. I kept watching it and and it said that the store had received my order and that was it. So I was pretty surprised when someone rang my doorbell. It was the delivery driver. So no tracking and missed delivery instructions. We can chalk that up to being new and still getting the system figured out. That said it was really not fun getting woken up to a text at 1 AM from insomnia cookies telling me that our order have been delivered. (The order had actually been delivered at 8:15.) We ordered six different kinds of cookies. Two of which were listed under "deluxe" and four "classic." The four "classic" cookies were not great. They were not warm. Kind of felt like they had been baked a while ago. We were under the impression that like hotbox, insomnia bakes their cookies to order. These definitely were not. As shown in our picture, we ended up throwing them away. The two deluxe cookies were warm. Obviously had just been baked. But not enough. They were completely raw in the middle. So we ate the edges and tossed the middles. It's too bad because the edges of the cookies were good but the middles were like soup. Maybe having just opened, they still have some kinks to work out. But I can't say that we will be back. It's too bad. They have a great menu and are closer to us than hotbox. But the quality of the food that we experienced was very poor. read more

Welcome to Lawrence, Insomnia Cookies! For the past three years, I've been giving my daughter a hard time for picking the one college town that didn't have an Insomnia. Even Manhattan has one for crying out loud! Anyway, Insomnia has finally made it to Kansas! Woo hoo! I'm guessing the wave hasn't hit yet or perhaps it was just too early in the evening because this was the emptiest Insomnia I've ever visited. The location is a bit odd as most Insomnia's are on a main street that borders a campus. Not this one. It's on 23rd, several blocks from KU, attached to a new apartment complex. Odd. Oh well. Walk inside, and it smells like all the other locations...like a glorious bakery that only produces the finest yum yums for your tum tum. My daughter and I each got one of the chocolate chunk cookies. They came out fast, all hot, yummy, and ready to be devoured. These cookies are better, and I believe cheaper than Hot Box. I am an Insomnia chocolate chunk cookie connoisseur. I have had them from all over the state of Kansas many times. Twice now at this location I've gotten not quite right cookies. The first time they tasted pretty normal but were flatter and thinner than usual, almost as though a minor ingredient was left out. This last time they tasted like sugar cookies with chocolate chunks. I hate sugar cookies. Not sure what is going on over there but I hope someone is doing quality checks. Unbeknownst to the lovely lady and gentleman working the counter tonight, I had just gotten off an 8 hour bus ride after a tough day and was looking for a sweet treat to pick up my mood. I went to Insomnia hoping for a brownie and vanilla ice cream, a go-to comfort dessert for me. Just my luck though, the group of girls in front of me bought the last one, (mind you it was 10:30pm at night so I totally understood). A little disappointed I couldn't get my original order, I pivoted and ordered just a simple chocolate chunk cookie, another staple dessert I love. The lovely man at the counter, I didn't catch his name but he had a beard and glasses, insisted I take the cookie free of charge as I came in for one thing and he was sorry he couldn't provide that for me. I insisted to pay and he said it was the least he could to do to make up for there being no brownies left. He didn't know it, but that small gesture of kindness made my day. So thank you so much to the staff tonight, my cookie was delicious and your moment of kindness was the bright spot in a very dark day for me. I hope the universe pays it forward. I have been having a bad night. I don't want to elaborate, but it was a cookie emergency sort of night. It is what it is. I ordered a box of cookies and a side of icing and sprinkles, and they only delivered the cookies, no icing. That's fine, stuff happens and I can't be mad about cookies on my porch. I called them up to ask about the icing and they knew exactly who I was and why I was calling; they had that icing sent back out in like six more minutes, maybe four, I don't know, it was fast. Not only did they deliver my missing icing, they gave me what must have been an apology box of cookies which contained 75% of the cookies that had already been ordered and previously delivered! Omg, whatever will I do with all of these extra treats!??? Honestly, tonight was a terrible evening outside of the insomnia cookie experience. If I'm ever in a cookie emergency again, I will be ordering from these folks, even if they have to send out two cars to complete my order. read more

We ordered cookies at 9:28 pm for delivery through the app. At 10:48 pm after 2 direct calls to the store which were dropped and a call to their customer service dept we received notification that the order was cancelled. I would think it doesn't take 1 hour and 20 minutes to figure out that you are out of cookies. That is some poor service. read more

Horrible service. The people here are know-nothings. The lady was rude, and was on her phone with her mom instead of making my order. I ordered something 2 hours in advance, got there on time, and they hadn't even started yet. They told me to wait 20 mins. 45 mins later, I had my order. Ridiculous. Never coming here again. read more
