So we came to a cookie shop and ended up getting ice cream. Go figure. I've been to an Insomnia Cookies location in Chicago once, ten years ago, in the wee early hours of the morning as a recently graduated 20-something that didn't need to worry much about sleep. It was awesome. And I assumed this place was only open at night. A few days ago, I was in the downtown area of Lexington with my son and we were looking for a place to grab a sweet treat. A quick search on Yelp brought me here. A cookie sounded good. I also had no idea Insomnia was open during the day, too. Psh. I ALSO didn't know ice cream was an option at Insomnia, too! Both my son and I prefer ice cream to cookies and that's just what we got. You can also get both! An ice cream cookie sandwich! Win! I would've chose this if I was craving a larger treat. There several cookie flavors to choose from, along with eight different ice cream flavors. We both sampled the Lemon Raspberry ice cream. Lemon Raspberry combinations in general are my favorite and this ice cream was HEAVENLY!! My son just wanted his usual: Vanilla. As we were placing our order (FYI: they don't have cones, just cups), our cashier mentioned a "scoop" option that isn't on the menu -- even smaller than the 'small' size, you can just get a large scoop in a cup for $2. Since I didn't want us to completely load up on ice cream, I choose this and it was just perfect for both my son and I. Our total was less than $5 for delicious scoops of ice cream. YES. We were both happy. I can't really comment much on cookies and delivery and all that fun stuff, but they smelled delicious and I'm keeping this place in the back of my mind in case I'm nearby again. I bet this place is popular at night with the college students. Also, this is close to campus so most people probably walk here but if you need to park, there are parking spots at the intersection with parking meters. I love the idea of this business- cookies delivered at all hours!! And I've enjoyed their cookies and ice cream multiple times. But today, for the third time, we have placed an order and cancelled it after a ridiculously long delay in delivery. The cookies are good, but are not nearly worth the aggravation. The first time we had this problem, it was two and a half hours before we cancelled, but my patience has waned. After an hour (delivery time had said 40-50 minutes), we called to check on the order. The corporate office (you can't actually talk to the people at your local shop) said they had not yet made our order! They estimated another 30 minutes before the delivery. Don't bother with Uber Eats or Grubhub. Part of the problem is that they only use their own drivers even if you order through these services. There are other places to get cookies read more

Insomnia Cookies are awesome! I've never had one that I haven't loved. It's a small spot near UK's campus, so I prefer to stop in and grab cookies to go. I usually opt for the Sixpack deal, so that I can have an option of several different cookies, but they have lots of deal options to choose from, or you can just order one cookie or whatever you'd like. I love the Chocolate Peanut Butter Cup, S'mores, and Double Chocolate Mint, but I'll happily accept any cookie from this spot! Plus, they have milk and water, so if you plan to eat your cookies there, or in your car (yes, I've been guilty of this), you'll be all set. I love walking into this place...it always smells amazing! And the cookies are always soft and warm when you get them, which is exactly how I like them. I have had some issues with delivery in the past, but I work close enough to walk here on my lunch break, so I usually do that instead. If you can, I definitely recommend picking them up rather than delivery. The cookies are amazing, and the prices are reasonable...$20 for a dozen and $11 for a sixpack. My absolute hands down favorite is the peanut butter chip cookie...but the double chocolate mint are a close second. Great concept, they are open 10am to 3am for pick up or will deliver warm cookies to you. Not a big place but all you need is ovens, right. So about 13 days later, I am writing this review about the actual Insomnia cookie tastes and price point. Apparently, they are just as good as their competitor, Great American Cookie and price wise, I had paid $25.18. The price was for 18 cookies of which one was free, so about $1.3988 a cookie. That is a pretty great deal actually. Final lines: If you want a good cookie for the best price in Lexington, I would write to definitely go to this place over Great American. Also, there is no b.s. about free cookies and not so free cookies. When I asked for my free one on National Cookie Day, it was in the box with the other 18 cookies (since I wanted two of everything they had). Something you never knew you needed...quick and cheap delivery of warm, delicious cookies to your house! We had come back from dinner with the family (2 kiddos in tow) and wanted cookies. We ordered a selection of regular cookies (chocolate chunk, chocolate chocolate chunk, and white chocolate macadamia), as well as the bigwich (cookie sandwich with icing), and an ice cream sandwich. The cookies arrived warm and gooey and they were amazing. The icing on the cookie sandwich is awesome, and the ice cream comes in a separate tub so you DIY it at home to prevent a melted mess. Tried this place out last night on the way to the airport to pick up family. First time here and I don't know for sure if I'd go out of my way to return. 3 stars for the following reasons: Ok, I realize we came at 11:30pm but, they had a steady stream of customers. They are in a prime location for business being right behind Two Keys Tavern. Yet they were out of about 3/4 of their cookie selections. They are open until 3am so I feel like they should have a fairly steady stock. They don't accept cash higher than a 20. Not sure if this is just for late night or what but, I had a 50 and ended up having to use credit instead. We purchased a box of 6 cookies for just under 9 bucks which wasn't bad. The cookies were also slightly warm which I very much appreciate! My husband ate 5 of the 6 cookies, guess that means he enjoyed them. The one I got to try was chocolate mint which was good. Mint flavor wasn't overpowering but the chocolate flavor didn't stand out to me. I just tasted mint. Right amount of crispness around the edges, I wish the center would have been a little softer though. All in all good cookies but, I could make the same quality at home. If I ever make it back, I'd like to try their ice cream and maybe the cookie selections will be more abundant next time too.
